Cutest little hole in the wall in Alhambra. Given the diversity of our orders, we pretty much ordered the entire menu. I can happily say that we loved everything we got. Looks like their menu has nothing but winners. I got the rendang. For the price, my plate offered so much value in exchange for the $16.50 it cost. The ratio of protein to rice to veggies was more than reasonable. It was delicious and authentic! I didn't find it spicy. They add some sort of sambal to your plate so if you wish to, you could increase the heat. The bathroom was clean. So was the entire restaurant. And the staff were solicitous and ready to accommodate our needs. Given the level of hospitality we experienced as well as the incredible value we got from our very satisfying meal, you can bet we'll be back very soon.
Borneo Eatery had been on my list for a while and being a fan of the food from that region made it a must try. The place can get busy so just be prepared for that. I went with the Borneo Seafood with flat rice noodles, good portion size and well seasoned. But the smoky flavor was what really got me. That's the kind of thing that makes a dish memorable.
Pretty good. I got the Nasi Campur... It wasn't nasty at all, but the char siu wasn't that good. I had to drown it in their soup/gravy thing. The egg was good, but I prefer Vietnamese braised pork & eggs. The Chinese sausage is good of course, can't mess that up. The best thing was the chicken in this dish. Really crispy. Overall, pretty large amount of rice and not that much meat for the price, but at least most of it tasted pretty good.
I got the Melayu and the Gado Gado to share. I felt that everything was very affordable and the portion is very decent for the price. This was my first time having the Gado Gado, it was pretty good and interesting but definitely wouldn't be my top choice. It was basically a bed of lettuce with peanut sauce, while it did taste good nothing really stood out and it tastes exactly how it sounds. The Melayu came with Indonesian curry, rice, fried chicken etc. The fried chicken pretty much tasted like popcorn chicken but I loved the curry and peanut anchovy sauce it came with, it was so flavoral and really tied the whole dish together.
Been wanting to try Borneo Eatery for awhile and finally got the chance. The shop is small, but the service was quick and efficient. We ordered the roti prata, laksa, and cendol dessert for my parents, and the chicken satay, nasi campur, penyet plate, roti prata, and teh tarik for the rest of the family. Overall, the food tasted great and everyone enjoyed their dishes. Definitely get the coconut rice, which brings a rich yet light flavor to the rice and makes it absolutely delicious. The standout for me was definitely the roti prata -- cooked to perfection: crispy, light, airy, and super satisfying. The flavors across the dishes were solid and made me excited to come back and explore more of the menu. My only disappointment was the portion for the large roti prata order. It only came with 2 rotis and a small container of curry sauce, which felt a bit skimpy for the price/size. Still, the quality of the food was excellent overall, and I'd definitely come back again to try other dishes.
The milk tea with jelly is a must-try! We ordered 3 dishes for the two of us: Roti Prata: The sauce has a strong, delicious flavor. Just dip the roti in and enjoy! Chicken Rice and Egg noodle were good, but in my opinion, the chicken was a bit too sweet.
The Signature Laksa was amazing and came with your choice of noodle! Things that stood out were the creamy flavor of the broth, it's a shrimp based curry - I tasted some chili oil & other spices, the fish cake, and the marinated eggs were a nice addition.
Came here to order to go closer to the restaurant's closing time. The staff was very friendly and food came out within a few mins - I love the efficiency! I got the beef rendang and it just tastes like what I got back in Indonesia. The flavor was wonderful. I will definitely come back next time to try their other dishes. The restaurant feels a bit fast and casual. Highly recommend here.
My very first time trying Indonesian/Singaporean/Malaysian cuisine, and I am a huge fan! This is definitely a hole-in-the-wall place, which confirmed to me that the dishes were authentic. The interior is so cute and colorful that it made the dining experience all the more fun and appetizing. We ordered a Large Roti Prata (2 grilled flour based pancake/bread) that is served with their Indonesian curry sauce. The soft/chewy Roti Prata dipped in the curry sauce was phenomenal! I absolutely loved everything about this appetizer. For the main, we ordered Lemak, which is a coconut grant rice plate served with friend chicken, fried tofu, curry egg, and spicy peanut anchovy. Interestingly, the star of this dish was the peanut anchovy and curry egg. We also ordered the famous Singapore Laksa that comes with a choice of egg noodles, vermicelli, or flat rice noodles. This noodle soup is a creamy coconut milk-based curry with shrimp, fish cake, fried tofu, marinated egg, sweet corn, and bean sprouts. I would definitely order this again! It seems like a lot of people get the Chicken Satay so I definitely want to come back to try that and get some of the other menus that I've tried previously again.
