Koren was super pleasant to work with all around. Fast, clear communication before the initial meeting. A lot of a great ideas during the initial meeting, for how to keep our project within budget, and where it was worth splurging or dialing back. We had requested a bid on two main projects (Kitchen and Primary Bathroom) and help deciding the scope for the remainder of our projects (Flooring, Guest Bath, Office, Patio, Etc.). We were shocked by how much of the "bonus" projects we could fit in, and yet felt very confident with Koren's insights that these were realistically within our budget. The formal quote came in REALLY fast after our meeting, and was very easy to follow and extremely fairly priced. Was very impressed with how quickly they were ready to begin the work, and the forethought of asking us if we planned to "live-in" during the remodel vs. get an AirBNB or the like. I didn't have the budget to do a complete renovation so I got onto Yelp to find a reasonably priced company that would do a decent job resurfacing. Out of all the companies I contacted, Jose was the first person to respond to my request for a quote (he reached out to me in an hour or so). I read a review on here that says he does the classic "under promise and over deliver." I completely agree. He gave me a quote, but warned me it could be higher if they found some issues when they dug into the work. Thankfully we had none of those issues! We nailed down the scheduling over text, which for me is the most convenient way to schedule these kinds of things. He was very communicative when he needed to change the schedule by a day. Also, he was incredibly polite, professional, and attentive in all my interactions with him. They did the job in about 4 hours and I was blown away by how nice it looks. Not only did he fix the cracks and holes in the tub, but he also removed an outdated metal bar (for handing washcloths) and completely restored the tile around the top of the tub. The whole bathtub started as a dingy yellowed thing, and now gleams in a beautiful white color. Again, see the after pictures I posted. After they finished, Jose verbally went over how to care for the tub with me, and then he emailed me written instructions as well. In addition to that, Jose also gave me suggestions for replacing the hardware in the shower (you'll notice in the pictures there's no shower head or water handles...those are coming soon:). I highly recommend Jose and All Surface Renew. When it comes time to resurface the tub in my other property, I'll be contacting Jose again!

But I shot over a picture to All Surface, they said they could handle it, they refinished it, and it literally looks like it rolled straight out of the factory (and for roughly 1/4th the price of a replacement). The work is perfect, communications great, the price for the amount of work is very fair, and we are thrilled with the end result. These guys get 5 out of 5 with no need to round up ... I'd give 'em a 6 out of 5 if I could :-)

While I had a basic idea of what I wanted, I debated getting a formal project manager to handle coordination of the full install. With a ton of experience doing this kind of install, Marcus helped out so much that I was pretty much able to handle coordination of the main pieces and personnel without needing to hire anyone else. He did a great job making the vision come alive and was transparent with any problems that arises (and importantly fixing them when necessary). He was friendly, fair with pricing, and also very quick-- framing and installation took only 2 separate, spread out days (to allow for drywalling and parts arrival in between). My personal experience with him in terms of communication was excellent, but I also purposefully avoided peak summer season so as not to catch him at a busy time. I would not hesitate to hire him again.

After they finished painting my house, a few weeks later after heavy rains I noticed a stain on the ceiling of a guest bedroom. I knew immediately it was the long nagging problem of the "dead valley" along my roof. The house was designed and built according to the architect's drawings to have the roof of the first floor bedroom run into the siding of the house. It was a short "run" and rainfall should go quickly into the gutters. But, this was built under a big, old oak tree and for many years, I've had leaves and twigs built up, damming up the water. If I can remember it, I have to get up on a ladder with a rake and rake the leaves away from where the shingles meet the siding. After one major hailstorm, I had the roof replaced and when they replacing it, I asked them to build something to reduce the leave/branch damming. They did build it, but apparently not big enough. It lasted probably 14-15 years until this recent Spring. Since I had a good experience with 21st Century, I called them out to give me a bid on repairing what was probably rotted trim and exposed flashing and other rot elsewhere. And while they were at it, I asked them to build me a better diverter away from the siding. They came out and took care of it in a day. The guy was there from 8:30 to 5:00, taking a break for lunch, but got it done. Since they were also the painters, they asked me for the leftover paint they left for me (for touch-up) that came in handy as they had to replace the rotten trim and as it turned out a section of the roof decking. Attached are the pictures they took for the bid and then afterwards when they were complete. They were detailed enough to ask me first, "hey, this diversion we're putting in is a lighter grey then your shingles. Are you okay with that? We can go back and get darker materials". I said that was fine. No one can see that part of the roof and so it was trivial to me. The only negative thing from the painting and the roofing experience is so minor it's not worth taking away a star is that there will be a gap between when you sign and return the contract and they contact you about scheduling the actual work. In both cases, I had to drop them a line to remind them I was in the queue. Being a service that can't work when it's raining, I can understand that they have days where scheduled work is delayed and that causes a snowball effect of delays.

