Came in at just the right time! We were a group of 5 who ordered coffee and breakfast. Once we sat down tons of people came flooding in afterwards which we took as a good sign. You order at the counter and then you get a number to take with you and place at whichever seat you choose. Drinks and food both came out really quick. I tried the bees knees which had honey, lavender, rosemary and simple syrup with a dash of black pepper. I did not see nor taste the black pepper but I was a huge fan of this drink. It wasn't overpowering in any of the flavors and the rosemary sprig made it look so cute. I got the breakfast potato hash with no tomatoes and it was a delicious and filling breakfast. The potatoes were so good my group wouldn't stop helping themselves to them. I added some hot sauce as it was in the dryer side but still really good. I also tried the matcha coconut scone. It had a pretty matcha green color but it was hard to taste the matcha or coconut and it was quite dry. Service was quick and friendly. The inside is really beautiful and we couldn't help but do a little photoshoot, so many fun backgrounds! Things to note: Restroom shared with other businesses close by businesses and metered street parking only. read more

Update: Went for dinner, and their food was amazing. Definitely more of a dinner place imo. The dining room was almost completely fully. Tried their low abv cocktail the honeycrisp, and it was delicious. Devoured an entire hummus plate on my own in like 20 mins. Vibes are still kinda bleak each time I go in for coffee. They forgot the peanut butter on my chia pudding when I reordered... read more

Archive Coffee & Bar - creme brulee - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Salem, Oregon

Archive Coffee & Bar I swung by because I thought there was a donut shop here. It turns out that they carry the donuts by the donut makers which the physical location for them is across the street (I will write a separate review foe that business at some point) but I needed a bag of coffee beans for home and wanted a coffee drink. I got an iced cold brew from their menu and it was quite good! The drink had a nice, strong and robust taste to it and was a nice "pick me up" for my day. The bag of beans I got were good also and provided a nice, bold flavor profile to chase away any grogginess that comes with early mornings. read more

Looking for a place to study outside our house and loved that this coffee shop stays open late, the ambiance was inviting and cozy with the booths and had spacious tables for groups with outlets as well. It's just counter service so a bit impersonal but the staff all seemed like they enjoyed working there which is a good sign. The food was pretty good, shared some fries and the peach and spinach salad. Personally, the salad was a bit soggy for me but my husband really enjoyed it. The standouts had to be our coffees! I got the warm & toasty (?) but with matcha and it was delicious, and served in a fun cocktail glass. We will def be coming back! read more

Highly recommend the breakfast chorizo sandwich and the shaken espresso. I went here both days I was in Salem because the first time I tried it I knew I needed to go back. Service was fast and friendly, even when slammed during the Ironman race event. Very cool indoor space, lots of seating including booths. I'll be back! read more

Amazing decor in this place, and friendly service too. When you walk in there are a series of menus to your right, and the same menus are up at the counter as well. You choose what you want and order at the counter and they give you a number. Then they'll bring it to your table. I enjoyed the rice bowl. The tofu seemed to be fried and the sauce on it was spicy. The miso Moon coffee thankfully did not taste like miso, lol. My friend had an espresso and said it was terrible, very sour. Everyone else at our table seemed to enjoy our food, there were a lot of burgers and fries being ordered at the group. They have my daughter's favorite sort of salad, with blue cheese and steak. Sadly, they were out of salmon the day we visited. Would definitely consider coming back if I'm in Salem again. read more

I was traveling for work and was looking for a good coffee/brunch spot to work at for a little bit between job sites. This came up on my research and I was completely blown away. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They told me they make their own vanilla syrups and roast their own coffee beans. After some quick back and forth, the worker recommended I try their eggplant shakshuka and their iced shaken cappuccino. Both were phenomenal! I honestly am counting down the days til I get to be back in the area for that shaken cappuccino again! The subtle flavor notes from their roasted beans really shines through and is balanced by the cream they use. The eggplant shakshuka was also great. It wasn't too spicy but it was a lot of flavor with each bite. I was so into the sauce that I almost forgot to save some to eat with the toasted baguette slices that came with the plate! Can't wait to go back to try other stuff! read more

This is an update review. Let me be very clear: I like this place. HOWEVER... the steak is horrifically terrible. I mean, it's worse than any steak I have ever had; even my grandma's. And that's saying a lot. You do not want to know of the torture. Suggestions: 1st: If you want to have a steak on the menu, at least serve the cut that is on the menu. 2nd: if you're worried about food cost, do something pounded, and marinated, OR do a small trimmed cut that is excellent quality, and serve it with a lot of mash and veg, and that bordelaise sauce (which wasn't bad). 3rd: Meatloaf read more

This is a very classy, moody establishment! We felt at ease with the dim lights, the slightly-metallic hewn wallpaper, metal pipe & chunky wooden shelves holding piles of books & plants. To eat, we ordered the Roasted Garlic Hummus, Cinnamon Bun Cookie, and to drink, we ordered the Old Grand-Dad Bonded & a House Red. We loved dipping the crispy-fresh, elongated & cut-at-an-angle cucumber medallions, thinly sliced radishes, & slightly-toasted baguette slices into the savory hummus! The cookie was amazing- served warm with the ice cream melting over a freshly-baked, caramel drizzled cookie! read more

Only tried a couple of adult beverages. We ordered sundress and three of hearts. Normally, we each have a favorite and just drink that. This time they were both so good we had to share both! The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was an upscale coffee shop. I love the bar touch. The food looked good although we didn't eat. Definitely would come back read more