Super delicious Indonesian/singaporean/malaysian food. It's a cute little mom and pop shop and the service was super quick! The portions weren't too big so we were able to share a bunch of dishes among the whole table. Chicken satay - 5/5 Super moist and the sauce it came with had a rlly nice sweet and salty flavor Roti - 5/5 The roti was really flaky and soft and paired really well with the curry sauce Beef rendang- 4/5 A bit on the spicy side and the beef was a bit dry, but overall still delicious. I do wish it came w a little more meat tho Singapore laksa - 4/5 LOVED the coconut flavor of the laksa. The noodles were slightly overcooked tho and again, I wish it came w more protein Borneo style rice noodles - 4/5 Tastes exactly like what you expect -- sweet, salty, w added freshness from the bean sprouts and vegetables Overall, would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area. I could def see this becoming a staple restaurant for me if I lived in the 626
Been wanting to come to Borneo Kalimantan for more than 10 years since they were just a little portion with barely any room to sit. They since have expanded and finally we were able to go. With that said, we ordered the Roti Prata ($5.99) - comes with only 1 piece along with a very small portion of curry sauce to dip. Expensive for what it is. For entrees we got the Borneo Seafood 'From The Wok' (rice option, $17) but more like 'fried rice' consists of a few shrimps, strips of fish cake slices, and some fish ball halves; and their Gado Gado salad ($13) - a medley of fried tofu, some bean sprouts and cut cucumbers along with fried shallot toppings and peanut dressing, but the egg omitted. All were good but not great, well, actually the roti curry dipping was excellent but too bad it was so small. Excellent friendly staff. Seating was quick followed by their prompt ordering process, and alas, food came out fairly quickly. Why the 3-stars you might asks? I find the food price to be on the higher side for what they serve. $6 for a single piece of roti is a slight overkill considering we were used to getting two pieces accompanied with a much bigger bowl of curry compared to similar (Malaysian/Singaporean) restaurants. But this isn't the main issue.... The main (issue) surprise: There is an extra 3% credit-card surcharge on top of your bill which isn't noted anywhere as I found out after I got home. When the server came back with their little machine to pay, options were the 'tip' - starting with the usual at 18% so forth, and of course most tend to choose the first option, as I did. Brought my phone up close to device unit using Apple Pay and NFC kicks in! So in short, I paid 21% more on top of my regular bill. Question is, who doesn't use credit cards these days, or was it just another form of surcharge to cover employee health insurance to deter from mentioning? Be aware.
As a born and semi-bred Malaysian, Borneo Eatery is a solid pick for those looking to try or revisit borneo-cuisine. Came in early on a Friday and was greeted with friendly service. Ordering was quick and we were checked in on a handful of times. The staff were attentive and smiley. I got the Nasi Lemak as that was a personal favourite of mine growing up. It didn't exactly hit the spot but it definitely surprised me in a good way. The chopped up chicken allowed for a crispier exterior but also meant less juicy meat. Cabbage as a side was new to me, but was fresh and creamy. Solid sambal, though I'd personally like it a touch hotter. Overall a different take that works and makes it a wonderful, easy to eat rice dish. Chicken satay was great! Nutty sauce with a crispy garnish. It's missing the smoky flavour but the meat was cooked very well. A casual, family-friendly, hole-in-the-wall restaurant that lives up to it's name.
Came back here, and the food was delicious. It wasn't too crowded on Thursday around 6:30PM (only a few tables were occupied), so we were able to walk in and place our order fairly quickly. This time, I tried these items: Singapore Laksa - I actually loved this. Like curry noodles, good flavor, not too strong, totally enjoyable. (4.5/5) Hakka Mie - It was good. Simple and classic. Nothing too crazy, but tasty. (4/5) Cendol - A tasty dessert drink. Not too sweet, though the drink wasn't topped off. Still good. (4/5) Overall, Borneo always hits, and the prices are pretty reasonable. Always comforting. Parking - Super easy, as they have a multi-story lot out back.

