I have been back there a few times for the same problem and they would honor my warranty and fix the problem . Chandler Heights and Higley location--Had a voucher to replace a damaged lug in one tire, so asked if they would check my alignment while I was there. They did it quickly and gave me a discount on the alignment and gave me a colorful pic of my new alignment. only thing I wish they had done was to show me a colorful pic of my alignment before the new one and to let me know that my car in fact needed an alignment. They were very nice, prompt. I do believe my car needed an alignment because I ran over a curb, so don't fell like I was ripped off. Just a little more info would have been helpful to me read more

We took our jeep in for a diagnostic test. At first they told us we needed a transfer case sensor, which cost around $350. They kept the jeep overnight and the next day they said the drive shaft needed to be replaced and it would cost $1700. We didn't have $1700. So we took it to another place that was recommended by another repair place. There they told us there was nothing wrong with the drive shaft and said the diagnostic reading came up as the final drive control module and said it would probably be best to take it the dealership. At least this place we took it to was honest, not trying to repair something it didn't need. Who knows what Brakes plus would have come up with again after we paid the $1700. read more

I took my car there to get some work done. The car was finished on Tuesday 07/20/21, I received a call on 07/21/21 and I spoke to someone whom I informed that due to my work schedule I won't be able to pick up until my next day off. He okayed it. On Friday 07/23/21 I receive a call from the General Manager of the location on 48th St & Chandler Blvd 85048, informing me that I need to pick up my car right now! I tried explaining the situation and the importance of my job, he was very rude, unprofessional and beyond disrespectful telling me that I am taking advantage of their policy (at this point I was both shocked & annoyed). I was told that if I don't pick up on the said day I will be charged $25 a day storage fee, but because of my schedule I agreed to pay the service fee. He then changed his entire argument saying that I can pay over the phone and pick up the car whenever I want. It was as that point I realized they wanted their money. It's a BRAND NEW Mercedes Benz, do you think I don't want my car back in my care ASAP? Did you think I couldn't afford the service? Where is your customer service and sense of respect for customers? The "General Manager" was literally ARGUING with me over the phone to come get my car right that moment. Jeez bro, it's only been a couple days since it was fixed. Train this guy on professionalism, customer respect & patience. It's a $50k car, am I gonna just leave it and not show up? Is this how you guys treat every customer? Or was I just different? ‍ I rather drive my car on its axis with no brakes than to have these unprofessional A-holes touch my shit again. Or was he asking a fool because I am a black guy whom he assumed that I can't afford to pay thus making him compelled to harass me over something that stupid?. I asked them if I needed to pay before hand because I was capable of, they said no. Then their gonna try to run me down over that bullshit? Come on! I went today into breaks plus after trying to go to Discount Tire a few days prior to get my tires rotated . They wouldn't do it / couldn't do it bc I needed so bad parts replaced on my rear tire and they suggested this place . I called the next day and got an appt for this AM. The manager , Todd at this Ahwatukee location is a good guy . He's friendly and even threw in a free tire rotation so I wouldn't have to go back to discount tire and wait another hour . Yay ! He also showed me what was wrong with my car and suggested work including replacing the struts soon . That is $800 and not something I can do right now but he said if I come back in the next month or two he will do an alignment again on them for free since I got it aligned today and won't have to pay twice . I went it to this location 2/17/2022 to get a alignment on my Ford F-350 after being recommended by the discount tires next door. I had just spent 1,100 in tires and was so happy to be getting an alignment to also protect unnecessary wear on them. I went it dropped it off and was told I would not have a long wait ahead of me should be done by close. After a couple of hours I called like most people would to Adress if it was done early and to my surprise I was told they where having a tough time getting it done. When I asked if it was my tie rods or other parts related to alinement they let me know it would be done soon and not to worry ignoring the fact that I had just asked what was wrong. When I went in I was greeted by the guy at the desk who told me it would be done soon again. When I asked the hold up he once again said it will be done soon. After they "finished there work" I went to talk to the mechanic I had seen working on my truck and he let me know an inexperienced mechanic had been assigned to my truck and was allowed to attempt my alignment. He was then assigned the task of finishing it "properly". No worries I told myself I went got in my truck and took it for a test run on new tires with a fresh alignment. 1/2 mile on the 10 and my truck wanted to go into the ditch and won't hold in a straight line. I called Justin and he told me he would make it right even offering me a tow in the morning. This morning I went in and was met with tod who I showed the marring on my couplers and explained the issue to him. He told me his alignment didn't do that accused me of having a faulty truck. And proceeds to force me into a refund telling me he just need to absolve himself of it because he cannot CANNOT! Fix my truck in store. Yet his store is supposed to be working on front end suspension. He refused to even pull it into a bay and look at it. I have called corporate and the bbb. Will be seeing if they follow up with me. The manager Todd, seemed to know (many by name) more than half the customers that came in while I was waiting, and you could tell they were happy customers, coming back for regular service. I have been here in the past for an alignment and was pleased and went back for a few 30,000 mile service items that I do not do myself (I am old school and still do my own oil/rotate tires/wipers, etc). They were among the cheapest of the non dealers I called after you check for coupons on the web. AND, they ended up being slightly less than they quoted me on the phone as the Trans flush required slightly less fluid than standard. Service was even done slightly ahead of schedule! This will be my 3rd time here in the past year with a great Experience here every time. I've read about every review on this location since going here and while everyone's experience is different, I don't entirely understand some of the bad ones they have got. Today I had to have my car alignment done, so i dropped it off and Todd (Manger of this location) gave me a ride to work while they were working on it. While at work they told me they needed to get a caper alignment kit because they weren't able to align it properly, so i said "alright go ahead", and so once I was done with work Todd picked me back up and I asked him about the caper kit they had to install, and to my surprise he said (paraphrasing) "So actually after investigating further we didn't need to install that" That would have been another $150. I was blown away because its very hard to find a honest mechanic in Phoenix. I used to live in a smaller city and its easier to find honest people. So I was happy to hear that from him. They could have easily lied to me and put in there anyway and charged me. Todd was honest and upfront about everything! I've gone here for my ABS modules and Brakes too, and those were fantastic experiences as well. I go to where the prices are reasonable and where i feel i can get the best customer service. For the Alignment it was the best price in town and fit my budget. I don't pick favorites anymore with mechanics, however i keep only a few Mechanics in mind when i need car work done here in my area. My husband and I came here for a second opinion for his brakes. We went to Xpress Automotive a couple of months back and they told my husband that he would need new brake pads and rotors within a couple of months. I had a weird feeling about it and felt like we were getting scammed. I was SO glad we found Brakes Plus because they gave us a free brake check and we were told our car's brakes were like new and we didn't need new brakes or rotors. I've had mostly suspension work done and I found their costs to be better than Sun Devil Auto and ADS for basically the same repair. Lifetime warranty on parts is a plus. Vehicle was brought in because the rear air wouldn't blow cold. They "fixed" it but when I picked it up I checked and the front worked fine but the rear was still blowing hot. Went back in and they said "oh it was an oversight" they never checked to see if the original problem was fixed. They rigged a fix because they didn't have the part and charged me a ridiculous amount and said if I come back after they get the part they will have to charge me again. I thought my family (4 vehicles) had finally found a reputable auto repair place. Turns out this isn't it. I will never recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

