Ram Tonkotsu Chicken Ramen Noodles
Kimberly M.

Really cute place that draws the local college crowd with big portions and affordable fair. We popped in here for a late dinner. The staff was very helpful and efficient. However, the chicken was very over cooked and the noodles had no bite. The broth was flavorful, but if I return, I will order something other than ramen.

The delicious Korean Army Ramen! Fresh meat and veggies with some really nice spicy heat.

Delicious Ramen fairly priced. I visited Funtime for lunch recently and I'm so glad I did. The menu is interesting and has more than just Ramen. I tried the Korean Army Ramen and loved it. It has beef, Spam (!), tofu, and a nice level of spicy heat. The flavor profile was fantastic. I would definitely order this again. My friend had the Tonkotsu Ramen and said it was delicious. I noticed several college students were in the restaurant, and almost all of them were drinking one of the Boba Teas. They looked great and I will definitely try one next time. This is a great place for a delicious lunch.

Que! I can't believe I have found the best ramen in Nashville. The service was smooth and friendly and very quick. I ordered the tuna roll with avocado and the Tonkotsu Pork Ramen Noodles. All I can say is nothing, my mouth is full... yum yum. Amazing! The roll was so fresh I thought they had a thank in the back and fishing from it on demand. The ramen was just delicious. I definitely would add some spicy to it for my personal liking but the original version is just perfect. The flavors were on point and the noodles! A ramen is a ramen because of its noodles too and they were the perfect ones. It brings all the yummy stuff. I would say the egg could be a little less boiled but still delicious. The prices were very reasonable for the area and the type of food. Parking is not easy but they do have some street parking around. They have a parking lot in the back but it's not theirs so they have warning signs to NOT park there to avoid towing. Come check them out!

Don't let the photos fool you! Moderate fun, when your ramen is cold to tepid and the noodles are mushy. I'm guessing that the Korean Army Ramen is from the survivalist cookbook of the North Korean Army. The noodles were warm but overcooked. Broth lukewarm to cold. Spam cold as was the kimchi. Not very flavorful. Same problem for the tonkatsu pork. Not fkavorful. Hot and cold. The meat in the Pork Chashu was low grade and older. Funky taste. We threw it out. Gyoza was reheated from a prior fry. Sucked. The takoyashi balls were fresh fried in a deep fryer, rather than being freshly turned/made. They were also excruciatingly hot. Order than eat at tables inside, or out. Fast food ambience. Service was perfunctory, at best. Next to Belmont University, the good reviews must be college students. Some of the worst ramen that I've ever eaten. AVOID.

Devil Miso Ramen

Looks like Chatime is now Funtime, but it's as good as (if not better than) ever! The options for tea are still extensive and the ramen is still delicious. I love the devil miso ramen, but I might have to get a different kind in the future if it's that spicy again--it really knocked my socks off this time but is probably perfect for someone who's less of a spice wimp. I tried a new tea today, the jasmine milk tea, and it was wonderfully balanced. It was sweet without being TOO sweet and the jasmine flavor really came through. The boba were perfectly soft and chewy. I'm excited to come back and try some of the new options. Now there is sushi, poke, and rice dishes (like katsu curry). Sitting smack in the middle of the Belmont campus, the atmosphere is relaxed college casual. Funtime is great place to pop in and relax for a bit, study, or meet with friends. Boba is served at the counter, and food is brought to the table. I'm glad to see this place growing and evolving because I'd be so sad to lose it!

A number of restaurants close on Sunday or Monday, including my usual ramen spot. In the mood for ramen, I was not to be denied. Saw the high marks for Funtime and it was off to the races! Parking is very limited in front of the business; likewise for street parking. We found a spot a little over a block away; conspicuous signs were posted about parking restrictions but they applied Monday-Friday (today was Sunday). Order at the counter, pay and seat yourself. This arrangement worked well for us as they were not too busy. My Devil Miso Soup was spicy as advertised so be aware. I wanted something spicy on this dreary, rainy day and it was perfect. The egg was just right, bamboo was on point and the pork was fabulous. I tried my partners Tonkatsu Ramen and I have to say the broth was some of the best I've had; so rich and savory it had a light gravy-like texture. Beautiful! A variety of milk teas and smoothies are also available, so this place ended up being a lunch and dessert spot. I was pleasantly surprised to discover Funtime, and will make it back to try something else!

