No, just no. The building itself is beautiful and the outdoor area is gorgeous and that's where it ends. The food is simply overpriced bar food masquerading as a restaurant. There were a group of us who ordered several appetizers and meals. The apps were just mediocre and the meals were sub-par. We sent back two of the meals because they were cold. For the price we paid, we really expected more. The food service was slow (but I wouldn't be too excited to serve their food to customers either). The bar service was fine. Overall this was an experience we are not too quick to repeat. Let's hope the owners other restaurants are better. read more

I really hate to write this but I will not be going back. While the food is often quite good, I just cannot make excuses for the unbearably poor service that we receive time and time again. Please understand, I am not some pretty princess that demands perfection and I waited tables for years. It is just abundantly clear that a good percentage of the waitstaff at Stix don't know what they are doing, hate their jobs, or really just don't give a damn. And management either doesn't care or is incapable of managing a front of house team. While I know there are one or two waitstaff that are good, I'm just not willing to take the chance of having another meal where my disappointment with the service completely ruins the experience. How can I bring guests here? At times we have complained and spoken with a manager but nothing ever really seems to improve. It's sad, but I'm done. read more

We were visiting the area to escape the heat wave and found this place just down the road from our house. The place is huge with several different areas for food and entertainment. Not a good place for concert venues. I went on May 23rd to see Bone Thugs and Harmony and the band was shut down through their 2nd song following noise ordinance guidelines in Ludington. The lady who spoke about it announced that everyone would get an email with a refund. I got my email and it said they can not offer me a refund but give me 4 tickets to come back and see other concerts. That does not justify this to me as it was spoken outloud to tons of people that they would refund everyones money. Not to mention the 2 bands who played before had people come on the stage, setting in the back behind the artists where smoking pot and drinking. It looked really sloppy. So they want to offer me tickets to come back and be dissapointed all over again..? No Thanks. . Very dissapointing experience. I just want my money back. Stix do better! I won't be back! read more

I have never written a review before, but this experience needs to be shared. From the moment we walked in the hostess asked us to step aside while they called people to their tables. No problem, except she didn't come back for 15 minutes and asked what name our reservation was under. She had never taken our name which led to a longer wait. Once seated we didn't see a server for another 20 minutes. She apologized and we moved on. We were ready to order but she only took our drink order. A can of $7 NA beer, a cup of coffee and two waters. First came the beer with no glass or drink napkin. No biggie. 10 minutes later a coffee with cream and no spoon to stir it with. Still no water. We ordered two appetizers to split, crab cake and calamari. The wait for the food wasn't bad, so we were hoping things were taking a turn. Unfortunately this wasn't the case. We didn't have any silverware when the food arrived, so we had to wait again for that. The crab cake appetizer was one crab cake which was smaller than the palm of my hand, for $14. And then the calamari...I can honestly say it was the worst I have ever had. The breading was marginal, but the calamari was like chewing bubble gum. Our server did remove it from our bill and was very pleasant about it. There was never any refill of coffee or other beverages, no checking in to see if everything was okay, had we not flagged her down we would have likely never seen her again. I've dined at Stix a few times and never had anything I'd hope to have again. We decided to give it another try, but that will be the last. It really is a disappointment that such a beautiful building can't provide the dining experience one should be able to expect. read more

Called then at 6pm on a Friday night and was told it could be an hours for a table, but we showed up 2 minutes later and was seated that away.... upstairs on the patio. I couldn't have asked for a better table! The only mishap we had was no one came over to serve us for at least 15 minutes. It gave us a chance to look over the menu though. When it was finally decided who our server was, Sara, she did a wonderful job! Before I get to the food Larry me just say parking can be crazy! They have a lot of space, including across the road. They're a bowling alley connected so that can make it busy in the evenings too. They have a huge space out back with a large stage for live music. Now for the food....I have to just say everything was delicious and in not kidding! I ordered the BlackBerry smash drink with bourbon... . Hubby liked they have Michelob ultra on draft. We ordered the mushroom bruschetta for a starter and with lobster bisque. Then stuffed flounder and crab cakes. Green beans and corn were cooked perfectly and the sauces added the perfect touch. The blueberry bread pudding for dessert was soooo good! My daughter ordered the Spanish coffee and wasn't thrilled with it, good but not showing to be ordered again. Prices, I don't really like to discuss because that's a subjective thing. I feel the prices are average for this type of food and service. Definitely a place I'd stop again when in Ludington. read more

