Sure, I'd leave places and be like, "I should really do them a solid" but then I just went home and either forgot about it or started doing other stuff. Have gotten really into running since COVID and that's pretty much my favorite topic of discussion (running, not COVID). Had between 15 and 20 Miller Lites over the course of a three-night span here in late June 2026. This place is like Outback Steakhouse in the "no rules, just right" type of way. I do not believe they serve food here but did see bartenders making microwavable popcorn on request to several patrons. So this place is designed with a three-room set-up. You walk in and it's a square carpeted room that can be used for live music. Then you reach the bar area, then there are pool tables. There seemed to be an area behind the pool tables but I was too afraid to go back there. Now in terms of bar design, I would have led with the bar but that's just me and I'm sure the architects (possibly Mike Brady from "The Brady Bunch") knew what they were doing. I tend to trust professionals, apart from what our public health "experts" did to us during the forementioned COVID. This bar is cash only. That's probably in other reviews. Also, if you have AT&T cell service, good luck. There's no service so you can't look up scores and check Instagram. And now you're thinking, "what about the wifi?" C'mon bro, be serious. I love this bar. They have four different TVs in the main bar area that range from 19 to 45 inches. All are on different setups. Antenna, YouTubeTV, etc. The staff is fantastic. Patrick and Katie were my two favorites. Entertaining and straight out of bartending central casting. I was just drinking beers so I can't comment on what like a cocktail or normal-person drink tastes like. Clientele ranges from bachelorette parties to people who have seen some shit. It's a dive bar that never had to try to be a dive bar. You'll read other reviews on this place and they are super granular or longwinded or whatever. Don't pay attention to those bozos. This place is strictly vibes. Did I mention the dropped ceilings have art paintings on them? One even has a Pontiac painted on it. Hell yeah, Michigan. Haven't seen a Pontiac since cars still had cassette tape players in them. I would live there if I could. And I'm a proud Ohioan.

This place has always had a lot of cars parked outside. The bartender says they remodeled the main area during covid and it looks clean and updated. Karaoke space has lots of room unlike some places that want ya to sing in a corner and provide clearance. The main area has one pool table with a king of the hill setup(challenge the winner) of rules next to it which I haven't seen at a lot of bars before. I love the idea of some grizzled pool master holding the table at will and taking on all newcomers. The "pool room" wasn't updated with the rest. While the furniture is dated (and some like it that way), It has two well loved pool tables that haven't been neglected maintenance wise. Overall DJs seems like a well loved bar for Muskegon locals lookin for a song and a game of pool. There's love for veterans here as well.

There was a pool league and the players had almost no space to play their close bumper shout as it was located 1.2 feet from inside the front door-Monday nights are pool tournaments, I attended on a Saturday. The individuals that have the gumption to preform Karaoke are worth the trip to check some of them out. Most all put their heart into the singing and in some cases the dancing and add in the occasional accelerated arm flailing and occasional forward hip thrusting-- As the big spender of the evening I ordered three rounds for three people and I may have cracked the $20.00 check threshold, tip not included. Speaking of which, tip well as the service is excellent and the bartenders are really hustling to get you what you need. We were immediately welcomed upon taking a seat at the bar. We ordered our drinks and they came up quick. A big football game was about to start, so the place filled up not long after we got there. We were never given a food menu, but we saw an ad for hot dogs on the wall. They also had a bunch of snack food available. We noticed Keno, a pool table and a few gambling entertainment machines. There's a lot more to this space than the initial bar area you see when you walk in. Bathrooms were clean, the bill was cheap and the company was great. I'd definitely stop into The Derby again.

I call that "top-shelf grease." If you've never been, grab one of the "mini pitchers" to share with your pizza. They're smaller than your typical pitcher, but they've become our go-to pairing. Skiles has both a restaurant side and a bar side. The bar can get lively depending on the crowd, and with a pool table and TouchTunes, it's a fun place to hang out. They don't have one of the huge sports channel packages, so I wouldn't pick it for trying to watch six different games, but it's a great spot for good food and good company. Arielle took care of us at the bar and was fantastic as always. Friendly, attentive, and one of the reasons we enjoy coming back. One quick tip: don't assume they're open until midnight every night. Like many neighborhood taverns, they'll sometimes close a little early if things slow down. I'll definitely be back. On a special night, prime rib it is. The atmosphere is a dilapidated road side bar. Don't be a snot. Head in and thank god there was room for you. Then order some mini-tacos to snack around on before you ordered real.
