The bathtub in our rental property was in desperate need of repair after our tenant moved out (see the before pictures I've posted). I didn't have the budget to do a complete renovation so I got onto Yelp to find a reasonably priced company that would do a decent job resurfacing. Out of all the companies I contacted, Jose was the first person to respond to my request for a quote (he reached out to me in an hour or so). I read a review on here that says he does the classic "under promise and over deliver." I completely agree. He gave me a quote, but warned me it could be higher if they found some issues when they dug into the work. Thankfully we had none of those issues! We nailed down the scheduling over text, which for me is the most convenient way to schedule these kinds of things. He was very communicative when he needed to change the schedule by a day. Also, he was incredibly polite, professional, and attentive in all my interactions with him. They did the job in about 4 hours and I was blown away by how nice it looks. Not only did he fix the cracks and holes in the tub, but he also removed an outdated metal bar (for handing washcloths) and completely restored the tile around the top of the tub. The whole bathtub started as a dingy yellowed thing, and now gleams in a beautiful white color. Again, see the after pictures I posted. After they finished, Jose verbally went over how to care for the tub with me, and then he emailed me written instructions as well. In addition to that, Jose also gave me suggestions for replacing the hardware in the shower (you'll notice in the pictures there's no shower head or water handles...those are coming soon:). I absolutely could not be happier with All Surface and the job they did on a nasty rusted tub that I thought would require a costly replacement of probably $2K or more including labor. But I shot over a picture to All Surface, they said they could handle it, they refinished it, and it literally looks like it rolled straight out of the factory (and for roughly 1/4th the price of a replacement). The work is perfect, communications great, the price for the amount of work is very fair, and we are thrilled with the end result. These guys get 5 out of 5 with no need to round up ... Called them and jose answered the phone. Wanted to ask a question about an issue I was having and inquire about service. He answered the phone i then proceeded to explain what the issue was as i was talking i was interrupt. When i tried to explain again i was again interrupted. I needed my kitchen sink refinished. I had it done 4 years ago when I moved into my condo. Much to my surprise - bath tubs are the hot items. Every resurfacing company does bath tubes. Finally I found Jose at "All Surface Renew" and he asked me if I really needed it or would it be better to just replace the sink. I could not do that because the sink was an odd shape and also heavy duty granite was surrounding it and was cut out to fit the odd shaped sink. It would be way too expensive to get ride of both the sink and the granite and replace both. Jose asked me to send pictures which I did and he realized I could not replace it easily so he said he would do the job. I was so so so relieved just at the statement along with reading his reviews on Google and Yelp. Just about all Surface Renews have 5 stars. It looked to me like they beat many other refinishing companies I saw and they were going to do my sink I was elated. I don't mean this review to be negative - just informative. Jose was very responsive. He and his crew were prompt, considerate and did a good job on the refinish. The downside to the refinish was unexpected. I had reservations about refinishing rather than replacing. The web site FAQ addressed this with the following: "Q. How durable are refinished bathtubs? A. All Surface Renew uses the most technologically advanced coating available to us. These finishes are specially designed to stand up to daily use and don't require special care." Well, the care instructions I received after the tub refinish indicated something entirely different: "6. Please DO NOT USE abrasive cleaners like scouring pads, steel wool, Comet. Etc..." It is pretty common to used cleansers like comet, ajax, etc to clean a tub. When soap scum builds up it is actually the most effective. Like I indicated, I am happy with the look of the results. If I were selling the house and just wanted a new look to the tub this process would make sense. But, I am not planning to sell. If I had to do it over again I would have used the cost towards replacement with a durable material rather than the refinishing. read more

I own a few houses and have dealt with literally dozens of different contractors over the years, and I wish even a fourth of them provided the great experience that José did. I needed the wall cut out of a cast iron bathtub to make it accessible for an elderly neighbor. José quoted $975, which seemed a bit high for a few hours of work and not much materials, but that was actually cheaper that the quote from the only other company in town that does the same kind of work, so I went for it. The quality of the work was then so good and the interaction with José so excellent that it made me forget about the cost. The crew showed up on time, José explained the process clearly, and asked good questions about preferences. He ran a fan ducted to the outside to make sure there was no metal dust left in the bathroom. He offered to add a nonslip coating to the bottom of the tub at no additional cost, which didn't just make it nonslip, it now looks brand-new. He also recaulked the whole tub, installed a missing plate for the overflow, and lowered the shower curtain rod (even though it had been originally nailed in), all at no additional cost, and he checked with me before doing these things to get my approval. OK. I am a professional contractor. I have been in business for going on 8 years. I thought I was pretty good at customer relations. So, I have to admit, I have been one upped. This guy sets the high bar for the rest of us guys. So, let me tell you how. Many months ago, we started looking for a bathtub refinishing company. My wife found this guy on Yelp. (I have actually run into him several times while doing my own work as a handyman.) We invited him to come and give us an estimate for a refinish, and we set a date on the calendar a few months later.