I owe it to my readers to always be honest. Unfortunately, this warning will be lost in a sea of accolades and missed by many. With a 4.77 aggregate rating across all user-driven platforms and nearly 1,700 reviews to date, Krustaceans is much better on paper than it is in reality, a very overrated restaurant! As the highest-rated seafood joint on the entirety of Highway 70 across the America, it simply did not live up to the hype as I passed through Nashville. Perhaps I should have ordered crab or shrimp or some other boiled seafood which seems to be more of their specialty. But the fish and chips caught my attention. Beware, these aren't the fish and chips you'll find in the UK or the Northeastern United States. Instead of a crisp, beer-battered exterior, this is more like a catfish breading. And it's not bad, but it's just very different than the name would imply. The batter is probably too salty, but the fish is very fresh! The Cajun fries are horribly mediocre. They're definitely just frozen fries from a local supermarket with an uninspiring spice mix. The employees didn't seem very welcoming either, which was kind of sad since I was excited to be there. It's not a bad meal at all, but the ratings are way higher than they should be! If you're haphazardly shelling out five-star reviews, you've probably never had real seafood on the coast and have only inflated the truth for online viewers. Don't expect too much out of Krustaceans, hope for a decent meal, and you won't be disappointed. read more

I ordered the following: * Krab platter with Cajun, Old Bay, and lemon pepper seasoned butter. Includes 2 crab clusters, potatoes, 1 corn, 1 sausage, and 1 egg: $39.99 * Krab and shrimp platter (same seasoning)- includes everything in the krab platter plus 10-12 shrimp: $49.99 * Extra crab cluster: $16.99 * Two piña coladas: $18.50 each The good: The seasoning with the butter was very flavorful and enjoyable. The platters come with plenty of potatoes, so you'll definitely leave full. The servings come out in a styrofoam container lined with aluminum foil so you can easily take leftovers home. The piña coladas were very large and surprisingly good for being machine-made. The service really stood out -- we were offered help when ordering and were checked on throughout the meal to make sure we had everything we needed. Overall, I enjoyed my food and the experience. Some areas that could use a little improvement: 1. The krab legs were slightly overcooked, which made them a bit dry and harder to get the meat out. 2. There is an additional $1 charge per extra seasoning, which wasn't mentioned when we ordered. A quick heads-up about this would help avoid any surprise charges. 3. I didn't see the price of the piña coladas listed on the overhead menu, so including drink prices more clearly would be helpful. Overall: The flavors were there, and we had a good experience. Just keep in mind that the total can add up quickly-- our bill came to $162 before tip. read more

The lady who met us for our order was helpful and friendly. I went with fish and chips with regular fries. The fish was crispy, hot and tasty. The fries were good also. My wife got the fish and shrimp lunch and she is quite picky about how her shrimp was cooked and was very pleased with what she was served. The atmosphere was ok, not your fancy restaurant vibe but I'm ok with that. read more

Service- 5/5 Friendly and welcoming As a tourist from California, I've noticed service is a bit different here but not in a positive or negative way just a different vibe Ambiance- 4/5 Super casual Can eat there or get it to go Love that they offer plastic gloves and plenty of paper towels Wish they had bibs! Food- 5/5 Portions and quality are pretty good for the price I got sides of crab cluster, boiled shrimp and corn with the original sauce. Note- delicious and flavorful but 5x too much sauce/butter for me personally but I think it'd just because I don't eat seafood that style much Loved that they gave both the normal cracker and a little scissor! Wish they served wine by the glass (but I was so messy idk how I'd touch the glass haha) Overall- I highly recommend! Great casual dining spot for seafood lovers. this was actually a order that I placed on DoorDash for pick up and for less than $20. I got two crab claws, potatoes, soaked in the buttery lemon pepper sauce a sausage link corn, and an egg when I say this is one of the best $20 I've ever spent. I got the bang for my buck I was in and out with quick service. I really didn't have to talk to anybody and I was back to work within my allotted hour no complaints. Stopped by Krustaceans Seafood and tried the fried fish and shrimp plate--wow, I was not expecting that much food! The portions were generous, piled high with crispy golden fish and perfectly seasoned shrimp. Everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. What stood out just as much as the food was the service. The owner came by to check on me and was so kind and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed. You can tell they really care about their customers and the experience they create. If you're hungry and craving seafood that hits the spot, this is the place. The food here was very tasty and flavorful. I ordered both the Krab platter with lemon pepper sauce and the shrimp platter with garlic parmesan sauce. Both were delicious, but the lemon pepper sauce really stood out with the perfect balance of zest and buttery flavor that made the krab legs shine. The service was excellent with our server checking on us multiple times throughout the meal, making sure everything was going well. The restaurant itself is clean and well maintained, with a casual and welcoming atmosphere. My only complaint would be the amount of potatoes they include with their boils. Even considering that I ordered the lunch special, the ratio of potatoes to seafood was definitely off. It felt like I got more carbs than protein. I've been to plenty of seafood boil spots, and this one by far had the most potatoes in the mix. Might as well call it a potato boil. read more

