First off, it's definitely one of those small, tucked-away spots you could easily miss if you didn't know it was there, but once you walk in, the decor is so cute. Think cozy, shabby chic vibes that make it feel warm and welcoming right away. The standout for me? The dinner roll. Honestly, one of the best I've ever had. It was dense, rich, and satisfying, not your typical light, airy Kaiser roll. It reminded me more of a Jamaican hard dough bread in texture and weight, which I personally loved. I have been dying to try this place after I saw some social media videos about it! This place has 5 stars for a reason and totally lives up to the hype. All the pastries are made fresh every morning with great quality ingredients. You can taste it! They also make all their syrups in house. Their vanilla uses real vanilla beans! You can see all the vanilla specks in the latte, cinnamon roll, and anything that uses vanilla extract/syrup. My partner got the vietnamese coffee. Although not authentic, tasted delicious. My vanilla latte was equally delicious. A latte with a hint of sweetness. Perfect. Our favorite items were definitely their biscuits! Not dry to all! Super moist and very flavorful. Their cinnamon roll, petit pastries and chocolate croissant were tasty as well. I have to talk about the service! The person that was at the register helping us was just the sweetest person! I've been coming here for years and even when I moved out of state. I still make sure I stop by for treats. The owner Khamla is such a sweetheart!! By some miracle, she remembers me and always ask about my mom. This bakery is the best place to get an almond croissant. I've tried them other place, even internationally and nothing can touch hers (just make sure you pre-order any of the stuffed croissants). She puts some much love into her baking and it shows with every bite. The shop is quaint and charming with seating. And when you walk in the door, the display case will take your breath away. From the moment you walk in the door, to when you are choosing from a selection of the most delicious pastries you've ever had, to being rung up at the register - you feel like you're walking into a friend's home and they are ready to take care of you. There are a handful of third spaces and bakery/cafes where my partner and I are regulars, and BouNom is at the top of that list. We can't seem to stay away. Khamla is not only generous with her patrons, but with the community at large. Her space is inclusive, welcoming, and so easy to feel like you can be yourself. It is worth the hike and I highly recommend visiting early to have the best selection of items because they will sell out. They specialize in French and Southern-inspired bakery items. We visited on a Sunday morning, the crowd was steady, but we got through the line quickly and efficiently. There is a small seating area, decorated with blues, cute, cottage style-decor. We scored a table to eat a few of our treats and enjoy our tea and coffee. My mom and I got a variety of goodies from sweet to savory: Scallion Roll, Tomato Bacon Cheese Bite, Blueberry Petite Bite, Wildflower Honey Buttermilk Biscuit, Cinnamon Roll, Caramel Bun, and Latte Bun. For drinks, I got a Matcha Latte with Butterscotch and my mom got a Maple Cardamom Latte. The drinks were piping hot. The pastries and baked goods were phenomenal--where do I start? The Latte Bun was to die for that it had a lot of cocoa and espresso flavor like they grounded up chocolate-covered espresso beans. I anticipated the cinnamon roll to be really good. Shout out to Jason P. for the reco since I learned from his Instagram Reel that BouNom's Cinnamon Roll was on a list and named Connecticut's best cinnamon roll. This cinnamon roll was might just be CT's best... The bun was moist, cinnamon-y and sweet, but the real star for me was the icing. Not too sweet cream cheese icing with vanilla bean. It was SO good! It's surely a must try. Like most bakeries, there items will rotate with a few staples and the offerings maybe different during your visit. I loved my matcha latte because it was perfectly blended, had a lot of flavor, and not too sweet. My mom enjoyed here coffee and we liked that there was a variety of unique flavors like cardamom rose, maple cardamom, and seasonal flavors. All our goodies were packed up in the cutest take home box. They pay close attention to the smallest details. The prices are a bit steep, but the quality is worth it. I tried the breakfast sandwich, cinnabon, two of the peppermint cupcakes, the chocolate croissant, blueberry loaf slice, chocolate chip cookie, a gingerbread molasses cookie (I'm pretty sure this was the name and/or chai cookie), and cappuccino with caramel syrup. The syrups for the coffees are made in house which is great! Personally, my favorite was the gingerbread molasses like cookie. It had the perfect chew. The other goodies didn't not disappoint. The first time we tried to go there, everything was sold out, so they closed early. The second time, I