I am BLOWN away by this restaurant. I am a big fan of Korean food, and this really hit the spot. The price is a little high, but the quality, taste, and amount of food you get makes up for it. I decided to get the bulgogi bimabob bowl with the pickled cucumbers. I am allergic to sesame seeds, and the manager was super accommodating. She explained every item that had sesame seeds and oil in it. It came out to about $20 with tip. To me, this is pretty pricey for lunch. My food arrived steaming hot in my stone pot bowl. The bowl is such a great touch as it makes the outside of the rice crispy. It was AMAZING. The texture was great. Their was a good amount of bulgogi and it had so much flavor. I always struggle with reviewing modern Korean places. I'll admit I'm a traditionalist, but I also try to examine the food from a pure taste perspective and understand what the business is trying to do for their take on Korean food. I got the kimchi fried rice, which upon afterthought is a tough dish to judge without being a traditionalist. This is one of the staples of Korean comfort food. This isn't something you don't just give a modern touch without a lot of risks. I can tell they used some ripe kimchi which is a must and the flavor was pretty solid but it definitely wasn't traditional and it lacked something. It was lacking the pork but I guess you need to pay extra for meat. I figure for $12, it should already come with some but I guess you need to pay for that and then more for some toasted seaweed. I'm willing to give the place a try again but this time I'll probably avoid something that's so close and personal to Korean people's hearts. read more

This review may be biased given the fact that it was snowing and 30 degrees outside, but this place exceeded my expectation! The space is very cozy and comforting and the staff was very helpful explaining the different modifications and such. I had ordered the Mom's Medley and it was amazing. So many fresh veggies and the serving size was big, I probably could've split the meal in two but I was coming from freezing cold snow in Seattle so of course I ate it all. And after I didn't get that groggy, hate my life feeling of when you know you just consumed way too much fried/heavily oiled food. My friend, who is the least adventurous type when it comes to trying new things, got the Bulgogi Rib-Eye. Could not stop talking about how good it was. The rice to protein ratio was spot on. I got the japchae bop with bulgogi and I was a littttle bit skeptical about how traditional it would taste but it hit all of my nostalgic soft spots. I ate the whole bowl faster than my husband ate his (which NEVER happens). I liked that there was rice under the noodles since that how I like to eat any noodle dish. It just felt like they knew how I would like to eat my meal..maybe I'm homesick. Husband got the yakisoba noodles with chicken (I think) and he was super satisfied with his meal too. I think we would swing by again if we were around the area and hankering for something familiar and tasty (which is all the time). Variety of colors in meals, and modern taste to Korean cuisine ! this is my 2nd time stopping by BOP BOX and they do not disappoint. Moms medley is their featured meal. Seems like it is the "bibimbap" with a fresh twist. Bulgogi, eggs, tempura kale and other fresh veggies. The purple rice also give a great texture ! Lastly, their chia seed ginger lemonade is delicious ! Only thing I wish is that they offered indoor seating again. They only do takeout at this time, but the breweries such as jellyfish or space dust, allows you to bring food in, and enjoy some tap beer so there's some options to still sit down and eat locally. read more

Not a big platter sized pancake bi bimpap: you can get any number of toppings. the bottom of your carb of choice (white or black rice, or cauliflower rice and quinoa), lots of veggies marinated mushrooms, cucumber, sprouts topped with a nice looking fried egg. I usually add some avocado for good measure. Food is pretty yummy and although not your traditional korean lunch place its still a solid option for lunch in the area. read more

