The atmosphere here really steps into it's hot dog challenge. The walls are stacked with plaques to people getting the minimum 12 or greater. The building is an older building, but it has nice big windows giving it a bright and airy feeling. I order the Bacon Cheddar Dog Basket ($12). This is two Corner Bar Dogs smothered with chili sauce and piled high with freshly shredded cheddar cheese and a hickory smoked bacon strip. These were good, but I didn't see what the big deal was. I think maybe if they wrapped the dog in bacon it would have helped, also I didn't taste the chili in it. The fries were good, however they were nothing special. Just properly fried standard crinkle fries. I also got a Bavarian Dog ($6). This is a ¼ lb grilled bratwurst topped with stone ground mustard and kraut on a steamed pretzel bun. I enjoyed this dog more. This dog with the others topping would have been a hit for me. They also have a large selection of Root Beers. The 2 I tried were CICERO Salted Caramel Root Beer and DANG! Butterscotch Root Beer. Both were unique and delicious. The service was friendly and okay. However they got busy after I ordered and I felt forgotten. I needed another drink and I couldn't order it till they brought my bill. Overall a 3 1/2 star review, that I'll round up to 4 stars. Would I return? Yes, with a caveat. I would need to already be in the area.

What do you say about a historic, beloved part of downtown Rockford? This place is just the best. The food is what you'd expect from a small town bar/pub, but the atmosphere and the nostalgia are top notch. While it could have struggled after the reconstruction after the fire, this place has come back alive and well, and it is poised to stand for generations to come as the best family restaurant in Rockford and the area. Always grateful for an evening at the Corner Bar. If you haven't checked it out yet, now's your time. P.S. Some day I will defeat the 12 dog challenge and get my name on the wall. Some day.

My husband said this was a hometown staple and I HAD to have the hotdogs and boy was he right. Not much of a hot dog person but these were the exception. They actually have a wall of fame for your name and hometown if you are able to eat 12 hot dogs buns and all. I was stuffed after two. We learned that the original bar burned down so the building was remodeled and they did an amazing job. Street parking, can order for an outside window in the event you wanted to take your meal to go and enjoy the local park. If you want to eat in the restaurant was accessible without steps and it is two floors but had an elevator so that was fun. Went to the second floor found love music, bar and open air seating. Very nice for a the summer nights. Reasonable pricing on drinks and food. Took a rex mex salad to go for lunch the next day. Wide variety of food and drinks choices. Glad we stopped.

Went for lunch during peak lunch time. All servers are very friendly, and it seems they help each other to try and get all guests taken care of. What I liked: - great kids menu where you select the main, sides, drinks very reasonable $5.99. - crinkled fries crunchy - definitely family friendly Things that were just ok: - Reuben sandwich appears huge, due to size of bread. But there's not much corned beef, and the corned beef appears to be processed thin sliced deli meat, not frsh cooked corned beef. Things I didn't care for: - stunned that a hot dog place doesn't grill them. Great to have boil/steamed dogs for kids, but mot for adults unless requested. - upgrade to deep fried mushrooms, $3.99, were soggy batter on bottom - only 2 choices for how to cook burgers: pink or brown. No rare or medium-rare option given

Nothing like the whole tub of ice cream showing up on your table!

We went to The Corner Bat after a baseball tournament. Our party had 10 excited 10 year old boys who just won their Memorial Day tournament, 6 sisters, 5 moms, 6 dads. KEITH took charge of the boys and made it a dinner to remember. He was playful, silly, attentive, and patient. Thank you KEITH for leaning into the chaos. We really felt you were a gift to our boys.

I've been coming here since I was a kid, so more than 20 years. Every time I come back for a visit, I try and stop into the Corner Bar. It's changed quite a bit since I was a kid, especially with the rebuild after the fire but one thing has always remained rhetorical same, the best deep fried pickles you'll ever eat! The service is always quick and friendly, and the place has a home town feel with all their hot dog eating plaques on the wall. They also have plenty of space for large parties. I will always recommend people give this place a try!