He did what he said and was honest when he had to reschedule something. On top of that, he was always friendly and direct. Josh listened carefully to exactly what we needed, talked out any possible issues we'd have, and accounted for all the outlets and such that would have to brought out through the piece. We also had to re-do the crown moulding around the piece, and he noticed the poor installation of the rest of the moulding in the room, so he agreed to re-do the rest of the moulding, too. He's meticulous and thorough. We got to watch the progress as he built the piece, because he posts pictures on his Twitter account, which is great! The installation went smoothly, and the final piece looks great (as you can see in the picture) - it's exactly what we wanted and discussed. The new moulding also looks great! The cabinets and walls needed a total refresh of paint, and all that new woodwork had tons of caulking/filling/sanding/priming etc to do. Then we needed new crown molding added to our half bath, and there were several sheetrock patches plus some ceiling cracks which needed good prepping and feathering in. Also, our front and back doors needed to be repainted. So - a lot of work! And I am picky about quality. I chose Austin Professional Painting because they seemed well organized, well qualified, and ready to go at a scale of enough workers that we could get back to living in the downstairs of our house in a reasonable amount of time. Their comfort with good quality paint was also a key factor in my choice. So: the guys who came out to do the work, Carlos and Ivan - plus another couple of guys on certain days, were very nice, polite, and extremely hard working. They did a very good job and I am satisfied with the work. I would hire Austin Professional Painters again (and probably will this fall when we get around to renewing the master bath), and I definitely recommend them. I had MP Drywall and Remodeling, owned by Mark Pitz, remodel my bathroom, and I couldn't be happier with the results. The project included removing the bathtub and installing a shower, painting the room, and installing a new sink faucet, flooring, and a door. I absolutely love my new bathroom--it's now the most comfortable and beautiful room in the house. MP Drywall and Remodeling wasn't the cheapest quote I received, but they were very reasonably priced and right in the mid-range of the estimates. I chose them because they had previously done an excellent job installing a new floor and repairing a wall at my daughter's house, and they did not disappoint. The installation time was reasonable, and Mark was diligent about keeping me informed of any delays or issues, which were minimal. The workers were friendly, skilled, and efficient, and the quality of the work really shows. I can't say enough good things about this company or this remodel. Mark was great to work with, and I never felt like he was trying to nickel-and-dime me, which I've unfortunately experienced in the past. I partnered with Mark & MP Drywall for two projects: a barn door installation and again for a much bigger garage to home office conversion. Mark is always super responsive and takes complete ownership of his projects. Even when unexpected things cropped up, Mark never tried to shirk responsibility and always worked with us to find a solution as quickly as possible. As far as quality and workmanship, he wasn't happy unless I was happy and I have no doubt that he will stand behind his work. For various reasons the project took a lot longer than expected, but at times Mark rolled up his sleeves and jumped in himself to get things over the line. You can tell Mark at MP Drywall knows his stuff when it comes to matching texture and installing drywall. He was always on time and his crewman was always rearing to get started. I hired Eliab of The Good Tile to remove our 90s bleh kitchen floor tile, remove our backsplash…read moretile, and install over 300 square feet of new flooring tile plus new backsplash, and extensive accent wall tiling in the backsplash tile. My new floor tile has a pattern, and the backsplash tiles were 2.4" x 8" ceramic hand glaze ceramic tiles, and so neither would be easy to install unless the tile installer was very skilled. I thought the review photos on Yelp showed Eliab already has an extensive body of work done well, and I loved that he specializes in tile so I knew that he should be very competent at it. And he and his guys Salvi and Rafael were excellent! They worked hard and did very precise work. That was a ton of cuts and joints to line up perfectly with all that subway tile, and it looks wonderful. The cuts around light switches and power receptacles: also precise. He was as good as his word about showing up, doing it right, and cleaning up as they went. He earned my trust, was good to work with, and I would happily hire him again. I definitely recommend! I will post pictures for now as is - but keep in mind the construction is still going on so they will not look as great as they should. I'll try to remember to update our photos when the remodel is truly done.

