From California and visiting the partners family, wanted to treat them out to breakfast and they picked this place as it's their personal favorite. The owner is a friendly Scottish lady who gave us great recommendations and even had us in tears laughing when one in our party couldn't take the clue they had ran out of tater tot's for the day. The food all came hot and fresh! I'm a basic guy and opted for the bacon and eggs. I really enjoyed my meal and the overall ambience of this small town diner. They have fresh brewed iced tea as well. The high Yelp score is what drew us in after biking this morning and tummies were grumbling. This little diner has multiple sections, one including a diner counter and while it wasn't busy late lunch the staff were attentive and friendly. Jackson waited on us and a young lady joined in to make sure we were happy and didn't need anything. We both had the "Papa" which was: 3 eggs, sausage patties (3, links also an option) and 3 of their Fabulous pancakes. My friend added blueberries and I stayed classic. They were large, fluffy on the inside and crispy edges which made them so good. Nice 'scoop' of fresh, whipped butter and maple syrup. This diner is a local staple. The staff is friendly and they seat you pretty quickly. Upon arrival the space was clean and the restaurant overall was quiet but welcoming. The theme is diner style with pink elephant decor. If you live in the area or you're visiting this the breakfast (and lunch) place to visit. The prices are very reasonable, and the food portions are generous. Parking is off street but there is a small city lot near the restaurant you can park and walk over. If you need handicap parking, they do have a spot next to the restaurant. We ordered the kids silver dollar pancakes with bacon, potato skin scramble with a pancake and the meat lovers' omelet with a side of hashbrowns and a pancake. We had a small issue with the omelet, but it was resolved and the new one tasted great and was very filling. You have the option to order toast or a pancake with most meals and we chose the pancakes. They add a lot of butter to them but you can also order them dry as they say. We enjoyed the pancakes the most. The potato skin scramble came with eggs, green peppers, bacon, and cheese. The scramble was seasoned and it was a generous portion which I ordered as a "whole" order versus a half. I did assume the potatoes were going to be the traditional redskin potatoes but they were not. Overall I enjoyed it and would get it again. No complaints from my kiddos on their order of pancakes. They enjoyed them with hot syrup and a side of strawberry jam. We really enjoyed the service and noticed that the servers all helped each other out. In our case ours was busy with another table so one member addressed our omelet issue while another refilled our coffee. I loved that they all worked together at all the tables. read more

Such a cute place! I loved the decor. We had to wait for a table but our wait wasn't that long. Our server was very friendly. I was prepared to give this restaurant four stars because the wait for our food was a little long. However, the food was great and well worth the wait. I ordered the bandito quesadilla and my husband ordered the chicken bacon ranch wrap and both were great. We will return here if we are in the area again. read more

We stopped here for breakfast after a camping trip in Ludington. What a gem! These little hole in the wall diners are hidden jewels! The service and food were outstanding! Eggs, sausage, home fries cooked to perfection! Biscuits and sausage gravy just like your granny used to make, and freezer strawberry jam for toast is like eating dessert for breakfast! Really great food, unfortunately really bad customer service. ‍ Started from when we walked in. Yelled over a large group leaving for us to "come on" she was pointing at a table for us to sit at and quickly turned her back. I apologized because I wasn't entirely sure what table she pointed to. There was two large tables so just wanted to make sure. As we had a party of 7. She clearly annoyed said the one with the menu. She proceeded to have an attitude about her grabbing an extra drink,that was not needed or asked for. We go to the Pink Elephant every year after packing up from Electric Forest. It's always been a highlight of our festival weekend and something everyone is eager to get to by Monday morning. The food is exactly what you need after camping for 5 days and living off of pretty much liquids and candy. The "Scottish Nightmare" turned out to be one of the most enjoyable parts of our visit this year, including the story of how she earned the title. We walked away with it being a dream, not a nightmare. Can't wait to be back next year!!! read more

Walked in for breakfast with a party of two, and waited several minutes to even be greeted. When we were seated our host took our drink order before a waitress came by shortly after for our food order. The restaurant didn't seem crowded by customers and it didn't seem like they were understaffed, but it was apparent that they didn't work well together. We waited nearly 40mins for our meal with no updates on the when it would arrive. Upon receiving our food, some of our silverware was not cleaned. The food was bland to be honest. No seasoning while cooking was apparent. On the flip side of waiting so long for the food, the waitresses were friendly and offered to refill our coffee often. All in all, I wouldn't recommend coming here. From bland food, lack luster food and an overly long waiting time, it just wasn't worth it. read more

Had a great breakfast here on Sunday August 22,2021. Ample parking around the spot, which is rather unassuming from the outside. In fact, as I was about to enter, I thought it was not very busy. I was quite wrong ! Once inside, you realize it's sizeable and was completely full. Luckily they had some space at the counter. It seems a mostly family run business. The food is tasty and comes fast. Service to top up my coffee was always prompt. I had the "kitchen sink" omelet. Delicious, especially with a bit of hot sauce. I ordered breakfast for my wife and I. She got toast, eggs, bacon and hash browns and she absolutely loved it. I got a 3 egg kitchen sink omelette. It was delicious but what threw me off was the portion size of my omelette. I'm used to Shelby bakery's 3 egg omelettes and they are huge, but their omelette still delivers. The service was quick and courteous and very hospitable. They also just expanding but the place is looking quite nice for a good breakfast. read more

I normally go to Debs cafe which I loved because it was located right on the lake in Hart, but they moved to Shelby so I checked Yelp and Google reviews for an alternative and Pink Elephant showed up with a good rating. Although the decor in the photos really put me off, I trusted my fellow reviewers. The food and service was good. One of the first restaurants of the many I've been to that was able to cook an over medium egg correctly finally meaning the egg white was cooked and not snot-like! The potatoes were light and crispy and the locally made raisin bread was delicious. My husband got pancakes and they were light, fluffy and had a nice vanilla essence to them. I liked that the meals were well proportioned and not heavy or greasy like some breakfast joints. I really liked this diner and wouldn't hesitate to come back next time I'm in town. The only reason I knocked a star off is because the coffee was terribly weak and the decor was not appealing. I think any restaurant that offers breakfast should invest in good local coffee. read more

The initial (lack of) greeting was somewhat off putting but was not at all indicative of our experience. Server was quick, intuitive and friendly. Very nice surprise. We decided to try something away from nearby Mears, where we have been staying. The food in Mears is very average, so we did not know what to expect in a small town like Hart. Went to the Pink Elephant for breakfast. When we got there we had to wait a couple minutes to be seated which usually means good food and service. Once we got seated by the hostess we proceeded to wait 15 minutes for a waitress that never came, the hostess finally took our drink order and then our food order 5 minutes later. Finally after 45 additional minutes of waiting our food came. The only reason I gave the 2 stars was because the food was great just the lack of service was terrible having to wait an hour to get food in a small restaurant is almost unbelievable. read more