I saw Krustaceans on Tiktok and I had to go. The food and drink were awesome! In fact, I ate there two days in a row. The staff were attentive and helpful. The dining area was clean and well stocked with everything you needed to compliment your meal. I had the Hurricane, Bayside Platter, Red Velvet Waffle and the Fried Fish & Chips with seasoned fries. Not in a million years would I have expected to find a seafood boil this good at the end of a nondescript strip mall....in Nashville. Florida? Sure, I'll give you that one. NoLo? Of course. Suburban Nashville? Come on. We just flew into BNA and were hungry and tired. Really, really tired. Lent had started this week meaning no meat on Friday and besides, it was 5PM on a Friday - heading south on 65 was going to be a nightmare. I opened Yelp, chose a seafood restaurant near the airport with a high rating and a lower price point and finally landed at Krustaceans. Krustaceans was I little harder to find than it should have been. It's at the very far end of the Publix shopping center, tucked next to Rock and Roll Sushi. Since I'm directionally challenged just know that it's way to the left and almost around the corner when you look from the street. We walked in at dinnertime to find a line at the counter about 5 deep. That was good - it gave us time to look around and to see what other people were eating. The place is small and busy but they were able to accommodate everyone. The menu is hung above the register- fish and chips, shrimp and chips, fish shrimp and and so on. THEN you get to the platters. The 10 piece shrimp platter is about $25. And it goes up up up from there. I'm just going to jump to our platter. I ordered the krab, shrimp and lobster platter. I choose old bay as my butter. I paid ($62) and sat down at a little table in the corner. (If you're a large party - bigger than 6 people, don't even consider eating in). In under 10 minutes we were served a large styrofoam to-go box the was overflowing with a large crab cluster, bunches of peeled and deveined shrimp, boiled potatoes, half piece of corn on the cob, a hard boiled egg (??), a large sausage link AND a smallish lobster tail all sitting in basically a big bowl of butter. The platter was meant for one person, but we split it and probably couldn't have gone much larger. We finished, scrubbed the grease from our hands and drove the 100 miles back to sweet home Alabama. Do give Krustaceans a try - it was delicious. If placed side by side with the same thing on the beach in Panama City, of course PC will be the winner. But, in the middle of Nashville, not far from the airport, 450 miles away from the nearest ocean breeze and on a late winter night, Krustaceans hit it out of the ballpark. In six days, we got in some grandbaby time, did some touristy stuff, finished celebrating our family Christmas, celebrated my birthday, evacuated our hotel because of a wildfire, spent most of the trip trying to unravel the damage a scammer caused for my 85 year old dad and caught a virus that I'm still fighting two weeks later. But just getting to rock and sing our granddaughters to sleep was worth every little bit of it. read more

