I do not leave negative reviews lightly, but this experience warrants transparency. I contacted Ryan through Thumbtack for a clearly defined virtual design walk-through in support of a client project. In my initial outreach, I explicitly stated that this was a virtual consultation and outlined the scope in detail. Ryan responded that he could handle the work and was interested. We confirmed logistics multiple times, including the evening before and again the morning of the appointment. My client rearranged her schedule, and I rearranged mine to coordinate a live virtual walkthrough at the property. Ryan did not arrive at the agreed-upon time. After the scheduled time passed, I called -- no answer. I sent a message asking him to confirm arrival -- no response. Two and a half hours later, he sent a message stating he had been "warned to stay away from these types of jobs" and apologized. There was no prior indication of hesitation, concern, or limitation in scope. If he was unwilling or uncomfortable with the nature of the job, that should have been communicated before confirming and causing both myself and my client to restructure our day. Reliability and communication are non-negotiable in client-facing industries. Unfortunately, this experience demonstrated neither. I cannot recommend based on this interaction. ***Update*** *Ryan attempted to dodge accountability by replying on Thumbtack that he was not given a clear scope. I wasn't sure what to expect, as I've never used a repairman before, but repairing my house siding was outside my comfort zone AND my dad's skills. They got back to me QUICKLY, and were able to complete the job well within the timeline my insurance company had given me. It's flawless -- you can't even tell it was ever damaged. So so happy with it -- its a huge burden set down. I also want to commend HMB for their customer service -- I brought some concerns to the owner/project manager Ryan, and I felt heard by him the first time. Rayan did a great overview for making house ready. I asked to do it remotely. He provided good pictures with explanations and details. He advised on inspection might be needed to claim the warranty. UPDATE The owner responded to my Yelp review so I figured I'd give them another chance. I have no way to contact him personally so I sent the business a message saying I'd like to take him up on his offer and.... nobody called or emailed me back. ORIGINAL: I asked them for a quote on replacing a cabinet door in my kitchen. They responded immediately asking for a picture and then didn't respond for several days. They then sent over a quote that was incorrect. I mentioned that and asked for a revised quote. They are now just not responding. If you can't do the job, just say so. Ghosting doesn't do anyone any good. Don't waste your time with them. read more

Professional, responsive and honest - Don't even know where to begin with these guys. Ryan sent Guillermo to help me fix up a few issues at one of my properties in Austin, while I am out of state. Guillermo was super responsive and maintained an open line of communication throughout the whole time. He let me know what needed to be done before he did it. In addition, he was super professional and honest. Was able to conveniently work with him through text. I had a question about the bill. Ryan called and fixed it immediately. I contacted this handyman through help for a quote and he wanted to take the communication off of the app's messaging and to my direct phone number. Setting up an appointment through Ryan was very simple. I really like the trend these days of doing everything through text messages...it's so convenient. The contractor showed up at my home on time to replace caulk and sealant for my bathtub and shower. The job got done quickly and it looks much nicer! Originally wanted to have the shower bleach cleaned, but the grout ended up being too old to clean effectively. The communication with these guys is fantastic. Josh organized everything. Guillermo is who did the work and my tenants said he was wonderful. He did several things, sheet rock repair, new faucet in the kitchen sink, sliding glass door, and a kitchen drawer; you know the kinds of things you just live with until you finally decide you have to get the things fixed. They got me on their schedule within 2 or 3 days which was nice. They invoiced me online and have an online payment system. It really was easy & convenient. Handyman & Beyond is amazing. We had hired a different handyman service to assemble a shed. The other handyman service had left the shed half assembled and said it was too difficult.
