Uncle Bud's is a very old but well respected restaurant so the atmosphere and decorations are a little outdated. But the food and service was beyond great! I had the all you can eat catfish with endless hush puppies, pickles, onion, and white beans. Super delicious and super value for your money. Our server was attentive and courteous with a very warm smile. Lunch was about $50 with a 25% tip added. It was the most delicious and best prepared catfish I've had in ages. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! UNCLE BUD'S completely messed up my meals. I ordered a 4 piece tender meal. gave me a chicken plate consisting of a breast and leg. Idiots. I also ordered a mixed chicken meal. They gave me two legs and a thigh. What the hell is this! I hope these people go out of business. They don't deserve to be open cheating customers out their money. It's too far to drive back. I'm done with this restaurant. This restaurant is a complete disaster! Management never even contacted me back. Save yourself time and dine at a place that appre your busines. Uncle Bud's does not. At times they even run out of certain foods. *Forgot to mention this was a curbside pickup. NO ONE CAME OUT! *update 9/26 The restaurant manager contacted me. I was supposed to be refunded for the last meal. She was kind enough to offer another free meal on the house. I placed my order and was still charged for it. The food was picked up curbside on 9/19. The manager advised she would refund both meals. It's 9/26 and still no refund. Most restaurants refund immediately and it's over. This establishment can't even handle a refund. That's a damn shame. read more

My C found this one on ye ol' Yelp app... It looked promising. The whole family style dining is a cool. I generally dig anything people just bring me to eat without me asking so this seemed like the place to be! Walked in and was offered a table in a wooden shed like room. No thanks. Waited on something in dining room to get cleaned as they were all dirty or sat. Same young lady that sat us, waited on us. Her name was Mackenzie. She was very sweet, a little scattered, but took care of us well. She forgot we had not ordered and was avoiding my summons because she thought I wanted my food, LOL. She reminded me of my cousins kid when she was younger except a lot nicer than my cousins kid. We were torn on what to get so we got the Sampler Platter (that might not be the name). It sounded like a winner. C like clam strips for some reason, I liked the other stuff. Mac let us know she would be charging us for one set of sides since we only ordered one meal. Cool. No worries. I ain't trying to get one over on Unc, dang.... ;) I dug the stuff that came out first much more than I liked the combo plate. White beans and hush puppies are my freaking jam! C likes the slaw and pickles, so it was a hit right off the bat. The catfish was gross. One bite and done. The clam strips were clam strips, the alligator was pretty good, but some pieces were so small it was mostly breading. I don't remember the shrimp at all. I am not even sure we had any. Wait.... It wasn't shrimp, it was frog legs, and they were gosh damn delicious! Pardon me for messing that up! Was it supposed to have shrimp? Idk, I was pretty high. It also came with potato wedges, I am a sucker for those delicious coated potatoes. Back to the frog legs though, we bartered over who got more. Good stuff! I am really glad I didn't fall for the AYCE catfish. That would have been disappointing. I will see if I can get by here again sometime. Future Adam safe and recommended!! However, I do not recommend the catfish! '25 - 86/111 read more

Referred here by a friend, and we loved it. Service was great. The place is very relaxed, like having a riverside picnic. First, I am always on the lookout for good fried chicken. It's good here. Second, my daughter is a fried catfish lover, this place gets her seal of approval. Finally, nothing says home to me like a player of chicken livers. Reminds me of my grandma. They do em right here. Every table gets 2 sides. Cole slaw (I'm not a cole slaw fan, but I had two servings) white beans (oh my goodness, delicious) and hush puppies. The hush puppies were good, but slightly leaning towards the dry side. OH, I FORGOT! The biscuits!!!!! Just like my grandma made. We ate too much to try dessert, but the peach cobbler sounded great, so we will be back. read more

Uncle Bud's Restaurant does not disappoint! The outside facade and interior were as expected. What was unexpected was the quality of not just the food, but the staff as well. I ordered the 2 pc fish and 2 pc fried chicken. The fixin's of 3 crispy fried hush puppies, 2 dill pickle spears, sliced onion, a bowl of creamy cole slaw and a bowl of extremely tender white beans arrived very quickly. Before we even had a chance to sample each fixin', our main entree arrived. My platter arrived with wedge cut crispy french fries, 2 medium size catfish fillets and a large chicken breast and wing with a fluffy biscuit and a wedge of lemon resting on top of everything. The fish had the perfect light crispy batter that paired well with their extremely thick tartar sauce. Delicious. The chicken also had a light batter that hid the perfectly cooked chicken that was still juicy and surprisingly tender. Our waitress, Stephanie was great and was constantly checking to see how we were doing. She offered us a free side of mashed potatoes and mac and cheese (this week only to see how the customers liked them). Both were also very good. Overall, a great find and one worthy of a return visit. read more

