I have taken my car here for a very long time but the last experience I had finally made me make the decision to go elsewhere. I had gotten my oil change and struts replaced. When I drove my car home I (thankfully) checked under the hood. The radiator overflow resovior was missing! I dont know a lot about cars but that is definitely something that shouldn't be missing! I went back and they "forgot" to put it back in my car. What if I never noticed? I would've been driving around without it!! In return they gave me a card for a free oil change. Somewhat compensation but still very bad they forgot to put a part back in my car. read more

So first and foremost everyone who reads car care reviews should remember that when people are getting work done to their vehicle it's not "scheduled maintenance" who does that and a lot of times they are pissed, pressed for time and frustrated at the costs. I know this because that's how I walked in. Just read everything with a grain of salt and know some of the pour reviews are from bitter people. I went in knowing I was going to spend money but I didn't want to get screwed. These guys made sure I was safe but not spending an arm and a leg. They don't push you to do work just let you know what's going on and what it's going to take to be safe. There are some great coupons so don't wait for a "brake" down (no pun intended) and get your car worked on. They do more than just brakes and if you needs tires well there is a tire shop just next door. I was going to another shop here in the valley with many locations and some sucker deal coupons who I won't be going to anymore. I will now being seeing these guys for all my car problems and those pesky schedule maintenances. read more

My front and rear brakes were replaced here. I drove off the lot and felt hard pull to the right as I was driving, literally feeling as if I needed an alignment. Come to find out, Brakes Plus put one of my rear tires in the front and one of my front tires in the rear. My Lexus IS250 has slightly larger tires in the back. They did not put my tires back the right way. That is very scary. read more

Twice in four years I have come to this shop, and twice their work has almost killed me, literally. The first time was with my Olds Cutlass Calais, on which they recommended replacing the driver side CV axle. Well, it had been working just fine, but I could see the boot was torn, so alright. Thirty miles later, while doing about 50 on a gradual bend, the axle they replace grenades, locking up and sending me over the curb and into a parking lot. They look at it, find out the cheap asian knockoff they replaced my OEM CV with exploded, and replace it again. The car develops a horrifying grinding noise, at which point I decide to get rid of it. Four years later, here I am with a '78 impala. I remember the dangerous situation their quality had put me in, but all I need done is the rear shoes, how hard could that be? They have BRAKES right there in the name! The price is right, so I bring it in. Their floor man tells me my wheel solenoids are leaking. I take a look, they aren't too bad, but I might as well have it taken care of. Better safe then sorry right? WRONG. A week later (last night) I am driving to work, on the freeway in the rain, when suddenly my brake warning light flips on and lo and behold, I have almost zero pressure in the pedal. I make it to work, check under the hood. No disconnected lines, fluid in the reservoir, vacuum to the master still hooked up... So I crawl under the back and sure enough, big puddle of brake fluid from the drum they had replaced a solenoid in. WONDER WHAT THAT COULD BE. I am going back to get it fixed (for free), after which I will never, ever do business with these people again. If you value your safety, I would advise you do the same. read more

Had rotors pads and calipers replaced on 2003 Toyota Tundra 10 months ago. WS told to allow break in period for 500 miles. The brakes have squeaked at very low speeds since the new parts were installed. Took truck back in 2 weeks ago and they said nothing is wrong. Still have the squeak. Paid almost $900 for new parts and install. Not happy. read more

Thanking these guys here at Brake Plus! I previously went to Brake Plus on Baseline and Greenfield 4 weeks ago and told me I needed no brakes, even though I expressed the squealing of my brakes. Fast forward today it's metal on metal damage! I should've just came to these guys in the first place. I was very frustrated with the company because of their inaccurate inspection. I had to have new tires put on my husband's truck yesterday. Discount Tires (next door to Brakes Plus) told me to have them check the alignment. They were able to see me the same day and I got $10 off. I don't know why I always thought an alignment was hundreds of dollars. Imagine my amazement when the total was $59! read more

Todd and Justin were incredible to me and my car. They were friendly, informative, quick and thorough. They kept me in the loop throughout every step of the process and even walked me out into the bay to physically show me the problem areas with my car. From there they helped me assess what to focus my funds on immediately and what can be addressed down the road. No pressure for extra services and they even gave me a shuttle so I could be productive at home and didn't have to wait at the shop. Been a long-time customer and they generally do a great job on cars. If that is all you care about, great. But despite the citywide mask order, and despite the sign right on the door saying everyone must wear a mask, I entered the lobby and found one of their employees having a profanity-laced conversation with another employee while not wearing a mask. Why? Obviously I was afraid to speak up while they had my vehicle (and the ability to do who knows what to it while it is out of my sight) but I do not intend to return. People are dying, but taping a sign to the door saying masks are mandatory means nothing when the staff refuses to wear them. Never again. read more

