Went on a Monday night to check out the remodel of the bar . I know it's been awhile since they refreshed but this was our first opportunity to. We found the space clean , new floors, paint , new felt on pool tables . It was very welcoming with regulars at the bar for happy hour on a snowy day . Great bar selection and beer list , cocktails were a nice pour . Everything you'd expect from a neighborhood bar . All the normal bar fair , burgers wraps , Mexican and salads . We had the olive burger and a wrap , fries accompanied the wrap and they were excellent. I added a side salad to my burger which is an inexpensive upgrade . Nice size tossed salad and fresh ingredients. Our server was very attentive but not too much , just right ! We enjoyed the visit and will be back read more

The atmosphere here is very Sports Bar with a heavy lean to the bar side. Overall a very generic feel to the place. I came here because I heard they have good burgers. I ordered the Western Burger ($14). This has Cheddar cheese, thick-cut honey-cured bacon, beer battered onion rings, sweet bbq sauce. The burger was good. The meat was tender, however it was far from wow. While the meat was tender it wasn't standout in taste. So definitely above average, just not great. I upgraded the side to a side salad ($2). This time it was very ehh. Not much crunch and just boring, even for a salad. I also ordered the Scotch Eggs ($8.5). These are Hard-boiled eggs wrapped in pork sausage, coated in breadcrumbs, and fried, served with honey mustard. These were interesting, but also kinda blah. They need something added to them with a little heat. The person I was with ordered the Black and Bleu Burger ($14). This consisted of a Blackened patty, gorgonzola crumbles, thick-cut honey-cured bacon, mayo. The Burger was declared to be okay, but bland. This was surprising for a black & blue burger. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare though. The service again was okay. It was friendly and they tried. It was just inefficient. At one point mustard was asked for and we ended up having to ask another waitress for it. However my drink refills were well done. Overall a 3 1/2 star review. I debated whether to round up or down. However there were too many things of note. So my final grade is 3 stars. Would I return? Sadly no. It is obvious this is a popular place, and maybe it was just a bad day. However there are too many choices for great burgers. This is a pass for me. read more

What a great little sports bar! This is my in-laws' favorite restaurant, so we have visited many times over the years in Rockford. Since our first visit, they have updated the interior and ditched the arcade games and replaced them with nicer decor and fresh paint. It really looks great. But let's be real, that's not why somebody goes to a restaurant. The Vestal is always slammed busy because the food is consistently good, and the staff do a great job. Our family has actually made it a weekly tradition now to do "weeny Wednesdays" because they have a killer deal each Wednesday for $1.50 chili dogs! The food was pretty standard diner/pub type stuff, I'd say a bit above average. Prices aren't small town low, but they're not hipster high either. This place is busy. The front doors look like the back doors. There's no indication of where to go or what to do when you get inside. Picking up an order? Just go to the bar, I guess, if you can find an opening. Onion rings were battered rather than breaded. Good amount of salt. Not mind-blowing, but I didn't regret getting them. Burgers were a good size on a decent bun. However, the Western was a bit dry. You can see from the photo that they barely put a swipe of barbecue sauce in the middle of the burger, leaving me without any sauce for the rest of the burger. Chili cheese tots were good. They were soggy, but that may have been from us keeping them in an insulated container for a while. I appreciated the chili. It wasn't really special, but it was definitely better than the usual chili-from-a-can that a lot of these types of places use. Fries here have a good seasoning on them. Not the best I've had, but definitely worth eating. Beer cheese was good. I recommend it. Overall, the food and prices were decent, as was the service on the phone and at pick-up. We'd come here again, although if you're looking for a place to talk, you definitely don't want to eat in. read more

It is VERY BUSY here every time I'm here. It is a very wild crowd super fun. It is definitely a hole-in-the-wall type of bar, but they have good food! The burgers are great. If you want to take a trip back in time then head on over to the Vestal Inn. This bar looks like it was booming in the 60's and decided not to change the formula. Seating is on fold out type chairs, but that just adds to the ambiance. There is a large clientele of an older clientele, but they know how to throw them back. The vibe is friendly and everyone was smiling and happy. Staff was very friendly and got everyone in our large group drinks quickly. Aside from the bar, there are many things to do at The Vestal. You can play confusing video poker, watch a game on TV or play pull tabs. It is like a country casino! I think they had a pool table, but I was too mesmerized by the gaming machines. They have a full bar and look to offer many drink specials. Beers were like $2.50 each so you aren't going to break the bank here. read more

Under new owners and we say enough great thing! New paint, carpet and easy to dine in while social distancing. Had the Outlaw burger...which is an olive burger, and it was perfection! A typical neighborhood dive bar. There are probably thousands of bars just like this across the United States. I've been here about four or five times in the seven years I've lived in the area. Today, I had to ask the waitress for a knife because I only had a fork for my potato skins. Then, I realized I also had no napkins. The potato skins were good as was my "Nutsy Burger." My iced tea was weak and didn't taste fresh brewed, which was a disappointment. If a restaurant isn't going to serve real iced tea, don't even bother because McDonald's and Wendy's have way better and real fresh brewed iced tea. That's pretty sad when a sit down place where tips are expected get bested by fast food restaurants, but with the iced tea, that's what happened today. I drive by this place twice a day on my commute to and from work and I rarely stop by. It's not bad, just average. I'll probably stop by again in another six months and try the pizza. Stay away from the Vestal Inn. This place is so unapproachable that you will never see it featured as a dive on "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives." This filthy establishment delivered terrible service; unimaginative, tasteless, overpriced bar food; two horrible red wines; dull and dreary atmosphere (like Trivia Thursday will really help so much); and loud, outdated music tracks. Apparently, there is a new manager....as we watched her sit at the bar and leisurely have a beer, after she asked a male customer to haul several deliveries of liquor to the cooler, which happened to be across the room and around several tables of customers. Ha, you could easily drive past this little lounge... It's a local hangout with a few pool tables and a long bar against the wall. Lot's of tables and space. It has a pretty good pizza and good drink prices. It's worth going to with a group. The service was pretty good and the waitress was helpful. It's a dive but a cool come as you are type one.
