The cabinets and walls needed a total refresh of paint, and all that new woodwork had tons of caulking/filling/sanding/priming etc to do. Then we needed new crown molding added to our half bath, and there were several sheetrock patches plus some ceiling cracks which needed good prepping and feathering in. Also, our front and back doors needed to be repainted. So - a lot of work! And I am picky about quality. I chose Austin Professional Painting because they seemed well organized, well qualified, and ready to go at a scale of enough workers that we could get back to living in the downstairs of our house in a reasonable amount of time. Their comfort with good quality paint was also a key factor in my choice. So: the guys who came out to do the work, Carlos and Ivan - plus another couple of guys on certain days, were very nice, polite, and extremely hard working. They did a very good job and I am satisfied with the work. I would hire Austin Professional Painters again (and probably will this fall when we get around to renewing the master bath), and I definitely recommend them. So, we developed an informal prospectus based on this assumption. Sometime later, we happened upon a poster advertising That 1 Painter, a licensed and bonded enterprise based in the Treasure Valley. Their reviews were strongly favorable and more so noteworthy was that T1P had been voted Best of Idaho twice (among many other plaudits)! So, when we were ready we contacted them with the intention that they would provide us with our first estimate. We were visited by Ruth Brinton, a professional house painter and owner of T1P. She presented well with confidence and comprehension. She looked at many things that we would have likely overlooked. She made many observations and shared her thoughts with us. She also looked at the property and made recommendations regarding colors to not only enhance the house, but also to optimize the use of colors that would give balance and compliment to the property on the whole. The next day, we received the detailed estimate for the job. We were stunned to learn that T1P would do the job for well below our most auspicious estimates! All the information we had gathered convinced us that we did not have need to solicit another estimate. Within a month's time (from initial contact) our house was very nicely and professionally cleaned, prepped and painted. The crew performing the work were polite, friendly and professional. Clearly, the team at T1P are committed to customer service and satisfaction. We offer a solid 5-star review and our full endorsement.

After they finished painting my house, a few weeks later after heavy rains I noticed a stain on the ceiling of a guest bedroom. I knew immediately it was the long nagging problem of the "dead valley" along my roof. The house was designed and built according to the architect's drawings to have the roof of the first floor bedroom run into the siding of the house. It was a short "run" and rainfall should go quickly into the gutters. But, this was built under a big, old oak tree and for many years, I've had leaves and twigs built up, damming up the water. If I can remember it, I have to get up on a ladder with a rake and rake the leaves away from where the shingles meet the siding. After one major hailstorm, I had the roof replaced and when they replacing it, I asked them to build something to reduce the leave/branch damming. They did build it, but apparently not big enough. It lasted probably 14-15 years until this recent Spring. Since I had a good experience with 21st Century, I called them out to give me a bid on repairing what was probably rotted trim and exposed flashing and other rot elsewhere. And while they were at it, I asked them to build me a better diverter away from the siding. They came out and took care of it in a day. The guy was there from 8:30 to 5:00, taking a break for lunch, but got it done. Since they were also the painters, they asked me for the leftover paint they left for me (for touch-up) that came in handy as they had to replace the rotten trim and as it turned out a section of the roof decking. Attached are the pictures they took for the bid and then afterwards when they were complete. They were detailed enough to ask me first, "hey, this diversion we're putting in is a lighter grey then your shingles. Are you okay with that? We can go back and get darker materials". I said that was fine. No one can see that part of the roof and so it was trivial to me. The only negative thing from the painting and the roofing experience is so minor it's not worth taking away a star is that there will be a gap between when you sign and return the contract and they contact you about scheduling the actual work. In both cases, I had to drop them a line to remind them I was in the queue. Being a service that can't work when it's raining, I can understand that they have days where scheduled work is delayed and that causes a snowball effect of delays.

I was searching through yelp for a drywall guy to do a repair job and contacted a bunch of vendors here on yelp but the only person who was actually able to come out to scope the work was Omar. He was always kept the lines of communication open (be it with scheduling or if there were questions regarding the job) and was very quick & efficient with his work. He includes pictures of the repair work before and after for insurance as well (I didn't even have to ask). He's was very professional and nice as many of the reviewers have said. I did some work in my attic and accidentally stepped on the sheetrock and cracked the ceiling underneath. Called Omar Roa (the owner) and he responded quickly and came in person to give us a free estimate. The quote for the repair was about half the price of other Austin contractors on Yelp. His repair was very thorough, covering the entire section of the room with tarp to catch dusts and drywall compounds. These guys did a REALLY good job. I got a text right away, they were available when I needed them and the price was fair. When you have a good size hole in the wall of your new house and have already paid an electrician, you are vulnerable, but ROA did not take advantage, did great work and did it at a fair price. read more

They not only came out and gave a quote, but said they could do it that same day! Way sooner than other places that gave quotes but wouldn't be available for a week or so. Some places wouldn't even do a job unless it was $2000 or more to make it worth their time, which my job was in the low $100s at best. They listened to my concern about another board that looked to have a portion rotted and they were able to include replacing the rotted part and not create additional seams between the boards--something I hadn't thought possible! Highlights are: good communication, great workmanship, timely service, friendly service. I definitely recommend this business!

Around 9:15am, I contact Gabriel through Yelp to ensure he's still coming to take measurements. He writes that he missed a flight yesterday, will be back today at 3pm, and asks if he come by then. Two things to look for in a contractor: reliability and communication. The fact Gabriel didn't proactively inform me about this clear problem, instead letting me waste more than an hour waiting for him is a red flag and says nothing good about Cap City Contractors. Quickly moving on to the next company...

Zac Barger (our realtor who was also great) told us he knew of someone to take care of the work we needed on our home. "I've used them before. They do great work." He was right! Our home had foundation issues originally. We got them fixed (And a lifetime warranty to boot!), but if you saw all the cracks in our wall from the house shifting, you'd never know it. Luis, in no time, got the inside of our home to reflect the safe, brand new structure that we now had inside. He was polite, gave us a good price and paid attention to details (Our white paints were apparently not all the same shade, so he repainted them all for free. We paid for the paint, but he would have done that too since it wasn't in the original quote). He even called a week or so after the repairs were done to see how we were doing. They apparently fix fences and do a lot of other work (They offer interior and exterior painting, carpentry, fence and deck building/repairs, staining, flooring, counter tops and popcorn ceiling removal). Amazing experience, great detailed work and really reasonable prices. Hire them!
