They were not what I was expecting but they were good. They are more like a crab hush puppy. The Alabama white sauce that came with set the beignet off!! The grits...the grits (chefs kiss). We opted to have a birthday dinner here for one of my good friends 40th birthday. We started with the fish dip and brussels sprouts. The brussels sprouts were delicious and had a great flavor. The fish dip looks OK for me. Didn't really have that smokiness that you look for with a fish dip. I personally really liked the pork rinds that came with it by themselves, but they didn't taste good with the fish dip. For our entrées, we opted for the double cut, pork chop, the duck, and some oysters. I personally didn't care for oysters, Rockefeller. The greens that were served inside of it didn't taste like they were cleaned properly or cooked enough. Usually look for that creamy smooth tea with oysters, Rockefeller and it just didn't get that. However, the andouille sausage oysters were delicious and I ordered three more! The double cut pork chop was very tender and almost hand a ham like consistency. Not my favorite. The peaches on top were yummy and cooked perfectly. The duck was my favorite dish surprisingly. Came here for dinner and had the caesar salad with salmon (you can order proteins with their salads even though it doesn't state that on the menu), as well as some pinot grigio. Had reservations for Valentine's Day and got in for brunch since they were booked for dinner. They had valet parking so that was nice. We didn't have to try to find a parking. We got in and got seated right away. They were super packed, which was expected being Vday. For a weekend brunch, they had their brunch buffet going on so we decided to try that. They had a couple of different items on there like charcuterie, cold snow crab legs, different kind of shrimps, grilled oysters and raw oysters, and a few more items. The buffet was about $52/ person for the unlimited all you can eat. You also have different options where you can do a different price for one trip to the buffet, or you can get an entree plus one trip to the buffet for a different price, as well. I don't eat much so I should've just did one trip. I really doubt I even ate $52 worth of food. Most of the items on the buffet were cold items. My favorite thing here were the biscuits they brought out to the table. The biscuits were made perfectly. They also had a strawberry dip for their chocolate biscuits. I loved both kinds of biscuits. It wasn't too long but long enough for the last order of Branzino to be ordered up. Karen had to come back and break the bad news. That stung. I finally made a choice and now that wasn't available and I had to start over. She could tell I was annoyed but it wasn't her fault. There were recommendations of other items and it wasn't sitting well. The manager visited and offered one of the seafood stew for the table and apologized. Offered a comped dessert at the end and I promised I was going to pick something else and not leave hungry. The recovery was absolutely perfect. It was not their fault they ran out of my choice. I only wish I was a bit quicker to decide. I ended up with a charcuterie board and side of fries. My husband had the twice baked potato and house salad. We shared a favorite varietal of Furmint in front of the crackling fire on the patio. Everything on the table was exceptional. They comped our sides (fries and potato) as an apology. We left happy. If I could give Urban Grub all the stars I would. I love it so much. My friends had never been so of course I had to remedy that. We used the free valet service because who has time to fight that 12 South traffic for a parking spot? We were shown to an awesome table with a view of the kitchen. The cinnamon roll is huge and filled with high quality cinnamon. The center was gooey and sweet. Both were 10/10. For entrees, had a variety. My husband ordered a burger and fries. My friends had the Ruben, egg white omelette, and the roasted chicken. Let me tell you about this chicken! It looked amazing. Perfectly done and fall off the bone tender. It was a huge serving. I always do one pass at the seafood and charcuterie bar. Everything on it is fresh and delicious, except the wedge salad. It has egg salad on it and I hate eggs and mayo. This was our third trip to urbanGrub. That says a lot, because we clearly enjoyed our two previous trips. Our two previous trips were for brunch, but we were in Nashville to see a show so I decided to try an early dinner. One of the reasons we go to urbanGrub it's because we usually travel with our baby, martini, and urbanGrub has a pet friendly patio. Actually, I would go way beyond saying 'friendly', and I would say extremely welcoming, as the staff always gives martini a lot of attention and usually brings her their homemade peanut butter dog treats. We were going to be coming out a weird time, so I tried to make online reservations. Since their system wouldn't allow me to do that online, I called and spoke to a very friendly host. She assured me that there would be no problem getting a seat on the patio since the restaurant was not normally busy between 2 to 4:30. She apparently had not been informed about the private party that had reserved the entire back patio for a private birthday party. So, when we got there, we were greeted by 3 incredibly unhelpful and unemphatic male hosts. They had some back-and-forth conversation between each other about the situation before another male host came up (presumably, the one in charge since he was the only one not wearing black). He did not bother to greet us or speak to us personally (or even look at us), but instead told one of the other hosts to take us out to the patio and see if the bartenders would agree to serve us. We followed that host to the back patio, where he promptly turned around and left without speaking into the bartender on our behalf. We approached the bar, and the bartender told us that she was unable to help us because of the private party starting in half an hour. As a result, my husband, Martin and I stood there awkwardly trying to decide what we were going to do and where we were going to go since. Then, a woman walked up to