This is a tiny place, but it has some flavor. I was a little bit thrown off by having to order at the counter. I also was thrown off by portions. I definitely over ordered and grabbed an extra entrée of fried rice because I didn't know any better. The kalbi was more than enough for me. All the dishes were tasty, but I over did it. I was stuffed. I will also admit that I went with the cauliflower rice, which made my bill much bigger than I thought it would be. Surprise! We ordered take out from BopBox for the first time last night. The delivery was fast and easy. I can't say enough good things about the food. It was very tasty and the sauces were the bomb! We tried the Hot Bop and Ginger Tahini and both were spicy and full of flavor. For meals we got the Bulgogi RIbeye. It was tangy and tender. Next time we will order extra meat. We also ordered the Spicy Smokey with Chicken and Black Rice. I don't know what the heck black rice is but I know I love it. The dish has a little pop and the chicken was very moist. I absolutely LOVE Bopbox, it's easily my favorite Korean restaurant in Seattle. Bopbox puts a modern twist on traditional Korean dishes such as bulgogi and japchae, and its result are delicious and flavorful bowls that can appeal to a wide variety of people. Their signature items are called bopbowls, which are basically just their fancy modern bibimbap bowls. Each bowl usually is made of a protein, a grain, a unique sauce and any special toppings. My favorite and personal recommendation is the bulgogi rib-eye. So much flavor! and the quality in their meat here was perfection to me. You can also create your own bibimbap by choosing your own options if you're more into customization. A ton of ingredients to choose from, whether it be traditional (white rice, pork belly, japchae, etc.) or non-traditional (cauliflower rice, quinoa, squash, etc.). One downside is that the hours are limited and only open on weekdays. Parking was also hard to find so we just parked illegally at another restaurant nearby. Prices are decent though, and the staff here were super friendly. I really liked the laid back and casual ambiance. Overall, Bopbox is great. It's unique twist on Korean cuisine that keeps things fresh. If you can make it during their limited hours, I highly recommend the visit. I'll definitely be back soon! read more

I came here after training for my Ironman to represent the USA and raise cancer research funds for cancer that afflict children on 8/28/22 in Canada. I was greeted by a positive and vibrant woman. I ordered the Bulgogi Ribeye Bowl for here with a Yuzu. Excellent food. It wasn't spicy enough even with the extra $1 added for more spice though. Came here for the first time with my boyfriend and his mom for dinner. We ordered the BopBox Lemon grass ribs, the Hambagu Steak, and the kimchi pancakes to share. It's a fairly small restaurant where you order at the counter and then find an open table. Each table has napkins, forks, and chopsticks. Water bottles and cups are located in the fridge next to where you pay. The look and feel of the restaurant is pretty trendy and casual. It didn't take long for our food to come. The lemongrass ribs and the kimchi pancakes came out first. The ribs were juicy and very tasty. And although I can't really handle spicy, the kimchi pancakes were also very good. After starting on the ribs and pancakes, the hamburger steak came. The skillet comes with 4 small sized patties, lots of brown gravy, and veggies. It was very delicious. We had a very minor situation with this dish, which was really no big deal. But they graciously remade this entree as well as comped us some pork belly skewers, which was also pretty tasty and very much appreciated. If you're in the Georgetown area and looking for some yummy Asian food to eat, I highly recommend trying this place out. The service and food is really great. read more

I was excited to find a new Korean restaurant in Georgetown. Bopbox is a modern and healthy alternative to the other restaurants in the area. All their ingredients are organic and the kimchi is made in-house. The staff was very friendly and for being a new restaurant, they're doing an awesome job attending to their guests. I ordered the braised lemongrass short ribs and they were delicious. It came with five large ribs on a bed of sautéed kale (I opted for no rice) and a side of pickled broccoli. The ribs were extremely tender to the point where I can pull the meat off with my chopsticks effortlessly. The flavors were balanced and worked well with the kale. Korean cuisine is my favorite and I'm so happy to see a new restaurant in Georgetown pop up. They are open for lunch at 11-3 and dinner at 4:30-8. Closed on Sundays. The staff is welcoming and friendly. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. It's modern and cozy. You place your order at the front and they bring your meal out. They have a couple of vegan choices here, which is great to have. We ordered kim chee pancake, hambagu steak, dashi tofu soy bibimbop and bulgogi beef bibimbop. You can order your dishes with black rice or white rice. I opted for black rice. The food was amazing! Great portions. I love the veggies in my bibimbop. They give you your own bottle of gochujang sauce, which is nice. On my next visit, I'll try the sukiyaki. read more