Came here since we missed Uncle Fung and although it doesn't hit the same, it's still good. The portions are large and the service is excellent despite there being a crowd. I would say the laksa is not as creamy and potent in curry flavor and is a little watered down but it still gets the job done. Ingredients are fresh and yummy! Borneo Eatery is located within the lively downtown Alhambra district, which includes many eateries and shops. While the front door is pretty unassuming directly on Garfield, there is a free parking structure behind the restaurant that serves the area. My friend and I met at Borneo for lunch and were seated pretty quickly. There is ample seating in the restaurant, though during the Saturday lunch hour most tables were occupied. IMO, this restaurant doesn't lend itself to large groups, but can easily handle a family of 4-6 (max) per table. Staff was attentive enough, though in the beginning it felt we were being rushed to order as we both reviewed the menu. Staff was friendly overall. Borneo only serves water and a few a few assorted teas as beverage choices. There are no alcoholic beverages or common soft drinks available. We began our meal with the Roti Prata, which was WONDERFUL! They arrived warm, crisp, and flaky. The roti is served with a dipping sauce. Though it felt a bit pricey to me ($9.50 for 2), I would give these a 5/5! Definitely a MUST if you eat here. For my entree, I had the Singapore Laksa with egg noodles. While reminiscent of Japanese ramen in composition, the flavors were unique and delicious. There's a sweetness along with the spice that created a great balance for the bowl. By the end, I was absolutely stuffed. Great value for the price here ($14.50)- 5/5 My friend had the Chicken Satay Entree with Curry Rice. All was seasoned well, though chicken was slightly dry. This would be a good, "safe" meal for a non-adventurous diner. I was recommended this place by an Indonesian coworker of mine & by my siblings. My family and I came here on Christmas Day for dinner around 6pm. There was plenty of seating but my the time it got to 6:30 many more parties came in. Service is kind of slow. You have to wait for someone to come by and then flag them immediately or else you won't seen them for another 5-10 mins. Other than service being slow, food did come out quick. We ordered the roti prata - it was thicker than I like for a roti but still flaky and delicious. The chicken satay was very flavorful. The chicken in the Nasi Campur was the most memorable part of our meal, wish there was more of it on the dish. The bbq pork/chasiu wasn't too good. There was a lot of fat on the pork. Overall I had a decent experience and food was good. I would definitely come back to try their other dishes. read more

