I used to love this place reminded me of Boston but we went recently went (Father's Day) and wasn't the same experience. I will say - the staff was fantastic, so review is not on their direct service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place looks a little run down and unkept. Especially the restrooms.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We went at lunch but only 2 other parties in the indoor portion and tables that were used previously patrons were not bussed for a while so their trash was on tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordered Guinness and it was being put in and warm so couldn't serve it. Makes sense BUT bummer because it's Father's Day and my S.O. couldn't get a Guinness during lunch on Father's Day from a Boston based bar..kind of uncool. Connecticut lobster roll was buttery and fantastic. The chips that came with it were good. My husband's Signature Fish wasn't that great. Rather greasy and didn't taste like our previous visits. Went with a group of friends for drinks and a few of us got dinner too. We got the pretzel to share. It was great! Everyone made a comment about how good it was. Super crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their patio is such a great spot. Large and spacious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The reason for my less than stellar ranking is due to my fish and chips. I got the British style. I love beer bartered fish. This one just was a little too greasy and a little more fishy than I like. My friends tried it and agreed. We did like that you could order a singular crab cake, a few people got that. We shared the Connecticut-style lobstah roll and the fish & chips (cod with natural cut fries), and both were delicious--fresh, well-seasoned, and reasonably priced for the portion. The lobstah roll was buttery and packed with flavor, and the fish had a perfect crunch without being greasy. Bonus points: they even had malt vinegar for the fries! This is the closest to authentic New England seafood I've found in Nashville. we went there last night. first, we got the cheese sticks. they give you around 8 and they're pretty good. I think it came with two different sauces. I ordered the pick three. two pieces of fried, panko encrusted cod and clam strips. the fish and strips were great. the meal came with two sides. First time here after an even in East Nashville. Staff was great, very friendly. We had a group of 10 & we all enjoyed our food. Some for clam chowder & I got clam growder (clam chowder & grits) it was sooooo good. Most of us got different fish & chips & shrimp. We all enjoyed it. Tartar sauce & cole slaw was good too. Boston commons is so underrated. I love this place!! Our waitress was super cool, I love when conversation comes naturally. Shout out to Emily. I got the Wedge Salad- holy moly this thing is huuuuge. It was so good. I got that and fish and chips. Way too much food for jsut me but I wanted a little bit of everything. Im still thinking about the salad though, it really stood out to me. The fish and chips of course was delicious as always. Also, their "rail" liquors are higher quality than a lot of other places. The rail gin is Ford's gin, which I think it pretty good. Got their best-selling cod and chips. Coleslaw and their two yellow cake desserts! The fish had no taste whatsoever, and my dog wouldn't even take a bite. The slaw was flavorless as well, and the cake was old and dry! It was kept in the fridge for days and tasted like it! The French fries were delicious though. That was the best thing. What a great spot in East Nashville. Know that they are known for Seafood, but if that's what you are up for then head on over. The Fish and Chips are the specialty. There are options: Cod, Haddock or Pollock. I went for the Haddock, British which means breaded in Guiness Beer Batter. Not a thing wrong with anything there! Fish was excellent, well cooked and loved the breading. Fries come in a little brown bag and were a good match. Husband had the Signature which is cod. Also very good. Friends split the Sampler and I must admit the Pub style (Pollock) was really good! Might need to try that next time and yes, there is a return trip soon! read more

We went to Boston Commons for lunch March 4. It was bad. I had their "standard" fish and chips. It was somewhat "fishy" and the crust had a bad flavor. The selections are extremely limited. Questions are not received well. Prices are waaaayyyy too high!!!!! I will not be going back and will deter others from going there. Delicious! We ordered the Maine lobster roll, Cobb salad with poppy seed dressing, and the fish sampler that came with haddock, cod, and pollock. we got it to go and the fish remained crispy and fresh and wasn't overly oily which we appreciated. The lobster was so good, encased in a buttery roll. The salad was fresh and a good balance to the rest of the food. 10/10 recommend checking them out! read more

Pretty good dinner here. The clam chowder was so thick you could eat it with a fork. It tasted great, so no complaints, but don't expect a "soup". The crab cake was pretty good but nothing special. Fried pick 3 plate was tasty, hot, and fresh. We especially enjoyed the clams. Coleslaw was fresh and a good palate cleanser. They try hard to accommodate every persons expectation of fried fish and chips. In so doing maybe a step or two is lost on the English version. The batter does not adhere to the fish very well. Perhaps I might suggest a flour dredge before the batter. Some chippies season their flour, some do not. They were extremely good. No grit and none of the funk you can get with muscles and the sauce. OMG I could drink it right from the bowl. As for the clam chowder, best I have had in Nashville. If you go you have to get the Boston Cream Pie. As for the drinks, try the Southern Mule and the Green Monster. I had one of each. read more

We went here for lunch today. It was very good and better than I expected.The interior is casual and clean. Moderate noise level. The restaurant is divided. The main dining area on one side and the bar area on the other side. They also have a cool patio area outside. It's moderately priced. The Lobster roll was a little pricey, so I skipped it for today.There are plenty of TV's to watch a game on. There are 2 pay to park lots within 1 block of the restaurant. It cost us $9.00 to park for 1 hour and 15 minutes. I got the fish and chips sampler because I wanted to try 3 of the 4 pieces of fish that they offer.They were all great. The fries were cooked well and were tasty. My wife got the New England style fish as it isn't available on the sampler and she got a cup of Clam Chowder for a starter. Our server was Bailey and she was great. The Fish entrees were out to our table in about 20 minutes. Everything was hot and fresh. I can't say enough about the Fish. It's so good. This is a super chill, clean, lots of TVs sports bar with super friendly staff and pretty good food! On Wednesday's they have a friend oyster special I didn't love them too much but the cool looking fries that come in a brown paper bag with it made up for that. They have the most delicious Cajun chicken pasta, completely unexpected for a sports bar but super flavorful, the fish and chips were also pretty good.
