Was craving sushi and finally got to check this spot out. The menu is pretty big for a sushi restaurant which was surprising. The restaurant is small inside but has patio seating. Since we are getting to colder weather this can be a little bit of a problem as the inside will get more crowded. We were able to seat ourselves anywhere and service was really quick. My husband and I got miso soup each and three rolls to share. It was enough food for two people and pretty reasonably priced. I do feel like because it started to get busy we got rushed out to clear the table for more people. While I understand needing the space it could have been dealt with better. The waitress came back to us and just asked if we were ready to pay because we were sitting there talking after finishing our food.

Was craving sushi and found this place via Yelp. Being new to the area and state with my hometown being in California there are amazing sushi places back home that have set my standards high. The drive wasn't too far and there is accessible onsite parking. I walked in and sat at the bar. My order was taken promptly. To prepare the palate I ordered a Sapporo (Japanese beer) and then proceeded to take my time looking at the menu. In the end I ordered two fried rolls and one salmon lover roll. The portions were generous and the sushi was excellent. I liked the sauce and the flavors which added to the sushi. Pros: food is great and the service prompt. Great atmosphere and vibes. The pricing for 3 different rolls and a beer was around 50 bucks so not the cheapest meal but if you're coming hungry and with others or on a date splitting is not bad. Definitely a great sushi place to add to your date night/ catch up or hang out list.

Really enjoyed this casual date night spot. The sushi was pretty good and they had a big selection of different rolls to choose from. We did have to wait about 8-10 minutes before given menus, but they were very busy and once we were greeted by our waiter he was great. We had 3 different rolls. Hot night, volcano, and the pink lady. All were very good but the hot night had to be my favorite! Would definitely come back to this place the next time I'm craving sushi!

I dined in at Maru Nations - West Nashville on Tuesday, 11/21/23 at 6:30 P.M. The restaurant is conveniently located and easy to spot. Despite it being a busy evening, we didn't have to wait long for our table. Our server promptly provided us with menus and took our drink orders. The modern rustic decor of the restaurant sets a cozy ambiance, albeit a bit loud. Their extensive menu offers a range of sushi and Japanese cuisine that is sure to please any palate. We sampled several dishes, with a few standouts including beef fried rice, hamachi Kama, and a selection of sushi rolls. The beef fried rice was a flavor-packed dish, perfectly cooked with a fried egg, beef, and mixed vegetables. The Hamachi Kama, also known as yellowtail collar, is a tender cut of meat taken from the space between the gills and the head. It is charbroiled to perfection, giving it a slight charred flavor, and served with a delectable house sauce. Each bite was succulent, exploding with the sweetness of the meat. Their sushi options are quite impressive, offering a variety of special rolls, all priced under $20. I tried the Dragon and Tiger rolls, both of which were delicious. The Dragon roll composed of eel and cucumber topped with avocado, eel sauce, and tobiko, while the Tiger roll featured fried shrimp and spicy tuna topped with eel, avocado, and eel sauce. The rolls were well-constructed, remaining intact with each bite, and the perfect balance of rice and topping made each mouthful a delight. Overall, Maru Nations - West Nashville is a treasure trove of culinary delights. The food and service are exceptional, and the convenience of on-site parking, particularly given its proximity to the downtown area, is a definite plus. The prices are reasonable, striking a good balance with the quality of food offered, and the staff are notably friendly and welcoming. The restaurant operates three locations (East Nashville, West Nashville, and Hendersonville), ensuring accessibility for all patrons. As with many Japanese restaurants, they observe a midday break, so be sure to plan your visit accordingly. The experience at Maru Nations is well worth it.

Visited Nov 21, 2023. Omg, such a cute, little spot! Inside appearance is better than out. My family came here unintentionally due to long wait times at Sonobana. If you're a regular at Sonobana, this place would absolutely be worth trying because it's only 9 minutes away from them and hardly any wait times! My party ordered quite a spread and were pleased with each dish's flavor. The ambience is bright, clean, & cozy. The service is quick/helpful, along with ample private lot parking + street parking. Thrilled to come back for another round!

This might be the best sushi take out in Nashville. I've tried lots of different sushi places on Uber eats but Maru is always so fresh with the best sushi roll options.

My favorite place in Nashville for sushi hands down!! Plus we always have the friendliest and fastest service. I don't even want more people to figure out about this place so it doesn't get more crowded!

My boyfriend and I are new to the neighborhood and were really excited to check out Maru! We are already looking forward to going back. We started with wine and edamame. For the entree, we tried the Crispy Roll, Rainbow Roll, and Crunch Mania Roll. All of the rolls were delicious, and it's hard to pick a favorite. There was only one person covering all of the tables, so the service was delayed. (Not a criticism of the waiter by any means, he was working incredibly hard.) I'd recommend asking for anything you think you'll need while ordering. Overall, it's a cute spot with delicious food!