Cool aesthetic with a one stop shop kind of menu as they do breakfast, lunch, coffee, cocktails. We saw signs that they throw a dress up cocktail night once a month which seems fun. First time we went was really good, the second time wasn't as good. Drinks are very adventurous where sometimes they don't hit their mark. Even so, I'd come back. read more

Ambience was pleasant, mocha was tasty, the young woman who took our order was pleasant, but the teeny little spinach salad with no added protein was definitely not worth $17! I was shocked! It was at best a side salad. My friend ended up sharing part of her breakfast burrito so I wouldn't leave feeling hungry! read more

My wife and I had dinner at Archive yesterday evening for the first time. We both decided to have the special. What an amazing combination of taste and texture. Kudos to the chef. I tend to be a snob when it comes to pork but these chops were perfect with apple/peach chutney and fried sweet potato polenta. The service was excellent. We plan to return soon. read more

Stopped by this restaurant for a quick bite and coffee before a hike. Walking in the ambiance is so cozy and the staff were very friendly! My table ordered the breakfast burrito, breakfast chorizo sandwich, and the fish and chips, all so yummy! The very next day we had to go again and the avocado toast w eggs were the best i've had paired with their warm & toasty latte (i definitely recommend!). I brought a cool new friend I met online here and it was pretty good. Food: I just got a fries snack and she got some tasty tacos. I let her steal some of my fries cuz why not? Just good grub. I need to come back and explore more of their vegan options. I dig the focus on quality food and stuff. The next morning I had a great decaf oat milk latte with things in it before I hit the road back to Seattle. Vibe: The staff were pretty chill & cordial. The space is pretty slick. I like the whole balance to the place top-down. The whole ceiling is painted; blacked out nonetheless (very uncommon to find "unfinished" ceilings in cafes, stores, etc). Large prominent presence of literature (which is customer-friendly btw as they said you can touch and read them [gently!]) throughout the perimeter and center piece. And scattered neat decor things to round it out. Also, it has a shared bathroom for nearby businesses such as Bigwig Donuts across the street. Thumbs up ya'll. read more

I wasn't impressed with Archive. It's counter-order, and the venue does not encourage singles to sit at the bar so single people will take up large booths while camping out on their laptops. I got a breakfast hash, and it had no sauce, so it was essentially just a bowl of potatoes since I couldn't have the cheese. When we asked for waters and condiments, the server had to come back three times because she kept forgetting things. The final time I had to pick a long hair out of my ketchup. This place is lackluster and unhygienic. read more

Cozy and yummy coffee house! We were in town to visit Willamette and needed a breakfast that was not from a diner-type restaurant with vegetarian/vegan options. The Bee's Knees is scrumptious! Not too sweet and very flavorful. Matcha latte was also not super sweet and yummy. Can you tell I don't love sweet drinks? Daughters enjoyed the lemon poppyseed muffin, tasty and not like lemon cake which is often how I find lemon muffins to be. Cauliflower tacos = delish! If she chooses Willamette this will be my choice for coffee and probably hers as well. 10 out of 10 stars! read more

Large portions and quality food. I love getting coffee and this has become a staple place for me. They have a smaller drink menu but the drinks are great! The staff there have been kind and respectful during service. The overall vibe of the restaurant seems to be a dark academia type theme. There are lots of plants and interesting things to look at. The restrooms are clean. A little bit on the pricier side but I think it is worth it! read more

A bar and coffee shop in one!?!? This is the best ever. We tried three different lattes and the most wonderful is the Shanghai Fog which is an oolong tea latte. Where do I even start?! I love their coffee, I come in and fresh beans every month. The bar staff are always on the move and keeping up with the busy rush on the weekends evenings, I love sitting at the bar solo and enjoying some a cocktail with dinner. Their cappuccinos are wonderfully brewed, highly recommended you at least come in for coffee if you can't make it for dinner. The butternut squash risotto for dinner is a favorite of mine, it's hard not to eat it all. Strawberry smoke is a tasty tequila mix drink I highly recommend. ok, so there are a few things in this world i am ALWAYS down for....COFFEE is one of them! I love a good local coffee place..... and i wandered in here while i was waiting on my son (who ran down to the game store). I usually drink my coffee black, but sometimes in the afternoon, i prefer a little creamy sweetness as a treat. i can unashamedly (and unabashedly) tell you that i am now ADDICTED to the "Warm and Toasty"!!! this drink..... must be what coffee heaven tastes like!! i want it all the time, now!! i hope they never take it off the menu!! And, i wish they served a larger size! Aside from the great drinks, the decor in Archive is..... how shall i say..... REALLY COOL!! a mix of retro and mod..... and just a hip place to be!! I wish i lived closer (i'm outside of salem) but my wallet (and my waistline) is probably glad that i don't!! pinkies up on this one!! haha read more

The food is pretty good, the coffees are very unique and tasty. The ambience is nice and the place has a great vibe. I was a bit annoyed one time because I ordered a breakfast croissant and I asked for a fried egg instead of scrambled in the croissant, and the person taking my order obliged. But when I received the croissant, it came with scrambled eggs. I told them that I thought the kitchen made a mistake. So someone at the bar took it back to the kitchen, came back to me and told me that the kitchen manager would not give me a fried egg. This is one of the coolest establishments I've ever been to. It has such a rustic feel to it. These folks make the best iced London Fog that I have ever, will ever, get the privilege of consuming.

The Espresso French Toast was amazing! The bourbon caramel sauce it comes with flows straight from Valhalla, I swear. Service was great, food came to us and quickly for Sunday brunch.