made sure to order ahead prior to pick up. The place was so cute with a sit in area that had your typical cafe vibes. I was surprised there were items left when I went to pick up my order the next morning (Friday) at 11 am. Everything in the showcase looked mouthwatering. I admittedly plan to try everything haha. They sell French and southern inspired pastries. The story of their family immigrating from Laos to the US was similar to my family from Cambodia. It's inspiring to see them become successful! The prices were high but the products were quality; I think it's worth it. I ordered an iced chai latte to go as well; this drink was good. I'm looking forward to trying their hand crafted lemonades next time. The showstoppers were the pastries. I ordered the cinnamon rolls, chocolate croissant, Southern sticky pecan buns, and egg in a hole. The egg in the hole was amazing. I was only planning to take a bite since I already ate my lunch. I couldn't stop and ended up finishing it. It has egg, cheese, chives, and chopped ham/bacon in a croissant. The sticky pecan bun was buttery and sweet; the candied pecans had a sugary crunch to it; the most amazing sticky bun I've ever tasted. My husband had the cinnamon bun and said 10/10. I don't know where to begin . Every once in a while someone knocks it out of the park & this place hit a grand slam in a World Series. I am a trained pastry chef and have worked in some very upscale bakeries in my day . I know what a good bakery is supposed be. First , the interior- it's adorable and bright and cheery . Comfortable seating which allowed us a great break on our 20 mile bike ride. Every thing was wonderful from the staff to the scones and pastry. Their coffee is delicious and staff and owner so nice & helpful . I thought the scones were the best I've ever had. Perfect taste, texture and size. The owner brought my friend who is a reg -a piece of cake to try . It was a slice of yummy heaven . I absolutely love this place . My first experience with BouNom was a summer Sunday back in 2020. I had seen it nominated for best bakery in Connecticut magazine and my family and I decided to take a ride out there to try it. That experience was absolutely life-changing. Not only were the pastries absolutely extraordinary, but I experienced what may have been the most hospitable customer service ever. While my family enjoyed our pastries and cherry lemonade in the exquisitely decorated cafe, the owner came over and sat down with us to chat. She then proceeded to give us a variety of other pastries to try (on the house) and even introduced us to some of her staff before we left. I could not get over that experience and I proceeded to tell everyone I knew that they absolutely had to try BouNom. Since that day, BouNom has become synonymous in my family with special occasions. What do I want for Mother's Day? A trip to BouNom. My daughter's choice for birthday breakfast? BouNom. The fact that it is a bit of a hike for us is no deterrent whatsoever. If we know we are even remotely headed to that area, a suggestion of BouNom is always made and enthusiastically agreed upon. My personal recommendation would be the Cherry Vanilla Cream Cheese croissant. The portion so big that it takes me two days to finish. My daughter would say pain au chocolat or the chocolate chip banana muffin. My husband loves anything with fruit and often bounces around the different specials that are offered. We usually place an order online the night before and, while ordering a coffee during pickup, we might find a few more treats to put in our box. I came here since I went to get my car serviced at Hoffman in Simsbury and have been wanting to come since. I got to the bakery around 11:50 and majority of the baked goods were all sold out. Once everything is sold out they close. I ended up getting the banana chocolate chip muffin and some macrons. The banana chocolate chip muffin was really good. It evens had big slices of banana in it. Definitely different from places that sell banana chocolate chip muffins. Normally the banana will be all mashed up and incorporated into the batter. This one had a one up on all the banana chocolate chip muffins I ever had. It was sooooo good. The place had a cute and inviting vibe once you walk through the doors. I highly recommend this bakery even though majority of the stuff was all sold out. But that in itself tells you how good the place is. Definitely have to try and get there earlier. I cannot not put into words how amazing BouNom is. I drove almost 45 minutes to try this place and it did not disappoint by any means! To put into perspective, I specifically really wanted to try their cinnamon roll and when I arrived, they had let me know they were out for the day. (Tip: do an online order the day before to avoid this!). Instead I ended up getting their Cheddar Chive Bacon Biscuit and Peach Bites, and the owner ended up giving me a free goodies to try knowing I came all this way. That was extremely thoughtful and I was blown away