I met some friends here for late lunch. When we first arrived, it was quite busy. Most tables were full, so we had to wait for a brief moment for one to open up. It's a small place, so there isn't much in the way of seating. At BOPBOX, it's counter service. You choose what you'd like, order it and then they bring it to your table. They have a cooler with assorted beers and non-alcoholic beverages. They keep carafes of water and glasses in the cooler, too. Their menu rotates often, or so it seems. Our food arrived surprisingly quickly. My friends who arrived before me ordered a kimchi pancake. It was delicious and had plenty of great kimchi flavor. They offered an option to add bacon to the pancake, which we declined, since I'm trying to watch my sodium intake. I ordered their Sake Salmon Macrobop with sake-soy salmon, chilies, garlic, scallion, honey, sesame, sautéed kale, seasonal veggies, beet pickled daikon, cilantro and cucumbers with white rice. They serve their food in sturdy ceramic bowls on aluminum baking trays with a small side dish of their daily kimchi. The salmon was cooked well, not overdone and the vegetables were well paired. My friend ordered their Bulgogi Brisket Bopbowl. It included soy-garlic brisket, scallion, onion, cabbage, sesame seeds. He added a sunny side up egg and chose their cauliflower rice with quinoa. Our other friend ordered the Bibimbop with spicy pork, their OG hot sauce and their black rice. They serve the bibimbop with watercress, zucchini, kale, onion, carrots, red cabbage, butternut squash, beets, cremini mushrooms, kimchi, sesame seeds and a sunny side up egg. She also ordered their Orange Yuzu Mint Sparkler, which was made with preserved yuzu, muddled orange and mint, mint syrup, and topped with seltzer water and a lime. We also ordered a 3 part sampler of their kimchi/fermented veggies. I chose the spicy bok choy kimchi, spicy daikon kimchi and their beet pickled daikon. The kimchi wasn't as spicy as I am typically used to or able to handle, which was fine, as I'm sure they have to adjust their heat levels to their clientele. I highly recommend BOPBOX for a lunch or an early dinner. Also, bring a friend or two and try to just split everything so you can taste all of the delicious flavors. read more

While using more western friendly veggies, good balance with rice/ moderate amount of sauce & perfectly grilled pork belly makes it taste very authentic. +1 on colorful presentation which stimulated appetite. Great food! Went here last weekend and ordered the kimchi fried rice with bacon togo and it was delicious. I had a bite of my cousins japchae and that tasted amazing too. It was very flavorful. Came here again with a group of friends today and tried the bulgogi brisket bibimbap with the OG sauce. It was so good. It's served in a sizzling bowl so your food stays hot. I tried my friends tamarind tahini sauce she had for her bibimbap and that sauce was great with the OG sauce. Would definitely recommend this place. One thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is the customer service. I understand it is a small place and mistakes happen but instead of making excuses for mistakes, just apologize to customers and try to make things right especially when it was multiple mistakes. In the end, y'all did redeem yourselves after several conversations but just a simple hey I'm sorry from the get go would've sufficed. The kimchi fried rice was incredible! They cut the tofu into tiny pieces which I love and use a ton of onion and spices. The bibimbap was the best I have had in the US. The seating here is pretty limited, however I noticed that people usually eat and go knowing that there are people waiting for seats which is nice. You would order first and then find a table. I ordered the yakisoba noodle bowl with bulgogi. I love how it comes in a heavy mini skillet and the noodles were cooked perfectly, not too soggy at all. The dish came with a lot of bulgogi meat and it didn't taste dry. I liked the cabbage that was in it, it also tasted fresh. Overall, the dish was flavorful and saucy. The dish also came with a small side of kimchi diakon. This place isn't cheap either, it was around ~$15 for the yakisoba bowl. Overall, I would return! Would also recommend letting the rice sit and crisp more, as it comes out still soft. It was filling overall, but admit the price isn't cheap.
