Great service and atmosphere! A small town pub fell and the owner was out with the customers.

It was freezing in there. Between the windows and the doors opening there was a constant freezing draft. A woman even went to the standing heater and said her feet were frozen. It was clean inside, bathrooms were freezing and the inside itself was small. The parking sucked and for handicapped people would not be good at all. They did have a ramp but no close handicap places so we had to walk across a very slippery parking lot. The parking was very limited. This alone would not be a reason for returning. The mushrooms were huge and lightly breaded. They were good but I would prefer the smaller size. Personal preference and again they were good. The Reuben sandwich was very good (husband had it) and up sized to fries which were also good. I had the pot roast sandwich with waffle chips. The sandwich was amazing (I added onions & gr peppers). The waffle fries were evidently the bottom of the bag because they were all small pieces which I couldn't even hold onto to dip in the French onion dip which I paid extra for. The wet burrito was very good (son in law had this). The pasta carbonara was not good (daughter had) and the garlic bread came with a large black hair across it. The employees were very apologetic and of course by the time she got her new pasta we were all done eating & freezing. It was her birthday meal so it was disappointing. They did comp her meal so there is that. All in all it was good not great and did I mention FREEZING? The server was very slow in coming around and we had to track her down to get our check. She was pleasant as were the other employees we came into contact with. Because of location & parking we will not return but the sandwiches would be worth it if it were not for that. read more

I've frequented this restaurant many times and never had any issues. The customer service was always excellent, the food quality was consistent and good, and they truly seemed to stand by their motto of exceptional service. That's why I was genuinely shocked by our experience today, Mother's Day. My spouse noticed they were offering a brunch special, so we decided to stop by around 12:15 pm. We expected it might be crowded because of the holiday, but surprisingly there were only about 5 or 6 small tables occupied when we arrived. We placed our order within about five minutes of sitting down. The first odd moment came when my spouse asked for milk for his coffee instead of creamer, and the waitress told him they didn't have milk. A restaurant not having milk available was already surprising, but we let it go. Then we waited. And waited. The table in front of us had ordered just a couple minutes before we did, and they ordered the exact same items, a burrito and French toast. We know this because overheard the waitress when she brought their food. They received their food, finished eating, paid, and left, while we still had nothing. By around 1:00 pm, a lot more people had started coming in, and at that point we had enough. We asked for the bill for the coffee, and the waitress apologized and said the kitchen was "backed up." She told us not to worry about paying for the coffee, and we left around 1:03 pm. What makes this experience so frustrating is that the restaurant was not busy when we ordered. There's no reasonable explanation for why a table ordering nearly the exact same meal right before us was fully served and gone while we sat there for almost an hour with nothing. I've honestly never been so disappointed by an experience at a restaurant I used to enjoy so much. read more

Great atmosphere if you like local bars , this place has been resurrected with great food options and a nice tap list . Prices are reasonable and quality is high . I had the perch , which are some of the best around lightly battered and tasty , so many places over batter their fish but this was just right ! My wife loved her burger , large beer was only 7:50 for an Oberon light , while the tall Tito's and diet for my wife was priced right too. We can't wait for their steakhouse to open Next door .... I've been here a few times and the food is always good. Tonight I tried the smoke pork chop. It's a big pork chop with lots of flavor and was very juicy. The apple chutney is ok. The sweet potatoes were good and it also came with asparagus. It's a nice portion for the price. It was one of the best pork chops I've had at a restaurant. I really like this place. read more

Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Good prices. Very generous beers. We didn't order food but it looked great. The place was busy and we loved the neighborhood feel. But honestly, what impressed me the most was when I stopped in the women's restroom on the way out. Sitting on the counter was a large basket of FREE pads and tampons. Not a machine that you had to drop coins in and hope it wasn't empty. We've been to hundreds of breweries and bars and I have never seen that. Maybe to some it's a small thing. To me it was huge and I'm well beyond needing those things. That kind of thoughtfulness speaks volumes. Well done and it's one of the reasons we'll be back. read more

Grabbed a quick lunch at Mill Creek the other day, and was definitely impressed. They've got pub style favorites, but done with a bit of an upscale twist, and it was honestly a challenge to decide what to even order--there were so many tempting options. We started with the fried mushrooms, which were big and juicy, but the batter was also somehow still perfectly crispy. The dipping sauce was totally addictive. I got a bacon jam burger after much indecision, and it was pretty darn perfect. I upgraded to the fries, and they were golden and hot. My dining partner (who had the good sense to pick this spot) got the Ahi Tuna tacos, and despite the tastiness of the burger I still had some envy. They looked amazing, and she reported they were excellent. (Also, in case you're wondering, our server noted there has been some confusion on this point, the tuna is just seared, and otherwise not cooked through.) Mill Creek also has meal options for the kiddos too. This would be a great place to gather or check out a game, without having to settle on the food. read more

As shown in the attached receipt, I ordered breakfast as they are new to the breakfast business in the area. It's a bit pricy to me but here we go. Several places on the menu it mentions "hash". But what it should say is hash browns. I was expecting corned beef hash. I ordered my eggs over medium. They were cooked well past that. The menu and the receipt show 2 of each of the ham, sausage, and bacon. Bacon was way undercooked and lots of fat that could have been cooked more. I never received any sausage at all. Didn't see the waitress enough to mention it to her. Once I had my second cup of coffee, no more refills were offered. Place really wasn't busy either, while I was there. So at this point, I will say that I probably won't go back. read more

