Build your own hotpot bowl! it's a bit pricey but worth it if you're not feeling all you can eat. I always get takeout through uber and portion sizing is reasonable

Food - $$-$$$ the concept of this restaurant was mentioned to me from a friend. He described it as a build your own soup with items of your choice & then the resto adds the soup base to make it into soup. Toppings include veggies, meat cuts, fish balls assorted, beef, seafood balls, noodles, etc. everything a hot pot place has to offer. You take your selected items, weigh it, then they charge you~ I got a little excited so mine rang up to approx $35. So be careful of how much you're really putting into your bowl!! After they take your items, bring it to the back and make a soup (takes about 10 min) & you are able to choose your spice level as well. Overall flavour was great, toppings were very good as well. Only flaw was the pricing of how much it can get. It can get pricey if you want to dabble in plenty of items. But worth it in a sense ~ Service - self serve Parking - back lot! Free. Or Green P if you wanna pay Come here if you love a build your own soup customization. I would come back if I was feeling some good custom soup !

This little inconspicuous spot has some delicious noodles. It's truly a build your own adventure, starting with the noodles and down to the vegetables and meats. There's an incredible range of topics from your staples (sliced beef) to some more unique things (crab roe balls). The soup base is rich and it's SPICY. I got mild and it was perfect for me, but be ware, it does have a kick.

As with their other location, you can pick any items for $3.29/100g and then they cook it for you and it is then served in their bone soup base. They have a very big selection of items to pick from and so many different types of sausages and fish balls!! Compared to a few other brands of this kind of food, it is a little pricier but they do have a bigger selection. I highly recommend the wide potato noodle! After picking the items you want in a bowl with tongs provided near the front of the store, you get it weighed and then pay. You will be asked to choose from four different levels of spicy (none, mild, hot and fire hot). Cash is 10% off at the moment. You get a little number tag and can be seated while waiting for your order/take out. FYI, if you order through online delivery platforms, you get charged per item rather than weight.

I absolutely loved the enormous amount of options to choose from for the malatong broth. There were so many different types of fish and meat balls to choose from, as well as vegetables, meats, and noodles. I definitely had the urge to want to grab everything. The broth was also a good amount of spice for choosing the medium hot option and was pretty flavorful! You will need to be mindful of how much you choose to include in your malatang for weighing as it is somewhat pricey. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place for malatang and will most likely come back for more in the future!

Taste wise, I'd give it a 4-star, but the steep prices it charges makes me subtract 1 star. If you're a small eater or only here for a snack, then you'd be looking at low $10 with tips/tax. If you eat slightly more you'd be looking at more than $15. If you want to be completely full or if you're a big eater, then a minimum of $20 is for sure warranted. They even charge $2 for rice, which is quite ridiculous given how most people just add noodles to their malatang (maybe that's the point, they want you to add more weight instead of getting the rice). The process is easy. You gather the ingredients (veggies, hotpot material, meat, fish balls, noodles...etc), give them to weigh, and get charged on how much you take. They would then do "malatang" and adjust the spiciness based on your liking. The food was delicious and I really liked the sauces and the soup. I support the concept and the freedom of "building your own bowl". The store is small, but decorated nicely and clean. You need to strategize on what you get in order to minimize the cost while maximizing the value. Avoid the heavy veggies, tofu, corn...etc, and take more meats, enoki or spinach. Even then, it's hard to gauge how much you should take and the price stresses me out when I'm taking my food. This is why I'd only give it 3 star. Malatang is a popular Sichuan streetfood and shouldn't be expensive at all. It's very easy to make (you can do this at home too) by literally dipping the ingredients in the soup until it's good to go. It is very similar to hotpot, so I cannot forgive the expensive prices. A solution for them is to put a scale there for customers to measure themselves before finally paying up.