Personally, Uncle Buds a childhood gem. Although many locations have closed this Donelson location is still going full steam ahead. My mom and I spent the lunch hour over a much needed catch up and all you can eat fixings. Hot beans, crunchy hush puppies, fresh coleslaw, crispy fries and pickles to our hearts desire. Our waitress Quin was the best and we had a great experience. read more

While in the area on a golfing trip we found this great place to eat. Show casing fish, chicken and sides it was a must try!!! Our server started out by bringing our sides of cold slaw, hush puppies, white beans, and onions/cucumbers in a vinegar base. The sides alone were a meal unto themselves!!! Got our drink order and passed out menus. We enjoyed the sides while perusing the menu. We ordered fried fish and fried chicken. Great meal by all. Not wanting to pass up the dessert we split the banana pudding four ways and went back for another 18 holes od gold full and happy. read more

Uncle Bud's - Great southern food and hospitality. A must to try snd return. - Seafood Near Me - Nashville, Tennessee

I visited this restaurant while in Nashville on vacation after it was recommended by several locals. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. As soon as I arrived, I noticed the building looked outdated. Inside, lighting through the large windows was definitely required, the furniture was worn, booth seats outdated, and tables small like in middle school. The floor entrance was sticky. The restroom was in need of attention. The restaurant serves mainly catfish and chicken, but several of the dishes tasted as though they had been reheated rather than freshly prepared. The chicken was dry and cold (like it's been sitting under a heat lamp for several hours). The cat fish was tasteless. None of the fried food was served hot "off the fryer". Overall, the food did not meet my expectations. Grossly overpriced for the food served. Based on my experience, I wasn't impressed and don't plan to return. read more

Wow .....I have to Yelp this again. Well because it's been a few changes. Adrian you are the BEST SERVER that I seen in a while. Good service is like fishing. Sometimes you catch a good fish and the ones that aren't any good you may throw them back! Food here is always delicious and flavorful. I met the manager today and she is nice as can be. And as crowded as it is, she has time to speak to all her customers. We had a fat catfish platter and a chicken platter. Sundays, you can have all the chicken you want to eat 15 bucks you can have catfish all you can eat every day for $24.99 (whole catfish) or Fillets $22.95. Oh yeah, white beans, coleslaw, pickles, hush puppies, and onions are all you can eat. I love this place. Ambiance is great for families. The only complaint I have is how much weight I have gained from eating this good food, read more

We visited tonight for dinner. When we arrived the a woman in a New York Yankees ball cap was at the host stand. It was busy so we asked how long the wait would be. She said about 25 minutes just before complaining she wasn't able to clean tables then saying it might be less than 25 minutes. It was less than 25 minutes by an astonishing 2 minutes. While waiting we watched a visual example of mass confusion in 4K High Definition. When we were finally called, the hostess seated us and then said she would bring plates. This didn't happen so we had to ask someone else. By the time we got plates delivered, our beans and hush puppies (their version of salad and breadsticks) were room temperature. Our server was so soft spoken, you'd think he had Charmin 3 ply for vocal cords. Yet he tried hard and made every effort to make sure we were happy. A nice kid and an entertaining addition to the aforementioned confusion. It wasn't a bad visit but it could have been better. read more

My husband and I--two Michiganders spending a weekend in Nashville--knew we had to stop at Uncle Bud's. He grew up visiting his grandparents down South, where catfish and hush puppies were a staple, so this spot felt like a natural choice. Everything was served family‑style, hot, and generously portioned. The catfish was perfectly crisp, the hush puppies were spot‑on, and the service was pleasantly warm throughout our meal. And be warned: their famous sweet teas are huge. Delicious, but definitely something to pace yourself with. Uncle Bud's delivered exactly the Southern comfort we were hoping for. read more

