Parking spots do exist in front of the restaurant but they are fairly tight. The location is right on super-busy Rainier Ave after all. As for the food, the Chicken Teriyaki is pretty good. Giant portions, affordable, and they make the teriyaki sauce and salad dressing from scratch. The chicken is skin-on, dark meat, and mostly juicy but also very thick. The flavors did not permeate throughout the meat as much as I like, but there was plenty of flavor on the skin. A good place for fast takeout. Seattle seems to have tons of good Teriyaki places.

I'm a Seattle native too yet I tried here for their first time along with two other friends - who also haven't had here - on a Saturday noon for lunch. It's peak lunch hour so all dine-in seating was nearly taken, and there was a small line to get food too. It's a very casual environment here and you can hear and see the kitchen behind the counter preparing all the food. Staff behind the counter was so kind and my friends and I got to chat with one of them a little bit while placing our orders. I got their chicken and gyoza combo, and asked for the sauce to be on top of my meat. Portions are generous for everything here, including the chicken, rice and even the gyoza. There's a ton of sauce both on the chicken and the salad, though I didn't mind that. Chicken was tender, piping hot and relatively sweet with the sauce, but that's where the rice comes in to balance the taste. Gyozas are standard but came really hot with some sauce on the side. Seating is a little sticky, and you do need to bus your own table. But we all came out full and pretty satisfied with what we had. I'm definitely coming back here for more of their stuff!

Each day they offer a lunch special which is offered at a decent price and will typically include an entree, rice, drink and salad. A couple of things that Yak's offers that alot of teriyaki places don't offer is shu-mai (one of my faves) and cha siu bao (BBQ pork bun) also really good. Something that I do not like is that the food is pre made and sits in a warmer. I do not like this because it makes me wonder how long it's been sitting, when it was made and if it was left over from previous days, etc. Because the food sits in the warmer, the beef teriyaki and the chicken teriyaki doesn't taste as fresh as it would from other places who make the food once ordered. Overall you do get a good amount of food for your money and you have several food options to choose from. This is a place I would at every once in awhile for lunch.

But he started to put two little scoops of steamed rice in my container and I asked about the pink rice with pork bits and color in it. He curtly said he isn't making that anymore. When I told him that was what brings me here he didn't care at all. I'm not so sure about other reviews perceiving him to be racist against black people however that is not uncommon amongst the older Asian community. Portions are large. But you are eating a lot of salt. Sesame noodles are overly salty. The teriyaki chicken is salty. Bang Bang chicken is very salty. The rice helps a bit, but there is no relief to the amount of salt they used. Also, prices are very high. This order was $23.50 approximately, which is far above the average takeout plate in Seattle. If you like variety and customizations, this place is viable, but there are better places out there.
