Despite coming to Jashan on a Thursday night without a reservation in Nashville, my friend and I were promptly seated and welcomed with fresh Indian chips (I believe they're called papad) served with sweet tamarind and a green chutney. Our helpful server, G, provided excellent recommendations and highlighted menu items based on my preferences (I'm a big saag paneer fan). The methi malai chicken was incredibly tender, slow-cooked in a rich, creamy fenugreek curry. The dal makhani was also delicious, with a warm, comforting flavor that felt perfect for a cozy meal. The flavorful, fresh-baked onion naan was also amazing and paired perfectly with everything. Overall, the service, atmosphere, and food made for a great dining experience. I'd heard a lot about Jashan and was excited to finally try it.... but honestly, I came away disappointed. Maybe it's because I ordered through DoorDash, though the distance wasn't that far (just 1.8 miles!), so freshness shouldn't have been an issue. I started with the Bao Wow Buns with Butter Chicken -- the concept sounded amazing, but the execution missed the mark. The buns themselves were soft and nicely made, but the butter chicken filling was dry, lacking sauce, and the chicken pieces were oddly hard -- almost stale in texture. It came with a handful of rocket leaves (arugula) tossed in plain, with no dressing, and a small dip that tasted a bit fishy, which didn't pair well with the dish. The biryani was even more disappointing. Visually unappealing, and the flavor didn't redeem it. I kept biting into little stone-like bits and whole illichi (cardamom pods) that made it unpleasant to eat. It was supposed to be boneless chicken, but I did find a few small bone fragments in there. The only saving grace? The raita was fresh and cooling, and that's what I ended up finishing. Maybe dining in is a better experience, but based on this delivery, Jashan didn't live up to the hype. This is a fairly upscale Indian restaurant with pretty good food. The staff is very nice and helpful in providing recommendations from their menu. I had a creamy chicken dish. The meat was juicy and the sauce was great. However, it came with a tomato rice which I don't feel paired well at all with the meet It felt like I was eating 2 very different meals. I mentioned to the waitress that I was not loving the rice and she was kind enough to bring me some white rice. Updating this review since I visited here a few other times. Once, I again went for brunch, given it's such a good deal and you get so much food and get to try so many dishes. Again, the service was fantastic and the food was so flavorful! This time I also did the bottomless mimosa which comes with a variety of different juices. However, the music (American classic pop) did not fit the ambiance and was quite loud for a classier restaurant. Additionally, while the restaurant was quite empty, our service was extremely poor. I was excited to try pani puri for the first time....it was everyone else's first time also. We all enjoyed it. It's more of a textural experience than a flavor experience, but one worth experiencing none the less. The hummus was unique, wierd to have at an Indian spot but delicious. It tasted like cucumbers and was refreshing. The mains came and all of them were good and actually have a bit of spice to them. Even the medium has a good amount. I had been wanting to try Jashan since it first opened. I finally got the chance to try it when I went for lunch with a friend. There is free parking on the side of the building, which is a bonus in Nashville. They have done a really nice job decorating the interior, erasing all memories of J. Christophers, the previous restaurant which was more of a breakfast/brunch spot. You can order from the regular dinner menu but for lunch, you really need to try their Thali lunch special. For $16, it's basically a buffet of food. Rice and naan were surrounded by Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken (did not taste anything like the Chinese version, so that was a plus), Peas & Potato, Lentils, a little garden salad and a Mango pudding. If you want a refill on any of those items, they bring another serving of the item for free! The service was excellent. The food was so good that I have dinner reservations there next week. Let me explain how I am kicking myself for not noticing this restaurant sooner. Jashan screams authenticity and the interior is small but beautiful. Although we had to wait about 15 minutes past our reservation time I can't even be upset because it was a packed house for good reason. The staff was kind to give us updates and seat us as soon as a table opened. They have a very extensive menu with both vegetarian and meat options. The bar area also had a lot of space for patrons to drink and eat. The chicken dish I had was juicy with a flavorful and creamy sauce. A couple of my friends got the goat. They enjoyed the meat itself but said the sauce had more of a tomato flavor than a curry flavor. Definitely can't wait to go back. read more

We've eaten here twice. Once for dinner and once for lunch. Each time, it was a delight. The food is outstanding. My favorite was the lunch thali. Everything on the plate was delicious and made fresh with care. When you wanted more, you simply asked your waiter and he brought out whatever you requested. So it's like a lunch buffet, but it's white glove service. You don't have to get up from your table. This is a real unique experience for Indian food. read more

