Dined in for lunch on a Saturday and there was plenty of parking and seating for my small group. We loved splitting some snacks (Crispy Potatoes and Truffle Parmesan Potato Chips) and enjoyed their Shared Plates. The space is bright and clean, and the staff were very nice. Would absolutely come back!

Who says you can master beer or food, but only one? Well, actually, I don't think anyone has ever said that-- and they never should because Lauter has done it. We had the fish and fried chicken sandwiches. They were cooked to perfection. Juicy and crunchy in just the right balance. I had two 4oz pours of two specialty brews and they were outstanding. Since I'm not a real man I chose the fruitiest two beers they make and holy crap they were knockouts. (The Blue Razz Melted Snowcone was one). Plus the service was impeccable (fast with the check, a huge bonus) and the joint was super clean.

What a triumph of a food menu. I've been dying to try Southern Grist's new food concept since seeing the pictures on insta and my first visit did not disappoint. Some things to know before you go: - Lauter, the food concept, is currently only at the East Nashville location. - The lot directly connected to the building only has a few spaces, but there is a decent amount of parking located behind the building. - A bit of a hybrid table service model (ie order at the counter inside but food will be brought to you and service staff will clear plates away throughout your meal.) - Plates are ideally designed to be shared! The food: Japanese flair to a unique and fascinating "nicer" dinner menu than you'd expect from your typical brewery. On this visit, we ordered 4 plates to share between two people off their dinner menu and it was the perfect amount (had me just over the edge of too full): the citrus & beet salad with whipped feta, the pork belly bao buns, the fried chicken, and the crispy vinegar potatoes. There aren't many vegetarian-friendly entree-style items, but the citrus & beet salad was absolutely stunning, perfect balance of unique flavors & textures with just a subtle spice from the chili oil. The easy standout of our meal was the fried chicken, which my friend dubbed "the thing she will spend the next 6 months attempting to recreate." It was Japanese karaage style with a light, salty, spice-laden, and crispy texture and ridiculously tender and juicy inside, honey on the side to help balance the whole dish. This is not your Nashville hot chicken; it is so, so, SO much better. (It is also not actually spicy, if you are heat-averse...just has amazing seasoning.) Naturally, we had to give our waiter the 3rd degree to figure out how they made it so perfect, but the easier solution is we will just need to come back repeatedly to enjoy and savor this dish. We also enjoyed the crispy vinegar potatoes (super light and fluffy on the inside, absolutely dunkable sauce to go alongside, too hefty of a portion for two people to share) and the pork baos (perfectly light & fluffy bun, ground pork which surprised me but worked with the dish) Prices felt reasonable to other tapas places I've gone to, with most plates ranging between $8-15 and being decently substantial for sharing between 2-3 people. My one regret is that I didn't have room in my stomach to try more items because their whole menu looks drool-worthy and fascinating (bucatini, you'll be next on my list!) I think what I loved most though is I could have a fancy-tasting meal in such a laid-back and beautiful atmosphere. We chose to sit outside with my friend's dog to enjoy the nice weather, but the whole vibe is moderately upscale with a pretty layout and plants everywhere but also very laid back and lowkey. It was a wonderful & relaxing way to spend an early evening meal and combined with the fantastic service by the several servers we interacted with, we will absolutely be back for more!

One of the first things that strikes you when you enter Lauter is the attention to detail. The lighting, colors and music are well balanced and relaxing. The music that was playing when I was there was vibey Courtney Barnett style pop. It is obvious that the same attention is applied to the food. I got the burger and half order of fries. Both delicious and layered perfectly with salt, sweet and sour flavors which were perfectly balance. And food was fresh and piping hot. What more can you ask? I hope they continue to do well. Though I had some water, the bar menu looked very appetizing as well.

Super cool space inside as well as outdoor patio spaces. Plenty of on-site parking. Beer and cocktail menu was extensive and the quality of Southern Grist beer is the best in the area. Highly recommend starting with the Bao buns and potatoes!! Also really enjoyed the wings and sauce that accompanied them, but 3 wings was a very small portion for the price. Friendly staff and quick service!

Our first night in town we stopped in here for dinner and beers. Never been to Nashville and had no idea what to expect, but this experience set the bar so high and set the tone for our whole week, so much so that we came back for our last night! First off, the ambience and the space are very cool and we were hooked as soon as we were in the door. On our first visit, we shared the sourdough focaccia, the grilled radish salad, the pork shoulder burnt ends and the chicken wings. Honestly, the menu was incredible and it was very difficult to narrow down what we wanted to try! All of the food was pure perfection. Some of the best food either of us has had, full stop. Not what I expected from a brewery restaurant, but I'm not complaining! When we came back, it was again a challenge to decide whether to try all new things or repeat some of our favorites. We settled on splitting the difference and repeated the focaccia and the grilled radish salad (which was, no joke, one of the highlights of the whole trip. A salad? Yes, a salad. I'm as shocked as anyone that I'm saying that.) and rounding out our order with the bao buns, the pelmeni and the fried chicken. Our tips: Make sure to have the fried chicken, the grilled radish salad and the focaccia at the *very least*. Now, on top of a sweet space and killer food, the staff we got to interact with were also amazing. Our first time in, our server was Bedon and that dude was not only friendly and fun, he also provided us with several recommendations for other places to try, most of which we checked out during the week and none of which was less than fantastic. Seriously a million thanks to Bedon! Our second time in (and our last night in town), our server was Benjamin, whose chill and engaging attitude was exactly what we needed to round out our Nashville adventure. Our sincere appreciation to both these gents for making our time at Lauter--and in Nashville--memorable.