by their customer service. After sitting down and enjoying the ambiance for a bit, one of the staff members come out with a cinnamon roll saying they had an extra in the back and that it was on the house...wow, I was just speechless and couldn't believe it. I want to let you know that was the best cinnamon roll I have ever had, and the cream cheese frosting is to die for. I've been wanting to check out BouNom Cafe & Bakery for a while, but their limited hours have prevented me from doing so. They are also located in a plaza in Avon, where it took me alot of circling around to find them. It was a Friday at 12:00 when I arrived, and they were closing at 2:00, according to the hours on the door. I walked inside to find a beautiful space. There were fresh hydrangeas on each table, lemon wallpaper, and floral chairs. I stood in line to order something. When Khamla the owner of BouNom exclaimed "take it all please", pointing to the remaining slice of cheesecake, a lemon tart and a croissant. What is happening? Well, it seems like they had to close early due to running out of baked goods. They were giving away the remaining products. I went to order iced tea and coffee. Guess what? She didn't charge me for those either. I have never before experienced such generosity! I left a decent tip of course. Because they were closing we had to enjoy everything on the bench outside. This cherry cheesecake was absolutely dreamy, so creamy and fresh! The coffee and the tea were just as we like them. I had the peach ginger iced tea, it was sweet and invigorating! We followed with the croissant, it was flaky and crispy. It was delicious plain, I'm sure they offer other varieties. The next day I had the lemon tart cake. This was a bit tart of course, but so creamy, the outer shell, was soft and melty. When we were done, Khamla saw us struggling to find the trash, she popped out with a trash bag, and offered us to come inside if we needed the restroom. Where do I begin? I live in Long Island, NY and had been hearing about this bakery from friends that live in CT for MONTHS. Well, I planned a trip to CT and made it a point to visit. I was NOT disappointed. The ambiance is Parisian Bistro Chic with floral accents and cool conversational table areas. This place gets slammed so reserve your food early or at least get here early. The service was so inviting and warm. None of that 'too bored to care' attitude worn by so many college age food service workers. The workers here are smiling & engaged. Now the food: I was lucky enough to meet the owner on this visit. She's a charmer and is obviously well invested in her craft. She had great recommendations and was happy to explain ALL the items. I had macaroons, pistachio croissants, pecan sticky bun, caramel bun, cheesy garlic biscuits, crème brûlée, cinnamon buns and flatbread. Even a ham & cheese croissant. I don't know if she makes the ham in house but it is quality ham and you receive a generous slice. Every last thing I tried was high quality and luxurious. I packed up a bunch of goodies to bring back to friends in NY. I just can't keep this one to myself. Asked the owner if she had plans to expand and she was really coy so I can only hope NY will be on the list when and if she does. But I'd happily plan another trip to CT and make BouNom a stop. Last thing, not sure how she does it. But nothing was too sweet. Not the cloying sweetness I often get with pastries (I'm not usually a sweets person). OMG! Lord I should be slapping myself for taking so long to get my butt here. It's about a 20 minute drive without traffic. So I have no excuses. So I had to drive to Avon for a Dr appointment and decided to squeeze a visit in. And I really do mean squeeze cuz I made it here on a Thursday afternoon at 1:45 And they close at 2:00. I was greeted with smiling happy faces. Even though they had almost empty cases I was still able to walk away with some tasty treats and they threw a few extra treats in my box since I was the last customer of the day. Sometimes it's the simple things that taste absolutely sinful like a thin lemon cooke with a drizzle of icing crisp on the outside soft interior with a bright lemon punch. Oh, that Bacon, Scallion and Cheese laced biscuit nice light crunchy exterior on the outside moist tender interior with flecks of cheese and scallions and bacon. It was like heaven. The interior of the bakery is cute but pretty intimate, with a small but very comfortable and well decorated seating section. The star of the show is the large glass counter filled with wonderful desserts and baked goods with some specialties rotating on certain days or holidays. My absolute FAVORITE item (not pictured unfortunately) is the decadent, nutty, caramel-y sticky pecan bun which anyone who loves pecan pie, bread or happiness would love. I also really love their caramel bun, which is croissant-like dough topped with that deep brown caramel. Their cinnamon rolls are also the best I've ever had and their biscuits are flavorful and deeply savory.
