TL;DR: Iconiq and Chef Kawai create amazing culinary experiences that seamless blend French bistro et al food with Japanese influence (ex. Ikura instead of traditional caviar, and even Shoyu ice cream). The view of downtown is impeccable, but make sure you reserve a view table. The service is amazingly run. Highly recommend their special events with set course menu. My wife and I love iconiq, especially their special events. We first discovered the restaurant in 2022. Their normal service allows you to order ala carte. Reservations via phone or Resy; be sure you reserve a table with a view. The menu is always rotating to include seasonal ingredients. The highlights have been their steak dishes (amazingly cooked steak over mashed potato and vegetables), risotto, seasonal soups, and their shoyu (soy sauce) ice cream. More immaculate are their special events. Every month or so, they host a special dinner event with a set course costing $100-$150. There is usually 4 courses with an optional add-on course featuring truffle, foie gras, or some other delicacy. We have gone to 4+ events and they never disappoint. The set menu is always fresh and innovative. Even when the fusion of French and Japanese isn't to your taste, the ingredients themselves are prepared and cooked perfectly. This makes it a safe culinary experience, since you can always count on the food itself being well cooked. Chef Kawai is the main star at this place. He's gracious and checks in on his guests. He has a great front of house crew as well: very prompt and gracious service, including the standard silverware changes between courses. I highly recommend you check out iconiq the next time you're in Seattle!! And definitely try and book during sunset.

We had an amazing experience at Iconiq! The restaurant is intimate and cozy. The food was fantastic and it was such a special experience talking with Chef Kawai about his food creations! Favorites included the lamb, steak, and salmon dishes, along with the peach melba, and soy sauce ice cream! We enjoyed all the desserts while watching the sunset, and will definitely be back to try his different seasonal menus!

There is what a restaurant experience should be - amazing food, chef interaction, great wine pairing, amazing view. A little gem in Mt. Baker and totally worth checking out. Date night? You found the spot! Don't miss out!

Recently had an amazing meal at Iconiq. The dining room is pretty and relaxed with great views of the city. The selection of wines and sakes was hard to pick from as there were so many terrific choices. The stand-out was the amazing food coupled with outstanding service including chef who is kind, friendly and generous. We had a delicious scallop confit on couscous appetizer, asparagus in white miso with endive and burrata appetizer, fantastic black cod and foie gras over risotto mains followed up by a strawberry blancmange as well as soy ice cream desserts. What a memorable experience!

Just wow. This was one of the best dishes I've ever had at a restaurant! The foie gras risotto dish is an absolute must. The service was excellent we stayed for a long time just chatting. At night time there is a beautiful view of the city! The soy sauce ice cream was fun to try even if you don't like it -- such a great experience I can't recommend this place enough!

This place is amazing! The food is excellent - beautiful presentation and mouth wateringly good. The owner was so gracious and hospitable. The view of the city was unexpected and beautiful. This was the perfect place for a double date (and would be for regular date, families). Very chill but elevated vibe.

Overall experience was very underwhelming. We arrived for a 7pm seating and there were dishes that were not available already. It left us with mostly only risotto dishes and a steak dish. I had reserved a window seating and was seated next to the window of walls but no window. This was a huge disappointment since it was a special occasion and the ambiance was an important piece of it. When we asked for recommendations, the waiter simply told us everything was good. We ordered all of the risottos amongst the table. Overall none stood out that much. One risotto was undercooked and another very mushy and overcooked. Certainly not the experience you would expect for the price. Would not recommend or return.

How did it take me so long to finally visit Iconiq? It's been on my Yelp "restaurants to try" collection list for quite some time. A friend and I were able to get a reservation and visit on a recent rainy, windy Seattle evening. The city lights view from the windows was very pretty, but I'd love to see it again on a clear day. We had an early reservation and were the first table sat for the evening. After ordering a beverage and our meals, we were treated to an amuse bouche of mushroom soup that was really tasty. We both started our meals with the truffle egg (delicious). I ordered the scallops with Brussels sprouts and squash pasta and my friend had the iberico pork with polenta. Both were really yummy but I would have appreciated more than two scallops for the price ($34 + 30% tax/tip = $44). We were also disappointed that there was only one white and one red wine available by the glass. They were nice wines but a bit of variety would be good. Service was friendly, the food tasted oh so good, the views were amazing, and street parking was easy to find. I'll definitely be returning for another meal!

Nice spot in the neighborhood for an intimate, upscale dinner. The space is small, so plan to make reservations. Time it so you can see the sunset from the gorgeous views. In regards to the actual meal, while the food we received was tasty, nothing blew me away. For the price, I was left wanting more flavor and interesting dishes personally.

My new favorite cozy, romantic dining spot. French/Italian/Japanese fusion takes the subtle flavors from each culture to create unique gastronomic experiences. Pair yazu with creme fraiche or ponzu into a tomato demi glace, and you will feel as though you've traveled halfway around the world only to find yourself at home. Tempura black cod over risotto or mixed greens with goat cheese and shiso are Iconiq's version of comfort food. All of this in a Mount Baker location with a view that is an escape from the denizens of the hoity-toity downtown crowd. I'm only sharing this now, more than a year after discovering it, just so I could savor this spot before the Yelp masses descended. These days, just be sure to make a reservation.

Foie gras risotto - MUST GET if you are into creamy, fatty food

Steak? Yes! Truffle?? Yass!! Foie gras?? Abso-fu*kin'-lutely!! Have you had that dining experience where one dish seal the deal and convinced you to come back again, after taking the first bite?? For me, that dish is the Foie Gras Risotto. I seldom describe any food as "out of this world", but this dish may be as close to that as one can get. I was worried the risotto would be too rich when paired with the foie gras, but to my surprise, both the taste and texture worked perfectly. The miso sauce on the foie gras and the wine sauce over the risotto are both a little sweet, which helps to balance the fattiness of the dish. The Prime Rib Filet Mignon was "one of the best steak" he's had this year, according to my husband. We both enjoyed the fried sweetbread on top and the foie gras butter gnocchi too! The Burgundy Truffle Ice Cream was a wonderful way to wrap up the meal. The two appetizers (pork belly confit and cauliflower trio) were mediocre. I'd recommend ordering 3 entrees instead! We also got a free mushroom soup sampler not too long after seated. Service was attentive but not overbearing. We were given the wrong appetizer dish (I should have just eaten it xp right?). The waiter took it back right away and apologized for the mistake. Overall, good dining experience. The view outside the tables next to the window seems great, though you'd have to arrive when they open to see anything in the winter.

There was a complimentary amuse bouche, small root vegetable soup with a crunchy sunchoke chip- flavorful and nice start to the meal. From there we ordered: - hamachi crudo - light, fresh, flavorful - gambas - butterfly grilled and served on a yummy sauce that was a little salty in its own but good to dip bread in - salad - shareable portion and liked the fresh herbs - steak frites - came with a good portion of skirt steak and fries, but was surprised by the cook on the steak- it was well done. The meat was chewy although not tough so did still make a dent in the entree, and was pretty heavily doused in sauce. Fries were fine. Would likely try something else next time - creme brulee - solid execution, would order again - chocolate mousse- ok, was on the sweeter side Overall would return for drinks and apps if in the neighborhood.
