He discussed the scope of what I wanted, and we made an appointment (within a week!) to meet so he could look at it in person. Again, when he came out, I got a really solid sense that this man knew what he was doing. He didn't radiate charm or try to impress me, and that impressed me. I asked why I should have the old tile replaced, rather than sealing the cracks with, say, caulk, and he explained the downside to that (cheap) solution. He explained in detail the steps that his workers would take to remove the old tile and then install new waterproof barrier and the new tile. He gave me options--did I want a niche? What kind of grout did I want to use? Did I want to replace the shower? And he talked about price. Then he went back to his office and sent me a statement of work for approval. Then he sent me a quote, with a reminder of the unknowns involved that could change the costs. He scheduled the job about two weeks out, and recommended The Tile Shop for tile. They were very helpful (see my review of The Tile Shop). His workers were very professional, and they even taped plastic over the open walls when they finished removing the tile, so we could use the tub over the weekend. The installation went well, especially as we had to wait a day for the plumber to install the new shower. By the end of the next week it was complete and the grout was curing. I am so happy with Durrant Services, I am having them do other repairs on my roof and siding as well.

Fantastic! My husband and I had a really nasty concrete patio that we wanted to cover and build out…read morethe patio deck. We got several contractors come out and a few gave us bids since it was such a small job. Don came over in the evening, explained his process, asked more questions than any other contractor, and got to us pretty fast. He provided us with a scope of work and then a bid once we had agreed in the work. He agreed to delay part of the project (building the roof) because we had some other cost come up. They came and did the work fast and well. I will use them again. Great work at a reasonable price

Our home had cast iron plumbing, aluminum wiring and single pain windows. We had a Mansard roof with cedar shingles. Every 4th of July, we would keep buckets of water and water hoses ready to extinguish any fire threats. Prior to hiring the contractor, I did my research. I called several builders (contractors) got estimates and interviewed each and everyone. I also asked for references from previous jobs. Once we narrowed the list of contractors, I actually contacted the references given to me by the contractors. After all of my research I contacted Rod Prothero, owner of KRP construction. On our second meeting, he drove me to a couple of homes that he was in the process of building or remodeling as well has homes that he had built in previous years. Since we live in a small town, KRP's current and previous clients were more than willing to speak with me. All of them recommend KRP Construction. My wife and 2 daughters moved out of the home, and gave KRP Construction the go ahead and begin the renovations. Throughout the process, Rod was in constant contact with me. Prior to paying any draws, Rod and I would meet and look at the progress. If I had questions or concerns Rod was alway patient and understanding. I never felt pressured. KRP Construction applied for all of the permits, and Rod was there for all inspections. We are extremely happy with our home. KRP Construction did an excellent job. Rod's organization was very professional, clean and the work proceeded in a timely fashion. My wife and I strongly recommend KRP Construction.

Great pricing and install quality....if you can deal with the delays…read more Our flooring adventure began with a bang. More precisely, a whimper. Our two dogs had absolutely destroyed our ten year old carpet, and we were long overdue for a replacement. More carpet, for maximum dog wallowing/belly rubs? Or deny them these simple pleasures and go for hardwood? As our budget would have it, neither; we ended up opting for vinyl plank. Andrea was very helpful during the selection process, sent us home with a few samples and within 20 minutes we had a winner. A few days later she came by to take measurements, collect our deposit and give us an arrival date. The date came and went. "Well, no worries" I thought, Fashion Floors was in the midst of moving their showroom, this was far from a carpet emergency (is there such a thing?) and they hadn't cashed our deposit check anyway. After a few rounds of phone tag, we settled on an install date! Typically this would be the type of project I would tackle myself (and take months to actually complete), but in this case the install included hauling off the old carpet, leveling the subfloor, as well as removal/re installation of the furniture. I figured it was money well spent. We were told our installers would be here between 9-10am. You already know where this is going. They showed up a little after noon, but to their credit, they started busting ass and had the job nearly complete in five hours. Now, it's the "nearly" part that's key here. Apparently they had either forgotten or not been given all of their supplies, so they left for an hour, came back and worked until nearly 8pm. Kudos for the tenacity and the fact that they completed it in one day, but it would've been nicer not to have to rearrange the entire day. We finally made it to their new showroom to go drop off our final payment, only to find the place dark, doors locked at 10am on a Friday. We hopped next door to TacoDeli for a leisurely brunch, came back at 11 to find the place still closed. Bizarre. This necessitated another trip the next week to get these folks paid. Pretending to be outraged on the internet seems to be the newest fad, but you'll get none of that from me. There were some minor inconveniences here and there, but at the end of the day we are very happy with the material and installation, and the new flooring really did transform our bedroom. Give Fashion Floors a holler.

I do not leave negative reviews lightly, but this experience warrants transparency…read more I contacted Ryan through Thumbtack for a clearly defined virtual design walk-through in support of a client project. In my initial outreach, I explicitly stated that this was a virtual consultation and outlined the scope in detail. Ryan responded that he could handle the work and was interested. We confirmed logistics multiple times, including the evening before and again the morning of the appointment. My client rearranged her schedule, and I rearranged mine to coordinate a live virtual walkthrough at the property. Ryan did not arrive at the agreed-upon time. After the scheduled time passed, I called -- no answer. I sent a message asking him to confirm arrival -- no response. Two and a half hours later, he sent a message stating he had been "warned to stay away from these types of jobs" and apologized. There was no prior indication of hesitation, concern, or limitation in scope. If he was unwilling or uncomfortable with the nature of the job, that should have been communicated before confirming and causing both myself and my client to restructure our day. Reliability and communication are non-negotiable in client-facing industries. Unfortunately, this experience demonstrated neither. I cannot recommend based on this interaction. ***Update*** *Ryan attempted to dodge accountability by replying on Thumbtack that he was not given a clear scope. Please see the attached scope as well as his attempt to text me to explain himself. This is a pattern for Ryan. Please pay attention to the other negative reviews.

Sam Tuttle was hired to do a build out on our metal building to be an Airbnb. In short Sam Tuttle is an con-artist. He mismanaged the funds for the job he was hired to do. He lied about how he spent the funds. He asked for more money when he knew he was going on vacation. Then he asked for the entire amount of the project when his agreement stated "three installments as the project moved forward." He refused to follow our vision. He did things his way and when we asked him for explanations he said he was going to need more money. In a meeting in our home he insulted our guest when they asked him a question. He got into a screaming match at our front door because he didn't want to answer legitimate questions about the concerns we were having. On this same day he walked off the job. Sam said he was a Christian and that he was honest. He was recommended by a close family friend which is why we hired him. There were huge discrepancies about how the money was spent. He told us different amounts on three different occasions which he why we wanted to talk to him. We knew based on the material at the job site and the number of days he worked that there was no way he could have spent all of the first installment. Because Sam walked off the job in anger we asked him for an amount we believed he should return to us. He agreed to this amount in an email and then has refused to pay us. He does not return our emails, he does not return our texts. This is the first time I have ever left a bad review for anyone. In this case, it is the right thing to do. Sam Tuttle is not ethical. He took advantage of me and my 82 year old mother. He lied to us. He mismanaged the funds and walked off the job in anger. I do not suggest you use him for any service. We regret trusting in him and allowing him into our home. Do not use his services. Stay away!!

Luis did part of the ceiling 16 on center, then 20-24 on center but used 2x6. He did not follow the Structural Engineering plans that we provided by email, and the printed plans which we tacked unto the walls. Luis used plywood under the roof supports. The plywood is currently sagging because the weight of the roof is not supported correctly. We were told they have never seen that done and this is not to code.
