I have to agree with the recent reviews--this place feels overpriced for what it offers. I was especially excited to try the clam chowder, but it ended up being pretty mediocre and not particularly memorable.

While exploring Quincy Market we stopped for a bite to eat at Boston Chowda. Naturally I had to try their New England Clam chowder. It was nice & rich with good chunks of chowder & potatoes. There were crispy fried onions on top. I skipped the bread bowl because honestly just wanted to enjoy the taste of the chowder. Well I gobbled it down pretty quick! So good! 2025-83

I tried the chowda and it was really flavorful. I'd definitely give them a visit next time in town.

Boston Chowda has a catchy name! I tried the clam chowda bowl, New England style, at the Faneuil Hall location. They also serve corn chowda. This is a walk up and order style location. Soups are available for viewing in pots within their glass case. The sourdough bread bowl was fantastic. I absolutely loved every bite. The soup within was just ok, tbh. The servers were friendly and fun. Being that this is a touristy location, that is important. It's worth a try. I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture of my soup bowl. Next time!

While exploring Quincy Market, we decided to stop by the Boston Chowda stand. I ordered their New England Clam Chowder. It was delicious and rich. Not the best I've ever had, but I did enjoy it and I would recommend it!

Overpriced tourist trap with decent New England clam chowder, lobster butter roll with a coke close $50.00 & asking for tip. I do understand the inflation, but this is extreme. For a experience but never again

Saw this place on YouTube in quincy market. A roll of eateries, you will find this place. Got the chowda and lobster butter roll. Chowda was more like soup. It was flavorful but would like it thicker. Lobster butter roll. Sadly to say, it wasn't the hype I thought it would be. Grilled roll with buttered lobster. Pros: Nice big piece of lobster in the roll and a lot of clams in the chowda. Cons: I liked the big pieces of lobster but the butter made the roll soggy. Would like the chowda thicker. Would I got back? Maybe not.

Lobster special comes with clam chowder. Disappointing, lack of flavor

Got the lobster special which was the hot buttered lobster roll and clam chowder. The lobster roll itself was around $42, and for that price it was quite disappointing. Not much flavor, if any, and tasted a bit old Clam chowder was pretty good, but it's a small cup Overall not worth the price

Pricy but good. Total was $61.39 for one combo, with an extra pop + tip. We at the Boston Chowda Company located in Faneuil Hall Market place. It was packed inside and there was a line to get food but they keep you moving. Service was friendly and the this location is set up booth style in the market/hall. We had this on our list of things to try in Boston. We split the combo, which had their Award Winning New England Clam Chowder and a hot Maine Lobster Roll. It was good and dining in Faneuil Hall market place was an experience in itself.

Great quality; very generous on the lobster! Worth every penny. They offer a combo with the lobster roll and chowder, which is a great deal.

Look. If you really really want to check this place out because Boston marketplace was on your bucket list - you're free to do so. However, I was not a fan of eating from a paper plate in half dark cold market with a ton of people pushing you for $46. Yes, That's how much a coke, a little bit of soup, and the lobster roll were. That's before tip btw. Was the lobster roll good? Yes. Was it worth it? Hell no, you can easily DIY this easy dish at home for a quarter of the price. At least it wasn't old or anything, so 2 stars

Clam chowder bread bowl (7/10, $12.98)
Jonathan K.

Friday afternoon, this place is super busy. Throughout the entire hall, you'll have people hollering at you to get your business, which is pretty fun. Clam chowder bread bowl (7/10, $12.98) - Boston Chowda seem to have the cheapest Ram chowder in the entire hall at $12.98. The bread bowl also seem to be the largest in the hall, so overall win-win! - They offer a side of fried onions and oyster crackers, which adds a nice crisp. - However, like most bread bowls, it feels as you're eating that it's mostly bread, and a little less chowder. Make sure to eat a lot of the bread as you're eating the chowder or else it will just be bread left lol - Overall pretty good, probably not the best New England chowder that you'll ever get. Definitely a good place to stop if you're not trying to spend $30+ on clam chowder at some sitdown restaurant

My local supermarket Publix in Palm Beach County has stocked your gumbo. It is so good! Keep it coming!

