Fresh delicious bread

Almost let the outside of the place chase is away..... boy would that have been a big mistake. As soon as you walk in, there is a bar. The bar was filled with locals however, most were friendly and said hello as we walked past. The seating area is small, but quaint. You felt like you were at your old uncle Nino's house. The Wait staff were friendly and courteous, but more importantly, the food was fantastic. Coming from an Italian girl who makes her own sauce, their sauce was a work of art! My highly recommend that if you're in Amsterdam that you've popped in for a taste.

Boscos is my family's go to restaurant for calzones and eggplant parmesan. You can't go wrong! A true gem for Amsterdam NY! Whether it's for pick up or dine in, the food is always 5 stars. A++ The restaurant is what I consider, a pillar, of the Amsterdam community. They give you delicious food, excellent service, and humongous portions! If you're ever around the area, and you have only one option, get their pepperoni calzone with riccota cheese. You will absolutely love it. My father and I have eaten here countless times, and it's always been a pleasure. The restaurant may not look all that visually appealing, on the outside or the inside. But the people at Boscos, have their priorities straight. They focus on the quality of their food, and it's always amazing.

Great local restaurant, I am out here for business and like trying local places. Do not expect fancy dining. This is just good local/pizza/Italian food. The staff is attentive and work hard. I sat and the bar and ordered 'to go'. Talked with a few people while waiting. The bar and restaurant were busy and that is good to see.

I am back in NY hometown visiting and I wanted my first meal back to be at Boscos. My family and I order the Jalapeño poppers, mushroom poppers, and broccoli poppers as our appetizers. They were piping hot and delicious! For my meal I ordered one of their calzones which I am able to have two more meals out of due to their generous portion. The atmosphere in the dining area is family friendly which is a feeling that you get from the staff. If you are passing through Amsterdam I highly recommend that you stop have a meal!

Friendly staff and great little local spot for drinks and Italian bar food. We had a few of the calzones, they were good. The dough was light and fluffy and the insides loaded with cheese. We also had one stuffed with the Italian sausage which was great. Had a cheese pizza...and there was alot of cheese, almost too much. Thick rich sauce for dipping.

Food is solid and the beer was cold. But the time it took to have a meal and get the service was crazy. It was seriously ten minutes before we got a drink order. They said when we were being seated "to bear with them" a couple times and I didn't think anything of it until we seriously waited 45 mins for an order of mozz sticks and a salad as our apps. I will stress that the calzones were really good and I would go again but not a day that I have things to do.

So that happened…read more About to sit down for our second meal in two nights at The Nest/Schenectady (not the subject of this review). Why? Why would we drive 20 minutes in the rain and fog on St Patrick's and not eat at the lobby restaurant (this restaurant) where we were guests for two nights? Why walk out on our reservation? The reservation made with the front desk? Incompetence. Disrespect. Complete inability to remedy multiple screw ups. We were taken to our table with a cute little reserved placard on it. Unnecessary, but ok. There were three tables dining. Of dozens. As in the place was completely empty. Tables everywhere. Ours? Right next to the point-of-sale system against the bar. We asked to move. A dozen tables were available away from the bar. As it turns out, the significantly warmer side of the venue. Nope. The gentleman states that we can only sit on the kitchen entrance side close to the main door. In an empty restaurant. We sat there for about two minutes before it was clear we'd be cold from the main door draft and even more frustrated by the loud yelling in the kitchen. The ice crunching from the bartender was the only thing that made it comical. Seriously, within two minutes my neck was stiff from the cold at the second table. My wife's feet, in boots, we're getting chilled. I'd be furious if this wasn't a first world thing. It is a first world thing. But if you're looking for a nice dining experience in an empty restaurant and the staff wants to sit your reservation made, suite (just a bigger room) staying butt in front of the kitchen or POS system rather than accept that the guest isn't satisfied with the hospitality... As I said, we left. We won't be back. At least I got a nice text letting me know they canceled our reservation.

