    Fish & Chips (overcooked)

I had seen Ducky Alley in a TicToc video of things to try in Saugatuck. We come here once a year and have our favorites, but we also like to try new things. Upon arriving, we were offered seating in the bar. We grabbed a high table, and soon the waitress (bartender), greeted us. She was super friendly and helpful throughout the evening. We ordered drinks and the short ribs appetizer. The short ribs were amazing, super flavorful. Being "Ducky Alley" we both said we wanted the Duck Fried Rice. The waitress said, that's a lot of food, and suggested we could split one order. My husband agreed, but they ordered the Fish & Chips figuring we could split that too LOL. The Duck Fried Rice was interesting. I believe they intend for it to be the entire duck, but there was only one leg, which was odd. I ate the wings, and half the breast, my husband at the leg and the remaining breast. We broke the egg so it blended in with the rice. All in all, this entre was good, and we licked the plate clean. The fish and chips received mixed reviews. To me, it was overcooked. The breading was a darker brown, not a golden brown, and it was too thick, I got more breading than I would have preferred with every bite. My husband of course was full just with the duck and appetizer, so he took his portion of the fish & chips home to reheat two days later. He claimed it was really good reheated. I'd give the staff five stars, the duck four stars, the fish & chips 3 stars, the appetizer 5 stars, and the atmosphere 4 stars. I'm sure we will return.

Food is creative and delicious. Drinks, entrees, appetizers are all out of the ordinary Nice change of pace from common fare. Similar but with a twist to your ordinary meal. Ambiance is relaxed and enjoyable. Area outside around the restaurant has a coastal vibe. Nice evening for dinner and a stroll.

Easy to miss this little (Sauga)tuck'd away lunch spot downtown near the old Chequer's. Solid drink and food menu for a large party to quickly figure out. Service was attentive and patient with all the children in our group. We tried the margarita and fried chicken sandwich. Both were delicious. However, the burger (according to others in our group) was the standout option. Literally, everyone loved their burger. We'll take just one more sentence to compliment Duck Alley on their clean floor plan, simple menu, and price point. Great downtown option.

Great place if you love ducks. Duck name, duck decor, duck on the menu. Our party of four was seated quickly and the service was speedy and friendly. We were looking for a place with outdoor seating which Duck Alley does not have, but we figured that this place was comfortable and clean so we should give it a shot. I was skeptical of our group ordering the Duck Fried Rice since it is $48 but we split the dish and all were pretty full by the end of our meal. I think the menu could have done a better job at clearly stating that this is a large meal which is best for sharing; I couldn't imagine eating this whole dish by myself. I thought the food was great and the peach bourbon cocktail that I had was also fantastic. I would come again if I ever return to Saugatuck.

Visiting from out of town (Missouri) for a wedding. We sat down and were helped by Debbie. FIVE STARS ACROSS THE BOARD. Debbie was amazing, it's hard to pick favorites but the Lobster and Crab dip and Lobster and Shrimp Roll were favorites! The Seafood Gemelli Pesto was a pleasant surprise and was delicious. Debbie took care of us and was the most positive interaction we've had in the area all weekend. If you're looking for great service, delicious food and a variety of cuisine this is your place. We will be back when we come back to MI.

The duck fried rice - just wow. Incredible dish. I don't eat duck often and got this to try something new, and would encourage others to do the same. It really put duck on the map for me. Halibut entre, short rib app, drinks and chocolate mousse dessert all were excellent. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Definitely stop in

Duck Alley is a nice place to grab a drink and a bite to eat. The side entry door is a little hidden because it's down the alley next to Bowdie's. But when it's a little more busy in town they also open the front door. I would order just about any appetizer on the menu. But the duck wings and fried mushrooms are the stand outs in my opinion. For mains, the Chicken Schnitzel and Lamb Ragu both are very good. But, when they have the Cod fish and chips, I'm going for that 10 times out of 10. As for sides, the roasted wild mushrooms are other worldly. Wow, so good. We often sit at the bar, because the service is great and the bartenders are very friendly. The wait staff also is excellent. Duck Alley has a nice comfortable and friendly vibe. It's on our list of places to frequent.

Very cute spot with great staff. Everyone is so kind and welcoming! Didn't get to try much but I loved my chicken schnitzel

My sister and I came here for drinks and to watch the Kentucky derby. It wasn't crowded at all; we walked right in and sat at the bar. The two bartenders were super sweet, friendly, and personable. Our mojitos were excellent !!! The space was low key, which I enjoyed! I would definitely recommend! (I can't speak to the food though since we didn't eat!)

Coming to Saugatuck? You MUST stop here! Delicious duck wings, and I mean fantastic!!! The rest of our food, and my cocktail, were fabulous as well. Anna was so sweet and friendly, giving us some "local" info. I read some of the other reviews...too bright, too loud...let me address those. We visited at around 2 pm and sat in the front by the window so the brightness wasn't an issue. Maybe later in the evening so I can't say for that timing. Loudness...when we came in you could hear the music and it wasn't bad, however when I went back to the bathroom, which is in the back through the bar area, I was glad I didn't sit back there. My old ears have a hard time with conversation among loud music so that would have been off putting. I'm sure though if I had sat back there they would have gladly moved us. Overall the atmosphere was nice and I loved sitting at the window I hate talking about pricing because everything right now is up, so the price was average for other places we've visited. Parking was easy for us (we visited in the off season at the beginning of May) but Anna said it gets crazy during the summer so I guess be prepared to hunt or have to walk. Next time we are in the area this is a definite stop!

The duck wings were good. The $34 halibut was very dry and tasteless. Waiter just kind of shrugged when I told her. Won't be back.

I can't get over how amazing these guys can make food look. This review is for their pop-up menu that they do occasionally, not their private dining experiences. The highlight for me was the tartar sauce. The roe give this a unique look but I could take it or leave when it comes to the actual taste and texture. But holy everything else about this sauce was absolutely perfect. It was creamy, slightly sweet and acidic, and the perfect amount of dill. The cod itself was also incredible. The squid ink beer batter was another point that I thought was a really interesting visual addition alongside the roe. It didn't taste any different from a regular batter but I still thinks its a nice addition. The cod was fried extra crispy and crunchy on the outside while still being juicy and flaky on the inside. Perfect fish sandwich. I can't wait to see what they put out next. I'm definitely going to be a regular going forward.

After the very limited guidance of "2 pregnant guests and Japan is special" Chef Wes flew in scallops from Japan for the delectable 3rd course, which was served after the most refreshing late season tomato salad I've ever had. The croquet paired with the Waygu was unlike any I've ever had, finished with a desert that danced on my tongue. In an open kitchen the quiet and efficient preparations heightened the party and atmosphere of excitement. Tiny dinners set the bar high with the first course, a staged hors d'oeuvres in the living room, before hurdling over each subsequent bar that was set higher. We want to find more reason to have Chef Wes in our home.