We went to see Dopapod, Tauk, and The Motet this weekend and the Beir Garden is beautiful! All the staff was super friendly, the lines for the bars were long but the bartenders did a great job keeping them flowing. We got our drinks from Ryan and he was awesome! Super friendly and knowledgeable about not just the drinks and the restaurant but the music too! I hope to see more shows like this here, we will definitely be back! read more

Sadly can't write much of a review on this other than the atmosphere. Was in town with the wife for the holiday weekend and saw some good reviews, menu looked good, and building looked awesome from the photos. Decided to give it a shot to try something new. Got there and was farily quiet, a few tables but nothing crazy. Asked to sit outside on the patio to enjoy the weather. We were the only table outside and maybe 5-6 tables inside. Was told our server would be with us shortly. Saw a server or busser come out and clean a table but was never acknowledged. After about 10-15 minutes? (Lost track of time) another one popped their head out the door and then commented to someone inside, "Yes there is a couple sitting out there..." Another five minutes went by and still we were never greeted or even had a chance to get drinks. Decided it was time to try somewhere else. Went inside to see a group of 4-5 servers/staff members all hanging out talking outside the kitchen window The building was awesome, very cool atmosphere overall. Very disappointed that we didn't actually get to try it but there was some serious lack of communication that made a horrible experience read more

Had a table of 18 on Saturday July 27th, probably some of the worst service we've had! I get a larger table may be stressful or a lot to deal with... but doesn't mean we deserve crappy service! Our table was friendly and wasn't the typical obnoxious large group. Our waitress looked like she didn't want to be at work, threw the straws at the table and just genuinely looked uninterested. When one of the salads comes out without the chicken another waitress put her hands up and said "I just work here" and stormed off when asked where was the chicken. Is there a lower star? A total disaster start to finish! We got seated right away but had to wait 15 minutes for a waitress to show up. She started good, got us our drinks, took our food order and then we never saw her again. I finished my beer and set it at the end of the table. After 1/2 an hour i flagged down another waitress and asked to find ours. A totally different lady showed up and said she was taking over, "what was the status of our order". Shouldn't you know? she got me another beer and a different person brought our food, I asked if it was sitting under a light this whole time and was assured it was hot and fresh. It was warm, my "blackened chicken roll up wasn't blackened and my wife's 3 pieces of Cod was very small. The second waitress came back and asked if we wanted desert, i said "not after this fiasco and by the way, in your opinion what do you think an appropriate tip should be? She said she had to pay taxes on the total amount, she handed me the pay machine that had 20% already highlighted. She only served us 1 beer and the bill. she got 0%. read more

Our wedding shower at Stix in Ludington was an extreme letdown, marked by inexcusable neglect and unprofessionalism that deeply disrupted a cherished occasion, despite our efforts to make the best of it. Five months in advance, I sent numerous emails and calls to secure a reservation, all completely ignored, forcing me to drive three hours to confirm in person. Even after this, Stix utterly failed to respond to repeated attempts to finalize the menu and party size. Shockingly, we only confirmed the event was even happening when someone called to inquire, and the staff disclosed private event details over the phone--a serious breach of trust.On the day of the event, we arrived at a filthy outdoor venue with dirty floors, chairs, and tables, and no tablecloths, despite explicit prior communication that they would be provided. Basic necessities like silverware, plates, and glasses were absent, requiring us to repeatedly plead for them. The food--appetizers, main course, and dessert--was delivered all at once on a table in the sun, causing the desserts to melt, making them unappealing and difficult to enjoy, an unacceptable oversight. Our party of 28 was left to a single, overworked server who was tasked with serving multiple large tables and cleaning up afterward. Despite her tireless efforts, she was overwhelmed, and we stepped in to help with cleanup and other tasks to ease her burden. Event manager Kyleigh, main manager Jennifer Tocco, and staff never greeted us or uttered a single word to us that day, ignoring us completely about our concerns or the event's issues, leaving us entirely abandoned.Spending over $1,000 for such deplorable service was an outrage and a heartbreak. I share this out of a sincere hope that Stix will confront these failures and make drastic improvements--responsive communication, meticulous preparation, proper venue conditions, and sufficient staffing are non-negotiable. For anyone planning a special event, I strongly advise avoiding Stix to protect your day from similar neglect and disappointment. read more