You keep trying to reduce this to a "misunderstanding" about the plumber, but that is not what happened. You recommended and coordinated the plumber as part of the project, and the plumber stated that you already knew the correct rate. Yet I was quoted a lower amount up front, which made the situation feel like a bait-and-switch once the job was already underway. You cannot bring someone into the project, benefit from the job, and then act like his pricing and your communication had nothing to do with you. Your claim that you did not leave anything unfinished is also contradicted by the photos I uploaded. The kitchen tile work was not completed. That is not an opinion. That is visible in the photos. Your latest claim that you "only charged for what was carried out" is also misleading. I paid for the majority of the kitchen tile work, and the kitchen was still left unfinished. Saying you did not charge for the uncompleted portion does not erase the fact that I paid substantial money toward a job that you did not complete, then had to hire another contractor to finish. The most serious issue is that you were supposed to return the following week to finish the tile work and dispose of the tub. I texted you to confirm the schedule and materials. You did not return my calls. Then you did not show up. That is not a misunderstanding. That is a no-call/no-show. A professional business owner does not ignore a customer, fail to show up, leave visible unfinished work, and then publicly try to rewrite the facts. This was a horrendous experience involving misleading pricing, unfinished work, ignored calls, a no-show, and added expense. Homeowners should look closely at the photos and be extremely careful before allowing The Good Tile into their home or paying them for a project.

After they finished painting my house, a few weeks later after heavy rains I noticed a stain on the ceiling of a guest bedroom. I knew immediately it was the long nagging problem of the "dead valley" along my roof. The house was designed and built according to the architect's drawings to have the roof of the first floor bedroom run into the siding of the house. It was a short "run" and rainfall should go quickly into the gutters. But, this was built under a big, old oak tree and for many years, I've had leaves and twigs built up, damming up the water. If I can remember it, I have to get up on a ladder with a rake and rake the leaves away from where the shingles meet the siding. After one major hailstorm, I had the roof replaced and when they replacing it, I asked them to build something to reduce the leave/branch damming. They did build it, but apparently not big enough. It lasted probably 14-15 years until this recent Spring. Since I had a good experience with 21st Century, I called them out to give me a bid on repairing what was probably rotted trim and exposed flashing and other rot elsewhere. And while they were at it, I asked them to build me a better diverter away from the siding. They came out and took care of it in a day. The guy was there from 8:30 to 5:00, taking a break for lunch, but got it done. Since they were also the painters, they asked me for the leftover paint they left for me (for touch-up) that came in handy as they had to replace the rotten trim and as it turned out a section of the roof decking. Attached are the pictures they took for the bid and then afterwards when they were complete. They were detailed enough to ask me first, "hey, this diversion we're putting in is a lighter grey then your shingles. Are you okay with that? We can go back and get darker materials". I said that was fine. No one can see that part of the roof and so it was trivial to me. The only negative thing from the painting and the roofing experience is so minor it's not worth taking away a star is that there will be a gap between when you sign and return the contract and they contact you about scheduling the actual work. In both cases, I had to drop them a line to remind them I was in the queue. Being a service that can't work when it's raining, I can understand that they have days where scheduled work is delayed and that causes a snowball effect of delays.
