Whiting plate with macaroni and okra

Ed's fishhouse is delicious! It is worth it! Its not the easiest to obtain with the lines constantly hanging out of the parking lot but that should let you know how worth it, it is. The line runs quicker than you realize and the fish was fresh, crispy, well seasoned and delicious. I will not hestiate to get a fish plate from Ed's anytime!

Let me tell you something about this place here. I can't stay away from it. We drove from Mississippi from one job and came to Nashville for another job and this was my first stop. The fish is always seasoned to perfection. I can't never decide if I want whiting or cat fish so I get both being greedy. There is no ambience because it's just a drive through and it's quick. Tell the lady what you want and then drive up to pay. Thank me later :)

Catfish Sandwich

I've been wanting to go here for a while. Always past by because of the long lines. I'm currently 26 at the time of this review and I remember being about 5 and my mom would always have some catfish and spaghetti from Nashville. She worked in Nashville and would come here for lunch or after work. I didn't know the name of the restaurant but it wasn't that difficult to find. The sandwich tastes exactly how I remember. Didn't care too much for the spaghetti, the taste was different. Very pricey for a little cup, $4?

Best fish sammich in the world always hot fresh and delicious. The owner use to hang with my mom while attending Tennessee State in 70s. So I've been coming here for yrs. It's a staple in our household. I tell my buddies to get the spaghetti on side with your sammich and don't forget some Cole slaw can't go wrong

The famous Ed's

Love swinging by Ed's to get my Friday Fish sandwich. Can't go wrong on a Friday afternoon!

Notoya S.

The one star is not for the food but the fact that it's listed as open on a Monday when in fact they are/were closed and the fact that I found out after leaving my hotel and traveling to the location; I called several times and received no answer & checked various other food apps. Very annoying because I then had to figure out a back up option in an area that has nothing else to do... I walked up Buchanan street and waited another 30mins for another location to open up . Again, there is nothing else to do in the area so am very angry about wasting my time. In regards to finding the location, I am unsure of how people missed it when it's literally on the corner and the only location there, across from a Machanic shop.

First visit in years. Service was excellent and so was the fish! We will be back. Disappointing that they ran out of dessert.

The fish sandwich is great! When you see that the line is long in the drive thru then it's a good sign.

We tried parking on the first level of The Finery garage and got stuck trying to turn around as it was full from being advertised as event parking. Found another lot that was charging $40 minimum. Called the restaurant to give them a heads up we were running a few mins late and confirm parking options and was told they validated 2 hours at The Finery. We decided to give it another shot and found a separate entrance for ground level parking that had availability. Win! We made it in time for happy hour oysters and they were delicious! Also tried the coconut shrimp (favorite item), green curry mussels (fantastic flavor, but the Thai curry broth was cold) and the clam chowder. We were celebrating a birthday and asked if they offered anything for dessert and had their basque cheesecake. Not too sweet. The parking validation came on the check. When it was time to drive out of the parking garage, the validation didn't work. We tried using the help button and then a separate attendant came over to assist. We ended up going back to the restaurant for a new code and it still didn't work. Luckily $7 for 2 hours of parking was much more reasonable than anywhere else we've tried parking in that area! I'd say stick to the Germantown location. For some reason, it's the only one that shows up on Apple Maps anyways. Also side tip: they give a discount for a same day ticket from The Truth

Being an optimist is definitely the mindset you need to go in with to enjoy a meal here…read more We made an 8:30 reservation and arrived about five minutes early, then proceeded to wait nearly 20 minutes before being seated, along with four other parties. When we were finally seated outside, I was confused as to what had caused the delay, considering three hosts were having a conversation behind the host stand and there appeared to be at least seven open tables available. Once seated, we ordered appetizers and drinks. The food itself was excellent--everything tasted very fresh, and the presentation was great. Unfortunately, one of our drinks was made incorrectly. My wife ordered the "Brigantine," which should have been made with rum, coconut, banana, and bitters. What we received instead appeared to be an Old Fashioned or something similar. When I informed our waiter that the drink didn't seem to have been made correctly, he told us he would take it off the bill. However, when we received the check, the drink was still included. Overall, 3 stars because the food was excellent, fresh, and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, the level of service didn't match the quality of the food. Customer service, organization, and follow-through could use some attention--especially at a restaurant in this price range.