Ok. If you don't like the food here, you don't like food. The. Crispy. Potatoes. The burger, the chicken Sammy, the Bao buns, the beer...when they do Ramen. Ever-y-thing is top shelf, every time we come to Lauter. Pity the fool who gives this gem less than 5 golden rings/stars. Lauter. Do it.

Loved this place! It was a bit tough to locate, but soooo worth it. Great vibe to the place, and super nice and sweet staff. We had the chicken sandwich with pimento cheese -- really outstanding; the burger with a side of mushroom gravy; tomato and corn salad; and roasted corn bowl. All were super delicious, especially the chicken sandwich and the burger. The mushroom gravy was not necessary with the burger, but it was so good on its own that we ate it surreptitiously separately. There were so many delicious and complimentary flavors going on with each dish, it was like the visual flavors effect from "Ratatouille." The crazy tasty beer flights we got rounded out things perfectly.

Full on 'wow' experiences every time we go! Lunch and dinner a both great. Japanese flare to many of the dishes. The focaccia with whipped feta, the burger, and the hot chicken are some of our favorites. Don't skip the "The Last Course" dessert. Phenomenal!

We arrived to the patio bar first and had a great experience with the very informative bar tender. She was helpful and made recommendations for us to choose from for dinner. Patio drinks Jack and Coke double tall and Old Fashion. We were welcomed in with a "happy birthday" and seated promptly. Once seated, Katie came to the table with a bubbly and positive attitude (she was fantastic). She took our order quickly and stayed on top of the beverages. Now here is where the experience went from really good to top-notch--apps, dinner, desserts. Starters Caesar salad with spicy breadcrumbs was the best and most fresh tasting Caesar my husband and I have ever tasted... not too much dressing but very flavorful Truffle potatoes with truffle cream sauce and parsley powder came with a punch of savory flavor and a nice crunch wonderfully delicious. Only disappointment was there was not more! Mussels White Wine with freshly toasted local sourdough bread. The mussels were cooked perfectly and made with a perfect blend of citrus and garlic broth. Dinners Roasted Chicken Pesto Risotto was one of the most flavorful items of the night. Risotto cooked perfectly and the combination of ingredients matched perfectly. Pan seared Trout was the best dinner of the night, in my opinion. The corn and blend of dill and burre blanc was a magical pairing with the perfectly cooked Trout. So much flavor Dessert Cremeux olive oil cake was fresh and had a nice citrus flavor paired with chocolate cremeux and raspberries. Very unique but worth the try! Sticky Toffee Pudding So many flavors with this. This one was my favorite, but it was "if held hostage I would choose" situation because everything was so tasty! The server got the kitchen to make me a French Toast Bread Pudding even after the kitchen had stopped serving it for the day (brunch menu). All desserts are amazing! If you go to this hidden gem, prepare to have your tastebuds in overdrive! Wonderful service, amazing food and overall blown away experience! We chose the restaurant to celebrate my daughter's birthday and, as we have done on previous visits, ordered the Chef's Special for our party of three. While we were surprised to see the price had increased by $15 per person since our last visit, we expected the same high-quality dining experience that has always made the restaurant a favorite. Unfortunately, the service and pacing fell well short of those expectations. Dinner lasted more than two hours from start to finish, with excessive waits between nearly every course. What should have been an enjoyable celebratory meal became increasingly frustrating as the evening progressed. Our server appeared attentive and engaged with surrounding tables throughout the night, yet we frequently felt overlooked. There were extended periods where we were unable to get refills or assistance, leaving us feeling forgotten and, quite literally, thirsty. By the end of the evening, we had to request that the "sweet treat" be packaged to go, and the response from our server came across as irritated rather than accommodating. This was our first time being seated on the outdoor patio, but regardless of seating location, the level of service should be consistent throughout the restaurant. In the end, we spent well over $300 and left feeling frustrated, exhausted, and disappointed rather than celebrated. For a restaurant that has built a reputation on exceptional food, hospitality, and attention to detail, this experience missed the mark. Significant price increases are easier to accept when they are accompanied by an equally elevated dining experience. Unfortunately, that was not the case on this visit, and it has left us questioning whether we will return in the future.

The cooks were throwing down in that kitchen! Over a couple of days I tried a few things. SZECHUAN SALAD I got the Szechuan Salad with both kale and spinach. I added tempeh bacon and extra dressing on the side. (It didn't need the extra dressing though.) This salad is SO good! I had to force myself to put the fork down and not overeat. It's a large portion so you can share or save half for another day. (When doing this I recommend getting the dressings on the side to prevent soggy greens.) All of the ingredients tasted super fresh, and that Szechuan tofu was thoroughly marinated. Deliciousness! The tempeh (and at home avocado) that I added wasn't necessary but it sure was tasty. This salad is gluten free. SZECHUAN BRUSSELS I love me some roasted brussels sprouts so it was a must to try theirs. I added jalapeños and Hot Tempeh.