The flavors were all bold, I would've liked them spicier but I understand they were making food for everyone and not on an individual basis. There was pakora, salad, daal, saag (spinach) paneer, rice, naan, and the sweet rice soup on both plates. The veg curries were a dry potato and baby corn manchurian (I think), while the meat ones were chicken manchurian, a creamy chicken curry, and a more soup chicken curry. This restaurant is a great new addition to Nashville. I'm also so happy to see they are open for lunch (there are not enough higher level restaurants open for lunch here). It's a plus that you can order off the main menu OR the lunch menu, I don't always like the slimmed down options some places offer for lunch. We love a fancy lunch. We got the paneer kung pao appetizer & it was delicious. As well as the butter chicken, malai kofta & garlic naan as our mains to share. Sauces are fantastic (which is key at any Indian establishment). Was certainly pleasantly surprised. Our waitress wasn't fantastic though & would disappear for super long amounts of time in the back. Yes, if you come to Nashville you absolutely need to try this place. I did not expect to visit an upscale Indian restaurant with this kind of vibe, cocktails and food. As soon as you walk in it sets the vibe for the whole place. A nice bar and then the seating area. We chose to sit at the bar of which has padded seats with a low back (thank you) and makes sitting comfy. Our bartender was super helpful and recommended drinks and food. I had the Dhua Dhua old fashioned that has some cardamom in it and it was epic. We shared the Bengali Lobster and it was delicious, the food here is so good and they offer traditional Indian dishes as well as what I would call Indian American fusion? I had some wonderful meals in Nashville, and this one might have been the best, or at least tied for it (seriously, Nashville, y'all crushed it on the food front)! Top end Indian cuisine served in a modern yet comfortable atmosphere, and service that could not have been more pleasant and prompt without being overbearing. Nailed it! I came for lunch with this place highly recommended by Nashville's Yelp community manager, and that was an excellent decision. First, an appetizer of pani puri, which is one of my new favorite interactive apps. This came with 6 crunchy pastries to fill, and 3 juices to do it with, all delicious and interactive. At lunch, they offer an all you can eat thali platter, and wow... this is my new favorite way to eat Indian food, even above a buffet as it is a little more sanitary and you consistently are getting fresh food. For those unfamiliar, a thali platter is like Indian tapas. You get a little bit of a variety of things, and who doesn't like that? The offerings vary daily on chef's selection. While we were there, it had three proteins (a vegetarian thali is available), chicken 65, butter chicken, and a sweet chili chicken of some kind. All wonderful on both texture and taste, I particularly liked the chicken served on the bone. You then had a selection of sides, rice, naan, and a small dessert. If you want more of anything, you have but to ask. Wow. I love it! I didn't expect to have one of my top 5 Indian experiences while I was in Nashville, but here I am! In a city full of incredible Indian restaurants, Jashan is a must-visit. I recently dined here with a friend for lunch, and have to say that this is one of my new favorite spots to grab a midday meal. We didn't have a reservation, and I don't foresee that being an issue during their lunch service on weekdays. I do think you'd definitely want to make a reservation for Fridays/Saturdays! I also love that they have a separate (FREE) parking lot. My friend and I both ordered the Non-Veg Thali, and we were blown away by the variety and value of this. You get to try several different Indian dishes, and it's all-you-can-eat for $16/person! You better believe we got a few refills of naan and butter chicken. Along with their specials, you can also order anything from their regular menu for lunch. We decided to try their Flight of Pani Puri, which is so tasty and fun! If you're looking for an interactive dining experience, this is a must-order. As if the delicious menu weren't enough, the service is hands-down some of the best I've had in Nashville. Our server and the general manager checked in regularly throughout our meal, and went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed everything. I'm admittedly not well-versed in Indian food, so I was excited to see that Jashan offers a thali, which is a sampling of entrees, sides and, of course, naan. I believe it is only offered during lunch. I ordered the veg thali and was blown away by everything on the platter. There wasn't a single thing I didn't devour. I wish there was a way to label each individual dish because my memory is terrible, so I don't want to misname anything. But if you're feeling adventurous, thali is a great way to expose yourself to a lot of flavors in one sitting. And while it was all-you-can-eat, I had to tap out after the first round. I had to save room for a bite of the cardamom brownie with chai ice-cream, which was so decadent. The service was great and I liked the modern yet laid-back atmosphere. It's actually unbelievable how amazing the food is here. Jashan opened up down the street from me and ruined all other Indian places. At first I was very turned off by their all-you-can-eat to-your-table system because it slowed down my ability to consume as much food as possible. But Jashan is just a different class, it's fancier and white table cloth. At this point they could feed me with a trough and I'd still be here every week. Elegant restaurant with parking near Vanderbilt. The interior gives club vibes. Servers were kind but a bit slow. They are initially attentive and then service at the end is more difficult. We had to wait over 10-15 minutes to get someone's attention for boxes and check. Being from the northeast I'm used to excellent Indian food but surprised with what is available in Nashville. They provide complimentary papadum which was excellent. The chutneys have the homemade taste and the sweet chutney was unique/not sour. Mango lassi: 4.5/5 so much quantity for the price. It was excellent and thick. Given in a cute glass milk bottle. Was more sour which is why is lost .5 but needed a bit more sweetness and would be perfect. Kung pao cauliflower: 3.5/5 I understand they wanted an Indian Thai fusion but it needed more Manchurian sauce and spice. The cauliflower wasn't fried well and was more chewy at times than crispy. Butter naan: 4/5 nice and soft but needed to be slightly more crispy. Was too fluffy. Paneer tikka: 4/5 they definitely get spice right. We asked for spicy and they put fresh green chilies with the red spice. Pretty decent for Nashville but definitely more Americanized taste than Indian.
