Plenty of well deserved five star reviews mixed with some hilarious 1-3 star reviews, so I must add my opinion to the chorus 'cause these bagels are what my dreams are made of XD If you love sourdough, you should absolutely put Bones on the top of your "must visit ASAP" list. I have loved sourdough since the womb. I especially love sourdough crust when it is ~just right~, which is kinda sorta hard to do. Bones' bagels give the perfect proportion of moist, tart, bouncy inside and chewy, golden crust in every bite. Pro tip: take the bagels home and top them as you see fit. This is the only way I'll have Bones after a few too many outrageously-toasted-in-house. If you're lucky, your untoastrd bagel will be warm and all you'll need is a tub of cream cheese or your favorite butter (Beurre d'Isigny, duh) to reach peak indulgence. Line might feel long and slow, but you should blame the patrons, not the staff. Staff routinely moves as fast as they can each time I visit, but I also don't go mid-Saturday when everyone abs their mother is out and about in Noe. Ambience really depends on patrons, as well. My only gripe: Salted rosemary should be a weekly option and not a special. We get 6 at a time and they don't last more than 2 days.

Best bagels I have had in the city! A cute local spot in Noe with a limited menu but a solid one. The salmon sandwich with the chili oil added on was perfectly dressed. Additionally love the heirloom tomato sandwich in the summer! Bagels are soft and flavorful and the service is quick despite the small lines. Perfect place to start your weekend.

Wow. I came on a Sunday around 1pm, no wait, got my bagel in like five minutes. Place was cute and servers were friendly! Everything bagel cream cheese tomato sandwich, $10! Wow. I added my own can of sardines to make this a real meal. Amazing. This just became my favorite bagel shop in sf. I don't care for any of the other places. This bagel reminded me a bit of courage bagels in LA (holy grail of bagel). I will be coming back many many times.

Bones Bagels probably has my favorite bagels in the city. They are a bit different than regular bagels as they are sourdough bagels, making them a lot softer and chewier than regular bagels. You can get a few different flavors, but I usually go for everything and sesame which provides a nice toasted flavor that really enhances the bagel. The think that really sets it apart from their competitors however, it's the fresh toppings they serve on their bagel sandwiches. I love a classic lox bagel, that is usually my go-to order, and while theirs is delicious, their vegetarian bagel sandwiches are the ones that really blow me away. With impossibly fresh tomatoes, flakey sea salt, and flavorful olive oil, this makes for an absolutely incredible bagel. Lines aren't too long especially if you come on a week day, and the shop is very cute with limited seating, but I always like to take my bagel and bring it to Noe Valley center where we can sit down.

I don't usually think of bagels as seasonal, but tomato season is bagel season in my world. My favorite way to eat one is open-faced with avocado or cream cheese and slices of seasoned peak-summer tomato. Enter: Bones Bagels. Their seasonal bagel right now involves tomatoes, so it felt like the right time to give them a try. The open crumb and sourdough flavor were really good, and even the plain bagel had an interesting crust going on. The veggie bagel sando tied perfectly into that tomato craving: fresh, well seasoned, with a speckling of dill. I also really liked the cream cheese. I don't know if they make it in-house but it tasted more like soft feta than Philadelphia, which is a big plus in my book because I don't love cream cheese. My only gripe was that the tomato was cold, which made me think it had been refrigerated. That takes away from the beautiful flavor of summer tomatoes :'() For a wild card menu item- they also do a "bagel dog"- a hot link sausage wrapped in bagel dough. And do not skim over the choc chip cookie. Lotsa chocolate chunks, and soft and gooey inside. It kinda upstaged the bagel (!). Seating is pretty limited, so be ready to take it to go or eat standing.

My favorite bagel place ever! You can tell they put a lot of effort into both the food & the space. The aesthetic is so cute and I love the hand drawn menu. I always get the salmon bagel. The lemon wedge and olive oil really add some flavor & the bagel is always crunchy and so fresh. My girlfriend loves cold brew and is extremely picky about which ones she likes and theirs passes the test. Highly recommend this place!

SOURDOUGH BAGELS! It is borderline too chewy to the point where I was worried I'd have fillings falling out of my teeth; it's almost Montreal bagel-like. The price and wait are better than Courage Bagels in LA, but there's the same chewiness and elevated lox experience. The cream cheese is salty and almost like cheese (instead of cream, like what Boichik is like). The little glug of olive oil really elevates the experience. The pickled onions bring the right touch of acid, and I much prefer cucumber to tomato on lox. There can be a line but it's never bad! The interior of the shop is also very cute.

