What a fun place serving up coffee, tea, pastries, and all this in a sea of LPs and 45s. You can even play then on turntable and listen on headphones. Some of the records are for sale. Funky fun decor too! Make sure to check out the bathroom.

How I heard of this place: We were in Salem for a work trip and needed a spot to spend a couple of hours post-walk through the gardens, parks and trails of the area. An internet search and quick glance at reviews, brought us here. Type of cuisine: "Traditional Espresso is for Nerds: Forget traditional espresso machines. We rock espresso on tap, a bold twist brewed from cold brew concentrate. It's our brand of rebellion, served in a cup. Expect a flavor that defies expectations. Come try it for yourself and if you don't like it... you can challenge our mad coffee scientist to a fight." The cafe offers novel coffee options, uncaffeinated selections for children and others, as well as a small selection of pastries. Ambiance: "We set this place up to revolve around one word, Offbeat. Our offbeat decor, offbeat espresso on tap, and offbeat vinyl records. Read below if you're interested in that kinda thing. Offbeat Decor: In a nutshell, our decor rebels against the norm. Picture a jungle of indoor plants, quirky art, and seating that makes no sense but somehow works. It's not your average coffee shop vibe--it's an art project that serves coffee. Vinyl Vibes: Music is our heartbeat. Dive into our vinyl room, where every record is a story. Here, coffee and tunes share the stage, offering a sip and sound experience that's entirely Offbeat." What I ordered: A Unicorn ($4) for my little one - a white chocolate steamer with tons of whipped cream and sprinkles, topped with a piece of white chocolate. For me, the warm "Cardi cold foam" and to share: a Turkey Gouda croissant & a cinnamon twist. What I loved: The cardi cold foam was creamy and sweet, and wonderfully warm after a cold walk and play at the neighborhood park. The cinnamon twist was a bit tough, and the turkey gouda cold and boring. The little one loved the Unicorn and was eager for another right away. Why I loved it: The space is truly offbeat, vibrant, colorful, full of life and with nooks and crannies, rooms and spaces that needed to be explored. Cost: Average

Met up with a friend on a recent visit and really enjoyed this business and its location. Simple, great espresso and pastries, everything that it should be and nothing more, Perfect! YELP SHORT ANSWER: Yes please visit, it just seems very organic and quiet. LOCATION: Storefront on 12th street but very quiet inside and out. FACILITY: Better than most, not designed to get your money and kick you out, no, rater very inviting with everyone considerate to those working or having conversations. MENU: It is a coffee / espresso shop and menu is appropriately designed to accommodate those expectations. FOOD PREP: Nicely done, drinks and pastries delivered to our table. FOOD QUALITY: Espresso pull was well done, smoother good roasting and flavor. Not sure if they make the pasties but I have no problem enjoying a scone. WAITSTAFF: All very nice... maybe all owners but please tip well, This is not Starbucks, way better, but pretty sure not a huge moneymaker so they rely on repeat business. OVERALL VALUE: Very good for the experience. TIP: Side street parking can be a challenge so plan on maybe a short walk on business days... It is Salem so an umbrella is a good idea.

Offbeat Coffee is a busy coffee shop on a Sunday morning. There is limited parking in the front and back lot, but there is 2 hour street parking if you have trouble finding a spot. The line was super long when we first got there, but there is lots of seating towards the back, making it not too difficult to find a seat! You can also make reservation for a large group ahead of time, if you're worried about seating. I ordered their brown sugar latte, which was okay. I felt that my latte ratio had more milk than coffee and was not really able to taste the brown sugar syrup. The coffee was good for the price, as $6 for a large latte is rare to see. The coffee menu is simple with espresso on tap or tea. The aesthetic is retro with records and unique paintings surrounded with lots of green plants, making it a cozy spot on a rainy day.

Strawberry Fields (matcha). Delicious! The whole place definitely heard me sucking up the very last drop.

Their staff are always the friendliest! Always knowledgeable about their drinks and they are happy to offer recommendations if you're just not sure what to order. Today the back (garage) door was open; the weather is perfect for it! The art is fun to take in, as well as the decorations. I adore the ambiance. It is the perfect place to relax.