My ac was not working so I took it in. First thing they said was that it will take 5-6 hours at least so I need to drop it off even without checking the car. I said I will wait so they inspected my car for good 90 mins and came back saying I need the whole ac kit. The estimate was 2400$. I didn't go with them as it didn't seem right. Went with honest1 car repairs and it turned out compressor connector was loose. It was as easy as pushing it back in the slot. I got it replaced for 200$. Even 200$ seems more for a part that is worth 10$ but at least not as bad as replacing the whole kit. read more

If you're looking for a place to do anything except brakes, then don't take your vehicle here. Brakes Plus, should be "Brakes, Plus a whole lot of frustration". I've usually had a good experience with Todd at Brakes Plus, until this past January. My car needed new brakes, and while it was there, I asked if they could take a look at why my dual temp controls weren't regulating the drivers side AC/Heat. They installed the actuator incorrectly, which caused the gears on my heater box/core to get stripped out and break. After taking it to Nissan to have them take a look at it, Brakes Plus voided my warranty since they installed a part incorrectly. I brought it back to Brakes plus to replace the actuator, which they GLUED to the heater core which only lasted 3 days before it broke again. The heater core was back ordered for 3 weeks, so this repair was supposed to "hold" until the part came in. I had to research and locate the part after 3 weeks because nobody from Brakes Plus would track the part. All I was told was "Whenever the part comes in, it comes in". Once they replaced the heater core, the tech didn't reattach my dashboard correctly and left a metal clip exposed when reassembling my car. 2 days later, my engine light came on and the car kept stalling. I took the car to O'Reilley and had a diagnostics test run on it, and the MAF sensor was bad. Once again, I took it back to Nissan since I've lost all faith in Brakes Plus fixing anything correctly. Nissan replaced the MAF sensor and cabin air filter, took it for a test drive and the engine light came back on. They informed me that my intake hood/manifold was damaged... most likely intentionally by the techs at Brakes Plus. Nissan said this is not a commonly broken/cracked part, and when Brakes Plus broke it, they attempted to "fix" the cracks by putting adhesive on it. Obviously it didn't hold up, much like any of their other attempts at a repair. 2 months later, and several trips back and forth to Nissan and Brakes Plus, and not having my car for over a week and a half, my car is fixed. I will NEVER take any of my vehicles, nor will I recommend anyone I know to take their vehicles to this establishment. This place, and their techs are a joke and don't know what they're doing. Or they will sabotage your vehicle in retaliation for their previous poor service. I've emailed corporate twice, and left a voicemail with their Arizona division and have not received any response nor talked to a human being about their service. Came in here to get my tires realigned.  It's right next to Discount Tire and they usually send you here to get your times re-aligned.  I had a coupon which was nice.  While they were re-doing the alignment, they mentioned that the control arm bushings were worn and would need to be replaced.  I got a quote but did not want to do it then.  Good thing I waited and got another opinion as it is much easier and much less labor to replace the whole control arm.  It would have nice to have been quoted several options as I don't have time to research it right on the spot.  This place is OK and their prices seem reasonable for basic services.  The waiting room was nothing special but I might come back again to get an oil change. read more

