We love this place, fast and friendly service, good small plates, great vibes, and lovely matcha! It's nice to have found a place that serves Hojicha!

I ordered a jasmine milk tea with boba (coconut milk). It lacked flavor and my boba pearls were poor quality where pieces were mushy, overly hard and sticky.

New spot in Salem and it's great! Love the coffee options, love the sake, love all the food, it's amazing! The Mio Sparkling Sake is so savory and refreshing. We tried something new and ordered the Takoyaki and I highly recommend it. The ambience is great and love all the lighting. Service was quick and friendly. We will be back!

This place was super cute, the service was really quick and the staff were kind. i personally really disliked the kaiju bowl, the rice was mushy, the chicken was rubbery/mushy (not really sure the best wording) and i just didn't like the mix of flavors so i ended up throwing it out after a few bites. however the matcha on the other hand has been the best i've had for awhile, loved it. i would definitely try this place again just something different to eat.

Laughable. Tried twice. Both times sucked. 1st time - we walk in and there was 1 person in line. We stand there waiting to order when other people entered. The dude looks up and says the line is over there. He had SEEN US STANDING THERE since we walked in, knowing we were in line. Also, my chai was DRY. How?!? 2nd visit - ordered the Shokuban toast. It was NOT at all "fluffy Japanese milk bread". It was literally 2 pieces of regular toast with the tiniest bit of the topping. So, if you're picturing the Japanese sandwiches with thick fluffy bread and a nice amount of topping, this isn't it. $5 for 1 slice of toasted bread.

    Love my chai

I had the opportunity to come here on opening weekend about a month ago - in March 2026. The line flowed quickly for checkout, and I ordered a blue chai. It was really delicious. They specialize primary in matcha drinks, but had chai available too. I was so torn on which drink to try. I would have tried two, but I was already quite full from having brunch at Clink! which is in the same building. (Another place I love for their vibe and also the atmosphere.) I live in Portland, but if I was living in Salem I would be visiting on the regular because I love the tree and all the special ornate and unique touches that make it feel like you are in Japan. Just by setting foot in this place- you will feel like you are lost in Japan - in a good way! However, the timing of the opening matched seeing all the Cherry Blossom trees in Salem at the Capitol and getting all the vibes of that at their neighbor restaurant Clink! upstairs - I truly felt like I had taken an international vacation wholeheartedly to Japan - it felt like an epic adventure. I saved a plane ticket and could enjoy a special day just by road tripping in my car. I will be traveling back from Portland this summer again to try out more on the menu. So glad Salem is rejuvenating their city with some unique places that are top notch. Kompai and cheers to welcoming this new place to Salem. It's cool and kawaii. They also have some food options and snacks/beer - think Izakaya bar style - onigiri, rice bowls, edamame, snacky stuff. I'm completely matcha curious though so next time I'll be ordering that but darn, that chai was the bomb and so delicious too so it's tough to choose one drink. The tea drinks are just rocking it here. Loved them!

This place is mid. It's pretty but the coffee is so watered down... 3 milk options but the oak milk is crazy thick????? I tried the miso coffee and it was unenjoyable I am so sorry. It was salty milk. Carrot cake was ok. Don't taste the coffee, all the carrot cake flavor is on top so really have to mix.

Inside Bonzai coffee and tea house inside Forge downtown Salem. A thousand cranes is good luck!

Onigiri 3/$10 and $7.50 for iced Matcha & Strawberry perfect lunch on a soggy Salem day! Self-serve so relaxed atmosphere. Booth tables were used for laptops so seating is iffy.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. They told me they make their own vanilla syrups and roast their own coffee beans. After some quick back and forth, the worker recommended I try their eggplant shakshuka and their iced shaken cappuccino. Both were phenomenal! I honestly am counting down the days til I get to be back in the area for that shaken cappuccino again! The subtle flavor notes from their roasted beans really shines through and is balanced by the cream they use. The eggplant shakshuka was also great. It wasn't too spicy but it was a lot of flavor with each bite. I was so into the sauce that I almost forgot to save some to eat with the toasted baguette slices that came with the plate! Can't wait to go back to try other stuff!

And that's saying a lot. You do not want to know of the torture. Suggestions: 1st: If you want to have a steak on the menu, at least serve the cut that is on the menu. 2nd: if you're worried about food cost, do something pounded, and marinated, OR do a small trimmed cut that is excellent quality, and serve it with a lot of mash and veg, and that bordelaise sauce (which wasn't bad). 3rd: Meatloaf

They catered a special breakfast with handpicked items from their menu. The owner was extremely kind and personable, and made sure to take care of us. She went above and beyond to help one of our players comb through the garbage to find a lost item. We appreciate her business platform of giving back to the community, especially the youth. If you care where your money goes and supporting local, please go here! Not to mention. The food was delicious. We got nearly everything on the menu and loved it so much we came back the next morning. We didn't want to stand in a long line to order so Shane came over to help us. He had us order something similar in the app and then told the coffee side and the kitchen our modifications. The food was amazing. I had the protein bowl with bacon but no egg as requested. They were kind enough to add double bacon. I also ordered avocado but they forgot it and were happy to add it later. Flavors were amazing. The Wenatchee toast was delicious along with the cheddar date gf biscuit. The dirty egg nog chai is fabulous and seasonal so get it before it's gone. You can also do grab and go and find seating in the main room. The food and heart of this place are 5 stars. Giving 4 stars today because of the ordering headache. Shane gets 1000 stars for all his help and patience. Also compliments to the chef. Great flavors!

Kelly was so friendly, so full of life and energy and love. It seemed like everyone loves working there.. The food was absolutely amazing. Amazing from beginning to end this was by far superior to any restaurant I've been to in a long time. The service, the food, the ambience, sure wish it was in my town. Everyone at our table enjoyed their breakfast. We couldn't take it with us unfortunately because we're flying home today, but the portions are huge. Do yourself a favor and visit this cozy place. We told hostess we did not want to sit at the bar, she sat us at the bar, after some more wait, we did get a table. Coffee was ok, but the cups were huge, always 2/3 full of cold coffee. The food took one hour to find our table. Nothing special, my wife had an omelet, with a big glob of Brie cheese, overpowering the omelet. I had corned beef hash that was extremely dry and salty. I also had warm rye bread. Not toasted. We were half done with our breakfast, and was given the bill, and boxes to go. Very rushed, crowded, and expensive. $58 for sub-par breakfast for 2. Sorry WOM, didn't cut it.