Riding the Fred Meijer Trail and wanting a place for lunch that was not right on the bike path - we chose the Corner Bar. Large eating area and a super large kitchen visible when you come in off Courtland, like we did. Cubs were playing the Cards in London - we sat at the bar to watch the game and enjoy our lunch. I ordered the Drink of the Month - a rhubarb margarita. I was surprised that on the 24th day of the month, the guy behind the bar needed to pull out a recipe card to make the drink - I think he was new to bartending. Rick ordered a flavorless grilled bratwurst with the blandest tasting sauerkraut he has ever experienced. Kudos to them - it must have been home made - because commercially produced sauerkraut has more flavor. The brat was dotted with stone ground mustard on top of the bland sauerkraut - which means the mustard flavor never got to mingle with the bratwurst. Bun was fresh and the fries were ok. I had the Traverse City Chicken Salad. Dried Michigan cherries with greens, mandarin oranges, bleu cheese and a small piece of grilled chicken breast laid on the top. I'm going to cut up the chicken breast anyway - you could make the salad more appealing by placing the slices of the chicken breast across the salad instead of tossing it on the top. The poppy seed dressing was not too thick - complemented the salad quite well. Had a great conversation with some other Cubs fans at the bar - wonderful ambience - average food. Will not make a special trip back.

Had one of the better experiences, ever, today at TCB. Walked in, was seated immediately and shortly thereafter greeted by our Server (Z.). Z was very friendly, polite and informative. We placed our order and waited patiently. My daughter got the pulled pork sandwich and I had chili dogs. The reason for less than 5-stars is because her plate was missing French fries, mine was missing coleslaw, and her sandwich advertised as having coleslaw had none. Any of those infractions alone, could have kept the fifth star but three things require the demerit. The place looks great, with what looks like new and better sized tables. We enjoyed our food and Z. was a great server having tracked down our missing food items. Go and try to get your name on the wall.

Coney Combo with an added coney

I haven't been to the Corner Bar since I was young and we would stop in for coneys whenever we found ourselves on the north side of GR. Now with my wife and my own daughter, we found ourselves up here and I wanted to relive the experience, in their new location. Since they rebuilt the restaurant, it's much nicer but it obviously lost the history. Our server was quick and friendly and our food arrived in a timely manner. I had the coney dog combo and added a 3rd coney. They definitely aren't my favorite coneys in Grand Rapids but they get the job done. It's more of the nostalgia of having a classic coney at the Corner Bar that makes everything enjoyable. I love the crinkle fries and I enjoyed the coleslaw. This is a place to hangout and socialize with friends/family. As long as you don't have high expectations for anything better than slightly above average bar food, you'll enjoy it.

Upstairs loft at The Corner Bar.

We recently rented the upstairs loft for a rehearsal dinner. Corner Bar far exceeded our expectations. They took the time to sit with us and provide samples of food prior so we could set the menu. They set the rooms up to our specifications. And, their staff was so pleasant and accommodating not just during the event but in set up and take down as well. John was exceptional and we were so pleased at our choice to utilize The Corner Bar for our dinner. We highly recommend! Thank you, John and staff. You outdid yourselves and we could not be happier!

It's popular but food is very mediocre. Last visit we waited to be served for 25 min. No contact at all from wait service. We left.