I was looking for a place to have lunch after visiting Lane Motor Museum. I did a search and found Funtime Ramen & Tea Bar. Perfect! I actually drove around the block the first time. There is parking in front of the eatery, but all spots were taken. I was also looking at street parking. I eventually cycled back and parked on Portland Avenue. I then walked over. There are a set of steps that lead you to the main entrance. I don't think that this place has a ramp for those who need one. This eatery is near Belmont University. I had found a college eatery. If you look closely at the sign as you are heading over to the entrance, Fun is in a slightly different font than time. My guess at the time was that this eatery was a Chatime. I looked at some photos on Yelp and it confirmed my suspicion. It changed over to being an independent place for ramen, snacks, and bubble tea. The idea is that you place your order at the counter and pay for it. If you are dining in, you get a numbered stand and you place it on your table. Your order then gets delivered to you. I was hungry and thirsty. I placed this order: - Mango QQ with pearls and coconut jelly - Pan-fried gyoza with dipping sauce - Tonkotsu ramen with pork I asked that the bamboo shoots be held in my ramen. Done! My bubble tea was ready first. The mango was so refreshing. There were lots of pearls and coconut jelly. I loved this drink so much that it sparked me to get another bubble tea before I left the place. The pan-fried gyoza came out next. They were in a basket with dipping sauce. The filling had pork and some veggies. It was flavourful and generous. Each gyoza was perfectly pan-fried. They were authentic. I recommend getting them. My tonkotsu ramen with pork came out next. I liked that it came with an egg and generous slices of pork. The ramen was chewy. It was highly enjoyable to devour. The pork was tender and delicious. I loved the egg. It was neither overdone, nor runny. Just right. The roasted seaweed was a nice touch. The only part of my ramen that needed some improvement was the broth. It didn't have a ton of flavour. It wasn't bad, as everything else in my ramen stepped up to the flavour plate, but the broth was not memorable. It was boring. I ordered a strawberry green tea with lychee jelly (no sugar and less ice) to go. For both my purchases, I paid with a credit card and tipped. Yay! I used the washroom at the back of the store. It was clean. No complaints. I returned to the counter and my bubble tea was ready. I thanked the woman and left with my drink. I drank it as I continued being a tourist. It was so good. I love lychee jelly, which complemented the strawberry and green tea flavours. If you feel like bubble tea or a decent meal, come here. Prices are good, considering that it's in college territory. You can save a bit and leave with a happy tummy. (313)

Korean Spicy Chicken Wings (6)

The wings weren't tossed and just had the paste thrown on it. Took a bite and was extremely disappointed so much so i drove all the way back just to return it. The smoothie tasted like milk more than anything and the food was extremely flavorless. Over all not a fan at all. Spent 60+ and also tipped for take out and wish i could get all my money back honestly.

Sitting with a teddy bear (a Belmont Bruin?)

I am going to rate this for what it is, which is a college food joint. I don't think the ramen is particularly special (see review on Black Dynasty in Bearded Iris Sylvan Supply), but it is much less expensive than most of the Ramen places in town. I gave the bump to 4 largely because it is not trying to be a higher end Ramen spot. Plus the teddy bears? Let's dig into that. When you compare a great Japanese Ramen to Funtime, you get a really reach deep broth where some of the fat is emulsified. The majority of the flavor itself comes from the tare (sauce) that is placed in before adding the broth, noods, and toppings.. The eggs are not cooked in the broth (see picture), but will be at the softer side of soft boiled, with a bright yellow/orange yoke (the pic shows how muted brownish grey both the white and yolk are here. Having said that, the $13.99 price tag is about $6 - $7 cheaper than other places, so I can't rate them as equivalents. I also had some boba tea, which is a fairly standard option in a lot of Asian restaurants. Mango QQ with pearl boba and coconut jelly. Interesting textures. Definitely recommend for the cheaper meal; would opt for Black Dynasty and a beer if you want to go more high end. For a summary, this place is where you go when

The most recent menu says Bulgogi $12.99 , but they charged me $13.99

I really like this Boba place. They have a decent selection , it's not a huge selection of Boba, but the ones they have are pretty good. They also have some good food and they make it pretty fast. They have more meals than other Boba places do. They are very nice and helpful. Unfortunately they raised their prices recently by a lot. I'm talking like three dollars more on the meals and they got rid of their combo meals, which were a really good deal. So now this place is gonna have to be a luxury. It cost me $20 for a drink and lunch to pickup. If I wanted to spend $20 on lunch I could have it delivered from some other location like Fido. I used to come here with my husband , but now it would be $40 for two drinks and meals or $14 for two drinks. It's just a bit too expensive to come so often. The irony is that when the prices are affordable I'll go like 2 times a week. But when they are higher I can only go like once a month. They said they had to raise prices due to inflation etc. so I guess we can't blame them. I guess to fix this problem we'd have to fix the entire American economy and stop feeding monopolies like Amazon. Very sad to live in a world where people make less an hour than it costs to buy a fast food meal. I still like this place and I will come when I can, but I honestly can't afford to come often anymore. Also see my pictures : I was charged $1 more than the menu price for the bulgogi meal. I placed a phone order and they quoted my total before tax as $17.98 at the price on the menu for bulgogi which is $12.99. When I came in I asked why the price was so high and the clerk said that was before tax. I just let it go because they did not understand. But after when they gave me the receipt I saw it's because they added a dollar to the meal and charged $13.99. Maybe by accident? Or maybe the price raised between the time I placed the order and picked it up.