My friend & I thought we were attending a Guess Who concert, which we were unaware had been canceled. We drove from Grand Rapids which takes 90 minutes. We walked outside the very lovely area, when I spoke to a very kind woman. She explained about the cancellation, checked to ensure my friend was reimbursed for the tickets & graciously told us dinner was on her! By the way, her name was Sue. We went into the restaurant, were seated at a lovely booth & met our wonderful waiter, Jasper, who took excellent care of us! I ordered a cup of lobster bisque soup, which was excellent, along with the New England crab cakes. My friend ordered the fried perch, both meals were delicious! When Sue said to take care of us, Jasper certainly did with a smile & attentive care. We loved walking outside & I naturally took photos to remember our experience. Went here for dinner and did not realize it was a whole nights worth of entertainment! There is bowling, there is a restaurant & bar, there is an outdoor seating area and bar as well. The outdoor area had cornhole, yard size connect four and Jenga. This place was really cool! I ordered their fish dinner and it was excellent! Had a few cocktails and they were good too! It was a little pricey, but not terrible. I would like to go back and bowl next time. This place is a great couples or families night out! read more

Ate lunch at Styx today. On my wife's menu Fried Shrimp costs $12, on my menu it costs $15. We asked waitress, she checks with manager, Fried Shrimp $15. No accommodation for their mistake. Also, menu says Styx Pizza $12, pepperoni included. We received the check and it included an upcharge for pepperoni on the pizza. Buyer beware. Read your check before you pay it. read more

Took out of town friends there for dinner. Went early and during the week to beat the crowds. They enjoyed seeing the beautiful venue. However, our food left room for improvement. I had the pecan crusted whitefish, which I have always enjoyed in the past. This time, however, there was no sauce on it. My husband's bbq ribs were so tough he could barely cut them with a knife and incredibly dry (wondering what happened to the well know pit master that came last winter?). I had a great steak but on one occasion I ordered perch and instead of filets I got chunks of fish, over breaded. I ordered a southern comfort manhattan and I did not recognize it. Our waitress brought me another to replace it and it was almost similar. Finally, the waitress said I can make one and she came back with a real manhattan! We had reservations for Easter, which seamed to confuse people, after seated we watched 7 different employees walk by our empty table. We were never acknowledged so couldn't order even water. I have been to Stix several times, and each time it has been great. The sail wedge salad, with the house-made bleu cheese dressing is superb. I have had the New York strip steak and the pecan encrusted whitefish, both of which were excellent. The pecan encrusted whitefish is perfect - and has the potential to become the signature dish for Stix. I would highly recommend it to any seafood lover. The atmosphere is unique to any other restaurant in Ludington, with the perfect balance of casual and formal. I have dined in both the downstairs dining room and the upstairs area. As someone who grew up in Ludington, Stix is a breath of fresh air. In the summer, this place will be hopping so I would plan on calling ahead in the summer months to see if they are able to make a reservation first. A note on the name - Stix Bar was a notorious dive bar in Ludington for many years prior to the opening of this restaurant. The restaurant and the dive bar could not be farther apart in terms of quality and atmosphere. Although the name has remained the same, everything else has changed. I look forward to many meals at Stix over the coming years. Ludington has lacked a place for a more formal celebratory meal since the closure of P.M. Steamers, and many years before, the Gibbs Family Restaurant. Stix is poised to continue the legacy of those places and fits a need for Ludington that has been lacking for decades. I cannot wait to return this summer to check out the outdoor space that will open once the weather gets nicer. I suggest you do the same. read more

Stopped in today after church with 4 other guests for the 1st time trying their Sunday brunch on the porch. We have eaten other meals here that have been exceptional...but the brunch was unremarkable at best. Four of us ordered the Lobster - Shrimp roll which was cold, it had only a spoonful of lobster, way too much bread and only a few shrimp. I would rate it only about a 3 on a scale of 10. There were only a few bites of coleslaw & the French fries were also cold Our waiter Jasper was not attentive to our needs and we spent a long time waiting on our food and our bill. Visited Stix last week and looking forward to returning this weekend. This is a very modern restaurant which we loved, we were greeted and seated immediately at a high top by the bar. Our waitress was very attentive and very friendly, wish I could remember her name! But she was definitely an asset to this location. We ordered our food and drinks we were delivered in good time, we ordered a salad and the noodles, both meals were delicious but the blackened chicken added to both was absolutely amazing.