I called to discuss with management this morning but feel like our conversation fell short of understanding or resolution. I would like to note that I have never left a bad review and have certainly never reached out to contact owners, managers or staff of any establishment but feel this matter needs attention. Please allow me to explain. Last night 4/9, my sisters, grandmothers & I went to a performance at Devos in GR. After the show we researched and discussed options of where we could eat at that time of night. We had several options but my sister mentioned the great food at the Tavern. Your website advertised family friendly late night dining. We called from the parking garage to confirm Kitchen hours and were told 11:30pm so we headed that way, arriving 10:30-10:40. One of our grandmothers is blind and 89 years old so we helped her up the steps and led her to a low table in the back. Our waitress took our drink orders and when we asked for menus she said that she did not know if we could still order food and checked her watch. We mentioned that we called ahead and they said the kitchen would be open until 11:30. She returned to the table with menus and let us know that we could only order from the appetizer menu of fried food at that time of night (no problem) we are not difficult customers. We ordered 8+ appetizers for our table of 5. Our waitress checked her watch consistently throughout our time there. We appreciated the quality of the food and willingness to accommodate us at a clearly inconvenient time of night for trying to catch a bite. Half way through our meal a song played that would make even the most vulgar squirm if they were at dinner with their grandmothers. It would have been horrible in any situation but we tried to carry on conversation to distract from what was happening. I ended up waiting it out on the bathroom to get away from the entire situation. My sister (27) said that it was the most uncomfortable moment of her life and a night we certainly won't forget. I did not see a jukebox and at the time thought it must have been an employee trying to run us off as there's no possible way it would be on a Playlist. The next day I still felt that the situation was totally unacceptable as we could have visited a number of other restaurants between Grand Rapids and Midland. The majority of us from Montcalm Co. So I called to speak with management. She explained that it must have been a customer playing from the jukebox and that there is no way for staff or management to control what customers can play on the jukebox. She said that she has also been surprised by a few of the selections so I mentioned the specific song, a version of my neck my back (the most sexually explicit song possible). I find it hard to believe that there is no way to override the system or simply change the song. Are you telling me that a smartass 14 year old boy could play this song on a weekday afternoon while he's there with family and there's nothing you can do about it? I find that very hard to believe. She reiterated that there is no way to control it and hoped for a better experience next time. She did say that if I called back with waitress information she could address the service we experienced. Is this possible that there's nothing staff, management or owner can do to prevent or stop such a thing? Would you enjoy a dinner with your family with a slowed down version of this song playing louder than conversation can overpower?

They have a smaller dining space, so a reservation is recommended (you have to call, no online option) but when we arrived, they were ready and seated us promptly! We each got some sort of steak, potato and veggie combo and it was all VERY delicious! They offer you complementary homemade bread (this did take a bit of time, but they were warm when they came out) and we easily devoured it! I will say that it was a little slower than anticipated, but still very good. I would hope the bread would come out sooner than our appetizers. I ordered the caesar salad (very large) and included bleu cheese which was not listed on the menu. I would definitely list that on the menu unless it was an accident? We got bleu cheese on the bruschetta which listed another cheese, so again, I do think that they need to disclose this. I like it but most do not! I also ordered the $29 steak deal, which for the size and meal, I am very happy with! I ordered it medium rare and it was cooked properly. More rare than medium, which is how I like it! I think I'd like to come back and try it again, but for a good steak meal, it's approachable without feeling like it's TOO casual with peanuts on the ground. Parking is available across the street, but you do have to cross West River Drive, which can be a lot, but cars were patient while we made our way across. I'll definitely be back!

We had a reservation, which is highly recommended as it's not a huge space. You do have to call to make a reservation. The space is cozy and not super fancy, which made it comfortable for a long girls' dinner with lots of catching up. Some of us started with salads and an appetizer. They also gave us some complimentary rolls and butter. My Caesar salad was fresh and tasty, and a large portion for a side, but it had a lot of blue cheese crumbles, which wasn't listed on the menu. I personally love blue cheese, so I didn't mind, but it's a pretty polarizing ingredient so it surprised me a bit. The bruschetta was a really big portion and very delicious. I liked the amount of topping and the bread help up nicely. This dish also had blue cheese crumbles on it when we tried it. The steak menu is interesting and varied, and I like that all the cuts come with a potato and vegetable side, which isn't typical at fancier places. I went with the 10 oz barrel cut filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and I also ordered a side of the mac and cheese. Our main courses took a little bit of time to come out, but I was pleased with the meal. My medium rare filet was definitely more on the rare side, but I didn't mind. The mac and cheese was tasty but the sauce was a bit broken. It also had peas in it... not listed on the menu and also kind of weird. I liked it though! We were interested in the dessert options, but it sounded like they haven't really rounded that out yet as they just had a couple cupcakes. Our server was very kind and helpful and pretty attentive. I think the value is great and it's a less stuffy, more casual option than Chop House (plus more affordable). I will definitely be back!