This place offers noodle soup where you choose your own ingredients at $3.29/100g. There were plenty of tofu, meat/fish ball, sausage, vegetable, and noodle options, but sliced meat was limited. I weighed my things and the worker let me put things back because it worked out to be quite expensive. Cash was 10% off. I got a mild spicy collagen bone soup. There was a fly somewhere in my soup, likely because the items are left in the open uncovered...

You pick your ingredients, weigh it and they cook it for you with the selected broth. The ingredients are fresh and the service is good (the server was helpful). You get your own water from the side station. Basically this is a mini hot pot that costs $2.99/100gram (minimum of 400 gram-$12.99 and no maximum). Overall decent but found it a bit pricy for what it is.

I love Bone Soul Malatang !!!!! Their soup is the greatest. I love the location, easy access. I love the various options to put in and make my own version of Malatang. I also love the spicy level and cleanness of the restaurant as well.

It was my first time coming to the restaurant. Love the restaurant design, so cozy. New way of eating malatang. You get to pick whatever you want for your bowl, and they would cook It for you with the bone broth. You have a choice of really spicy to non spicy. Lots of selection for veggies, meat balls, noodles etc. Soup was nice and hot, not salty.. perfect for this weather. Would definitely come again as customer service was awesome and they keep it nice and clean!!!

This place reminds me of hot pot where you pick your own ingredients, own soup base, but then you don't have to do the cooking (which is actually the fun part IMO) We tried their bone soup and their hot spicy level. The hot spicy was a little too spicy for me to fully enjoy. The plain bone soup was pretty good. Their ingredients cost 2.99$/100g and there's 4 soups to choose from : original, mild, hot, extra hot. Our bowls were around 15$ each. You just have to be careful not to get carried away when getting ingredients at the station as they give you a big bowl to choose ingredients- and it can get pricey (we witnessed someone filling up the whole bowl and it cost 176$ - )

This is such a convenient and neat place to get your quick fix of noodles. They have a several shelves of ingredients that you personally pick and add to your bowl. It costs only $2.99/100 grams so you can practically add anything you want. This is great because the options included seafood items like clams and mussels as well as sliced meats and fish balls. They essentially have everything that you could find in a hot pot restaurant. Once I picked my ingredients, I went to the counter to weigh in my items. There is are several levels of spice that you can choose. I opted for the medium spicy broth. They give you a small wooden number which you place at your table. All you need to do is wait as they prepare your soup. My bowl was gigantic. It was steaming hot and very aromatic. The broth was not super oily and had a great sesame flavour. The spice level was perfect. I found all of my ingredients to be cooked very well. I overall enjoyed my experience here.

This is a very new recently opened restaurant located near north york subway station. For the uninitiated and people not from china, this place looks strange. Basically, you come in and they have a bunch of meat and veggies that you have to choose. but be careful because the ingredients are weighted by gram so it's very easy to get too many ingredients and end up paying a lot of money. after getting the ingredients, they will cook it for you and bring it out for you. I think the final dish is decent and pretty good. It was tasty and I don't have any complaints about it. I would come here again.