No reservation? Don't worry, you may be able to grab a seat at the beautiful bar when you walk in. The atmosphere is fantastic. There's great music playing softly in the background, and as you look around, you realize you're dining inside a beautifully renovated old warehouse. Here's a little inside history: the building was once used to make handles for old hammers and axes. Look closely at some of the beams and you can actually see the hammer marks! Okay, enough history, let's talk drinks! I started with an Old Fashioned made with Sazerac Rye Bourbon. It was very good and served with clear ice, which is always a good sign. My only complaint? They used a red cherry instead of a Maraschino cherry. They definitely need to step up their Old Fashioned game! They also made a great Dirty Martini, or as I like to call it, a "Dirty & Skanky Martini." Now for the food! We started with the Spanish Octopus, which was absolutely delicious. The Bluefin Belly was very good, and the Corn-Milk Hush Puppies were SOOOO good! We also tried the Summer Squash, which was another great addition to the meal. For my entrees, I went with the Wild Striped Bass, WOW! Amazing flavor, and check out the Jonah Crab on top! I also tried the Grilled Swordfish with Brisket Marmalade, and that was another winner. The combination of flavors was fantastic! And I have to give a big shout-out to the service. Everyone was amazing, attentive, knowledgeable, and clearly knew the menu inside and out. If you're visiting Nashville, or you live here, put this place on your list! Great atmosphere, creative seafood dishes, excellent service, and some really memorable food. I'll definitely be back!

We came here for late dinner, 8.30 and this place was not packed which is very surprising, bc they play music jazz music, and you can have a lovely dinner and still hear ppl talk. But the best thing is their pork chop !!! This is a must get. Thank me later. We got the pork chop medium well bc we like our pork more cooked bc ain't no one trying to get salmonella from undercooked pork. But it was sooo good, has a nice char on the outside, and perfectly seasoned. Additionally, it sits on top of a bed of allegedly "rice" according to our server. But to me, it reminded me of a tendon brisket texture. I would've bet money on it too. But delicious with sweet peach sauce that came with it. For the prime rib, it was a huge cut of meat, but it was lacking flavor, needed some more salt and some rosemary to bring out the meat. Both main dishes can serve 2 people each, so worth the price and food. Definitely come back! And a shout out to our server Cole, who was great

We walked in toward the end of the evening, not realizing the restaurant was getting ready to…read moreclose. There were still a couple of people at the bar and a few tables with guests finishing their meals, so nothing immediately indicated that we were arriving near closing time. The hostess was very friendly and seated our party of four right away, but she never mentioned that the restaurant would be closing soon. Had we known, we would have gladly chosen somewhere else to eat rather than risk feeling rushed or unwelcome. The ambiance was nice, and we each ordered a cocktail. Unfortunately, our experience with the service was disappointing from the start. Our server seemed visibly annoyed with us and had an attitude that made us feel as though we were an inconvenience. I understand that being seated with a table near the end of a shift can be frustrating. I've worked in the service industry myself, and I know what it's like to be sat late in the evening. However, that comes with the job, and I would have much rather been told upfront that the restaurant was closing soon so we could have made other arrangements. We were visiting from Nashville to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were looking forward to a nice dinner to kick off our trip. Unfortunately, the food was a mixed experience. I ordered the turtle soup and prime rib, requesting the prime rib medium rare. It arrived medium, if not slightly more well done. While the flavor was good, it was not cooked to the doneness I had requested. The turtle soup was also excessively salty, and everyone at our table agreed. My wife ordered the beef en croute, which was cold in the center, although the pastry on top was cooked nicely. Our friends ordered the lamb and halibut, and both dishes were prepared well and enjoyed. For a restaurant where we spent over $400 on dinner, I expected a much higher level of food quality and service. Mistakes can happen, and I understand that no restaurant is perfect. However, the combination of the unwelcoming service and the issues with several dishes made for a disappointing evening. What made the experience especially frustrating was that this was supposed to be a special dinner to celebrate our anniversary and start our trip on a high note. Instead, we left feeling disappointed and as though our business was an inconvenience. If the restaurant was closing soon, a simple heads-up when we arrived would have gone a long way. We would have understood and happily taken our business elsewhere. The following evening, we dined at Sinatra's and had a fantastic experience, which made the contrast even more noticeable. Overall, the ambiance was pleasant, and some of the food was good, but the service and inconsistency in the dishes fell well short of what I would expect from a restaurant at this price point. When spending over $400 on a dinner for a special occasion, you expect to feel welcomed, enjoy a well-prepared meal, and leave with a positive impression. Unfortunately, that was not our experience, and this restaurant was a disappointing way to begin our anniversary trip.

