One of whole quoted me at $10k to replace the whole thing, and the other overcharged me just to replace the thermostat only for the issue to continue. Needless to say, I did not have high hopes that I would have much luck when the AC started not to work again and I needed someone to come in again and take a look. My air conditioning unit suddenly stopped working and boost came out to do a diagnostic and give me a quote for repair. It was over 8,000 dollars. I then got three different companies to come out so I could benchmark pricing. All three of them had totally different diagnostics, but the third person who was recommended to me by a friend told me it was a very simple problem that took one hour to repair and cost me $250. My AC is now working perfectly and cooled down the house immediately. My point being I don't know anything about AC repairs, but definitely get second and even third opinions and don't just rely on yelp, but ask friends or neighbors for recommendations. read more