I loved this spot small and cutesy has tables plus booths. Enjoyed the smooth R&B playing in the background. The cashier was very pleasant I ordered my food then when to the condiments table for what I needed loved the big variety of hot sauces, tartar sauce, ketchup etc whatever you need. Oh em eff GEE. SO GOOD. A'ight, so, I was in the mood for seafood while visiting in Nashville. Searched the Google map, poked a few places, none seemed quite to hit just right. Then I saw a pic of this place's menu... and saw it had WAFFLES?! I'm sure you've had chicken and waffles. Who hasn't? But shrimp and waffles? Lobster and waffles? Hold up. Whoever thought of this combination is a culinary genius. So yeah, I got the shrimp and red velvet waffle. Fam. FAM. We're talking the perfect match of spicy and sweet. I'd take a bite of fried shrimp, dipped in sauce and go "Mmm this is the best part!" Then I'd take a piece of the waffle, drizzled with cream cheese sauce and go "Hell nah, THIS is the best part!" Over and over alternating between the two. The whole dang thing was the best part. The shrimp were cooked to perfection, each one tender and flavorful. The deal was for eight shrimp, but yooo they jammed thirteen of the suckers into the to-go box (I know cuz I counted the tails!). And the waffle... oh Lordy YES, the fluffiest damn red velvet waffle you can imagine, moist and sweet, and massive! It also came with chopped pecans to sprinkle on top. All of it was HOT and delicious. I so thoroughly enjoyed it. Next time I'm back in Nashville, you can bet your ass I'll be back for that lobster and waffle!! Employee who took our order was friendly enough and helpful. Bathrooms were clean. Lots of available seating, including a bar set-up for getting frozen margaritas and other fun bevies. The food was 20 out of 10, the service even better. Antoine was friendly and helpful. I was going to get the garlic until he said he was from Alabama, then I knew I was good to go on true Cajun taste! I wish I could take this restaurant home with me! NEW MURFREESBORO LOCATION I've experienced the Nash location and now Murfreesboro. Same experience... EXCELLENT. Good quick service, friendly customer service, clean and engaging environment topped off by very hot and tasteful food. Lunch was excellent. This business was needed in Murfreesboro. Fan friggin tastic. Big ol portions. Fish is fried southern style but the batter on it is so evenly coated and light that if I hold it just a lil tight for the fish falls apart level juicy. Texas Pete's hot sauce is the one. I'll be back for crab next time read more

Krustaceans Seafood - Nashville, TN is a MUST-STOP for the best southern seafood ever!! The entree was of course the highlight but they also have delicious cocktails, to mention a couple are the Hurricane and the Pina Colada! There are so many factors to mention...food/drinks/service/cleanliness and then there's Ms Chaka-yes like (Chaka Khan) she was the best host, she made us feel right at home! This is was delicious. The meal I have gotten here was on the money. Didn't care too much for the fries but the fish and shrimps were bussin'. The service was very welcoming, love the young woman that took care of us. My first time coming here and i heard about this place from tik tok so i wanted to try it out. The food was okay, the seasoning i thought would've been spicier from what im used to. We had a Cajun mix platter and the portion size is fine to share but i think they should add more sausage, corn and eggs.. its was plenty and i mean plenty of potatoes.. they were delicious though. It was interesting because another customer asked, if our platter was spicy as well. Service was self we had our food brought to us but you literally get what you need from the counter. The place is set up cute of course but the seat space can be limited if it's a busy crowd for sure. read more

Very rude customer service black woman at the front. I'm black myself, so not sure she is just rude to black people or what, but she is as toxic as they come. This is the 2nd time she has been rude. Her attitude is downright disgusting. She has been a problem for this establishment for years. I will not be going here again. Also, the food is not nearly as good as it was last year and it's expensive. A lot of the 5 star reviews you see are fake. Save your time read more

The food is soooo good. We got the lighthouse platter with Cajun, lemon pepper, and old bay seasoning and fried fish and shrimp. Everything was so flavorful and fresh. It's located in a plaza so the place isn't all that big but its really nice inside. The staff is really nice and friendly , you order and pay at the counter and they will bring your food out to you when it's ready. The wait wasn't long at all. Once we got our drinks and condiments our food was ready. This place is really good. I would definitely recommend. We will definitely be back!! read more

The fried shrimp & fish combo is delicious! There are 2 options available; one has 6 shrimp and 2 filets and the other has 3 filets and 8 shrimp. Both come w fries. Note on the fries...they have sugar on them. If you don't want sugary fries don't get them seasoned! My friends had the shrimp po-boys and loved them. The bread is soft so it's easy to eat. I will be back w my hubby for sure. Oh, they informed us they are opening a shop in Murfreesboro soon! read more

The Cajun Crawfish Rolls came out first (I guess one order is given two rolls) and we demolished it. The toasted bun had a nice char, but was fluffy on the inside and the cajun sauce gave the crawfish nice flavor. We devoured this and were really impressed with the item. Next the Seafood Mac and Cheese came our as well as the shrimp and grits. The Mac and Cheese had such a great blend of cheeses and the noodles were cooked al dente. The grits on the shrimp and grits were scrumptious - not mushy at all and the shrimp was cooked through. Everything tasted very comforting and the prices are very reasonable! Overall, this was definitely a highlight meal of my Southern States travels and the next time I'm back in Nashville I hope to try the gumbo and lobster roll!