Very friendly and fast service. Lots of available seating and overall a quiet restaurant. Roti Prata - the roti was crispy and had a nice crunch but it was very soft on the inside and had a nice subtle flavor. The curry was slightly sweet and rich. Definitely recommend ! Indo style noodles - very reminiscent of Char Kway teo but instead of seafood this came with fried chicken. Best dish that I tried. Chicken satay with coconut rice - The coconut rice did taste like a savory coco but it was pretty dry. The chicken itself was cooked nicely but the sauce it had was so strong and left a strong aftertaste I didn't like. I'd pass on this dish. Lots of other dishes on the menu I'd love to try , just don't have the belly space :) read more
Hands down our fav Singaporean Malaysian restaurant! Must order: roti prata; chicken satay soooooo good juicy and the sauce is delicious; broth for laksa is 1000 out of 10, but it can be a bit too heavy for some people; Kalimantan noodle soup is very homey; and their fried rice is amazing, the rice bits are chewy and flavorful, yum!! Parking is free and in the back. Service is good and pretty quick if it's not the weekend cuz they can get pretty busy. They don't take Amex though. read more

YAYYY another delicious visit at Borneo! This time I went with the Satay Plate, which included chicken satay and my choice of curry rice. The chicken satay was phenomenal and rich in flavor. I loved the dried onions on top of the rice and chicken, it added another layer of flavor and texture to the dish. The chicken was tender; both the rice and chicken were cooked well and soaked up the sauces beautifully. Service was amazing and friendly as usual; I am always greeted by a kind smile here. I also noticed that our dishes came out around the same time during this visit so I appreciate that! read more
Came here with a party of five and got seated right away. Ordered Singapore Laska and Hakka Mie. The Singapore Laska was flavorful, but I don't think I was used to the flavor so overall, it was just okay for me. The portion size was large and the amount of ingredients they provided was generous though. As for Hakka Mie, the noodles were cooked to perfection and though it's a dry dish, it was very flavorful and delicious. This dish also provided a generous amount of ingredients and honestly, I prefer Hakka Mie over Singapore Laska. Overall, I would like to be back and try all their other dishes. It's quite unique and different. Though the Laska had a flavor I wasn't used to, it was worth a try. I just personally prefer Hakka Mie over the Laska. read more

