vegans beware. i'm almost certain we were given dairy cheese when we asked for non-dairy cheese. regardless, the stix famous "pizza" resembled a tortilla with sauce and cheese melted on. i wouldn't really call it a pizza and it wasn't very good. the stir fry mushroom noodle bowl was decent. i enjoyed the assortment of veg in it. i also enjoyed my NA IPA. they had a beyond burger which could be ordered with no aioli in an attempt to veganize it but i believe the bun was brioche which usually contains dairy. our server was wonderful though and the owners were attentive. read more

We visited with a large group of 20 on a Sunday afternoon without a reservation. The staff seated us on the patio, which was enclosed in plastic and quite warm with the sun beaming in and no fans. We asked if it might be possible to move inside since the restaurant wasn't very busy, and they were able to accommodate us fairly quickly, which we really appreciated. It did take a little while for someone to come take our order, but once our server arrived, she was kind, attentive, and efficient. The food took some time to come out, but when it did, everything arrived at once and nothing was missing. Overall, the food was good. The only disappointment was that the fried shrimp portion was smaller than expected for the price. I also personally felt the chips, salsa, and queso weren't worth the price compared to other restaurants in the area. The queso was quite bland. As a side note, if you order their pizza, be aware it's a thin crust style--but instead of being crisp, the crust was soft, which was a bit unexpected for us. The kids all ordered kids meals that differed from chicken strips, Mac n cheese, and spaghetti. Each meal came with a drink and the portions were very decent size. My food recommendations would definitely be their pecan crusted fish, the classic burger, veggie noodle bowl and although such a small portion the fried shrimp was delicious! The space itself is very cool, both inside and outside, with additional BBQ and bar concepts that add to the experience. 10/12/24 Update. Very good trip with the fam again. Enjoyed the drinks and recommend the Porch Pounder as it's not too sweet but very flavorful. Baby Back Ribs were very good tender smoked rub. No BBQ sauce if that's important to you. The crab stuffed flounder was very good too. One ding against the atmosphere was the abundance of flies at our table. This was surprising being mid October, but there they were. My guess there was some trash that needed attention. Not worth the time! Poor service, staff oblivious. No management. Went for a burger. 15 minutes to see a server, ordered calamari and a burger. Calamari came out in 10 minutes. 45 minutes later the burger. Kept asking about status! They were working on it. Waitress was new. Not sure what the issue was in the kitchen. Asked to see a manager. We were told there was no manager! No one came to talk with us! They sent the new waitress to solve the issue. Poor customer service, no management, They just don't care! We will not go back! Ambiance is nice. Nautical theme, big place. Service is very very slow. So make sure you have some time on your hands to sit around the table hoping a waitstaff person will drop by. The reason for the really low rating is the food. It isn't very good even if they serve it to you hot, which they did not. My flounder was cold - like room temperature. Sunday Brunch - Very bad service. The food was great, but the service was extremely slow, never got coffee refills, hot sauce as requested, or checkups on the meal. They were clearly short handed, but also the waitress wasn't very motivated with any extra effort, even spent time chatting with the hostess just standing there. This is not the first time experiencing slow/bad service with the Sunday brunch, will likely never do again. The small handful of other tables clearly seemed equally agitated with the poor service. Stix is trying to present itself as a 5-Star restaurant with their quality dinnerware, exquisite presentation and average plate price of $30.00. However, their service is better suited for Denny's. They're inadequately trained and FOH operations are abysmal. For example, after my SO ordered a $12.00 Margarita with salt. It of course came without salt. My friend and I came here after a long day at work. We wanted to reward ourselves and this place was the perfect local place to do that. My garlic buttered steak was perfectly cooked and almost melted in my mouth. She ordered the pecan crusted whitefish and mended that it had an interesting subtle sweetness to it and a nice texture. My spicy margarita tasted very authentic and deliciously spicy. The porch punch was also very tasty. We were only in town for two days, and I'm disappointed that we were only able to come here once. The service was great as well and the restaurant has a nautical theme that suits a town located in the shores of Lake Michigan. Honestly. Not impressed. Overhearing a waitress yelling at the host and swearing at him, slow service, and the food honestly wasn't great at all. The pecan crusted fish- totally tasteless. Cool venue in Ludington. It's a fresh atmosphere for a small town. Service is friendly. Food is alright. I would not order the mushroom stir fry pasta again; flavor is light and lacking. The burger was decent, thick patty. Coleslaw is fresh and nice sweetness. Fries are crispy. Water tastes a bit metallic here. The coke was low on syrup and carbonation. What is fun is the small bowling alley across from the main dining area. Depending on time of day, bowling is ~$20/hour. Shoe rentals extra $4. If you bowl with 5 people, 1 hour will be enough for 1 game. The outside patio is awesome. There's a stage, multiple corn hole boards, yard sized connect 4, ladder golf, a bbq food truck, and a bar. Our party of 8 arrived before the place got busy, and we were the first ones to sit on the patio. The service people were lovely but it took an hour for appetizers and another hour for our entres. After we'd been sitting there two hours, the manager unsolicitedly said that "big tables killed them". Yet by the time we left, only one other table of the nearly full patio had food. Enjoyed a dinner date with my partner at Stix and it was an overall great experience. We were given the option of dining inside or outside. Our waitress was friendly and helpful when I was torn between two entrees. We ended up ordering the chicken pesto, the walleye and a slice of key lime pie for dessert. Everything was delicious! After our meal we wandered out to the Biergarten to have a look around. What a cool atmosphere. The outdoor game court was lots of fun and patio was beautiful! It just went from bad to worse this summer. The service is abysmal. They really ought to not seat more people than they can accommodate. Every time service takes forever, but tonight takes the cake. We were seated on the outdoor deck upstairs because everything inside was taken. We ordered everything within 5 minutes of sitting down because we knew it was going to take forever. Our drinks took half an hour. Appetizers took 50 minutes. And we had no napkins or utensils, even when the appetizers came. Utensils and food didn't arrive until 75 minutes after we ordered. The tables were filthy and hadn't been cleared. A couple of the wait staff were in the dumpster area beneath us smoking cigarettes and dropping f-bombs. Basically it felt like the old Stix before Riemer bought it. The last time I was there the hostess sat us in front of a window up front where the blinds weren't working, so we sat like ants under a microscope in sunlight having to look away from each other the entire time. Our waitress was non-responsive when we asked her to address it or move us. Our waitress tonight stared over my shoulder while I paid the bill and selected the tip. I won't go back. 5 dinners there this summer. It started bad and got worse every time. I'm embarrassed for Ludington and would be ashamed to take friends there who were visiting. read more