The menu was small (usually means they focus on doing less things well, rather than many things mediocre). Beer selection was decent. I ordered the "Hot Honey Chicken Tacos." Was I wrong to expect the chicken to be tossed in hot honey rather than hot honey just drizzled over the fried chicken tacos? I was disappointed when I got what was set in front of me. Also, you're going to give me a mess of hot honey all over these fried chicken tacos and not have wet wipes?? My hands were like little kid sticky afterwards. The other two in our party of 3 had sandwiches. One got fries with their meal. The other got tater tots. The sandwiches came out without the sides. The fries shortly afterwards, but like 10 minutes later the tater tots finally came out after we spoke to the very nice waitress. I guess I don't understand why we can't send out complete meals with any kind of coordination. All in all the atmosphere was good. The waitstaff was nice. The drinks were good. The food was ok but overall it wasn't mind blowing. Oh! And I'm so glad I didn't have to drive or find parking because that was a hot mess in an of itself. You should go try it. You might have a better experience. I guess I expected more.

Definitely worthy of a destination meal on that basis alone, although it's not exactly ADA-friendly (you'd have to come over a pedestrian walkway or the pedestrian bridge over the river). The main seating is either on a smattering of outside café tables or within one of those three-season zipper-up enclosures, which would cut down on the enjoyment of the location if the weather isn't that nice. The American-style walk-up menu is limited, but was adequate. One does wish they had a few more ice cream options, but the basic ballpark fare is fine. The attached bathrooms at the end are pretty horrible; not sure if the restaurant management is actually responsible for them, but you are warned.

For context, I rate products and businesses on a simple scale: 5 stars means I love it, 4 stars…read moremeans I like it, 3 stars is okay, 2 stars means I didn't like it, and 1 star means I hated it or think it's unsafe. 5 stars. I've been coming to Raindancer for years and I honestly can't remember ever having a bad meal here. It's one of those dependable restaurants where you know you're going to leave happy. Back before COVID they had a legendary salad bar and I REALLY wish they would bring it back. I'm not even a huge salad person and I still looked forward to it every time I came here. It was fresh, loaded with options, and honestly one of the best restaurant salad bars around. Raindancer, if you're reading this, bring back the salad bar!!! The ribs here are excellent. Always tender, flavorful, and they give you a very good sized portion. I've brought several friends here over the years and everyone has always enjoyed their meals. The restaurant has a nice rustic feel to it that fits the atmosphere perfectly. The food is consistently great and the staff has always been friendly and attentive whenever I've visited. Small negative is there are no free refills on soft drinks. I believe it's always been the case here atleast as far back as I can recall. For me it should be a big deal because I live sodas it's an integral part of my dinner. But yet i like it here a lot so I forgive it. That says something. Keeping my soda filled is one was I rate servers. If they do it without me asking they are ontop of their game to me. But Ike I said that's not applicable here. Just keep it in mind. But for me, the crown jewel here is the chocolate mousse pie. It is fantastic. Light, fluffy, rich without being too heavy, topped with whipped cream and little chocolate morsels. It's absolute heaven. They also have a peanut butter mousse pie that I keep telling myself I'm going to try someday, but every time I come here I can't bring myself to pass on the chocolate mousse pie. Maybe one day... although probably not. It's just too good. They have a take out window. Sometimes if I'm in the area I quickly pick some up for desert. It's so worth it.

It does look like they may have tried to spruce it up at some point but not well. Prices are up there, and the food inconsistent. I had the French onion soup and it was delicious, I followed that with the copped chicken salad and it was awful. Cold pre frozen chicken and absolutely no taste whatsoever to the salad base. Even slapping on salad dressing didn't help. We also ordered the prime rib, now this dish came out perfectly, hot and just as described. It had great flavor. The drinks, soda and ice tea were a ridiculous price, nearly $4 each with no refills. All in all a disappointing meal for almost $100 and nope, no return visit, I believe they are just resting in their laurels of past days.