Add mame - a little too salty
Horton L.

"Very cool college vibe ramen eatery" PROS: fast service, food was decent, we had ramen that tasted good! Delicious Bobba tea at a reasonable price. Friendly servers, clean bathrooms, free fast Wi-Fi. Discount for students. CONS: ramen was on the salty side, salmon poke bowl was fresh but the sauce was a little too heavy, which took away the fresh salmon taste. Ademame apertizers was average, had too much salt on it. The shop was a little small so sometimes it could be packed with no seating options. PRO TIP: bring your college ID for 10% off!

Thai Thai Iced Tea QQ

I was so excited to try Chatime as I saw so many great reviews and the menu looked like it had a lot of great options. I've had Chatime in other cities, but I was extremely disappointed in this Chatime and I'm not sure if I came on a bad day. I got the Horjicha Grass Jelly milk tea. I must say that their grass jelly is really good, but my drink was so watered down that it tasted like cardboard. One of my friends got the Oolong Milk Tea and it straight up tasted like milk and water. When she ordered it, the person behind the counter didn't even know what drink she was referring to. My other friend got the Thai Iced Tea and it was extremely watered down as well and had no flavor.

This place has its highs and its lows. The sushi was tasty, but the ramen could have been better. The matcha was great but the smoothie was a bit too milky. Overall pretty good, just some items stand out when compared to others. Staff were very friendly and the inside was nice and comfortable.

Wasted Soup dumplings are so damn cool. It's also either an engineering marvel or some sort of biblical miracle. How is the soup born inside the little dumpling?? So many questions!! I had some here and they were sure tasty!! I also had some killer crispy fried pork belly and some kick ass twice fried Korean wings!! Pork belly had tremendous umami flavors and was sticky sweet and yummy all at once! Loved it! But then came the Star.... I love chicken wings as much as I love life! That my friend, is a whole fucking lot!! I am more full of myself than you could possibly imagine. I loved these particular chicken wings a little more than life. I walked through downtown Nashville alone, on a random weeknight, just to eat these wings because I saw them on Yelp. I had already eaten dinner at Eddie V's earlier in the evening, but these wings called me from more than a mile away... Come eat me, Adam.... Is all I could hear after I saw others pictures of the wings.... Shhhh. Wings. I can't. But you must, said the wings.... I can't, I have no transportation.... The Soup Dumplings were just as amazing, but the Roti Canai (Malaysian flatbreads with curry sauce) stole the show. The curry was rich with the perfect amount of spice. You're missing out if you skip the appetizers here. For my entrée, I ordered the Hong Kong Wonton Noodle Soup, and all I can say is wow. The broth and tender wontons were the perfect combination. My boyfriend loved his Pad Thai as well, and the only downside was the portion size for the price. I want to give a huge shoutout to our server, Jaylen, for making the experience top-notch. He was incredibly attentive, patient, and offered great recommendations through the night. Hawkers is on my list for date nights, ladies' nights, or a casual evening out (especially for drinks and appetizers!)

We had read somewhere that Acme Feed & Seed (in an historic 1890 building) offered a quieter alternative. We gathered around a nice table near the stage on the first floor, and maybe there were a dozen other people there? Yet, on the next Broadway block things were in full swing? We weren't complaining, but wondered why? The first floor at Acme has been described as a high-energy "Funky Tonk" atmosphere featuring a main stage for live music, a large bar, and fast-casual dining. Our band during our stage was even a little different than that, and what an enjoyable group is was! The Mudbug Stompers brought us the sounds of old-time jug bands, Dixieland jazz, blues, trains, baseball, and crawfish boils. Although this is a Nashville Band, we could have easy been on or around Bourbon Street in NOLA. I was particularly impressed with the trumpet player and the lead singer who played a mean mandolin. Add the string base, sax, and fiddle, and we experienced a very impressive whole. We were highly entertained and engaged, and we're still talking about the experience!

There are tons of raw meat, veggie, seafood, noodles, rice options to grill or add to your hot pot. Along with sushi and desserts. Everything I had was good except the sushi which was bland and tasted like it sat out for hours. I also wish it wasn't buffet style with so many hands touching everything.
