I stopped by here during my trip to Boston, and I have to say that the food here changed my life. We ordered the butter lobster roll, calamari, oysters, and both soft serve options. The lobster roll was absolutely amazing and warm, served with the softest bao bun; not traditional, but delicious. The oysters were extremely fresh, and you could taste it. The calamari was good, but I felt that the dipping sauce tasted like a sweet chili sauce. Service here was great; I came during lunch, and the server provided water refills when needed, and brought everything out in a timely manner. The restaurant is right next to Fenway, so I don't know if it gets crowded when there's a game. But when I came, there was no game, and it was a very chill vibe for a nice hangout and catch up. read more

Great experience dining at Eventide-Fenway today for lunch. Our waiter, Harry was exceptional and truly went above and beyond, handling our large party of 10 with warmth, professionalism and ease. We had a celebratory family lunch at Eventide today. The restaurant was clean, open, had a nice ambiance. We were greeted warm upon arrival by our waiter Harry, and there was no issue with 3 sections of our group arriving at slightly different times. Harry brought food and drink menus and brought drinks- once two members of our party tried the peach tumeric iced tea- Harry was asked to fetch 3 more! The menu had variety with something for everyone. Half of the table enjoyed oysters to start- we were delighted to see Joly oysters on the menu from my parent's neighbors in Dennis (Cape Cod). We also shared two orders of the salmon tartar crispy rice appetizer- my mom and my favorite savory component of the meal! I really enjoyed my fish sandwich- well prepared, great ratio of pickles and slaw to fish and bun. The rest of the party ordered the famous brown butter lobster buns, more fish sandwiches, a burger and two orders of their spicy scallop ramen. 3 sides of fries ($4) were more than enough for everyone to share, the fries were crispy, well seasoned and a generous portion. Another highlight of the meal was for the person we were celebrating, our divine waiter Harry brought 3 soft serves- two Brown Butter Soft Serve · $8 (Maple Candied Pecans, Bourbon Caramel) and one Brown Sugar Chocolate Soft Serve · $8 (Peanut Tahini, Ritz-Style Crackers) We were brought bowls and spoons for everyone to taste. The soft serve was AMAZING. Healthy debate over which flavor was better- I was very partial to the chocolate soft serve with peanut tahini, my mom preferred the maple candied pecan bourbon caramel. I really really like Eventide. We were at their Portland ME location a few years ago and the Fenway location continues the same quality. Although some might criticize the small size of the lobster rolls they are really crest and good. The clam chowder is not as thick as a lot of chowders but i like a thinner chowder. Eventide The building is clean and has a pretty, modern interior. Customer service was fine nothing particularly warm, but not rude either, just neutral. We came on a Friday around 5 p.m., and the restaurant was surprisingly empty with only two other tables occupied. We didn't have a reservation but were seated quickly. However, booths are only available if you have a prior reservation. I ordered the lobster stew ($23), which was very small about 8 ounces. Flavor-wise, it was good: lots of mushrooms, a few large chunks of lobster, and a taste closer to coconut curry rather than tomato. It's not creamy, which I didn't mind, but the portion felt extremely small for the price. I'd estimate there was about one ounce (or less) of lobster. We also tried the clam chowder ($17 for 8 ounces). This was very liquid and not creamy at all, tasting mostly like potatoes which there were plenty of. We found only one whole clam; I expected diced clams, so that was disappointing. One thing that really stood out was the automatic 5% charge added to the bill, regardless of group size or order amount. The receipt states this goes toward adjusting kitchen staff wages. On top of that, you're still expected to tip your server, which is fine but combined with the extra charge, it didn't feel justified given the portion sizes and overall experience. Paying $23 for essentially lobster broth doesn't make the added fee feel reasonable. Lastly, parking is not easy to find near this location. read more

