I drink a lot of coffee and love a good coffee shop. This is hands down my favorite place to go for coffee in Salem.

What a unique coffee shop , something you would normally find in Portland is actually in Salem. Ordered a vanilla latte. It was perfectly done. Was surprised to see there are three rooms. Service was great. They were very busy. Obviously people have found this place way before I did.. Would've liked to have had more than two donuts to choose from. Maybe next time it was kind of late when we arrived. Can't wait to take my friends there and show them the cute coffee shop. Highly recommend this place. read more

Interior decorations are on point! Service is super friendly and they offer free sparkling water on tap! All the lattes we've tried were a bit on the sweeter side but delicious! My favorite was the pumpkin chai. The bakery items were delicious too. I will come back if I'm in this area! read more

I've been trying to find my new daily coffee shop and wanted to like this place. Overall experience was a little disappointing. Their atmosphere had a very strange vibe that didn't feel very inviting. The staff seemed a little distant and it didn't feel like a welcoming place to stop in. Offbeat Coffee is a busy coffee shop on a Sunday morning. There is limited parking in the front and back lot, but there is 2 hour street parking if you have trouble finding a spot. The line was super long when we first got there, but there is lots of seating towards the back, making it not too difficult to find a seat! You can also make reservation for a large group ahead of time, if you're worried about seating. I ordered their brown sugar latte, which was okay. I felt that my latte ratio had more milk than coffee and was not really able to taste the brown sugar syrup. The coffee was good for the price, as $6 for a large latte is rare to see. The coffee menu is simple with espresso on tap or tea. The aesthetic is retro with records and unique paintings surrounded with lots of green plants, making it a cozy spot on a rainy day. read more

YELP SHORT ANSWER: Yes please visit, it just seems very organic and quiet. LOCATION: Storefront on 12th street but very quiet inside and out. FACILITY: Better than most, not designed to get your money and kick you out, no, rater very inviting with everyone considerate to those working or having conversations. MENU: It is a coffee / espresso shop and menu is appropriately designed to accommodate those expectations. FOOD PREP: Nicely done, drinks and pastries delivered to our table. FOOD QUALITY: Espresso pull was well done, smoother good roasting and flavor. Not sure if they make the pasties but I have no problem enjoying a scone. WAITSTAFF: All very nice... maybe all owners but please tip well, This is not Starbucks, way better, but pretty sure not a huge moneymaker so they rely on repeat business. I've made it a goal to try every cafe in Salem before my kid graduates from WU, and this one is in my top 10 so far. Friendly service and a very welcoming vibe overall. Dropped by here while getting a hitch put on at U-Haul. Their sister company is Furbish across the street so after giving them a peruse I headed across the street. Very eclectic upon entry. A great variety of snacks. They are getting started so a few offerings aren't available yet like iced tea but I hear that's coming. They have a variety of baked goods and they have a cart outside that offers sandwiches. I think the cart is unrelated but rather a companion of the shop. All in all a really cool venue. Service was so good! I was warmly greeted upon entering, which was the cherry on top of walking into such a well decorated, aesthetically pleasing, welcoming coffee shop! The place is actually bigger than it seems when you first come in as there are a couple of other sections of seating besides the main area that you first walk into. Coffee wise, I just got a 12oz iced hazelnut latte and honestly was a little disappointed. Not enough coffee flavor, tasted a bit too milky but the barista was very kind when I let her know I wasn't happy with my drink! They have a very simple looking menu, with some seasonal specials, but the more you look they actually have a good variety of drinks other than coffee as well! I tried the apricot rosemary scone from the small selection of bakery items that they had - a little hard, probably would have been better a little warmed up but the flavor was good! I enjoyed the atmosphere here so much that I'm willing to give them another try and order a different coffee next time! read more

The coffee flavor was nice it's very nutty. If you like plain lattes this place is perfect because you really couldn't taste the hazelnut all too much. This is a hidden gem of a coffee shop. It is in a mostly commercial/industrial area a little bit south of the Amtrak station and Willamette University. The coffee is excellent -- always hot and fresh. The pastry selection is extensive and, while a little pricey, top-notch in terms of quality. The decor is funky but clearly a result of significant investment and thought. This place has no sign, however, so it is difficult to find. I worry that it will not succeed if people can't find it, but it seems to be drawing customers. Hopefully they will roll a sign out of some sort so that people can find it. read more

What a cute little coffee/tea shop. First time in and I would definitely give back. We were a group of 5 and all had something different. I went with the London fog. Very good. It's cute inside, but... I will not be coming back here. It was cold inside (uncomfortably so) which is not conducive to relaxing with a cup of coffee. They, contrary to the photos Google, do not offer any sort of breakfast sandwiches or food other than cold pastries. They do not even have a microwave, so don't ask for your pastry heated, that's not an option. Wanting a flavored mocha, I asked about syrup options ... they have two options, vanilla and hazelnut, that's it, two. The staff was friendly but overall I was disappointed. Having a microwave ($60) and a syrup selection ($100) is not unreasonable and would have significantly improved our experience. I took my wife to Offbeat Coffee this afternoon. We had a great time! I had an excellent house coffee and my wife said she had "The best chai I've ever had". We had fun playing a game of Trouble (they have board games available) and we looked at A LOT of vinyl records. As I already said, the drinks were AMAZING! The decor was perfect! My husband and I were making the long drive from CA to WA for Christmas and we stopped in Salem to get a coffee as we were headed north. We stopped here and it was so fantastic that we stopped again on the way south back home!! The coffee is so good and they have several gluten free options that are delicious!