They must have been having a bad day or short people because it sure seemed like the person answering the phone didn't want any more customers to come in the shop. Could easily perform the work myself but it's hot out right now and I was feeling lazy. Called because I had a question on cost for install of parts purchased from a different retailer. Conversation took barely a minute and the person seemed put out that I ask roughly how long to install since all he did was say their hourly rate in response to cost. His only response to my question was their hourly rate repeated back at me yet again. I'm pretty easy going and wasn't looking for exact pricing just a ballpark. Previous experiences with this location and company have always been average to positive. All he would have to say is something to the extent of, "That typically takes one to two hours but it could vary," or even, "I'm sorry there is no way for us to know until we start." I would have gladly given them my business to someone mildly polite. After that I said thank you and went to hang up. He then asked if I wanted to make an appointment and I had to hold back laughter. Guess I'll just have to suck it up and go sweat outside for a couple hours. read more

I went there for an oil change and they said I needed a very expensive repair. They quoted me a price and I scheduled an appointment for another day. When I went back the price went up drastically and then they played the game of "oh. let me see what I can do. Oh, you had multiple quotes in the system." Also what they don't tell you all the HIDDEN fees, they don't give you an out the door price. VERY DISHONEST PEOPLE!!! Todd and Sean both played games. Set up appointment at 8 AM right when they opened. Needed new brake pads. Inspection took almost an hour then repair was quoted at 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours, so I waited.... 3 hours later with no update I was visibly irritated after finally standing up a 3rd time waiting for a tech to return to the front, he noticed, finally asked his mechanic and he came in and gave me an additional 30 minutes eta. After spending over 4 hours in here and getting a quote for almost $700 (brakes were just normal wear and tear and no calipers even in the quote either) my handicapped mother in law gave in and paid it. These guys are crooks like the rest. This is the repair shop your friends warned you about, you walk in for a cheap job and they quote you the moon and insist EVERYTHING, and I do mean everything was needed and can't be missed. read more

I came into get an oil change done, and was told it was going to be $30, which I had no problem with. I told the gentleman who was helping me that the key pad on my keys did not work so when he unlocked/locked my car he would have to use the key itself and he said he would pass that information to whoever worked on my vehicle (which didn't happen). I got a phone call a few hours later and he explained that my oil pan wasn't holding oil and creating a few other problems and gave me a quote for how much it would be, but I chose to pass. So he said he would just put the oil back in and find a overside oil plug so fix it for the time been. I got another call about an hour later and the gentleman told me they actually had a tool to rethread the oil pan to hopefully fix it, and said that was going to be about $90, so I said okay go ahead and do that. About 30 minutes to close I heard nothing from Brakes Plus and started to worry so I called. He said they actually ended up cracking my entire oil pan right down the middle in the process of trying to rethread it. However, he said they would not charge me anything for it except for the original $30 fee from the beginning, but they would have to keep the car over night. So now a 1 to 2 hour oil change has now turned into 24 hours and I had work the next day. The next morning they called me around 12/12:30 saying my car was ready, however I couldn't pick it up till 4pm that day, because I was at work. When I went to pick up the car, another gentleman came to ring me up and said it was going to be $99 and I told him a man called me yesterday and said it was going to be $30. So he called out the manager, and the manager told me "the gentleman who told me that went on vacation and that he was standing right behind him when he called me and heard the whole conversation and that what I said wasn't true" and I was in shock. He then went on to tell me that "he can add more fees on if I want to, because he already gave me a good price". When I left the building I went to my car and and was suprised to see my car doors had been unlocked. Which means my car was unlocked for 5+ hours in the parking lot with no supervision. I have never had such bad customer service in my life. I would confidently say Wal-Mart had better customer service then Brakes Plus. I called customer service about 2/3 times and never heard back. I also went online and left a note saying I wanted to speak to customer service and never received a call. I would not recommend this place to anyone and shared with friends at my work place this is not the place to go!! Will definitely not be going back ever again! The only positive thing I have to say was the gentleman who helped me who "went on vacation" was helpful he showed me my oil pan and the bad threads and explained everything he was going to do. Extremely disappointed. Convinced they tried to pull a fast one on my wife. My wife dropped the car off for brakes and asked them to call her with an estimate. They called about 2 hours later and spoke to my wife and estimated the full job at about $800. She OK'd the work and asked that they call her when the work was done. The shop called about 2 hours later to talk to my wife to inform her that they had identified over $800 of additional work that was not necessary but recommended. She respectfully declined the work. Here is where it gets fishy ... Another hour or so later, the shop calls to inform my wife that they had identified an additional $300 of required brake work that needed to be done. REALLY!!!! Why inspect them in the beginning and provide someone with a quote that is bogus. Or, was the shop trying to make up for the sale of additional work my wife did not agree to buy by slapping on some additional brake work? Smells fishy to me and like the were trying to take advantage of a woman. My wife expressed great displeasure with the whole thing and suggested that her husband (me) was very irritated. When we got to the store to settle up, they came up with some mysterious $200 discount to offset the additional work that we were disputing (funny because the largest coupon that was out there was $50 - where did this come from??) Avoid this place at all cost. There are many other brake shops you can take your car to and not have to put up with this kind of customer service. To avoid this happening to anyone else, I will be notifying the Arizona Attorney General as well as the Better Business Bureau - this cannot be tolerated. read more