I have been a Brakes Plus customer for the past 15 years. Super service. Then last week my car had an oil change and tire rotation. the mechanic left the wheel locks scattered in the front seat, low tire pressure and other debris. I complained. Today I had 2 brake light bulbs replaced and shared by ecent negative experience and that i did not want theprior tech. The work was completed and I'm just minding my own business in the cust wating room and John walks up--hands me my keys and the invoice--no charge. Just thank you. I was shocked and pleased. We bought a battery & 5 year warranty from this location about a year and a half ago. Brought it in today to get battery replaced because it was acting up. Well when my husband checked-in, the employee (Todd Pederson/manager) told him they were going to do a battery check and charge him a "battery check fee" and a "battery change fee", over $30!?! I understand the battery change fee, but what I don't get is why the battery check fee, if we already know it's the battery?! It's why we set this appointment to begin with & that wasn't a service we requested for! So when my husband declined to do the battery check, they refused to be of any service thereafter. My husband decided to change the battery himself (due to the fact that warranty only covers the battery alone), in 102 degree weather; however, when he asked Todd for a wrench to take our old battery out, he told him "NO"! The business across (Discount Tires) came to my husbands rescue & let my husband barrow tools. Brakes Plus was absolutely no help to us at all!! I'm actually pretty surprised by their yelp star rating... I've gone here a few times since moving to Maricopa and I always seem to work with Todd who's always friendly and helpful. These guys seem honest and priced similarly among their competitors. One thing they've always done for me is take me outside and show me exactly what the issue is. I like this, it proves to me that I'm not being swindled. They also let me know what is needed immediately and what I can get away with waiting on. Although, I have had a couple snafu's; they gave me back my car with a blown tire but they righted this by replacing the tire. On another occasion they put on bad shocks but again I called about the issue and they replaced them free of charge. Additionally, they always allow me to borrow their Jeep free of charge while my vehicle is being repaired. Recently I was there for an oil change and they let me know my engine mounts were bad and this was a costly fix. However, after the new ones were put on I couldn't believe how quiet and smooth my 2008 Mazda 6 was running! It was so quiet that I wasn't sure it started when I turned the key. Seriously, I didn't realize how loud and how much my engine and transmission were vibrating and moving around while I was driving until they put new mounts on. The vehicle feels like it did when it was new. So far, so good for me with this location but it's sad to read my fellow yelpers having such difficulties. Due to the couple issues I've had I'll leave it at 3 stars until I see a little more improvement with getting my car back right the first time. This is a great location to go if you need work done. We were out on a Saturday afternoon when I realized there was a major issue with my brakes. I realized it had been quite some time since I had had them checked so we looked for a place nearby. A friend of ours had a good experience here recently so we gave it a shot. I dropped off my truck to have them look at it. A few hours later they called me with the estimate and with what was wrong. It was comparable to what it would be elsewhere so I went with it. I found some coupons online and when I went to pick it up they honored them without issue. The staff here is great and very friendly. They advised me on a couple other issues that may arise based on wear and tear and simply let me know what their prices were if I were to use them again. I took two vehicles here at close to the same time. My 98 jimmy and my wife's 2006 RAV4. I was pleased with the staff as they seemed very nice (yet fakishly 50's in how they spoke). They gave me the option of going with either generic or premium breaks about a $65 difference in price. I went with generic with my Jimmy and premium on the RAV4. After about 3 months, both sound like a horror film whenever I apply the breaks. Also, since getting them, the breaks feel loose and don't have the stopping power like they used to, even with bad breaks. I'm going to wait a little while longer (so I can build the funds for what I am sure are going to be replacements) before taking them to another shop to get them checked out. read more

I have taken my car here for a very long time but the last experience I had finally made me make the decision to go elsewhere. I had gotten my oil change and struts replaced. When I drove my car home I (thankfully) checked under the hood. The radiator overflow resovior was missing! I dont know a lot about cars but that is definitely something that shouldn't be missing! I went back and they "forgot" to put it back in my car. What if I never noticed? I would've been driving around without it!! In return they gave me a card for a free oil change. So first and foremost everyone who reads car care reviews should remember that when people are getting work done to their vehicle it's not "scheduled maintenance" who does that and a lot of times they are pissed, pressed for time and frustrated at the costs. I know this because that's how I walked in. Just read everything with a grain of salt and know some of the pour reviews are from bitter people. I went in knowing I was going to spend money but I didn't want to get screwed. These guys made sure I was safe but not spending an arm and a leg. They don't push you to do work just let you know what's going on and what it's going to take to be safe. There are some great coupons so don't wait for a "brake" down (no pun intended) and get your car worked on. They do more than just brakes and if you needs tires well there is a tire shop just next door. I was going to another shop here in the valley with many locations and some sucker deal coupons who I won't be going to anymore.
