Night before thanksgiving and went after work for a couple hours to enjoy some live music. The parking lot was packed but thankfully the venue itself is bigger than it looks from the outside and there was plenty of room even though it was a packed house. We were excited to catch the group "Rock The Covers" as they rocked out and played some great songs. We ordered some food (heard good things about the burgers so I went with the Chipotle burger and it did not disappoint! Love this place! My husband's grandma used to go dancing at the log cabin. It's been around forever and it's such a great local bar. They have live music every weekend and it's a laid-back crowd that likes to dance. We had my husbands retirement party there and it was a great time for all. Good food and good service. This place grows on me more every time I visit. It's a blue collar dive with a log cabin theme. They just remodeled a bit and opened up the seating area some. I've seen live shows here (usually classic rock/80s covers) and the sound system is actually quite advanced for a GR bar. For the first time last night I ordered a burger. The burger was more than above average for standard bar far. It was the cajan burger, and as advertised had some kick to it (usually I'm pretty disappointed with "hot" items in places like this). The bun was fresh and you could tell the meat was not from a frozen patty. It's on south division so with that can come some interesting people, but the Log Cabin is SE gem for sure and one of my favorite stops in town. read more

The place has changed since I've been there last. Of course that was 30 years ago. They have updated the place quite nicely. Circle bar in the middle and plenty of seating everywhere. Went on a Saturday afternoon and there were a few people there to watch the UofM game. Got an appetizer to start. Bacon wrapped mozzarella sticks. Yup, as good as they sound. Took a picture as soon as I could and my wife still got 2 out of the basket before I got the picture taken. She was hungry. Now they were just your typical sticks, nothing special. But with them deep fried with bacon wrapped around them, surprisingly very good. Now everything took a bit longer than expected, but they did only have one person tending bar and one person cooking. I didn't mind. Next we ordered a super sub with rings and a Rueben with fries. Again, just your typical fries and rings, but they were fried to perfection. My wife liked her sandwich and I liked mine. Overall, a very good meal with a few memories thrown in. read more

Unfortunately my most recent lunch experience there was not as pleasant as I was hoping for. Unfortunately the male barkeep kept coughing into his hands several times not very good sanitary practices when you're handling food and/ drinks and lemon and drinks possibly silverware etc. etc. I hope he uses soap and water after he uses the restroom but I suspect not.The item I purchased for lunch was good although it wasn't quite prepared the way I asked for it to be prepared but not a big deal just slightly overcooked.... read more

Whooeee what a dive! Expect to see some MidWestern rednecks missing a few teeth shaking their groove thing to the band. Actually, makes for some good people watching! Alway's seems to be a log jam at the good Log Cabin... If you decide to come to this little music dive on the weekends it gets packed... Ton's of parking in the back and side lots tho. It's a dive bar but a good ol' blue collar no bullshit dive... Kind of an older crowd but still a decent mix of folks. It has an island shaped bar in the main room and tons of tables all over the place. And yes it does sort of resemble a log cabin in some ways. I have always had a good time here and the drink prices are solid. No cover, open mic night's, and ton's of bands... This place has been around since the 1930's so it has tons of character and charm. This is my husbands and my favorite watering hole. It's harder to get out there since we have moved half hour away. Connie is the night bartender and Matt is the owner but also bartends. They are both awesome and down to earth. Great selection of bar food with fair pricing. Drinks are strong but not enough to burn going down. Live music, trivia or some type of entertainment all the time! You must stop in, if you don't you will for sure be missing out! read more
