I had to leave a rating, but would have preferred not to leave any rating at all. Austin We Fix It deserves no stars. Sam Tuttle was hired to do a build out on our metal building to be an Airbnb. In short Sam Tuttle is an con-artist. He mismanaged the funds for the job he was hired to do. He lied about how he spent the funds. He asked for more money when he knew he was going on vacation. Then he asked for the entire amount of the project when his agreement stated "three installments as the project moved forward." He refused to follow our vision. He did things his way and when we asked him for explanations he said he was going to need more money. In a meeting in our home he insulted our guest when they asked him a question. He got into a screaming match at our front door because he didn't want to answer legitimate questions about the concerns we were having. On this same day he walked off the job. Sam said he was a Christian and that he was honest. He was recommended by a close family friend which is why we hired him. There were huge discrepancies about how the money was spent. He told us different amounts on three different occasions which he why we wanted to talk to him. We knew based on the material at the job site and the number of days he worked that there was no way he could have spent all of the first installment. Because Sam walked off the job in anger we asked him for an amount we believed he should return to us. He agreed to this amount in an email and then has refused to pay us. He does not return our emails, he does not return our texts. This is the first time I have ever left a bad review for anyone. In this case, it is the right thing to do. Sam Tuttle is not ethical. He took advantage of me and my 82 year old mother. He lied to us. He mismanaged the funds and walked off the job in anger. I do not suggest you use him for any service. We regret trusting in him and allowing him into our home. Do not use his services. Stay away!! read more

First off, we love Sam. He is jack of all trades when it comes to remodeling, he is friendly, honest, and became a part of our family while remodeling our three bathrooms. Sam truly blew us away with our french door install. His turn around time from when we contacted him to completion was 2 days. The quality of his construction skills was top notch and the doors were hung perfectly. As a mom I really enjoyed his people skills with my 5 year old. He made my son laugh several times which was nice, and his assistant is his twenty something son who was also very personable. We reached out to Sam here on Yelp and he was quick to respond that he would be able to handle our project (wall removal and adding any support beam that was needed). He came out quickly to look at our space, we had a great chat with him and were really excited to work with him. He said he would work on some numbers and send us a quote. Unfortunately, he never did. I texted him 3 days after the site visit and he asked for another week. It's now been 3 weeks since we met him and he hasn't reached out at all so I guess that means he isn't interested. Austin We Fix It is without a doubt the most dishonest, fraudulent and unprofessional company I have ever worked with. The company "Austin We Fix It" is basically Samuel (Sam) Tuttle and anyone else in his family he can get to help him or sub-par contractors. The work I hired Samuel Tuttle to do started in January of 2016. The work is still not finished and he will not come back. I had to threaten to sue him to get him to come back to do more work. I paid Sam for materials, but he spent the money on his truck payment (he said) and then disappeared for THREE months. He said he couldn't come back because he didn't have enough money to pick up the materials, which was only $660 - which I had already paid for with the advance I gave him. I ended up having to pay for the materials directly with the company so that Sam could finish the work. The quality of the work he and his crew deliver is deplorable. Happy to share pictures with anyone interested in seeing the "quality" of his work. The work I hired Sam Tuttle to do consisted of: * Interior painting - Walls, ceiling, trim * New porcelain tile floors * New crown * Cabinet stain/touch-up * Roof-top metal caps * New baseboards * Door trim & seals * Staining an outside deck Endless promises. "I can do anything", yet delivers very few and the ones that are delivered are so poorly done it's not worth the aggravation and frustration in the end. Austin We Fix It is basically a used car salesman company.... over promises, under delivers and always wants more money. More money up front yet can't seem to buy the necessary supplies and materials for the job, which causes projects to drag on for months and months. It's a shell game of getting money from new customers to get materials to finish or half finish a job started 3 months ago because you spent the client's money on anything but the materials to do their job. I would not recommend Samuel Tuttle or his company Austin We Fix IT to anyone for anything! I heard the same story month after month - "I'm out of money, I have so much other work to do, I need more money from you, I can't make my truck payment, I'm over-drawn in my checking account, can I get another advance" All things I have heard from Sam since February / March of 2016. After working with a lot of handymen, I can tell you Sam Tuttle of Austin We Fix It is the real deal. He is honest and hard working. He is also a good guy. Even though he was booked solid, I had a leaking water main and he made sure to fit me in and get it fixed. I have used Sam on multiple jobs on more than one property and my only wish is that he was less busy so I could get more of his time. The other good thing about Sam is he is honest about what he can do, vs. should not be doing. I've worked with guys that say that they do it all, and turns out they do. They do it all....wrong! Re: Sam Tuttle of Austin We Fix It The closet/linen room adjacent to our master bedroom/bath is about 136 square feet with an irregular lay-out. A pipe broke in the wall soaking the wall studs, carpet, pad, insulation, sheetrock, baseboard. After having a plumber repair the pipe, my dog Lucky and I were very fortunate to run into Sam Tuttle during a walk through our neighborhood. We asked him to take a look at the repair/remodel job we wanted. He replaced several large holes of sheetrock and taped/floated/texturized/painted that area. He painted the ceiling white and painted all of the walls Techno-Gray 50% to match the walls in the master bed and bathroom which we previously had painted. He removed the damaged rug/pad/nail strips and replaced with tile/grout to match the bathroom tile perfectly, having to make many tile cuts. He replaced the damaged baseboard and replaced/caulked/painted all of the baseboards and the added shoe molding, making impressive, perfect cuts to follow the walls. Sam is a skilled master at all of these various tasks and a very dependable person. There is no sign of a patch anywhere, and the work is more professional than someone who advertises him/herself as a a professional painter or tile setter or carpenter would do. And he recycled tile boxes and cleaned up the paper masking afterwards! The closet looks better than it did before the pipe leak. We are really amazed by it. Sam is a really nice person to have around, and he was with us for over a week, because each of the tasks required some waiting period for paint/texturizer/'mud'/tile/caulk/grout, etc. to dry or cure. He had to drive for over an hour from his house for each visit. He is willing to work weekends to get the job done properly. He charges reasonable prices for all of the hours he spends on the job and in locating perfectly matching baseboards, grout, etc. and in driving to and from the job. He carefully saved all of his receipts to share with us. We look forward to calling on Sam again when another pipe breaks and/or we have storm damage or think of something else to remodel. Sam also received the seal of approval from Lucky who is missing him today. Thank you, Sam, for making a great experience out of a scary one. read more