For my entrée, I went with the American Wagyu NY strip, and it was cooked to perfection. I normally don't put anything on a good steak, but they brought out a gravy with it that was way too good to pass up. All in all, an amazing experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is cool, esp. if you are a fan of Kid Rock. There is a campy "take a picture with Kid" at the front, which is a bit off for a steakhouse, but I dig the vibe. Hostess checked with the server and we were promptly seated. The restaurant was pretty dead for a Thursday. There were people in booths right along the glass, nobody at the bar, and everyone seated together at the end of the row of booths. The place is all hard walls, like so many Nashville restaurants, so it was extremely noisy. The waiter was either unhappy to be there, unhappy to serve us, or completely off his game. This was evidenced by a meal that took over 2 hours and watching people with other servers come and go. We ordered the All Summer long 3 course dinner (cauliflower Caesar salad, 6 oz filet - I upgraded to ribeye, which was a mistake? - and Warm chocolate chip tartlet for dessert). The drinks were fine. The white lotus she had was excellent. Sour and tart with a good amount of St. Germaine and raspberry vodka. The Old Fashioned is a mix of Old Forrester Signature and Buffalo Trace, so had the bite but also a smooth side. No issue with either. The bread service is a nice touch. They start you out with a herb bread and butter and white beans as a palette clenser. We ordered the bone marrow as an appetizer. Bone marrow was good, but the bread was so salty it felt like a salt lick. The Caesar salad was also good. The croutons are crushed, so the texture is different from many I have had and it took a bit of getting used to. Nice lemon. We are now over an hour in, with long periods of sitting and the steaks come out. Both overdone. Mine was shoe leather and hers was medium to medium well. The waiter takes things back to the kitchen. About 15 minutes later the assistant manager comes out. He goes back and brings out two more steaks. Mine was still a bit overdone, but at least not leather. Hers was done correctly. We ended up boxing things up and the overcooked ribeye got mixed with eggs the next morning for breakfast. The dessert is a lot like a cookie with a hole for the cream to go in. We were told they are changing meat purveyors, which may help with overcooking the ribeye.

The atmosphere feels like an upscale neighborhood spot without being too fancy. Inside, there's great mood lighting, cool decor, and an overall great vibe. The noise level was perfect for having a conversation, which is always a plus for date night! My biggest complaint was how long it took for our drinks to come out, both times. I only ordered a glass of wine and Jonathan got a mixed drink, so I would have understood if it were really busy, but it wasn't. Thankfully, the food more than made up for it! The fall menu has all the cozy vibes, with hearty, comforting dishes. The hamachi on a thin potato chip was a standout, as was the bacon-wrapped quail with its delicious sauce. The dressing and the candied pumpkin seeds on the autumn salad were so fresh and honestly to die for. I'd eat that salad every day! Jonathan ordered the beef duo and said the meat was cooked very well, although there was a little too much sauce for his liking. He felt like it took center stage rather than letting the meat shine, but the sauce was delicious, so it's hard to complain! I got the short rib roast, and the meat was incredibly tender. The vegetables in the stew were also a nice touch. All dishes come with the fluffiest mashed potatoes that we ended up dipping in our sauces for the yummiest bite! Overall, we had a great experience, and the food definitely made us want to come back. We'd love to return and try more of the menu!