The bacon jam burger and seasoned fries are the BEST I have had in my last 5 years in GR! Seriously! Interesting place we used to go there in the past and then heard it became a steak place. We were actually very excited to go. We went on a Saturday. I believe it was around one. The bartender was our waitress of blonde lady very rude pretty short with us for no reason. The first three things we wanted to order they were out of. So we settled on something else, and when that came, that was less than good to say the least another lady brought the food and kind of filled in by the bartender just hung out at the bar chatting to nobody in particular. Wet burrito w/o beans. Very little cheese, almost zero, and cold additions. I could not eat 1/2 of this entree. This was terrible, but it was the second time, in two visits I was disappointed. Never will we go back. I left the waitress an $18 tip, but I don't think the quality was her fault. We will never return and I believe you should skip this tavern with bad food!!!! read more

As my friends start moving away from downtown, I've found myself discovering new to me places in different parts of town, which is fun! I recently met a friend at Mill Creek Tavern for dinner on a weeknight. This spot is a warm and welcoming neighborhood tavern that is recently under new ownership. I wasn't sure where to park, because it didn't seem like there was a dedicated parking lot. I parked just down the block a bit in a parking lot that didn't have any signage and it seemed to be fine. The main bar area is open and bright. I was seated right away and I started browsing the menu. I was torn because I wanted a healthier option but also fries, because I love fries! The menu is mostly typical bar fare - lots of burgers, some sandwiches, a couple salads, and some dinner plates. My friend ordered the perch platter and a side salad, and I got the smoked chicken burrito which our server recommended. Our food came out pretty quickly and it looked great. The perch and fries looked amazing, but my friend said it wasn't the best she'd ever had. The side salad was a large portion and did come out before the entrees, which was nice for timing. The burrito was really big, which I expected. The toppings and ingredients inside the burrito all seemed fresh, but the accompanying tortilla chips were a bit stale. The burrito was tasty and I really liked the smoked chicken, which was pretty unique. However the amount of beans kind of threw off the ratio for me. I liked the flavor of the beans, but it was a bit much for me. I was only able to eat half at the time, but the leftovers were great. I just wished it had a bit more chicken. My friend and I ended up hanging out for a bit after dinner just catching up and chatting, and the servers were great on checking up on us and refilling our waters until we left. Overall this was a nice little neighborhood spot and I'd come back to try some other items - the burgers seem to be their specialty. read more

I was craving a Bloody Mary and chicken wings on a Saturday around lunch, and I happened to be near Mill Creek with my two kids. I thought it would be a great time to stop in and see how the place had changed with the new owners. At noon on a Saturday it wasn't packed but there were a decent amount of people there - lots of TV's with games on. We sat at a high-top near the front windows and the bartender was our server. She was attentive and on top of us, even thought she ended up with a bar full of people. I was excited to have her ask if I liked my bloody spicy when I ordered it and it was very good, so that was a good way to start off! The kids got their usually grilled cheese and chicken tenders - no complaints from them. I saw pickle fries under their appetizers and had to try them because, yum. They were good! Pickles thinly sliced, battered, deep fried with ranch - I'd get them again! They also came with a LOT of them. I got the boneless wings with both buffalo and garlic parmesan sauce - i was not expecting the sauce to be on the side, as the menu said tossed in our homemade sauces... so that was disappointing. The chicken was not overly breaded and was moist, so that was good. My SIL jointed us and got the chicken Cesar salad and said it was good. Menu is not huge and it is typical American pub fare but it looked good. I'd be interested to try some of the sandwiches and others apps that looked good! We stopped in for an early dinner. Fernando, our waiter was engaging and professional. He truly seemed to be having a great time. Although the cooks got our order slightly wrong, it was fantastic! The olive burger was the best I have ever had! Later Friday night, we were listening to music and it was pretty crowded. I was disappointed to hear a waiter make several passive/aggresive remarks to customers about "trying to get through" and how they were "making it impossible for him to work." I understand his frustration, as I waited tables for 8 years. Bitch in the back room or vent to the cook, but keep it out of the dining area! When I was leaving, I made room for him to pass. He let me pass and then, in a cutting tone, remarked, "You can go, I'm just trying to work here." You can be frustrated, but keep the snarky comments in the back room. read more

I have visited here twice in the last 10 days. You may just drive on by, but I suggest you don't! Parking is down the side driveway in the the back. The service! Great. The cocktails! Great! The food! Great. And it's consistent. We have had the wings, chicken egg rolls, tomato bisque soup, and chicken strips. The food is made FRESH and flavorful. The portions are generous. Really like Mill Creek. The food is good. Typical pub food, but they do it very well. We get the nachos regularly, but have thoroughly enjoyed the Reuben and my husband loves their mushrooms. My only complaint is the volume of the music. It is so loud you can't have a conversation with the people at your own table. The servers have even asked us to repeat our order. I understand it's a bar, but that doesn't mean you have to have it so loud you can't think. It seriously makes me reconsider returning, and that's disappointing because it's a favorite place for us. read more

Mill Creek Tavern was a favorite place of mine 15 years ago, and coming back after moving into the area again brought back all the feelings of nostalgia I missed. Christina, Marissa and Karen were terrific while my wife and I had dinner and a few drinks. The bartenders kept the rail and bottles pristinely clean while working, the food was portioned well and had the perfect temperature. Customer service there is outstanding because they made us feel like "regulars". 5* of 5* My wife and I will return! read more