us, as she must've overheard everything that was happening, and she said that she could get us the table by opening their front patio, which we did not know existed. She took us back Back up front to the house station and asked us to wait while she got the patio open for us. She was absolutely wonderful. She even brought us some of the homemade peanut butter dog treats. Although this was clearly a rocky start, we had an absolutely wonderful dining experience. Our server was a ton of an efficient, the food was terrific, and we enjoyed our tasty cocktails. So, The host experience was subpar at best, but the evening was marvelous. Sometimes I don't feel like enough credit emphasis is put on the host staff. They are the first face you see when you walk in and basically represent the restaurant. Sometimes, the host alone can make it break the evening their demeanor definitely has weight on the diner's attitude even before a server can greet the table & no morsel of food has been eaten. We will definitely be back, because we love, urban Grubb, but I hope we never have the misfortune to deal with the whole staff that were there last night again. read more

Our server, Kendra, truly made the night--she was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. We ordered drinks, raw oysters, and the seafood board, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. That said, the first impression wasn't the best. While checking in at the host stand, the manager (Blake) was loudly scolding employees in front of guests, which felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. Once seated, everything improved and the meal itself was excellent, but that initial moment definitely stood out. This restaurant is quite possibly my favorite in Nashville. The ambiance is wonderful and we love sitting on the back patio when Scotty is bartending. Scotty is an OG bartender and huge Preds fan, so he can give you recommendations if you've got questions. As far as food, the shrimp and grits, add andouille sausage, is my favorite. Their grits are creamy and cheesy and paired with their homemade biscuits/pop overs, is undeniably Nashville superior. Their pork chop w a side of mac&cheese is delicious too. You can make your own charcuterie board as a prequel to the main entree. They have a new menu nightly too. They are closed on Monday's and open around 4:30 each afternoon. Brunch with my daughter and her gal pal was on docket for my visit to Nashville. Parking can be an issue but valet parking is available - it's worth a tip for the service. We started with the shareable cinnamon roll and coffee. Both were delicious. I indulged in their all you can eat option: a salad plate with a composed salad, egg salad, potato salad, and a shrimp option. Everything in the salad section was fresh and tasty. The seafood options: oysters were fresh but were not loosened from the muscle so not a seamless journey to my mouth. The cold shrimp were fantastic and I had some on every subsequent plate except the last - the staff manning the station did not replenish them. The crab legs were cooked well but no melted butter. The cooked shrimp, grits, and sausage were flavorful and the grits stayed creamy. There were also some charcuterie options. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The girls however, did not. They both ordered the pastrami hash and both were put off by the sweetness. Totally unexpected and I guess unpleasant because they both left the dish uneaten and did not want to take it home. I like how Urban Grub offers some mocktails...I think it had Lyre's Italian orange. It was light, refreshing, and simply beautiful. They have these "popovers," which they offer to gluten free eaters. They were very airy, and the butter, and strawberry preserves were a nice touch. For my order, I had the scallops. They were on a sweet corn purée, and had some type of pea salad on the side. I didn't like the pea salad. The scallops were served in shells, which was a nice touch. We shared the Yukon gold mashed potatoes and roasted maple butter carrots. I love a Yukon gold! And those carrots were in a cast iron pan - yummy!! We had the sweet sins espresso dessert, and strawberry outlaw. The sweet sins dessert was large enough to share, but I'm glad I tried the strawberry outlaw. The sweet sins was a flourless chocolate cake, had caramel ganache, espresso mousse, and was simply divine. The strawberry outlaw was a goat cheese cheesecake on a lemon curd and gluten free pretzel crumbs with a balsamic glaze. It sounds crazy, but the flavors melded together beautifully. This is our second visit and just as last timed it, did not disappoint. The food was amazing. The service was outstanding. The atmosphere is both fancy and smancy...it's nice. It's really nice. The double cut pork chop with the peaches is cooked to perfection. The steak & biscuits is delicious, with tender filet and delicious gravy. The French fries are...well, they're fries. Thank goodness this was open late night. After seeing a show at the Grand Ole Opry, my husband and I were starving as we didn't eat beforehand. We were grateful that Urban Grub was open. Because it was late night, we ordered off a special menu. We ordered a Cesar salad to share, zucchini and cheese appetizer, and I had a steak and chips dish. The Cesar was pretty typical; no complaints. I liked the zucchini and cheese dish. The zucchini was cooked well and I was surprised how well it paired with the cheese. The steak was good and cooked to my liking. I was disappointed with the portion size as it was pretty small with how much they charged for it. The restaurant is beautiful. If I could give Urban Grub six stars on Yelp, I would. I've been to this incredible establishment three times in the last year - most recently for my wedding anniversary - and each experience was more memorable than the last. From the rockstar service to the creative menu - this place is worth all of the hype. We made a reservation about a week in advance for a Tuesday night, and I would definitely recommend doing so, even on weeknights. I always forget that they have complimentary valet - we usually just find street parking somewhere nearby in the neighborhood. We