(That would be for today.) So, here's what he did right: 1) Called ahead to confirm the time and address. 2) Told us when to expect him. 3) Showed up on time. 4) Came prepared to work. 5) Was extremely polite as were his helpers (who he introduced to me and my wife.) 6) Told us what to expect. 7) Did the work quickly and no muss no fuss. 8) Reviewed the work with me, then asked for payment. 9) Did not ever act like he was in a hurry or rush or anything. 10) Cleaned up his mess and put everything back in place, left no trace. 11) Went over the care of the new finish for the product and explained the warranty in detail. Here's what he did wrong: 1) Nothing 2) Nothing 3) Nothing..... (You get the idea.) Jose, we are impressed. Thank you and your guys for being such professionals. To the rest of us....If you are a business person and you aren't doing everyone of these things that applies to you, everyday, with every client, then print this list and use it for a guideline. I certainly appreciated the way he ran his business and the quality of his work was spot on. It's certainly too early to tell if the new finish is going to hold up, but it has a two year warranty and I feel like it will be a really good finish on the tub. So here's the deal. Old laminate is a pig. Jose and his team are offering the Chanel of lipstick. They spray-coat those old counter tops and back splashes with a slurry of paint, glue, color chips that look like granite, and who knows what else. It STINKS to high heaven while they work, but a night with fans and open windows will get rid of the smell. Jose, and his son Will, are both very nice and easy enough to work with on your project. Jose has an artistic eye and he'll make sure any holes get filled. When there was a paint goober on my counter, they wiped the spot and returned to fill it with a fresh spray down of the entire area. Nice. We priced out getting new laminate, but the added cost of tearing out the sink, dealing with the plumbing, and tiling a back splash was just too much. Watch the youtube videos of Jose at work if you want a better idea of how a job progresses. Obviously, if you can afford a remodel, it'll look like a remodel. He asked me to remove this review, but seeing as he only called after seeing my review, that still counts as a no call, no show in my book. He was apologetic, and I appreciate the apology. However, when someone tells you they are at work and do not have time to sit on the phone with you....let it go. I still stand with a "proceed with caution" and a "eat dinner first" warning. Well, I'm sure this guy would have done a great job and I was very hopeful. But I got a no show. Not even so much as a call to apologize for not showing. I talked to him last Wednesday morning, he said (enthusiastically) that he'd be there between 6:30 and 7 that evening. By 8PM, I gave up and went and got myself dinner. We are moving so we needed to do something with our outdated '80s pink bathroom countertop and almond kitchen countertop and bar. I found All Surface Renew on Yelp and based on reviews, decided to go for it. They showed up around 9:30 a.m. and left by 5 p.m. During that time, they resurfaced the kitchen and bathroom counters, and three bathroom sinks. Cost? Little over $1,000. If we had chosen granite tile for the kitchen, it would have cost us so much more. Both rooms look like brand new. We just keep staring at the countertops. They are beautiful! Jose was very friendly and informative. I had a couple of issues with Will (didn't get the quote from him like he said so I had to hunt it down and then he wouldn't respond to texts, just phone calls [and I have a newborn so it is hard to get on the phone]), but that was a small grievance compared to the service and quality we got from Jose. This company more than lives up to their promise of 100% customer satisfaction. I am a big fan of Will's and will absolutely hire them again. While they do many kinds of resurfacing, I hired Will and his Dad to resurface an old, chipped bathtub. Their prices are more than competitive and my bathtub looks better than new! My only minor complaint is that there was a huge amount of dust over every bathroom and bedroom surface when the job was completed. We had to spend about an hour cleaning up and washing linens. It might have been helpful for them to close the bathroom door while doing the work. To their credit, Will and his Dad returned within 48 hours and made the bathroom spic and span, plus Will did a litle touch up work on the guest bathroom for no charge. Stepping into our shower was not a pleasant experience in the past. Cracked and discolored, with caulking that would fall off after a few months, it did not match the rest of the enclosure or adjacent tub. When I called Jose, he asked questions and went into detail on exactly how they could, within a couple of hours, fix the shower pan - not just cosmetically but reinforcing the underside of the pan to prevent future problems.
