The first and second time I went to Broadway Coffeehouse, the baristas were both nice and very welcoming. The drinks they made were both delicious. It's my third time here and the barista was very impassive/stoic. It's like she was not happy that I was ordering food/drink. She also asked if I wanted the pastry to go or on a plate - told her I want it on a plate as I was eating there, and she put it in a bag. I thought she was in a bad mood - but she was laughing with the other baristas right after. The ambiance is great per usual. Giving 4 stars because of the two baristas before this experience. This place is humongous! There's an outside amphitheater and fountain and a whole second floor. The service was quick, it probably took about 3 minutes for 2 drinks. They were yummy, but not out of ordinary. My only complaint would be not having any whip or foam. If I owned a coffee shop that would be a must-have. read more

I had been very excited to come. The building itself is fantastic. Very clean very modern. I ordered a blackberry and jasmine sparkling tea. For $4.25 I got a miniature tasteless drink. My daughter ordered a nitro caramel cold brew. The first drink was wrong it was made with chocolate instead. When she received her correct coffee all she could taste was burnt0 coffee. Also priced at $4.25.. The only redeeming quality this place had was the Marion Berry with lemon drizzle donut from Doughhook donuts off of lancaster dr. I'm here quite a bit since it's just a walk away from my home; overall, it's a decent coffeeshop option. Large, open space, lots of seating (for larger groups and solo folks or pairs), and excellent espresso drinks, and kombucha on tap along with a nice selection of pastries and bagels. A few quirks - they seem to regularly be out of plates at 9am, so my "for here" pastry is often handed to me in a paper bag. They've got two high chairs for kiddos, but one has broken straps despite me letting several different staff know about it over the past few months. And, although the pastries are great (Dough Hook!), avoid the morning glory muffin - it's raw-ish in the middle about half the time. (Darn that tricky gluten-free baking.) Also, Broadway Commons - the building that houses the coffeehouse - is owned by Salem Alliance Church (which is across the street), so the place often has a church-y vibe. Lots of Bible study groups, individuals reading Jesus-y looking books, etc. And although there's a large parking lot, spots can be hard to find around church service times. read more

I think Salem has lots of great coffee shop gems, but Broadway I think is the best. The service is good, lines can be long but there's a reason for it. My cappuccino never has burnt sour notes and they serve Coava cold brew- the most chocolatey delicious cold brew you'll have. The baristas are excellently trained and they have amazing bagels from dough hook. The coffeehouse is a great place to meet friends or colleagues, but if you need to make calls it can be loud and echoey from the tall ceilings. I love this place lots and will be so excited to come back when visiting the area. read more

This is a very interesting coffee and tea house in Salem. It has a lot of space for studying and hanging out with a wide variety of comfy seating situations. On a Sunday afternoon it was filled with college kids and study groups. It made me feel old. I spent 6 years of my life in college, caffeinated, overextended, and tired. Well I am still tired, overextended, and caffeinated I guess :( But at least my degrees are done! I was here with a companion waiting for my child and friends to be done with their anime con in Keizer. I had already had coffee in Portland but was up for tea and a snack. It was just right. We liked the little teapots and cups, and the cookies were pretty good. I would come back. I did tell the kids they have to get themselves to the con next time though. read more

Yeah, I was outside at this place. Coffee is good enough but it's 86° and I'm sitting outside by the water fountain and I get told I have to put my shirt on because as she said.' it's a business'! What does that have to do with anything? I'm not indoors I'm outside. You offer outdoor seating and I'm a paying customer and you want me to be uncomfortable while I drink your coffee or patronize your business and your reason for that is 'it's a business' so when does a business outside of being indoors require you to Have a dress code? There is no sign on the door. There is no notice of anything and I'm not disturbing anyone nor am I grotesque looking no one's complaining no one's uncomfortable as far as I know, I won't be going back to this place because of how she handled it and their policy and I won't recommend it either. There are a variety of sitting option to fit anything from a date, to studying but it is pretty worn out no matter where you choose. There is outdoor seating for the summer but no umbrellas for screen reflection if you need to work or study. They have alternative milk and a parking lot in back in addition to street parking but since it's owned by the church the parking lot is used by both rendering parking usually anywhere from difficult to impossible. read more

The coffee is better than Starbucks, prices at the top end, but I come for a purpose and expect to pay for that privilege. The service is nice and folks are engaging--unless I see someone juggling, I'm not going to refer to a person pouring coffee as talented. I'm also not going to refer to other reviews, but my own experience. I have just sat with coffee and contemplated, I've studied, met with individuals and met in the meeting rooms. All very good experiences, but know this is a large open space, so it can become abuzz and even loud. But upstairs there are chairs that might minimize that. Too bad the fireplace isn't ablaze. Considering this place has presumably many regular costumers and seems very full all the time, it seems like this place could have good product. That is true, the coffee is very good. However I felt as though I wasn't welcomed in terms of being a new customer. The employees talked to me as if I was supposed to know how everything works in the building. I looked around for written signs in the area and found none. I had asked if they could put almond milk in my coffee and they said it was in the creamer. After closely inspecting there is no sign on the creamer stating that it's almond milk. Not only is that slightly misleading but could potentially cause problems. I am very close to people with severe tree nut allergies. If there was no sign who's to say that someone could have an allergic reaction on accident read more

I come every at least once a week to study when I'm in town and it's my favorite place to be at. There is tremendous amount of parking and indoor/outdoor seating. There is free WiFi here as well, I generally get a bagel or soft drink from their mini fridge since I don't drink coffee/tea. One of the few downsides would be their bathrooms here have a lock code and you can only use it if you purchase something. Another would include their VERY limited drink menu since they specialize specially in coffee/tea. I would choose an Italian soda over a coffee any day. read more

There is not a lot of flavored syrup options but the quality of the coffee is really good here. I've had many cold brews and their cold brew infused with nitrogen is the best I've had so far.