Borneo Eatery is my #1 favorite spot to get Indonesian, Malaysian, and Singaporean cuisine! Their menu is the perfect size with having all the top South East Asian staples so whatever you order here IS always good. They do all their dishes so well and I'm surprised they aren't on the Michelin guide since 2019 (they are THAT GOOD imo). The prices are so affordable for the enormous amounts of food each dish comes with. Nasi Rendang (5/5): Borneo has the BEST Rendang here. No wonder it's a house favorite. This dish comes with beef rendang, fried tofu, curry egg, spicy peanut anchovy served over curry with a side of fluffy white rice. The beef rendang is slowly cooked in coconut milk and spices so it's packed with flavor. I would describe this dish as the meat falls off the "non-existent bone" lol! Get this dish as a must as well. Large Roti Prata (5/5): They make the best rotis here that are buttery and flaky! It comes with their Indonesian curry sauce that has a little kick to it but is filled with rich, goodness. I love how dense the rotis are while also being so flaky. Singapore Laksa (5/5): This is their shrimp based curry laksa broth noodle dish that comes with loads of shrimp, fish cake, fried tofu, marinated egg, sweet corn, and bean sprouts. I love their coconut curry broth that is fragrant, rich, and aromatic! They let you choose choice of egg noodles, vermicelli, or flat rice noodles. We chose the egg noodles and it did not disappoint as it soaked up all the tasty broth so well! Hokkien Mie (4/5): This is a dry noodle Hawker dish made with their homemade egg noodles that is seasoned with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesesame oil, and mirin. This dish was topped with their sweet soy chicken, char siu, veggies, and their marinated egg! The sauce covered the egg noodles so well! You have the option to pick your choice of thin, medium, or thick noodles. I want to come back to try their other dishes! read more
Came here on a Saturday around 3:30 pm. There's a large parking structure behind the building that has free parking for 4 hours. There's also some free 2 hr street parking spots. We were greeted and seated immediately. The employees were quick, efficient, and attentive throughout the meal. The inside was bright with colorful and whimsical decorations. There are a good number of tables for a small business. We decided to get the cendol beverage, small roti prata, pempek with selam, lemak, and the Singapore Laksa with egg noodles. The food was ready super quickly. The roti was out within minutes, following by the laksa and lemak. The cendol and pempek shortly after. The roti was delicious. A simple appetizer that is one of my favorites. The curry dipping sauce was a little runnier than I am used to, but I ended up drinking it as I took bites of the roti! The fried chicken and fried triangular tofu (one of my favorite ingredients ever) of the lemak were my favorites of the whole meal. Super flavorful and savory. Went well with the coconut rice, fresh veg, peanuts, and fried fish. The laksa was good. It had a lot of broth but it was more runny and not as creamy as I'm used to. The flavors were there but could have been stronger. It came with a whole marinated egg cut in half, 2 pieces of triangular fried tofu, 2 small shrimps, and 2 slices of fish cake. There were a few bean sprouts and a good about of noodles. Overall yummy! While it wasn't the best Singaporean/Malaysian I've ever had, it certainly was satisfying enough. The prices here are lower than other places and the quantities are pretty big, making me believe that it's worth it come for sure! read more
*Review was based on a food app delivery.* With my recent experience, I ordered (1) Singapore Laska with egg noodle and (1) Nasi Campur. For the Nasi Campur, I felt char siu was the best part. Everything else tasted a bit dry, bland, and did not taste well together. As for the Singapore Laska, it had a creamy curry taste and it was slightly spicy. this place is a little pricey, but I liked their noodles. My father felt like their roti was okay. We liked the roti at another restaurant a bit better. The curry sauce was delicious. I like the taste and the dishes offered slight variations.But it seemed like it's just a rice or noodles with different options of the meat choice with it. The staff were friendly and helpful. They are very quick too. When we went for Sunday lunch it wasn't crowded. Only 2-3 tables filled at a time. The restaurant is pretty casual and has a slight theme to it. It's been about ten years since my last visit. I'm rarely in this part of town but always wanted to return. Since my last visit, they've expanded the restaurant and even added coffee shop next door. I'm so happy to see that this little gem survived the COVID era and doing really well. I had laksa, one of my favorite dishes. I also got a noodle dish to go for my teenager at home. Since he's allergic to peanuts , I asked them for recommendations. It was delicious and my son loved it. (Borneo with flat noodles) Parking is always a pain in this part of town. I visited on a Sunday, past 1pm. Hard to get to but there's a structure parking with free parking up to 4 hours right behind. But there's structure was almost full. Just bring a lot of patience when driving around this area especially on weekends. read more
This restaurant is illuminating for those that haven't tried IndoSingaporlaysian food! The cuisines from all 3 regions morph into a trifecta delivering pure pleasures to the taste buds. The restaurant is tucked near a corner with limited parking in the back, but very close to a free large parking structure. From the street view, the restaurant doesn't look that big but there's actually a good amount of space inside for smaller and larger parties. The service here was very good, we were sat with no hassle and had been checked on frequently. Our server even helped us make our selection with some dishes we were unsure on. My favorite parts of the meal were the sweet creamy cendol, umami heavy nasi lemak soup, and the chunky pempek! The portions here are quite generous considering the prices of the menu, excellent value for your bucks. We love delicious bites on a budget. This restaurant holds a very memorable spot in my taste history and I can't wait to return! It was an amazing find and one I'd easily recommend to a friend! read more
Cute restaurant with colorful doors as decorations. Roomy and comfortable. For parking, there's a parking structure in the rear of the building. Great service - workers are friendly and take the time to explain dishes and recommendations. Very impressed with the flavors and portion sizes. Pricing is more than fair. We enjoyed everything we ordered - see pics. The Teh Tarik drink was very refreshing and tasty - the grass jelly was soft and flavorful. The Singapore Laksa was a large bowl and tasted very good. It had a good mix of ingredients. The Roti Prata was nicely fried and had a good crisp. Everything had good flavor. I don't usually have Indonesian food and it was a nice change of pace. The flavors are different from the usual Asian places (Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Viennese,m) so it was a it was a nice change. I'll be visiting again. read more

Friendly and attentive staff. We ordered 3, Chicken satay which has 5 skewers per order and it's nicely coated with crispy caramelized onions and peanuts and really tasty savory sauce. Singapore laksa was a little spicy but good combination of curry taste just a little coconut milk? Kwe Tiaw Siram is my favorite tonight. Translucent gravy on flat noodles. read more
Borneo Eatery specializes in Indonesian, Malaysian, and Singaporean cuisine. I ordered the Singaporean Laksa and Beef Randang plate: The Laksa was delicious! It's made with a strong shrimp broth based with light curry aftertaste; the addition of crispy fried shallots elevated the taste. The soup arrived pipping hot filled with generous ingredients of fish cake, tofu, shrimp, bean sprouts, corn... the house made egg noodles were amazing! Definitely get it with egg noodles. Very good I thought. The Beef Rendang was good, but I thought the beef shank was a little chewy, needed to be more tender. Overall flavor was good with all the components (fried tofu, curry egg, and spicy peanut anchovy) on the plate. Service was efficient and Ambiance is ok. The place looks renovated and very clean. Parking is easy peasy: park at the FREE parking structure behind the restaurant. Payment: Credit or Cash. read more