The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

This is a new Chinese restaurant featuring Hunan and Szechuan cuisine. The spicy dishes emphasize…read morespiciness, not numbness. A few of their dishes come out on a sizzling plate with flames underneath. They are still in soft-opening mode with several specials. You can see the menus via a QR code. The Hunan cuisine is listed as "Hunan Noodles" and the Szechuan cuisine is listed as "Chopfire Menu". The Szechuan dishes are listed with 1 to 3 chilies representing the spiciness. If you can't handle spicy, then avoid eating the chili pieces and you might "survive". The restaurant decided to minimize their food offerings so that they can focus on refining their dishes in terms of quality and taste, including from customer feedback. We ordered the following: 1. Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95). 2. Home Stir Fried Beef ($21.95). 3. Bullfrog with Baby Ginger ($19.95). 4. Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork ($15.95). 5. Drunk Oolong (charcoal roasted oolong tea base) x 2 ($5.95 x 2). 6. Lemon Taro Balls ($7.95). We also saw the following: 7. Stir-Fried Sliced Pork with Green Pepper Noodle Soup ($9.99). First 10 customers each day, only pays $1.00. 8. Ink Painting Cocktail ($5.95). The Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish came out on a huge sizzling platter. The BBQ Fish, a Turbot Fish, was very fresh and flaky, easily coming off the bone. There is no head attached like at typical Chinese restaurants but it would not have fit in the platter. The platter had a delicious sauce (soupy consistency and not sweet), luncheon meat slices, lotus root slices, and two other vegetables, along with chili pieces. The entire dish tasted great together with the various flavours. The menu listed it as 2-chili spicy but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Home Stir Fried Beef is tender. It is listed as 3-chili but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Bullfrog with Baby Ginger has the bullfrog cut up in little pieces; no you don't see a whole frog! The meat was actually good but most pieces have bones in it, so it takes time to eat it carefully. There was ginger slices in it but it, but we thought the slices were quite large! The Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork was very delicious! It came in a sizzling plate. The Cauliflower was flavourful and was not crunchy and not too soft. I've never had preserved pork slices before; it was quite good, not as salty as Chinese preserved vegetables. The Drunk Oolong has comes in a small bowl a with gin and ice. On the side, they include pieces of the charcoal roasted oolong tea leaves so you can smell it; quite a good smell indeed. You can also order it without the gin, which is what I ordered for mine (since I don't drink alcohol). It was such a nice drink! The Lemon Taro Balls dessert was pretty. In the centre was a slice of lemon. The customer service was good. There is plenty of indoor table and counter seating, including a small private room at the back. There is also an outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is pop music playing in the background. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-026

From the moment we walked in, the space already set the tone.. dark, dramatic, elegant, and beautifully designed without feeling overly stiff. It has that upscale energy that makes dinner feel like an occasion before you've even ordered anything. Food-wise, there was a lot to love. The signature apple wood roasted Peking duck was definitely a highlight, especially with the tableside carving, which made the whole experience feel even more polished and memorable. The skin had that beautiful lacquered finish, and the duck was rich, flavorful, and very satisfying. We also ordered a few larger dishes for the table, and I really appreciated how everything still felt refined without losing that comforting, indulgent side of Chinese dining. Some dishes leaned rich and luxurious, others were lighter and more aromatic, so the meal never felt repetitive. Service was another standout. Attentive without hovering, smooth without being too formal.. exactly the kind of service you hope for in a restaurant like this. Overall, Mott 32 is absolutely the kind of place I'd come back to for a special dinner, celebration, or just one of those nights when you want the meal to feel a little more elevated than usual.

Also, when we call to check if dim sum is being served, it makes sense to inform us of the dining room closure instead of having us come in anyway. We settled for eating in the lounge which ended up being good because bartender, Aiki?, was excellent as our server. Really great. Ordered the following: King prawn Har gow: standard. Not worth the premium Mott charges. Miso black cod dumpling: not good. Wouldn't order again Shredded Peking Duck Spring Roll, Sliced Vegetable : Excellent. We loved this! Nice and crunchy. Delicious duck inside. Good vinegar dipping sauce. Good volume Hot & Sour Iberico Pork Shanghainese Soup Dumplings: Fantastic and unique. The dumplings don't really need dipping sauce since inside there is a hot and sour soup along with pork. These are unique and delicious. Fried Wagyu beef taro croquette : pretty good but really tasted like a Jamaican patty Cold noodle with shredded duck : very generous with meat. Honestly a lot more than any other restaurant that serves this. To be fair no one charges this much either so it should. Flavour could be stronger but certainly decent. Fresh Mango, Coconut, Glutinous Rice Roll: nice fresh dessert. Our favourite. Frozen xiao long bao with chocolate and nut: Tastes like a mochi. Not bad. Dragonball Zen - fun name. Delicious drink. Jasmine Dragon Ball Infused Tanqueray Gin / Peach Liquor Lime / Rose Water / Mint / Seltzer Over $200 for this meal before tip. It's premium an debatable if with it.