Line moved relatively quick on a weekend afternoon! Liked the interior with space to wait, benches outside to eat. - seedy bagel: got this with dan dan cream cheese which had mild flavor, needed a kick. The bagel itself was too chewy and dry, not sure if it was just this batch because the bagel on my sandwich was fine - salmon sandwich: loved the balance of the pickled onions with the capers, thin cucumber and dill. The olive oil nicely dressed it all! The bagel was nicely toasted, good layer of cream cheese and lox was fresh! Would come back for this

tldr popular sourdough bagel spot serving up classics in noe valley with subtle sour flavor and hard bite in a cute ambiance and merch, and friendly staff overall i have high expectation as an east coaster - a good bagel is hard to find. bones bagel was not bad...it was a bit harder and flatter than what i am used to but the scallion cream cheese was great and had a decent ratio to bagel. the line was quite long so clearly others love this place. the ambiance was very cute and great! their merch was great. overall i would venture here if i was ever in noe valley but it didnt blow me away. just not bad! i'll try their other pastries next time. food 3.5/5 service 4/5 ambiance 5/5 value 3.5/5

You know something is bomb when you end up wearing part of it. I promised myself to wait until getting home to try Bones Bagels but these bad bois were fresh out of the oven and hot. I tore into one in the car and ended up with sesame seeds all over my lap, face, and car. Oops! I know some people are serious when it comes to bagels and will take off their Patagonia jacket to throw down on defending the "best". I can't say what's the "best" bagel because I'm a city girl not a New Yorker but I will say, I really enjoyed Bones Bagels...because SOURDOUGH. Grand opening 6/13/25 in Noe, Bones Bagels started out as pop-up from the owner's apartment. I read he milled his own grains with a stationary bike AND delivered all the bagels himself throughout the city...on bike. If you know the city, the hills are no joke! L I N E I overheard the first person in line arrived at 7:30 am. I arrived about 10 minutes before opening and was 5th in line. By their 8 am opening, I counted about 45-50 people in line. M E N U Bagels: Plain, everything, and sesame ($3 each), Bagel Dogs ($6, after 11 am), Bagel Sandwiches ($10-$16), and Housemade Cream Cheese (8 oz - $6). Coffee and OJ available. Bialys to come. F O O D * Bagels: 2 Everything and 3 Sesame ($3 each) Fresh out of the oven, the sesame bagel had the most satisfying crackly crust with a chewy, stretchy dense center and nice tang. The sesame seeds don't adhere to the bagel well so they ended up everywhere. I bought the everything bagels to give to a friend. I noticed the bottom and some of the edges were burnt, possibly caused by the rack position? * Sourdough Chocolate Chip Cookie ($3) Slightly crisp edges, thick center studded with auburn color chocolate chips. Wish the dough was tangier to balance the sweet chocolate. * Plain Cream Cheese (Tub-$8) I appreciate the housemade cream cheese and I liked the mild sour flavor but the texture wasn't my jam. It was dry and curdled, low-key reminds of Daily Driver's cream cheese. Not sure if it's kinks or just their style. S E R V I C E Fast and efficient if just ordering loose bagels. A M B I A N C E Rustic with a merch wall and three benches (one inside and two outside). P A R K I N G Difficult residential street parking. Overall, as a big back sourdough lover, I really enjoyed Bones Bagels' texture and flavor. Will def return soon for their bagel dogs made with a hot link!

Veggie sandwich, everything bagel with chive cream cheese

SO happy to have this neighborhood gem that's walking distance from me! I love a good bagel and I love sourdough, so these sourdough bagels are IT for me. I will say they are the chewiest bagels I've had, even for sourdough bagels. I wouldn't mind a liiittle less chew but they're still great for me to visit at least once a week. Love the heavy on "everything" on the everything bagel and the green onion & chive cream cheese is on point. We wanted to try their chili crisp cream cheese but looks like it's off the menu at least for now. Would love to see this come back! It's fun that they try a unique flavor every once in a while. Prices are fair for the bagel & cream cheese at $5 which is great to see considering Noe can be overpriced. I also love the veggie bagel although this is $12 Inside is small and although there's a small bench, it's mostly grab & go. The place is decorated cute and I love any business that's not afraid to speak up and add a Free Palestine sign, especially a new business. It genuinely makes me proud this is part of our neighborhood. You can bet I'll keep coming back!

    Smoked Salmon Sandwich

Amazingly the best bagel ever...crispy on outside perfect inside. Seeds stay on bagel with every bit! The Salmon sandwich was truly incredible. The hint of pickled red onions, fresh dell and capers on high quality fresh smoked salmon was magical. I am craving to go back!!

San Francisco is known for a few food items worldwide. One of these items is the sourdough bread. The city of San Francisco uses sourdough bread as a friendly wager when professional sports teams from other cities are in the playoffs and finals against San Francisco teams. Boudin comes to mind especially around the tourist traps in San Francisco . Although New York is known for best bagels I had there is a new place in San Francisco's Noe Valley with a different spin to sourdough and it's a bagel. Bare Bones offers sourdough bagels which is a great combination. Tasty and a bit crunchy but the cheese spread makes it very delicious. It's a different kind of bagel but in a good way. From apartment to pop- ups Bare Bones found a new home in a brick and mortar in Noe Valley no bones about it. Go to this new hidden gem in San Francisco on 741 Diamond. Not all sourdough is the same so don't be mislead especially when comes to San Francisco sourdough bread Expect on weekends long lines ahead but it's all worth it the bagel and sourdough with a cream cheese spread