Been craving Indonesian, Singporean food, because back in the days in Denver, I used to work with a Singaporean chef whom made the best Rengdeng Beef, and Ayam Curry, and Kway Tiao Chow Fun. So coming out to Borneo just brings back all the memories and the food here is legitimately heavenly goodness. Perfect food for a cool rainy day. Singapore Laksa was bursting with flavor, love the coconut and spices, just bliss. The Chicken Satay is probably one of the best I've had in the Los Angeles area, it just melts in your mouth smothered in peanut sauce, spices and fries crispy onions, I recommend anyone wanting to savor the cuisine of the south sea to pay a pilgrimage here. Service was fast, sat down and within 8 minutes my food was out, not to mention the restaurant was packed in a modern setting. A+++ will always be returning! read more

My friend and I visited this restaurant for the 1st time last Wednesday May 21. We wanted to take a break from our usual East Asian spots and try a new Asian cuisine. This place was in one of my friend's bookmarks, so we decided to go here for dinner. My friend and I ordered the following: Gado Gado - I suggested this to my friend because I used to live with an older Indonesian/Dutch couple and they made this dish often. I would rate this a 7.5/10 Rendang - My friend and I have never tried this before. I thought this was tasty. My spice tolerance is pretty high, so I think I would consider its spice level as mild. I enjoyed this a lot because how flavorful it is, and it made me full quickly. I would order this again when I come back to this place to try other flood in the menu. I would rate it an 9/10 Hokkien Mie - This was also another food we have never tried before. My friend chose thick noodles for this, and it was pretty chewy. I thought it went well with the sweet soy chicken. I would rate it an 8.5/10 I liked the ambiance of this place. It looked cute and felt homey. Service was good and fast, which we were very thankful for. Would definitely go back again when I crave Indonesian/Singaporean/Malaysian food. read more

I so badly wanted to like this place, but after two visits, I do not. The menu is not descriptive, so I have no idea what the items are in terms of flavor profile. I figured with all the great reviews, I'd just order something from every category, ask the staff for recommendations, and surely something would be a win. Well, Ive now been here twice and it seems like everything has the same general flavor profile. Vegetarian options are limited to a salad, requesting a meatless pan fried noodle, and roti bread. Staff is really friendly and kind. Service is reasonably paced. read more
Borneo is the perfect, inexpensive, authentic spot if you're craving Indonesian, Malaysian, or Singaporean food! There's plenty of seating inside and their service is pretty fast. We ended up ordering the Singaporean laksa ($14.50) & satay plate with coconut rice ($13.99). The satay plate only comes with 4 chicken skewers (and 3 slices of cucumber), but they were absolutely delicious and were a good contrast to rich laksa broth. My favorite Indonesian restaurant. Parking is easy, very big,and free. The restaurant takes Indonesian inferior , It so cool and vibes. The food is the best!!! I really like NASI CAMPUR. It's the most popular menu, and it was delicious! I often go to this restaurant. However, today's Nasi Campur is really good! The broth is thick , Chicken is crispy, fried garlic smell good. Also, the red meat, and the eggs are excellent. The servers are friendly and good. The restaurant is big and clean. Price is affordable 15-22$(with tax and tip) Will come back for sure to get my Nasi Campur :D read more

On a saturday afternoon, there are a decent amount of people but the service was super quick and we got our food within 5 minutes. I ordered the laksa and it was so good. The portion was big and the laksa was full of flavor. The curry broth was so creamy and not super spicy, just to my liking. I liked everything in it - fish cake and tofu etc - and the egg noodles was chewy and bouncy too. It was so perfect and I am definitely coming back to try more things. read more