After calling about 6 other handyman services---few of which ever got back to me, I was thrilled when Sam at Austin We Fix It picked up the phone himself when I called. He was also one of the few willing to come out and look at the property and give me a bid---which was very reasonable. He worked quickly & efficiently ---replacing some kitchen tiles that were broken during a plumbing job & repairing the drywall that had also been cut out during the same plumbing work. In fact, he went beyond simply patching the drywall (which is what I expected) and instead replaced a huge piece so it would be more consistent. I've known Sam a long time and he can fix anything. My wife and I use him regularly for our home and for our rental properties. Whether it's a small fix or a major overhaul, Sam always does a great job, he works quickly and professionally, and has a solid crew to help when needed. He has installed doors, converted the back or our garage to a pantry, fixed hot water heaters and ovens, installed lighting and about a hundred other things for us. Most recently he converted an unused, moldy room into an office from which I write this review. Everything is solid, not moldy, and beautiful. We had one problem with some tile popping up in the middle of the floor, which happens with all the tile in the rest of the house (not installed by Sam and not serviced as well either). Sam came out the next week, gently pulled up all the loose tile without breaking it, and stuck it all back down. Looks great and isn't loose any longer. read more

We were very fortunate to have gotten Sam Tuttle, owner of Austin We Fix It, to repair the damage a water leak had caused in a large closet last year, so we knew his skills as a carpenter, remodeler, painter and tile setter as well as his work ethic. He had done a perfect job. Our house is 5 years old, and the builder had installed a pre-formed white faux stone surround to the fireplace. The mantlepiece was too high and made the ceiling look low. The fireplace was way off-center on the wall. The fireplace mantlepiece extended an inch into the TV cabinet grotto, causing them to look crammed together, and the TV cabinet and surround were completely incompatible in style and color. After building our house, I have noticed that Taylor-Morrison corrected these fireplace design flaws in building our same model home in other homes in our neighborhood. We really disliked that fireplace. We found a photo of a cool fireplace after looking for over a year, and contacted a contractor who made a very large bid and told us to buy a certain amount of tile. His measurements were wrong, so we would have bought 3 times as much if we had listened to him. Then we called up Sam. He gave us a reasonable bid, and together we decided on a design similar to the photo but suited to an off-center fireplace, since the firebox could not be moved. Sam set up a tent to control dust, removed a curtain and shade and then demolished the old fireplace and framed up the new one with an extended hearth, using special boards that would support heavy stone tile. Although he is an expert tile-setter himself, his schedule was already full, so he referred another tile-setter to us. Curtis Blodgett of A Custom Creation, met with Sam and us to discuss the project and see our tile, and then he did an expert and complicated job of cutting the thick Travertine tile and the copper-veneered tile and laying it perfectly on the wooden foundation Sam had built. Sam returned and finished painting the wall and replacing and painting baseboard. Sam always does a perfect clean-up after his jobs.The project was completed in a week. The fireplace is beautiful. The ceiling looks higher, the fireplace and TV cabinet are compatible in color and style and not crammed together, and the off-center fireplace is balanced now by the extended hearth! Sam has a LOT of knowledge about all areas of construction, and detail is important to him. He has to drive a long distance to come to our house but makes as many trips as necessary to do the job right. Sam was assisted by his very nice and very capable son, Elliott. We thank them both for an amazing job! (And our dog, Lucky is waiting for you to come back. He does want to be your truck dog after all.) read more