First time here, met with Steven he was very professional, knew what he was talking about, the tech that checked my brakes literally escorted me in through the shop to show me my front rotors, he explained what and why he had to do what he needed to do, I already knew what was needed so I knew he was honest. He composed a quote quickly, and they fixed me up quickly, thanks guys, I can feel the difference in the ride and the braking, didn't realize my breaks were that bad. I will be bringing my vehicle and my wife's vehicle here for all my auto needs. Money well spent. Thanks Steven and thanks to the tech team. Also, let me say while the guys worked as I looked at the progress on my vehicle I noticed that not one Tech was at idle, they all knew what their duties were and didn't trip over each other, that shows great management in place. I would give them ZERO STARS if possible.I question all these other "good reviews", as all I have experienced at this location was very poor customer service. Money hungry business like Brakes Plus ONLY value the money and not providing great costumer service. He/they did not want to honor the warranty to replace my battery with a new one! He even tried to give me a used battery and pass it as a new one. I called corporate to file my complaint, and all they did was give excuses for Todd's actions. I am sorry to see that some have had poor experiences at this location and respect their opportunity to share those experiences. I personally have had nothing but good experiences with Mr. Pederson (Todd) and the Brakes Plus Mechanics. I have a dear family friend whom I have trusted my vehicle repairs to for years, he is trying to move into retirement so I have been forced to find an alternative. I have found Todd and this particular Brakes Plus location to be #1 Convenient, #2 Reasonable, #3 Unequivocally Efficient! Their work has been followed up on by my trusted family friend and approved of! I appreciate that Todd will take my budget into account and advise me of the necessary repairs and the ones that can be done over time. On three different occasions (7/2019 - Control Arm-steering; 7/2020 AC compressor/Fan assembly; 7/2020 Engine issue) they have been able to repair major vehicle issues within a day! They always show me the parts that were faulty/damaged and what they were replaced with. Just so you know..I actually work on my cars...do my spark plugs, battery, oil pressure sensor, alternator - things that can be done in the a driveway..the bigger items I do not have the equipment or location to do them. And I am grateful for their assistance. Todd has also successfully worked with my auto warranty for those repairs that are covered. I tend to hang on to my vehicles - I own a 95 Chevy Silverado PU with 170,000 miles and the above mentioned vehicle which is a 2009 GMC Yukon XL that currently has 175,000 miles. read more

DONT USE THIS PLACE! Do not have them do your brakes! I went in there and the guy told me they could not save one of my front rotors, and that I had no oil in my car! I told them to put my car back together and I did not want them to do any work on the car. I then went to a different shop and they were able to rotate the rotor so I did not have to buy another one and they checked my oil and the oil was low but there was oil in the car! I don't like being LIED to, I may be a female but don't think you can take advantage of me! If you make a appointment with them it does not matter they want to keep the car for four to five hours. I did find a very honest business to do the work so I am happy. I just don't want to see anyone elses screwed over by this company, they are liars and want you to pay for want you don't need read more

Called to make an appointment and find out why Subaru Scottsdale was charging my son so much money for his WRX brakes. Spoke with Steven on the phone who was outstanding and explained to just to come in and let's take a look at it to see what needs to be done. Arrived & the Manager Todd had the car done within 2 hours and all the specialize parts required for this car they were able to utilize from their suppliers. Clean, safe & easy to get to to off of 48th x Chandler. So the dealership didn't get me for rotors, pads, everything else under the sun! I found a new place that I trust and I was able to get all of these items done for 1/3 the price. In this case the quote was nearly $2200 from the dealership and it was $800 out the door for me! I feel like I have an outstanding warranty, someone I trust and it takes anxiety out of trying to find somebody to do this type of work. Outstanding! read more

