Spicy tuna, shrimply irresistible, spicy salmon, californication
    Mandy H.

Love their happy hour half off sushi! Sushi is decent for their deal. Service was speedy. The ambiance was nice and cozy. They do have limited seating, and their place is slightly tucked away. We loved the spicy salmon and shrimply irresistible rolls. 8.2/10

This spot truly lives up to the hype of best happy hour! You can't beat their happy hour prices, and you still receive the same fresh, flavorful sushi. I've been a couple of times for happy hour now. The service is always great, and it's the perfect time to slow down and enjoy a delicious meal.

The burger without any of the promised ingredients

This evening so romanticized in our expectations soon turned into utter dismay. If you wish to be treated like a second class citizen for burger week I highly recommend coming to this establishment. We were greeted with a long wait with no information when we could be seated. Although there were tables inside we were seated in the heat of a Tennessee summer. When we finally got the chance to even speak to a server we were given water in plastic cups, although everyone around us was served glasses. Despite this and the flies we still had stars in our eyes for the very reason we drove in rush hour traffic, the glorious burger week burger. The burger that was promise consisted of grilled, phở-spiced beef patty, hoisin/lemongrass glaze, jalapeño mayo, fried shallots, sweet pickles, Vietnamese pickles, shredded lettuce and cheddar on Charpier bun. Instead of receiving the promised tantalizing burger, we were met with a plain cheeseburger. There was no hint of flavor found except burnt meat. They must have run out of the ingredients. My party and I wish we had received a warning. The flys ended up consuming about the same amount of the burgers that we did. Every table around us were given fly deterrents except us. They could tell we came for burger week. This was a sad meal.

Bold flavor in a shy hidden spot. Very cool little shop. Sushi is what they're most well known for and it did look pretty insane. But their other asian fusion dishes are awesome too. The tandoori wings were a bit dry but are super flavorful and the creamy sauce provided pairs quite nicely. The Bangkok beef is so rich and complex, I couldn't get enough and they do give you a generous portion size!

This is a disappointing review to write, seeing as though I was a fan of Silo.* But this was not good. At all. I took photographic evidence to go along with my review so as to back up my words. Not good. At all. The really unfortunate problematic name of the restaurant should have been enough to out me off from visiting. As it was, I was an early visitor to the spot. I was excited from the Silo connection. But some things should probably stay in the past. Since we were freshly into the 're-opening' period (and because we live in TN), I ordered my food to go. PW is in a small space. I mention that for two reasons: 1.) it's impossible not to notice when someone comes and goes. 2.) people are sort of a$$-to-elbow. I wasn't greeted by a single person when I walked in. No 'hello.' Not even a head nod. I just stood there looking/feeling awkward. And no one (staff/patron) was masked or distanced. This may be a joke here but, you know, pandemic. Death. Lifelong illness. I finally waved someone down and made my way to grab my food at the bar and check out. That experience was perfunctory. No Southern small talk. Just 'here's your food. Pay... and tip.' Fun. I noticed that I paid more than was advertised online but I figured that was due to me getting more food. Each of my dishes came in oversized takeout boxes. I was very wrong. My karaage was a small amount of greasy popcorn chicken. That's a little gracious. I had more than one 'breading bite' -- meaning there wasn't even chicken in the greaseball. No wonderfully crunchy Japanese chicken wings was I to taste. I received a pitiful amount of sloppy chicken bits. Picture uploaded. I'm not lying. My waffle fries** were cold, stuck together and (you guessed it) few in number. But for feeling guilty about throwing away food, I would have tossed it out. Instead I took pictures and vowed to never return. It was right there in the name. I knew better. To end on a good note, I will say that Sylvan Supply is gorgeous. Sylvan Heights may be a made-up thing but it shoor is purty. Nicely done, developers. *For the n00bs, Silo was a Germantown staple that helped put Nashville's food scene on the map in the heyday of the current population/tourism boom. ** The reason this is a '2' and not a '1.' Ordering this was my fault... although a restaurant shouldn't have an item on the menu that it doesn't execute well.

    Cumin Lamb...delicious
    Bryan H.

I didn't get any sushi so I can't comment. I got the House Special Cumin Lamb and it was delicious. Seemed clean, music was just fine. I had a hard time finding it at first as I went to the front and had to go up the stairs and back down to the backside. Service was fine (I was the only one there early and they only stopped once for a drink refill...had to ask for the check as I was waiting). Seemed like cost was a little high on some items I know are cheaper elsewhere. I didn't get it but $12 for 4 dumplings? Even if they are handmade I didn't get it because of the cost. I am sure the rent there isn't cheap so its reflected in the food prices.

