Haven't been here since they changed ownership. I was disappointed that they no longer offer the eggplant sub. It would be great if they added that back to their menu. I ordered the meatless grinder and it was excellent. Our waitress was fantastic. My only real complaint was that the restaurant was freezing. I don't understand why they didn't have the heat going. Best burger I've had in a long time! Stopped here on a whim on a road trip - it's just 5 minutes off of route 90. So much better than a highway rest stop! Traveling back East for business and my co-worker and I were looking for a good spot off the toll road..... Shorty's is that spot! What a find! The menu was all over the place and that's what made it awesome! The waitress shared that they try to do everything in house, including their meets! I ordered the "jersey shore" and it was a winner! Plus it looked as outlandish as I had hoped with the cheeses, hot beef, and sautéed onions and mushrooms oozing over the sides of the bread. Plus the french fries were super good as well! My co-worker got the sausage patty that is ground in-house and I know he liked it because he didn't say a word once it arrived and it was gone before I knew it. Haha. I'm giving this place 4 stars because the food is very good. It's a little ole bar/ restaurant in the Southside of Amsterdam. Inside there is a bar to the right and tables in another room to the left. Nothing special, nothing extraordinary but the food most definitely is. We arrived on a Wednesday night and only a few people at the bar were present. We were greeted by the owner and he sat us at a table . It was chilly but it was cold out too and he informed us that the propane stove was not working . We decided to order drinks. I had a delicious blackberry rum punch and hubby had a draft Beer. We both had the crispy fried haddock dinners which came with soup or salad. Opted for the French onion soup which was delicious and warmed us right up. Gooey cheese melted over the top and baked. Omg! Heaven in a cup! Our dinners came out and the haddock was crisp, hot and delicious. Came over seasoned French fries, cocktail and tarter sauce and coleslaw. The coleslaw was chopped a little to fine for me but was good. We finished everything! We will definitely go back to try some more menu items. Went here a while back for dinner and although it was not busy, it took forever to have someone even acknowledge us. Then, when we were, we were told to wait a few minutes. We waited about 20 minutes and another couple came in behind us and were seated, knew the hostess or something because they chatted and were seated, and we were ignored. Great neighborhood bar/restaurant tucked between quiet old houses. The service is warm and friendly in a classic hometown environment that you can only find on the east coast. The locals at the bar are full of life and conversation. The French onion soup is perfect. The Reuben fritters are delish. The chicken tenders are exactly the way chicken tenders should be...crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. And the garlic Parmesan sauce is freaking amazing. The restaurant is in the middle of a quaint neighborhood and they welcomed us into the place like we had lived there all our lives! Took some other yelpers reviews for the grinders ( only served on certain days) and they were delicious! The kids had chicken tenders and they were hand battered perfectly! The meatball sandwich and the marinara was amazing! We were there on the days they weren't served but them made them for us anyway! Delicious!!! Highly recommended!!! I always tend to operate with a relative amount of skepticism when it comes to bars that serves food. But let me say living right across the street has opened my eyes to consuming a larger than normal amount of shorties food. I have ordered a copious amount of chicken wings and quite a few Long Island Ice-T's off of their menu and I have to say that there is not a single thing I've ordered from this establishment that I would not order again or a third time. Their chicken wings are by far the best chicken wings I've ever had. They're black and blue burger deserves the name of burger and my wife is quite fond of their wraps. I have not had the pleasure to go in to enjoy their establishment Due to the Corona virus and truth be told I don't plan on going in because living right across the street allows me to spend time with my family and enjoy their food. The only complaint I have about this place is that they do not serve pizza. But then again I think that is for the best. I would encourage anyone with a car and a $20 bill to go to shorties. They are a staple in the community and have every right to be here. The bar has been set for bar food and it is shorties. read more

What a great place to stumble across. I had some misgivings when I pulled up and the restaurant seemed to be in the middle of a random neighborhood, but don't let that fool you, this place is great. Everyone who was working here was super nice and friendly. FYI the menu on here is very outdated and very wrong, but it does give an idea of what they serve (Italian with sandwiches and bar food type appetizers).