It was my 1st time here but definitely will be my Last! The second we got seated, a few plates of pickles, cabbage slaw etc they called "Fixings" were placed on the table and we were told it's unlimited (concept similar to Olive Garden's bread sticks or Korean banchan) although cool I wasn't interested in eating it. The type of food served here is not my usual cup of tea (Catfish is not Kosher) and likewise my child wasn't interested in it either. We decided to share an entree. The server said she'd have to charge my child and I, a $9.95 fee each for sharing the Fixings (that I didn't want) and The Mgr explained that was the policy of the owners and there was nothing she could do about it. Well, I will never be back. read more

AYCE Catfish! We got both whole catfish and filets. My preference is the whole fish though both were excellent. The whole fish gives you that buttery fat against the bone that is heavenly. Also, having a little less batter in each bite gives you a "cleaner" flavor. You just have to get good and scraping the meat away from the bone. I will be back soon to take on 5-6 whole fish! The fixins are great as well and also AYCE! read more

I live in Washington state and travel a lot. Where I live we don't have fried catfish so on my work trip I got my fix! This place has an awesome throwback style feel on the outside, and is even more homey on the inside. There was a decent crowd (it was all-you-can-eat) day but since I was alone I was seated quickly. They immediately bring a heaping bowl of beans and white beans, which are accompanied by delicious hush puppies. The fried catfish was seasoned, crispy, and flavorful. Highly recommend! If you know you know. If you don't, get your ass to Uncle Bud's and eat! read more

Sides were plentiful, but hush puppies were not warm and a bit dry. Gumbo was more of a soup consistency, but very tasty, could have used a more protein, but for the price it was solid. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. Ambiance was awesome. High value, just was expecting more from the gumbo. read more

This place was amazing. We were visiting from Upstate SC and had been in Nashville for 4 days and ate lots of different places. This was by far the best food of any place we ate the entire trip. The setting was a rustic country vibe with a focus on family meals. The service was great everyone worked together to meet all your dinning needs. The manager visited each table, introduced her self and made herself available for any additional needs. Don't miss this hidden gym. read more

The food and customer service was fantastic. The best we have had in a long time. The food was hot and fresh. Good food for a fair price! Chicken and fish with all the sides you can eat. Service is always great with a down home atmosphere.

Ordered the fried chicken and catfish combo. The catfish was small and over-cooked turning it into catfish jerky. The fried chicken was undercooked making it inedible. About the unlimited sides, French fries tasted like they were reheated from several days ago, the beans were very good, the hush puppies were very bland containing no onion, bits of corn, and very dry. Cute place with average service. I honestly don't know how they got anything higher than two stars. Why bother sending anything back to the kitchen when you will probably just get more of the same. We paid the bill and tipped nicely then left never to return. read more

Catfish was tasty, but not served hot. Biggest reason for the low rating is the lack of value. Way overpriced for the product served. E.g.: 3 small filets, 4 or 5 thin and very overcooked fries, and the AYCE "fixins" for $20.50. Iced tea was another $3+. Add tax and the expected 20% tip and the bill is $32+ for one diner. Had I know the fish portions were so scrawny, I would have opted for their AYCE, a much better value. read more

We took a weekend trip to Nashville from DC. Uncle Buds was recommended to us by Mrs Sylvia at the Club Hotel on Atrium Way. Uncle Buds is like a picnic style laid back place. They sit you down and immediately bring out white beans, onions (which I thought was weird), hush puppies, coleslaw and pickles. We had the catfish and I ordered a piece of chicken. The fish could've had a tad bit more seasoning but it was still good. I topped my catfish with onions (not so weird after all lol) , hot sauce and tartar sauce it was good! I wanted a chicken thigh, they told me it would be a few minutes as none were already cooked. I agreed, but they still brought me out a chicken breast instead saying they didn't have any more thighs. For drinks we had the iced tea which was good as well it was HUGE. I forgot the waitress name but she was really nice and Molly (I think the manager) came around and made sure all was ok. I would recommend this place. read more

Awesome! Great Good and nice environment. New favorite place in Donelson. Catfish is amazing.

Fun atmosphere , and great Catfish The fixings made this one of the best meals I have had in a while Service was perfect . Love it !

Lovely experience. I dined with my older father so we arrived before the dinner rush. I remember going here when I was a child years ago. We didn't even know there was an open location nowadays. This type of food is getting harder and harder to find in the Nashville area. Slaw, beans, pickles and hush puppies are served with every meal. Most diners choose between a large portion of catfish or chicken but the menu holds other offerings not found elsewhere, like gator tail. There's a large private parking lot. Old school flair decor makes me feel nostalgic. Our waiter was polite and accommodating. read more