Was joined by my Yelper friend for a happy hour at Punk Wok and it lived up to my high expectations. During happy hour, sushi is half off, so we indulged in 2 rolls. My favorite was the Peruvian roll, topped with a shrimp ceviche and garlic drizzle. It was a tantalizing mix of textures and flavors and unlike other sushi rolls I've tried before. The garlic drizzle stirred up a craving in me for Peruvian chicken... perhaps more to come on that note. Of course, as a fermented vegetable fan girl, I suggested we try the pickled vegetables. The cucumber pickles were the best, but the kimchi could stand on its own. Happy hour gets crowded from 6-7, but when we were seated at 5 there was ample bar seating. The atmosphere was lively without being too loud or crowded and the staff was friendly. I'm definitely adding Punk Wok to my list of favorite happy hour specials!

    Sushi happy hour
    Gregory B.

I got in here for a late lunch and ordered one of the specials of the day. Wish I had known about sushi happy hour, as I would have definitely taken advantage. I put it on my notepad for a revisit during sushi happy hour. I have both in this review. Nice little spot in Sylvan Supply. Medium sized bar with quite a few tables around the side and in the back. I ordered to go to take into Bearded Iris (Black Dynasty was not serving yet). While waiting, the sushi chef pulled out a big slab of fresh tuna to prep. After we talked sushi for a bit, the chef handed me some of the fresh tuna to try. Top knotch. The food did not disappoint that day and I would have given a 4 star rating. Yay! Fast forward a few weeks and sushi happy hour. This is no sushi train or supermarket, but the fish did not bowl me over. I would say more in the 2-3 star rating. I will give the pricing during sushi happy hour a bump (half price on all but three items) and the service was still very good, but the sushi was more on the marginal side that day. I would still say you should try it out and see, as I might just have hit a happy hour faux pas, but I was looking at my plate (picture) saying "did I really order that much?" rather than "so happy I came back". So I am stuck in average territory. Overal, not bad for a landlocked city. If I could repeat the first experience, even more power. I will redo the review if I find I just hit a bad day. Not that average is bad, but people often regard a 3-star review as bad. It's not. Just more OK than great or my favorite. So, the big question is "will I return?" As one who always likes to give a fair shake to restaurants, I will definitely consider a return visit. I really love the atmosphere, presentation of the food, et al, but I will order less up front and add on rather than pile in.

Solid sushi. Good portions. The half off deal was definitely worth it. We enjoyed our time here and will be back.

No, inside is not suitable for any size dog. They have an outside patio area, but I would call to ask about bringing a dog.

The food was outstanding. Our favorite rolls were the Crispy Tempura Roll and the Shogun Roll--both were packed with flavor and showcased the freshness and creativity that O-Ku is known for. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive during the entire dining experience. The food was very good from the appetizers to the sushi rolls. Fish was very fresh and the wines were good. The only shock was the tax rate which couldn't be explained by the waiter other than to say that's how they maintain the roads. On a bill of exactly $100, our taxes added $14.09 to the total. It's definitely not the restaurants' fault, but TN or Nashville specifically needs to address the 14.1% taxes on a restaurant bill. It's egregious, but again I can't fault the restaurant hence the 5 star review.

Unfortunately, the experience was even worse. It took over an hour to receive our first round of drinks, and several of them arrived improperly made--including espresso martinis garnished with olives. The second round took even longer, and the overall service flow was chaotic and disorganized. Food and drinks arrived sporadically rather than together, and it was obvious that the staff lacked support and leadership. I want to be clear: our waitress, Ellie, was not the issue. She remained kind, professional, and did her best under impossible circumstances. Our concerns were never directed at her, and she deserves praise for maintaining her composure throughout the evening. The real problem was management. Despite the extensive delays and obvious service breakdowns, no manager proactively came to address the table. When we finally sought assistance ourselves, we were met with excuses rather than accountability. Even more disappointing was Angelo's dismissive and snarky response, telling us to "proceed" when we expressed our concerns. Rather than supporting his staff or attempting to resolve the situation, management's handling of the evening only made matters worse. To add insult to injury, we were presented with a bill claiming the birthday girl's meal had been comped when it had not. A complimentary bottle of champagne delivered at the end of the evening did little to remedy an experience that had already fallen apart. As fellow hospitality professionals, we understand that mistakes happen and generally extend a great deal of grace. What we cannot excuse is the lack of accountability, poor leadership, and the apparent willingness to let a server absorb the consequences of management's failures. Ellie deserved support (which is what the table took care of.) Instead, she was left to fend for herself while management failed both their guests and their staff. Sadly, after two disappointing experiences, I cannot recommend this establishment.
