It's hard to believe it's been 10 years since I was last at this Puckett's location, but on our last night in Nashville we came here for dinner. We were a group of 8, but I had no problem making a reservation on Yelp on a Monday night. The place really hasn't changed...great live music and a nice menu. I ordered the ribs with sides of Mac n cheese and mashed sweet potatoes. I wasn't crazy about the dry rub on the ribs but thought the sides were excellent. I owe my wife, my mother and Puckett's an apology. For years, I thought I didn't like meatloaf. Turns out I just hadn't had Puckett's meatloaf. What arrived was a Southern masterpiece: a hearty blend of beef smothered in rich gravy and onions, served over mashed potatoes with green beans alongside. One bite in and I understood why this dish has survived generations. Wow. Comfort food doesn't get much more comforting than this. My wife and I also shared the barbecue chicken with sweet potato fries and coleslaw. Everything was spot on. The chicken was tender, the fries were excellent, and the slaw brought just the right balance to the plate. Then came the unexpected bonus. The kitchen accidentally brought us an order of sliced brisket. Our server told us to keep it. Well, it would've been rude not to try it. Holy cow. Literally. The brisket was smoky, tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. If that was the mistake, I'd hate to see what happens when everything goes according to plan. Great food. Great atmosphere. Stopped in for lunch here with work group and the place had a good amount of people already; luckily we were seated fairly fast. Our server was super friendly and quick to greet us. I got the pulled pork which was good. They have bbq sauces on the table but I enjoyed the pork more without them (I believe they're vinegar based and I prefer my bbq sauce more sweet). I enjoyed the creaminess of the mac n cheese, I can't remember if there's a loaded mac n cheese on the menu but this would be a good base for it! Good spot overall. read more

We had already had a few adult beverages in the music venues on Broadway, so limited our consumption to food alone at Puckett's. My wife ordered the BBQ Taco Salad (see picture) and I went for the Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich with slaw (see picture). As we usually do, we shared our meals and both of us really enjoyed both of them. The pulled pork was well done and soft, the sweet potato fries were crispy and delicious - and both of the primary sauces were also very good! Get the bbq burrito!! Spectacular and unique! Super fun atmosphere! Even had live entertainment!

Food was great, typical prices, ambiance was fine, but the service was not good. I went there to eat by myself and the hostess seated me at a table near the kitchen/server area, where the bartender was supposed to be my server (unbeknownst to me and, apparently, unbeknownst to her). I sat for close to 10 minutes unattended, despite several servers walking by me many times. Finally, one server asked if I had been attended to, then went to find out who my server was supposed to be. In an effort to help, she agreed to tend to me, but I couldn't help feeling like I was an inconvenience. I never even got her name. In the end, she was okay, but the whole service thing really turned me off. read more

A solid 3.5! Kitchen needs better quality check on finished dishes before the go out. Especially when the restaurant is half empty. Staff was very nice and efficient! Really enjoyed the pimento cheese ball bites, the chicken and sausage gumbo was fantastic but the fried okra on top tasted like they had fried them too soon so they were greasy and soggy, as well as their wings were delicious. The Fried green tomatoes were stuck together so one side was fried and the other was gummy and others burnt. Shrimp and grits... I had 3 bites and that was enough. Way too much going on seasoning wise, asked for no bbq sauce drizzle but it happened anyway, shrimps were perfectly seasoned but could not taste the grits as there was just WAAAY too much of other things and flavors placed on top. KISS method works best for a classic dish like that. Fried green beans were lackluster but my fiancé said the smoked meat loaf was good and our friend really enjoyed the bbq ribs as well. read more

Where do I start!? When visiting Nashville you HAVE to come to Puckett's Restaurant if you want the most amazing BBQ and down-to-earth service. Our server was Douglas and he was so incredibly kind and helpful. He gave us his advice on the best dishes (according to his view) and also gave us his feedback on the questions we had. As an appetizer we got sweet potato fries with their special dipping sauce. These fries were probably one of the best sweet potato fries I've ever had!! They were crispy on the outside, well seasoned (but not overdone) and still soft in the inside. They weren't "mushy" at all -- for those of you who get sweet potato fries, you know. We also tried the skillet mac and cheese which is a MUST try and flap jacks which are a very thin pancake style type food. Yum, so good! For my entree I got the Entrée Salad in the full/large size which comes with field greens, tomatoes, onions and shredded cheddar and jack cheeses. And than I of course added a meat, which I chose the cherrywood smoked pulled pork and BBQ ranch dressing. O-M-G, one of the best and most filling salads I got. And yes, its weird getting a salad at a bbq spot but let me tell you, they just do salads different so it makes sense!! And although we were full from our apps and meals, we had to try their famous cobbler of the day which was cherry!! It comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and that was just the "cherry" on the top for the most amazing lunch at Puckett's. When we left, we got a review card which our server Douglas wrote his name on it with a scripture book John 16:33 to look up (which I did): I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world". How awesome... to get a promise of peace and call for courage. Came here for breakfast and for dinner while in town. Firstly, as someone who got a crap ton of bbq while I was in town I'd say pass on this place for bbq. I got better elsewhere. Part of it was how dry everything was which was disappointing. With that said, service was tremendous. Special shout out to Kacey who served us one of the days. Really went out of her way to ensure we were having a good experience. She was just as gentle with the kids in our party as she was with the eldest one of our group. Honestly she's the only reason why I made this a 3 star versus a 2 star. That's because although each plate was massive everything was kinda lackluster. With that said, very much a family place which was nice and which is the reason we went there two times during our trip. We walked here from our hotel so I can't comment on the parking. read more

