As the saying goes: times heals all. Granted it's just a dive bar but it was a much better experience than the last visit. The bartenders were friendly and attentive and the overall vibe was relaxed. Drink prices were reasonable. Keno still proved to be a waste of money but that's not the bars fault, lol.

Some folks might call this a dive Barr because how dark this joint is. They have a jukebox, pool table and a great dive Barr feel. I love the art on the ceiling. Drinks are reasonably priced served quickly. They have standard bar snacks like pop corn, real jerky and chips. The place feels right. If you're not comfortable in a dive bar type joint, this may not be for you. We loved the place.

This place was a lot of fun. The drink prices are great, the bartenders were friendly and provided quick service and the live music was GREAT! I highly recommend checking out James Reeser and the Back Seat Drivers if you get the chance. We came into Saugatuck to celebrate our anniversary and happened upon The Sand Bar and were not disappointed. While it may not be the most modern, classy joint in town...the patrons and workers all seem to genuinely enjoy themselves which creates the perfect atmosphere to have fun in. There is a pool table in the back, TVs for those that want to watch them, a jukebox full of Blues, a great drink selection and a local cab company that will make sure you get back home safely. The only downside is they take ONLY CASH....but that's not a big deal with ATMs nearby.

    An oasis.

Bartended was an ass. I don't write bad reviews ever, but not a fan of him. Fun place and cool crowd but won't be back.

Walking in we were immediately redirected because we didn't notice the please wait to be seated sign that was outside of the door. It would be nice if the sign had been a little more visible or if we had been redirected more kindly. We were sat immediately and even though I tend to hate high tops, the chairs were sturdy and comfortable. Between myself and my friends we ordered the grilled ham and cheese, the nutty salad, and the burger (with cheddar, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, mayo, ketchup, and mustard). We all loved our food and it came out quickly. I ordered my burger medium-well and it was cooked perfectly. Our server was attentive and made sure to refill our water frequently. At the end of our meal they gave us little cups of animal crackers, which was just the cutest touch! Overall loved and would totally return and recommend.

We grabbed seats at the bar, and the place was full of locals which honestly tells you everything you need to know right there. And not just full... but full of the nicest people. The kind of place where you feel like you belong within five minutes. Now let's talk about Jimmy... WOW. Absolute rockstar behind the bar. Not only was he making amazing drinks, but he was also doing his best to convince us to ditch our dinner reservations and stay honestly, he almost had us The drinks were so good we ended up coming back later that night for dessert... because clearly we weren't done yet. But here's the part that got me I casually mentioned it was my birthday weekend, nothing big... and the NEXT DAY while we were walking around downtown, we look up and there's my name on the marquee wishing me a happy birthday. Like... who does that?! That kind of thoughtfulness is just next level and completely made my day. Phil's isn't just a bar--it's a whole experience. Every time we walked by, it was packed, and after being there... I get it. They're doing a lot right. If you're anywhere near Saugatuck--GO. Sit at the bar, order a drink, and just enjoy it. You'll probably end up staying longer than you planned too

I can imagine if the burger were cooked to medium or medium rare instead of the well done my friend ordered, I too would have called it delicious! I ordered the Mac and Cheese with brisket and candied jalapeños and - what can I say? It was really one of the best things I have ever eaten. The combination of flavors was wonderful and the added crisp of the not-very-hot jalapeños added a tasty texture. Do yourself a favor and go to The Butler and order this. Trust me. I will be back to the restaurant and will probably order Exactly the same dish! Wonderful.

I've been here with small groups and large groups and we have always received great service. The menu states that since everything is made from scratch it might take up to an hour to get your food but it has never taken that long when we have been here. On this visit we started with two orders of nachos, requesting no meat in one order. The nachos here are seriously my favorite that I have ever had from any restaurant. Ingredients include roasted corn, black beans,, red onion, cheese, lettuce, pico, cilantro, and lime chipotle cream, and choice of meats. We ordered ground beef on one order and the other meatless. After the nachos we ordered a Fun Guy pizza and a burrito, which was huge! We all shared the pizza and burrito. We enjoyed goat cheese cheesecake for dessert. It was wonderful. The parking lot is total unkept and the walk out to to the restaurant a little confusing. The building itself is eclectic hodgepodge of signs with a mix of slightly run down building. They like to blast their version of music, but if you sit out towards the end of the dock it's fine. All of this somehow adds charm to this place. I ordered the Barbecue Pulled Pork Sandwich with a side of noodles. I was with my Aunt who was the one who heard about this place. She ordered an Otis Sandwich. The sandwiches are baked so it takes a little while to receive. The 1st thing I have to say is the sandwiches are HUGE. My pulled pork had a ton of meat in it. Felt like 2 ibs. The sandwich was Spectacular, every last bite was super juicy. The sandwich was light on the bbq, you mostly tasted the pork and thats okay because it is amazing pork. The bread it's served on is also amazingly good. The noodles I got were served cold and were good, but also ehh. I took home about 2/3 of it and nuked it later and it was much better. My Aunt also loved her Otis Sandwich. The sandwiches are about $12 with no side, however the sheer size of the sandwiches make it well worth it. The service was mostly good. It was very attentive, just seemed lackadaisical. I think that's were some people get the rude from. Overall this was an easy 5 Stars. That was one of the best sandwiches I've had in years.