In 2017 I went to this location (at Tatum North of Bell in Phoenix, and they did a complete 4 wheel brake job. They also did some other repairs that I knew at the time were not really needed. But I was in a spot and needed the work done right away so I paid the extra and get what they said was a lifetime warrantee on everything they did. Fast forward to now. The brakes need to be redone and I took it in for my lifetime warrantee brake fix. Keep in mind their bill for the original brake job and a couple other minor things was almost $3,000.00. I get a call that the truck needs new brakes all around. new rotors and a fluid flush. The mechanic started rattling off the costs involved, and I stopped him and ask what good my lifetime warrantee was. He said...oh...I didn't look up your history, let me check. After retotaling my brake job he proudly told me he was able to get it down to just over $900.00. This location, at least, is a giant scam. They claimed the rear brakes needed to be done and that I needed new rotors on the rear as well. Another mechanic looked at them and told me the rear brakes were still at 80% and the rotors were smooth as a babies butt. Brakes Plus lied, and tried to get me to pay over $900.00 on brakes that were supposed to have a lifetime warrantee. NEVER go there...you will pay way too much WAY too much. I paid the extra the first time because they said the lifetime warrantee would cover the brakes for the life of the vehicle....it didn't. I never mind paying more if what I get is worth it...this wasn't. read more

I really don't like leaving reviews unless it's really necessary and today I will do just that. My car had over heated and since "BRAKES PLUS" was the only shop right next to me I decided to pull up and pay the diagnostic fee ($25.48) two hours later they came to me with a long list of items that "they knew needed to be replaced" I told them i might not be a mechanic but I know it don't need all those parts and maybe it was something small, so the manager came over to explain to me what "the car needed in order to work and he did seem upset and said everything got severely damaged and needed to be replaced" get this! the amount they were trying to charge was over $600!! I don't deal with BS and they had me go through a lot of phone calls and what not till I finally decided to get my car towed (free roadside assistance) out of there and brought back to my house. I called a very knowledge mechanic I knew about and to make the long story short "it was a lower hose that had came loose do to the clamp not being attached and created a hole in the hose by rubbing against the belt" I spent $40.67 for parts and my mechanic fixed it (took him 30mins) and now my car runs like new again. I missed one day of work and dealt with a lot when they could've just been honest and I would've been in and out same day. P.S the time I was in there I guess I wasn't the only one complaining about pricing that day. Please explore other options before paying a ridiculous amount for something sooo small. read more

Steer clear of these folks!!! Took my car in for steering rod replacement. They charged price of new and put in a refurbished part. Went back in and asked the manager and he told me I did not ask them for a new one. They must have replaced the o-ring on the steering rod and put it right back :( They told me my brakes were all worn out and pads/rotors need to be changed immediately. Went to another shop and they found nothing wrong with the pads, they did not need to be changed, only rotor re-surface. Save yourself the hassle and find a trustworthy repair shop. Do not take your car in to this location. This was the worst experience I have ever had. I took my car in for an oil change with my vehicle running smoothly as ever and a day after not even driving 40 miles my car is spewing out liquids from the Hood. Thank goodness I was basically home when my oil pressure light kept coming on. I then proceeded to call them and ask what they did to my vehicle. I don't care how nice you are on the phone to manipulate me and try and get more money out of myself. There is no coincidence that my car was having problems after I took it in for a basic oil change that any shop can do with ease and do it correctly. They did an all fluid inspection and told me that my vehicles heater hose which is on the opposite side of the oil tank was ruptured... when I inferred that Todd's employees probably screwed something up he then became angry and telling me my vehicle is garbage basically. It needed up costing me $500 dollars to fix a heater hose that was perfectly normal before I took it in for an oil change. I hate being lied too and it hurts your reputation that you cannot take ownership for your mistakes. What a shame. I will never be going to brakes plus again. read more

Will not go back ever. Took my vehicle after being directed there by Discount Tire because my alignment was off and discount gave me a coupon well they must be in cahoots with each other. Walked over there from discount while my tires were being put on and made an appt for the following day. They remind me of cheesy used car salesmen with their corny one liners and fake attitudes. Of course they found more issues for an additional $900 saying my wheel arms were loose. I said no just do the alignment. Took my car home and seemed to drive nice until I backed out of my driveway and turned the wheel left and heard a grinding noise from my right wheel now every time I back out or turn left it makes that grinding noise and it didn't do it before I brought my car in there then the next morning I get in my car and running late get on the freeway looked down and noticed none of my gauges are on my entire dashboard is disconnected I call the shop while I'm on the freeway telling him what happened and asked if they something with my dashboard wires and the guy was defensive and rude. It was the day before Thanksgiving and he told me I could bring my car in but they were very busy and he have to get to me when he could. I cancelled and took it somewhere else I will never go back there again and they still effed up my car read more
