    Cowboy burger
    Jennifer M.

My husband asked me to put it an order and he would pick it up on his way home from work for dinner. He wanted a Cowboy Burger with a side of loaded fries (cheese and bacon). I was told that they can't do that because they don't have bacon. I asked then if the Cowboy burger would have bacon on it like it says and the woman on the phone said "Yes, I would have told you if we didn't have bacon". I was confused and asked then why we couldn't have bacon added to his fries and she said "because we don't have chopped bacon or in shreds or anything like that". I didn't want to explain how to cut bacon with a knife so we skipped the loaded fries. I ordered the grilled cheese burger. Husband got home and the burger patty was clearly a frozen meat patty. It had foamy consistency and a definite frozen out of a box taste. Both burgers. He did have one small strip of bacon though! Menu said pickle on the side and we got chips, whatever, but we both spit the pickles out because they were SO briney. My husband had been here before and was given the same run around about putting cheese and bacon on fries. He was told they didn't have bacon. He pointed to the gentleman at the next table and said "he has bacon on his plate". Do yourself a favor and go north on 231 and stop at Turks!! I have 5 kids and don't have time to write reviews but I thought the next possible patron deserves my time.

Monday wet beef burrito special for $7.99 (this was the small portion - HUGE)

Great, remodeled bar / restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Has a sports bar feel - decent sized bar with TVs throughout. They have weekly specials - we thought we would try the Monday wet burrito for $7.99 - so good! Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed the perch dinner and the nachos. Perch fillets were nice and big. The nachos were enough for my wife and me.

One of the first things we appreciated was that they were open later than many of the other places in town. Their menu was remarkable, with plenty of interesting choices and a couple of unexpected bonuses. The minute I saw fried green tomatoes, I knew I had to get them -- and they did not disappoint! I also had an Odd Side IPA, which was honestly the best beer I had during our entire trip. We also tried the fish and frites, as they call them, and they were delicious. The service was friendly and welcoming, and we even had the chance to meet the owner, who was there making sure everything was running smoothly. You can tell there is a lot of pride put into this place. The atmosphere is just as memorable as the food. The décor has a really cool, unique vibe, with old doors and windows incorporated throughout. I especially loved the wall of photos of previous patrons, hope to make it to the wall one day -- such a fun idea and something that gives the tavern a lot of personality. All in all, I give Unicorn Tavern SIX stars out of five! It was a great stop, a great find, and definitely a place we would visit again if we're ever back in Grand Haven. Keep up the great work, Unicorn Tavern!

The indoor/ outdoor space blends together in the warmer months with cool hangout spaces and game areas. This place is truly a work of art. Drink lists abound, but because it was lunchtime we stuck to food. We were not disappointed. Everything was well conceived and delicious. I can't wait to come back and try the bone bread next time, stew and scrumptious sounding salads. Today we had the kids smash burger, Brussels burger with frites and fried haddock and frites with a delicious coleslaw. The best part? Different sauces to choose to dip the fries in. The curry ketchup was the best (special shout out for *actually* cooking the curry into the ketchup) as it did not taste of raw curry. They definitely don't cut corners here. We noticed, and we appreciated it. We will be back.

Spacious, clean, and so many delicious options it's hard to choose. I ended up with a burger with mayo and green olives, basic but really tasty. Saltiness from toppings enhanced the beefy patty. Homemade chips were good too. My friend's changed her order after seeing the country fried steak delivered to another table, so glad she did. It's big and tasty! Breaded seasoned very well and country gravy peppered nicely. Our server Carmella was just wonderful and shared with us her grandmother was the manager of the original 76 Diner (I forget where) and her manager worked for her grandmother! How cool is that? Lots of TVs showing a mixture of everything, lots of tables and booths plus a classic diner U shaped counter. You can tell the staff enjoy their job as all were smiling, I spied one dancing to some song playing. Yet everyone was hustling. It's connected to a convenience store for snacks, coffee, grab and go hot food, liquor, slushy drinks. You name it, they have it and more. Even slushy apple cider! I wanted to try it out but was already feeling cold so I got coffee instead. Definitely stop in to relax and eat! This is now on our favorite stops when traveling!