were seated right away, and our server Drew made our anniversary celebration extra special with such thoughtful service. I don't think there's a bad seat in the restaurant, but we were lucky to sit beside one of the indoor fireplaces, making our meal feel that much more romantic. We kicked things off with a selection of oysters and an order of peel and eat shrimp. If you like seafood but sometimes worry about living in a landlocked state - Urban Grub has their seafood flown in fresh daily. Their cocktail sauce in particular is one of my favorites - perfectly sweet and tangy. Their biscuits, popovers, and jam are included with every meal - and they're truly a work of art. Nothing says "Southern-inspired steakhouse" like complimentary biscuits and a berry jam that's truly out of bounds. I'm not the biggest fan of popovers normally - but Urban Grub is one of the few places that I'll eat them. We also shared their take on a Wedge Salad, which was bright and full of unique flavor. (Although heads-up that if you're not a fan of egg salad, this may not be the salad for you). Urban Grub is known for its dry-aged steak program, and you should always check out their evening steak specials. We decided to splurge and split their dry-aged porterhouse, along with the butter trio and a twice-baked potato. While there are more budget-friendly options here - sometimes it's fun to celebrate with a big steak, and you're getting your money's worth at Urban Grub. We enjoyed every bite - and had plenty to take home for leftovers. For dessert, we took the Banana Pudding Pie to-go, but ended up having a few bites in the restaurant. Gosh this place is so good but be prepared to pay for it! This is our favorite special date night spot when we have something to celebrate. We recently ate here for our 7th anniversary. I got a gin cocktail which was delicious and my husband was able to get an old fashioned with special bourbon off their extensive liquor menu. We got the crab beignets, red snapper (off the specials menu), southern steak Chimichurri, and the cheesecake. Everything is always delicious and definitely worth the prices. It was dark in the restaurant and right around 4:30 they dimmed all of the lights giving it a more intimate feel. We walked in the wrong door so definitely go to the one on the right. The server was great and offered plenty of options but my silverware was dirty but I could luckily reach behind me to replace it. His steak frites were nasty. The fries were hardly cooked and the meat was tough. The chimi sauce was not good either. It was a waste of money. The salmon was cooked well but the flavors were just weird. In my personal opinion the beets don't belong with salmon but it was a good effort. The andouille wasn't very flavorful tho the char was good. **November 5, 2024** I dined at Urban Grub around 9 PM, and I was pleased to find a decent restaurant open late for dining. There was ample parking available on-site, and valet service was an option as well. I was seated quickly, which was a plus. For appetizers, I ordered oysters, crab cakes, and Brussels sprouts. The oysters were fresh and briny, with a clean, crisp flavor that was enhanced by a squeeze of lemon. The crab cakes were delightful--perfectly crispy on the outside, with a generous amount of lump crab meat that was both sweet and flavorful. The Brussels sprouts were cooked to perfection, with a nice caramelization that brought out their natural sweetness. For my main course, I chose the seared trout. It was beautifully cooked. The fish had a rich, buttery flavor that paired well with the light seasoning and a side of seasonal vegetables. Overall, I enjoyed the food immensely. The server was very attentive at first but became less present towards the end of the meal, which was a bit disappointing. If you're heading to Nashville and looking for a restaurant that checks every box, Urban Grub needs to be on your list. We recently dined here and I honestly can't stop thinking about the entire experience--from the atmosphere to the last bite. First off, the interior is stunning. It's got this casual comfort to it, but still manages to feel upscale and special. You walk in and instantly get the sense that you're in for a treat. The vibe is relaxed, yet refined--perfect for a night out without feeling stuffy. As soon as we sat down, we were greeted with mini popovers, which were warm, fluffy, and the perfect start. But things only got better from there. The wood fired oysters were incredible, and if you're a fan of oysters in general, you have to try the Oysters Rockefeller and the Oysters Andouille Gouda Prosecco. Both were absolutely on point--creamy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Now, the Shrimp & Grits? Hands down some of the best I've ever had. The shrimp were jumbo, plump, and juicy, and the grits were creamy and full of flavor. It's one of those dishes where you try to slow down just so it doesn't end too quickly. I also tried the Springer Mountain Farms rotisserie chicken, which was cooked to perfection--tender, juicy, and full of flavor. I was curious about their trio of sauces and decided to give them a go, and I'm so glad I did. Each one added a unique layer to the chicken dish and made an already delicious meal even better. Urban Grub really nails it. The food, the atmosphere, the service--everything works together so well. You can tell a lot of care goes into what they do. We had reservations but decided to eat early and sat at the oyster bar. Very accommodating but Melvin and George behind the bar and our waitress MaryBeth made it a fantastic experience!! Knowledgeable about the oysters and super friendly!! Next time, we'll just plan to sit at the oyster bar and hope Melvin is working!! read more

Went for a wedding dinner here and I was not disappointed! Each dish tasted incredible, as each dish was cooked to perfection with the perfect spices, and everyone at the table was pleased with the meal. My only small thing was the prices for the options, as each dish was much more than I'd expect, but I'd still advocate for Urban Grub for special occasions. The kind waiters and chefs, alongside a busy atmosphere was great to be a part of. read more