Ask the Community - Boston Chowda

Hi, is the chowdah gluten free?

As far as I know, there are potato and cream inside of this soup. Also, they give you oyster crackers to put on it. So I think, we can't say it's 100% gluten-free.

Do they deliver?

I'm not sure if the actual establishment delivers but I've gotten it delivered through UberEats before. Hope that helps!

The hostess said th were no availability at the tables we could sit at the bar. We went to sit at the bar, and this party of 5 came over, and they tried everything to move us from the bar, by there actions and there level of disrespect, and it was excepted. I got up from the bar, and I went to the manager, who said his name was Jack. He seemed like he cared, but for us. I felt we was judged from the door. We were a minority couple, maybe that was not what they wanted to see I'm not sure. The money was not the issue, it was the principal. It was not about a 25 dollar discount, on a over 200 bill. Food came out in a timely manner, no confusion, no chaos. They were friendly, attentive, and actually knew the menu, offering solid recommendations without overcomplicating it. Managing a group that size is not easy, and they made it look smooth. AMBIANCE: This place leans more Boston bar energy than traditional fine dining, and that is part of the charm. It was packed, a little tight at times, but it felt alive. You are not coming here for quiet elegance, you are coming for the buzz, the movement, and that shared experience of a packed room enjoying great food together. FOOD: We went all in and ordered family-style, almost tapas style, sharing everything across the table. Squid ink pasta, black pasta, fried calamari, grilled octopus, dish after dish hitting the table. Everything was delicious, but what really stood out was the sauce. The broths, the richness, the depth of flavor, that is what stayed with me. I found myself talking about it mid-meal, and I was not the only one. At one point, people were practically trying to drink the sauce straight from the plate. That is when you know it is hitting on another level. You know you're doing a good job when you put much thought down to how you make your sauces and broths. I was impressed from both a top down and bottom up level of culinary experience. IMPRESSIONS: I need to come back here to on more sauces and broths.

Turns out, it's about what you can expect from this type of chain: good service, very pleasant ambiance...and thoroughly mediocre, overpriced food. Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of it came directly from Sysco. Previously I had tried the "Legal Seafoods Clam Chowder" sold at Costco, and found it to be very so-so compared to the "Captain Parker's" version sold at Market Basket. I was hoping the in-restaurant version would be much better. Wrong. Probably the most appalling thing about the food here were the fries, which come with most of the dishes unless you specifically ask for a substitute. I was glad that I did, because when I tasted my friend's fries, they were just about the most dry, bland, doughy-like frozen fries you could imagine. Only thing you can do with fries like that is to oversalt the bejesus out of them, and drown them in ketchup. Best thing we (party of 4) had was the Steak Salad---but when the menu says "petit sirloin" you dang better believe they MEAN "petit," lol ... it was about 3-4 mouthfuls tops! Really more of an appetizer worth $15 at most, not the $28 normal entree pricing. Fish and chips were particularly dismal---the fish was tasteless, most likely frozen just like the horrible fries. I've had better fish and chips from humble diner type places like Mike's Roast Beef in Everett, for Chrissakes. Hell, even Friendly's Fish and Chips doesn't seem that bad in comparison, lol. Swordfish and trout were somewhat less bad, but also suffered from the avalanche of cardboard fries. Anyways, now I know: I wasn't missing anything all these years.

Stephanie and Anna completely exceeded every expectation. From the moment I sat at the bar, they were warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. But what really stood out wasn't just the food -- it was the experience. They introduced me to other patrons, sparked great conversations, and created that rare feeling of genuine connection. Finding that kind of warmth and community while traveling for work isn't always easy, and it absolutely deserves to be recognized. I've now been three times. I typically rotate hotels when I'm in Boston just to try new places, but because of the consistently high-quality service -- not just at the hotel, but especially at the restaurant and bar -- I'll be prioritizing staying here moving forward.