Bar area and plenty of seating for everyone as well as a great open kitchen concept.

Now... if only I could remember where I am staying. LOL. Just kidding! I made it. I got so lit in Japanese whiskey flights that I ordered enough food for two people. The "Flight to Tokyo" lived up to its namesake tremendously. That dang whiskey is wicked man. Combined with the beers that go down like water and you may be like me.... Wasted Soup dumplings are so damn cool. It's also either an engineering marvel or some sort of biblical miracle. How is the soup born inside the little dumpling?? So many questions!! I had some here and they were sure tasty!! I also had some killer crispy fried pork belly and some kick ass twice fried Korean wings!! Pork belly had tremendous umami flavors and was sticky sweet and yummy all at once! Loved it! But then came the Star.... I love chicken wings as much as I love life! That my friend, is a whole fucking lot!! I am more full of myself than you could possibly imagine. I loved these particular chicken wings a little more than life. I walked through downtown Nashville alone, on a random weeknight, just to eat these wings because I saw them on Yelp. I had already eaten dinner at Eddie V's earlier in the evening, but these wings called me from more than a mile away... Come eat me, Adam.... Is all I could hear after I saw others pictures of the wings.... Shhhh. Wings. I can't. But you must, said the wings.... I can't, I have no transportation.... You have two feet still, the wings said... Guess who won that argument? '26 - 23

The ambience is bright and energetic, with fun neon signs and decor. The space feels open and spacious with plenty of seating. We started our night with the Pork Belly Bao Buns, but since they were out of pork belly, we tried the Chinese BBQ Pork instead. I wasn't upset because they were phenomenal. The Soup Dumplings were just as amazing, but the Roti Canai (Malaysian flatbreads with curry sauce) stole the show. The curry was rich with the perfect amount of spice. You're missing out if you skip the appetizers here. For my entrée, I ordered the Hong Kong Wonton Noodle Soup, and all I can say is wow. The broth and tender wontons were the perfect combination. My boyfriend loved his Pad Thai as well, and the only downside was the portion size for the price. I want to give a huge shoutout to our server, Jaylen, for making the experience top-notch. He was incredibly attentive, patient, and offered great recommendations through the night. Hawkers is on my list for date nights, ladies' nights, or a casual evening out (especially for drinks and appetizers!)

We had read somewhere that Acme Feed & Seed (in an historic 1890 building) offered a quieter alternative. We gathered around a nice table near the stage on the first floor, and maybe there were a dozen other people there? Yet, on the next Broadway block things were in full swing? We weren't complaining, but wondered why? The first floor at Acme has been described as a high-energy "Funky Tonk" atmosphere featuring a main stage for live music, a large bar, and fast-casual dining. Our band during our stage was even a little different than that, and what an enjoyable group is was! The Mudbug Stompers brought us the sounds of old-time jug bands, Dixieland jazz, blues, trains, baseball, and crawfish boils. Although this is a Nashville Band, we could have easy been on or around Bourbon Street in NOLA. I was particularly impressed with the trumpet player and the lead singer who played a mean mandolin. Add the string base, sax, and fiddle, and we experienced a very impressive whole. We were highly entertained and engaged, and we're still talking about the experience!

Once our table was ready, we were seated at the door with a 1/2 table but it worked since it was just three of us. If I returned I'd want to do a full table as it was difficult to cook and talk to each other at a half table. There are tons of raw meat, veggie, seafood, noodles, rice options to grill or add to your hot pot. Along with sushi and desserts. Everything I had was good except the sushi which was bland and tasted like it sat out for hours. I also wish it wasn't buffet style with so many hands touching everything. Plus the plates were stored beneath the food and were hard to reach. I stood most of the time to cook because of the table set up. I'm not sure how others did it but I had to go get clean plates to place my food on after cooking because I refused to put cooked food on a plate with formerly raw meat. There also needs to be clean bowls available for finished hot pot food. I had to use the ramen bowl I had from the conveyor belt. Speaking of the conveyor belt, I'm confused about its point an only one person at our table could reach it. Things were not labeled and the majority were available on the buffet. My niece enjoyed herself so that's what really mattered. However, she's the one that gave it 3 stars so not the best or her favorite but also not bad. I will say (and I never mentioned this to my niece because I didn't want to ruin the evening) that I used the restroom and while washing my hands saw one of the workers use the restroom and never wash her hands! Thankfully for us were were done getting food but that's unacceptable. And yes I followed her out and know she was in fact a worker!