Dropped by here while getting a hitch put on at U-Haul. Their sister company is Furbish across the street so after giving them a peruse I headed across the street. Very eclectic upon entry. A great variety of snacks. They are getting started so a few offerings aren't available yet like iced tea but I hear that's coming. They have a variety of baked goods and they have a cart outside that offers sandwiches. I think the cart is unrelated but rather a companion of the shop. All in all a really cool venue. I look forward to stopping back again.

I've made it a goal to try every cafe in Salem before my kid graduates from WU, and this one is in my top 10 so far. Friendly service and a very welcoming vibe overall. I love the decor and there is a ton of seating all throughout the cafe. My Hibiscus Fizz was really good, and my husband liked his coffee as well. Nice spot to relax, I would definitely return.

The coffee is great! Because that's important. But also this is the most useful coffee shop for entertainment purposes I have ever been in. If you want a fun atmosphere for a sit down, some time to knock out those emails, a way to enjoy beverages while being an old school audiophile, whatever, this is it. It's a stimulating, welcoming, fun atmosphere made out of all the ideas people who wanted to create something great could come up with. Plus the decor is amazing. And it's not just coffee! Their menu is solid and the people serving it are upbeat and efficient. Go in, check it out, bring your friends.

I'm a self proclaimed coffee snob, specifically of the latte variety. I absolutely loved this place. The coffee was incredible with house made syrup, and the pastry options were so creative and DELICIOUS. Very very cute ambience too. Highly recommend and can't wait to come back.

Iced hazelnut latte with an extra shot and oat milk

The coffee flavor was nice it's very nutty. If you like plain lattes this place is perfect because you really couldn't taste the hazelnut all too much. I let my sister try it and she took the coffee for herself. Anyway, definitely order your drink extra sweet if you wanna taste the flavor. Otherwise really yummy beverage! The ambiance was really nice in there though. Very busy and lots of people. Would come back :)

What a fun place to sip your coffee!

The vibes are on point here! I was immediately dazzled by the ambiance, with artful decor and cool jazz music. The friendly cashier helped me choose a drink from the unique menu. I settled on a Mint Condition; cold brew with a vanilla-mint cold foam that tasted fresh like real mint and not too sweet. There's lots of seating and a well-curated vinyl record library with listening stations. I'd definitely want to come back and hang out here next time I'm in Salem.

Both were great, but I'd give a slight nod to the original. The one buried in powdered sugar helps keep the texture of the Beignet. The Pickle Gambit - super thinly lengthwise sliced pickles in a light batter. Comes with chipotle aioli and ranch. Good portion size. One of the best fried pickles I've ever had. Ned's 5-Alarm Chicken - really good crust and very flavorful. One regret is we didn't go waffles with this. Lemon Poppyseed Slaw - tastes like a classic slaw. A little sweet and creamy. Goes really well with the heavier dishes that we got. The Shrimp Incident - small shrimp and sliced sausage with a Cajun cream sauce and crostini. We thought this was ok Country Mac - my favorite part was the fried chicken as it was very tender and flavorful. The shell shaped pasta was cooked al dente - it was firmer than I would like partly due to the pasta being on the thick side. The Mac is Cajun forward and not very cheesy. Staff was very friendly. We enjoyed our meal, but it was definitely on the heavier side and could have used something to balance it out.

None of the trendy hipster "coolness" that has come to rankle me in other popular coffee shops. I've had some delicious pastries and excellent drinks, including coffee and non-coffee specialties like their golden milk latte which is unique and amazing. Comfy space, high ceilings , exposed brick. My only feedback is that they serve their bagels to go with a cup of cream cheese and a sliced bagel. This is common, but I don't understand why anyone would want to spread cream cheese on their own bagel when they're on the road. It would be like ordering a sandwich and a stack of meat, cheese, lettuce, and bread and asked to assemble that while you're driving. That's literally my only complaint and it's a small one. I will be a Regular at this coffee shop, bagels be damned! lol.

They have a good amount of vegan and gluten then friendly alternatives too. The prices were a steal for the portions I got -especially the toast and chia pudding. The coffee was also pretty good, nothing to write home about. I'll have to come back to try some of their bagels next time.