One of the first stops for our Nashville visit and we were definitely happy! The staff was welcoming, especially our server who provided recommendations on what meals to order. She regularly checked on us and made sure our waters stayed full. I particularly recommend getting an order of the Nashville hot chicken bites (they had a great kick), the music city hot chicken sandwich, and/or the piggy Mac. Honestly everyone was sharing a bite of what they got cause it was all delicious! I will say the side of mac n cheese is large. You could probably share between 2 to 3 people. We also were surprised at the small size of the fried shrimp basket. More fries than shrimp. We actually visited before they had live music scheduled. There was a singer playing a guitar and the place was buzzing. The menu had a wide verity. I ended up ordering the Smoked brisket Crusted Hamburger Steak w/ Side of sweet potato fries + Rutherford Cali wine. The wine was "House Cab" but I highly recommend it. The steak burger + pickled onions + sweet potato fries was tasty and lovely compliment. Rich and juicy and combined with the wine was lovely. The reviews I read were all good and being from out of town and needing to eat before going to the Ryman for a concert, this place fit the bill. Tried Puckett's in downtown Nashville because it was a location on a friend's Yelp list. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the live music added to the charm. I wanted to try all of the Southern staples, especially the pulled pork and mac & cheese. The ribs, pulled pork, fried fish, johnny cake and grits were delicious and filling. The only issue was the macaroni and cheese. It had a box mix taste and the breadcrumbs on top felt like an afterthought instead of something that was intentionally baked on. Another great thing that really stood out were the whiskey and bourbon flights. We had a great selection, and it was a fun way to sample a few different pours without breaking the bank. The staff was super friendly, and the service was quick even though it was busy. It felt like a true Nashville experience, with good food, good vibes, and a laid-back crowd. It was a Saturday so didn't expect much but made reservation for 830, band started at 830. Very crowded place, with volume way too high for a band in such a small place. The Gwynn Sisters sang, they were lovely. Ordered a beer, never got it. Got fried green tomatoes that were panko-breaded, overly crunchy & too much breading. We pulled off one side & left a full plate of coating. They were just ok. Okra was like pre-made frozen type. Meh. Brisket sandwich was ok, but only about 1.5 oz of meat - 2 dinky pieces about 2" wide & 1/4" thick, 1/4 of one was pure fat. Love bbq sauces here. Really enjoyed our stop at Puckett's. The Bloody Mary was honestly one of the best deals we've had so far in Nashville. I was downtown for an interview and after I was hungry. My Mom met me there and I ordered the cheeseburger. It was fantastic, the brioche bun was what made it even better. Paired it with fries. We just finished a tour of downtown Nashville and asked the tour company what would they recommend for barbeque. They suggested we try a local chain called Puckett's. We like to try places that are not a national chain when we travel because we know we can dine at those places any time. So we made the exception for a local chain. While we were in Nashville, we were told that there is no "Nashville BBQ" but there was Memphis bbq. I ordered the Brisket Platter with regular fries (they let me substitute the sweet potato fries). The platter came with baked beans and cole slaw. The portion size was generous and I ate enough that I didn't need dinner that evening. The brisket was fantastic. It was so soft and tender. He ordered the pulled pork platter with sweet potato fries, baked beans and cole slaw. The pulled pork was also well done with great flavor. my wife came here years ago and wanted to come again. we made reservations for 7:30 but we got there at 7:15 and there was still about a 20-30 minute wait. the restaurant was packed, despite it being a weekday. there were also others with reservations waiting a long time too. the host did seem annoyed at the fact that the front was so crowded. as we were waiting we thought to go to the bar for a drink and two seats were open and ready so we just decided to eat there. we ordered the fried green beans and the mac and cheese with pulled pork. the fried beans were delicious. crispy and well seasoned. i could've finished the whole basket! the mac and cheese was good but i wasn't a big fan of the pulled pork. the flap jacks were okay but one was burnt on one of the sides. overall, my experience here wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. the live music was nice too. it was a super packed restaurant and i don't think they had enough staff. i still recommend coming here if you're wanting a quick bite but i don't think it's worth going out of your way for. read more

Andrea was absolutely amazing - fast, friendly, great service! For a place that also says grocery on the outside of the building, I wasn't sure what to expect. They have some fun grocery throwbacks (when did they stop selling whipping cream at 75c a quart??), mostly just decor. Live music stage, so be prepared for downtown Nashville vibes, especially at night. There weren't that many people when we first arrived, and then 30 minutes in, the place was packed. Very standard drink options (coffee, juice, water), but they definitely lean into their southern roots for the food. Feels like almost every place in Nashville honors Elvis one way or another, and they do too with their King's Toast - fluffy French toast, banana slices, peanut butter. Or you can dip your toe into the hot chicken realm and enjoy a biscuit with fried chicken and hot honey! read more