Super casual restaurant, it's not very big so I assume it will get busy during peak hours. I went for an early dinner around 5 so there were only a few people in there. I sat by the counter and got a pumpkin beer, it was rimmed with cinnamon, so good! I started with some oysters, they had a lot to pick from so I asked for the waitress recommendation, happy hour you basically get double the oysters! Comes with two toppings. For entree I go the lobster roll (it's not big but the flavors are amazing, bread is nice and soft. Loved it!). While exploring Boston, we decided to stop at Eventide - Fenway for lunch. It is located in downtown Boston next to Fenway Park! This area reminds me a lot of San Francisco minus the homeless people and weird smells. We were greeted and seated right away and I liked how open the inside was with lots of natural lighting. We decided to split the Eventide Brown Butter Lobster Roll, Calamari and an order of Fries. We also ordered some drinks including the Oyster Shooters - Bloody Mary with Tequila. We really enjoyed our drinks and the Calamari and Fries (some of the best we had during this trip) - the Lobster Roll was actually better without the bread which I thought was weird, but it took away from the taste of the actual lobster. Overall, staff were friendly and attentive. The food was not the best we had in Boston, but it worked for a quick bite while we were sightseeing. Spectacular food, though not spectacular prices. We were lucky to stay nearby and our group couldn't decide on what to eat for lunch so I took full advantage of the opportunity to pitch Eventide's lobster rolls. And it damn worked. We all loved the food here. The raw oysters were so fresh and succulent that we decided to do another round. Our server, Chase, was very knowledgeable about the notes of most of the oysters and didn't pretend to know anything he wasn't sure of and called his manager for clarity, which was very much appreciated. I had the Eventide Brown Butter Lobster Roll, which, admittedly, I was surprised by its small size, but it ended up being just right. The lobster chunks were scrumptious and fresh, but $22 price tag was definitely very steep for a small roll that didn't come with a side. The value equation is the only reason I took a star away. I had the Roasted Banana Serve too, which was delicious ice cream and reminded me a lot of nice cream. Came here as a group of five for dinner on a weekday and we were very quickly seated without a reservation. The restaurant space has plenty of seating and I was honestly expecting it to be more crowded than it was. Service was very attentive and welcoming! I shared that I had a gluten allergy and needed to avoid cross-contamination and I felt reassured that this restaurant was familiar with taking the appropriate safety precautions. I arrived already knowing what I was going to order after hearing so much about Eventide's famous lobster roll. I definitely don't regret ordering it, but the portion was truly so much smaller than I expected, even though I already had lowered my expectations given the price ($22), which is definitely on the lower end of the spectrum for lobster rolls... I enjoyed the taste of the lobster roll and I also appreciated how it was presented completely separately on a different plate, given my allergy. This was the first time that I had a lobster roll where there texture of the bun truly reminded me of a Chinese "mantou" or steamed bun. It was very light, fluffy yet chewy, and surprisingly held its shape under the lobster. However, the picture that I took definitely makes the roll look bigger than it actually was, so just take this as your written warning lol. If you end up going for the lobster roll, which I do think is worth trying at least once, I'd recommend ordering another small entree or appetizer as a supplement! My friends also tried some of their other sandwiches (hot chicken bun and their fried chicken katsu sandwich), which they all said were pretty tasty. I had THE worst fish & chips of my life: the fish consisted of one LOG (NOT a filet) of scrod featuring a thick coating of flavorless breading and the potato wedges probably have potential but were fried in fishy-smelling oil that seemed ripe to be changed. Saving grace was the side order of cole slaw, light mayo sauce with celery seeds. French fries at my table were INconsistent - some orders had long, nicely herbed full fries, but others were composed of short, crusty bits of fries from the bottom of the fryer basket - which should NEVER be brought to a customer's table! The main reason to go here is the oysters. Best oysters, hands down, these are absolutely worth it. The tuna crudo is wonderful, the brown butter lobster roll is a must have (it's small, which is why it's half the price of what you'll find elsewhere). The new clam chowder is experimental and a miss. The cocktails are varied and also experimental - some work, some don't, but that's down to personal taste.