VIP Tickets to a Disaster - Thanks, Stix Bar! Wow, where do I even begin? My husband and I made the brilliant decision to buy VIP tickets to see Bone Thugs-N-Harmony at Stix Bar--because who doesn't want to treat themselves to a night of great music, good food, and a "premium" experience? Turns out, we paid for front-row seats to a complete train wreck. The Organization (or lack thereof): From the moment we arrived, it was crystal clear no one had any idea what was going on. "VIP" apparently meant wandering around confused while looking for someone--anyone--who worked there. Spoiler: there were none. The Buffet: If you're wondering what a "VIP buffet" at Stix Bar looks like, imagine three sad little trays of what might have been food at one point in time. The selection was microscopic, the quality was nonexistent, and honestly, I wouldn't have fed it to a stray cat. Bon appétit? Private Bar, Hilarious Service: One of the "VIP perks" was a private bar area. What we got was one overwhelmed teenager playing bartender for a packed crowd. We waited 30 minutes--yes, thirty--for a drink. The only thing premium about this setup was the level of frustration. The Concert (All 8 Minutes of It): And then, the moment we were all waiting for: Bone Thugs-N-Harmony finally took the stage. They performed for a grand total of eight minutes before the show was canceled. No explanation, no warning, just... done. And to top it off? No refunds. Apparently, we paid for the experience of being ripped off. Oh, and Parking: We also shelled out an extra $20 for "premium" parking, which was just a regular parking lot. No signage, no attendants, nothing "premium" unless you count the privilege of paying more for the same thing everyone else got. Final Thoughts: If you're looking to waste your time, money, and patience, Stix Bar is your place. We paid for VIP tickets and got a dumpster fire of an event. I felt like it was going to be a gamble visiting Stix, because every time we passed it, the parking lot was packed. But we decided to chance it and got there around 3:30 on a Sunday, and the restaurant was not at all crowded. We were seated right away, and our food came relatively quickly. When we visited, they also had some sort of music and food truck thing going on outdoors. It was pretty neat: There was live music, a bonfire, corn hole, and lots of people just relaxing and enjoying the great weather. So once we were done eating inside the restaurant, we went outside to play some 'hole and vibe with all of the people there. I skipped over the restaurant, though. I ordered the grilled salmon with potatoes and green beans, and it was a perfect choice. Sometimes, salmon can be iffy depending on where you are, but this salmon was cooked perfectly. It was the perfect meal because I wanted something substantial but not heavy, and that's what I got. My kids ordered off of the kids menu, and got fish fingers and a cheeseburger. Both of them loved their food, which is always a relief. After dinner and corn hole outdoors, we made our way to the Stix bowling alley (a couple of steps from the restaurant) to play a round (a game? What do you call it? A frame?) of bowling. This bowling alley is super duper modern and clean. I think my kids and their friend mostly liked making themselves into avatars with crazy names, which showed up on the screen above the lane. This bowling alley Is very fun for families! They also have a shuffle board table inside the bowling alley area. I was told that Stix is a really fun place to visit in Ludington, and that's definitely true! The food is great and so is the entertainment. We had a really great time here. read more