A friend and I decided to try this place out since we've never been before. We parked in the parking structure behind the movie theater and walked over. We came for lunch on Memorial Day and were seated instantly. To share, we ordered the roti prata, chicken satay with coconut rice, and the laksa. The best dish by far was the chicken satay. The chicken was so tender and the marinade was so flavorful. The roti came with a curry based dipping sauce and if you get the large size it comes with two roti. The laksa was also good but the broth could've been a little more flavorful. After tax and tip the total for the two of us was just under $50. I definitely recommend this place for the chicken satay alone but I'll be back to try some of their other dishes! read more

Borneo Eatery was fantastic! We got in, no wait at 06:45PM for dinner was a shock, and the food we ordered was delicious. The staff was extremely attentive and came by multiple times to make sure everything was going well. Our orders came out in probably no longer than 10 minutes and the decorations within the restaurant were cute and unique. I would highly recommend this restaurant even for a large party though I do feel it may take some time to accommodate a larger party than 6 just given the space of the restaurant. Also do yourself a favor and order the Chicken Satay! That was the star of the show and honestly would come back for that alone. read more

Yes!!! Finally, a laksa and noodles just like we have in Australia in the many Indo/Malaysian spots. Just amazing and sad it's taken me 20 years in LA to find the place but better late than never. Definitely get the laksa with noodle, we had egg noodle and then the Borneo with flat rice noodle which tastes like Kway Teow to me, and amazing. The Gado Gado is also great. Friendly service, very quick food, and park in the big parking structure down the street. Love it! read more
Since I had some Singaporean homemade meal, I've been searching for that taste. Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Not exactly the same, but here are some dishes that I enjoyed. Roti Prata: small (1 pc) / large (2 pcs) - liked it better by itself than dipped in the curry sauce Rojak: love this simple fruit salad - cucumber/carrot/pineapple/jicama .. don't think I got a piece of sweet potato Singaporean Laksa: with egg noodle, flavorful soup but don't like the fried tofu (bland) Rendang: tender meat, flavorful (esp that anchovy/peanut) with rice Cute restaurant + public parking structure in the back. read more

Very unique and tasty experience! Tried this Indonesian mom and pop shop, and was in for a pleasant surprise. The food was very flavorful and tasty. The soup based was curry but light enough to be a soup - the combination of coconut and tamarind was just perfect. Definitely a spot I will be visiting once a month! read more

Came here pre-pandemic and decided to visit this place again. This restaurant is known for their Indonesian food and Singaporean dishes. Yet, this restaurant is quite inconspicuous to the human eye as there's other notable restaurants along Main Street in Alhambra. Previously, I had ordered the Nasi Campur, which was so good as it featured different types of meat such as char siu, Chinese sausage, and chicken. However, one thing I didn't like about the dish was the lack of veggies so I wanted something less meat-ier this time around. My friend came here and ordered the Hakka Mie so decided to try that out! Wasn't sure what to expect but the noodles kind of tasted like a thicker and chewier texture of ramen. The broth came separate and you pour it in. This dish also came with fish balls, soy-marinated egg, char siu, bean sprouts, and fried garlic. It was very flavorful so definitely felt pretty full afterwards. Overall, it was not bad and definitely was craving something noodle-y that day. I think I would prefer Nasi Campur though just because it offered more variety as this dish felt like I was just eating a bowl of ramen with different toppings than usual. But I appreciate the authenticity of Indonesian food this restaurant upholds (as my fellow Indo friend said it's pretty spot on) read more

Such a cute place. Food was delicious. We got the Laksa ($17) and Rendang ($16). Both were really comforting and great portions. I also really liked the Teh Tarik ($4.99) which is their milk tea with grass jelly. read more
Borneo is flavorful and always hits the spot when we want some Roti. It's chewy here and less flaky. Service is usually quick. Parking is easy around here. The drinks here are fantastic too. I know they've got a spot just next door that specializes in drinks, but I prefer the drinks here! Favorites are the Roti and Satay. I find the Laksa to be warming on a cold day. read more

They accept credit card; yes there can be a wait if you go during peak dining time as there's not many tables inside.
