While on vacation in the Silver Dunes area, my friend and I wanted pizza. We saw that Hart Pizza had the highest reviews and ordered a large extra cheese for take out. Upon arriving at the restaurant, it was very clean and had the Italian decor I would expect a small town pizza shop to have. I arrived early and was greeted by the staff. They were very friendly. I had arrived before the pizza was done and had 2-3 other staff members ask if I was helped. So they are very much on top of customer service. After grabbing the pizza and getting back to the rental home, we dug in. The pizza had a great crust, the sauce was delicious and the cheese was high quality. It was a great dinner all around. Unfortunate that new owners made changes to a long-standing favorite place for friends to meet, have great pizza and enjoy some drinks. They have changed their hours from 11 PM to 9 PM. That is unfortunate during the long summer days in Michigan especially in a tourist area. They also fired a long-standing favorite bartender with 12 years under the previous owner. It's unfortunate when somebody buys a favorite local business and then decides to make it worse with their own ideas. The service has gone downhill. We will no longer be visiting this restaurant after years of it being a weekly night out for pizza. read more

The ingredients are still very fresh but since they took out the ovens & replaced with conveyor belt the crust is drastically different. We have given the over a year to make adjustments, but it's actually gotten worse. Crust gets "blown up" and always, always over cooked to the point of being burnt. read more

The new owners, whom previously ran an ice cream store have ruined a highly successful operation. They used to have wonderful pizza ovens. You could request a pizza extra crispy. Now this request is denied. The went to automated conveyer system which eliminates options. Once and done is their new model. They lost great employees due to poor leadership. The local bar culture has suffered. Us locals are finding new venues. Deb, the previous owner, built an amazing pizza and pub destination that locals, tourists and employees found exceptional. Swung by for Detroit style and were unfortunately told it was unavailable. After shrugging off the initial disappointment our party of 5 ordered 2 hand-tossed selections and enjoyed them immensely. Nice crust, generous on the toppings, and well portioned. Slick place to grab a bite. Bar looked cozy and stocked well also. Friendly attentive staff. We are currently visiting Hart for a short period. While there, we came across Hart Pizza and figured we would give it a go. To my delight, the quality of service was as impressive as the deliciousness of the pizza. We requested a thin crust, and even though it was not listed on the menu, they put together an amazing one for us. This was a pickup order, and we were pleased to see the place slammed on a Monday evening. Without a doubt, this will be our go-to restaurant whenever we revisit the town! Food = 7/10 Service = 2/10 Ambiance = 2/10 I'll start with the food...the quality of the food was better than the last few times I have visited this establishment. I got a Pepperoni, Bacon and Ham 12" pizza with house made sauce on regular crust. An easy basic pizza. The service...granted it was 4th of July and the place was bumping, but with the 5+ cooks and with the 2(became 3) wait staff it was still a service that I would consider to be under par. My wife and I waited 1 hour and 24 minutes for our Pizza, 3 tables that placed orders minutes after us got their food before we received ours. Their orders were bigger too, I don't know if that effects the time on order to table. We each had a drink and within the 1 hour and 24 minute period between placing an order and getting our food, we only saw our waiter twice. When he delivered our food I did request a to go box and the check because I wasn't going to wait another 30-40 minute interval for him to check in on us. The ambiance...we got sat at a table that consisted of people putting their asses almost on our table and the constant smell of body odor from people standing in line. It got very congested and I was quite disgusted with the constant amount of asses pretty much in my wife's and my face as we tried to enjoy a nice dinner with each other. Extra credit(or is it?)....The place was what I would call Unorganized Chaos. This establishment has potential to be better and I know that. But with it being a holiday I would assume that the owner would have all hands on deck especially since it is at ground zero for the local fireworks display. Take this review as you may but from personal experience, I won't choose this establishment for a holiday dinner ever again. read more

I am displeased with the poor customer service of the restaurant. I'm comedy 45 forth orders pizza in a cigarette dish on the oven and are closing at 9 and don't have anything left it's safety. Got rid of it... This is something that they need to put on their website and maybe wait until closing to dispose of the food... It seems like they're just in a rush to? Go. Home? And not? We had a great time at Hart Pizza this evening! This was my first time at this new location (it's been 9 years since I last ate here!), and I really like it! Parking is easy, and although the interior is intimate it's not too intimate See photos for details~ We were a party of 8, and ordered a ton of food. Five orders of cheesy breadsticks, two pizzas, two Meatball Marinara pasta dishes, and a Caprese salad. Outstanding!!! The pizza is better than I remembered, the salad was terrific, and the glass of Moscato that I ordered was crisp and sweet. So lucky to have found this small town gem! And when the entire Silver Lake area closes down at 11pm, this place is open until midnight. We were ecstatic to walk in a little late our first night in town around 11:40pm but the bartender and kitchen staff were extremely nice, didn't rush us and provided outstanding customer service (I mean let's face it...most places you walk in so close to close you are told you cannot stay to eat or they have already closed down...definitely not the case here!) Their pizza is outstanding. Reminds me of A New York slice of pizza. It's so good you just can't stop eating. they also have sandwiches and pasta. I tried the pasta on the second night and oh man, it was great!! Very clean. Awesome food. Good music. Full bar. Awesome staff...can't get better than this place for a small town.