Had dinner here on Saturday 4/19, my wife and I sat at the bar, our dinner was served and I happened to look up at the pendant lights above the bar and was totally disgusted to see dead flies stuck to the light cords, brought to the managers attention and she really didn't have much to say. The fish here was amazing. The crab stuffed flounder was so perfectly cooked. It was delicate and flaky and had tons of flavor. The green beans were also so fresh. The ahi tuna bowl was so flavorful and the tuna was very fresh. The blackened walleye was also so tender ans flavorful. We also tried the thin pizza and it was so good. The crust was very thin and crispy and not as greasy as some thin crust can be. The wait staff was amazing and friendly. The bar was so pretty and the venue was huge. We sat inside and also our by the fire pits. Some of our group got good at the outdoor BBQ food truck and loved it. This place is perfect for big parties. read more

The outdoor space/beer garden is great for drinks and music. That is all. The food is $$$$ and sub-par. Service is slow and unremarkable. We came in with a party of 10 for Sunday brunch. We arrived right as the restaurant opened. Only two tables were seated ahead of us. We placed our beverage order at 10:05am and at 11:15am the food had still not been brought out. When it finally arrived, dishes were cold and some items were missing or we were told they were simply not going to be available (ex: no queso for the breakfast burrito...though it was in the menu description and we weren't told it wouldn't be available until the food arrived). The tab for 10 was $225 + tip. Incredibly dismal experience. So disappointing after many, many years of great food and service at the old Stix establishment. read more

While I don't know what the old Stix looked like, my in-laws assure me that this completely redone restaurant, bowling alley, and Biergarten are totally different and beautiful! Food: at our table we tried the lobster bisque (very creamy, there are noticeable pieces of lobster in it.), the wedge salad, fish and chips and grilled salmon! Wanted the sirloin steak but due to it being a very busy weekend, they had run out. The portions are great value for the price! My husband and father in law thought that the fish and chips were excellent- not overly battered, large chunks of cod fillet, tasty coleslaw and fries. Grilled salmon was really tender and the mashed potatoes are delicious. Other photos show the bowling alley and beautiful Biergarten as well as other outdoor seating areas. Overall was quite stroller friendly. I'm giving them 4.5 stars and rounding up - Half star taken away for service issues/order mix ups/out of menu items, which I think were due to being a new restaurant and a very busy weekend. Heard about this place from a family member so checked it out on a family vacation to Silver Lake. First visit was an attempt to bowl on a rainy day. The place was packed, but we threw our name on the wait list and were told 2.5 hour wait. Only ended up waiting an hour, bowling was fun, but no waitresses in the bowling/bar area so be prepared to schlep for your own drinks. Kids had a "famous" Stix pizza as a snack, which tasted fine. Think they could cook them a bit longer for taste but they probably rush it when busy. Went back on a nice evening and ate on upstairs patio to access the whole menu. The setting is beautiful. But the service is severely lacking. It wasn't even busy so no excuse. Menus sat on the table the entire meal, waters were not refilled, I was never asked if I wanted a second glass of wine. At the end of the meal the waitress actually handed the bill to my husband and sat there and stared at us until he put his card in. It was very strange. I loved the house salad. It was the only thing that I ate and thought, now this I would make a trip back to eat. My shrimp stuffed cod dinner (pictured) was good, but my husband said his fried cod dinner was just okay and tasted no different than typical bar food, despite the $22 price tag. Think this place wants to be a nice restaurant but can't quite hit the mark. read more
