5 stars- I had a great experience sitting at the bar inside. Last time it was summer and sat outdoors. Sanny our sushi chef made the experience extremely memorable. He was very friendly, made us feel special and explained the preparation of each dish. On Sundays they have some specials which include $5 hand rolls and drink specials. All the dishes were super fresh and Awesome!! We had several of the hand rolls including a few blue claw crab rolls, lobster rolls, spicy tuna rolls and scallop rolls. We were also treated to the Chu toro Nigiri and the salmon crispy rice. We ordered half spicy tuna and lobster crispy rice. We also had a bowl of edamame and the tuna mushroom chips. Really nice presentation and everyone was great in terms of customer service. The restaurant is beautiful decorated, has a chic vibe and offers a great beverage menu. The fish here was quite delicious. It was fresh and had a buttery, rich texture. Their twists on the nigiri are well crafted to elevate the taste but also subtle enough to not distract from the flavor of the fish. Every piece of nigiri that I got was very enjoyable as well as the waygu. The crab hand roll was a popular item but honestly not that impressive. It sort of reminded me of a tuna and mayo deli sandwich, but still good flavor. The staff here were really friendly and accommodating. Absolutely love bondi as well as this location in Williamsburg. The staff is very friendly and attentive and the ambiance is gorgeous. The happy hour deal is hard to beat with $5 hand rolls that include lobster and crab and they have now also expanded the offers from my last visit to include crispy rice more variety of hand rolls as well as more cocktails such as the honeydew! I have only ever gotten takeout & I LOVE the salmon roll so much every time - so perfect and so fresh. 10/10. However, the rice part of the crispy rice roll varies in crispiness (sometimes not crispy at all) and in quality each and every time I order it. You really never know what you're gonna get. This rating is mainly regarding the optionally of things to order during dinner time. If it was based just on that I'd leave 1 star. I'm leaving 2 stars because the service was so great. Our chef was awesome and we were given complimentary sake and edamame! What an awesome host and experience. What is not as great is that dinner time you can basically only order some pretty expensive rolls, sushi/sashimi ala cart or omakase. We went with Omakase. I would have much preferred something more typical, like a sushi platter for $30-40 or something. Anyways, the omakase itself is NOT a real omakase experience. It's basically just "normal" sushi you'd find in a traditional sushi order. It's not premium at all. Any sushi/omakase person would get this: We were dipping our omakase sushi into our own soy sauce and wasabi bc it was either barely dressed or not at all. Not a reflection of the chef, he was awesome, but the sushi quality is not omakase. Bondi sushi seems to toe the line between being an omakase restaurant and sushi bar but don't do either that well - it's almost like they're relying on calling it omakase so they can charge for it in takeout boxes and grow revenue via online orders but who am I to say. I would not recommend for dinner. Lunch menu looked fine enough. At least more standard. read more

The charchisi bowl was excellent! A good amount of fish that was fresh and delicious. Ordered the brown rice instead of white and it was cooked perfectly. Very well seasoned, no hard pieces, accented the dish really well. There was way too much watercress and radish on top which took away from the visual appeal and was just in the way. totally flavorless and I had to take a lot of it off and transfer to a side plate because I couldn't get to the rice and the sushi. Salmon sashimi was also tasty and fresh. kind of a small portion, but I guess on par for sashimi. Ordered a side of the spicy mayo. Not spicy at all. would've been nice to have a larger portion as there was only really enough for the sashimi, but not for the bowl. Worst part, there was no wasabi provided at all! What sushi place doesn't provide wasabi? There was soy sauce only provided for the sashimi and ginger only for the bowl. Wasabi should be provided for both dishes. My only critique would be is the rolls have a little too much rice in ratio to the fish but still very yummy and appreciate the box it comes in. For dine in, it was almost an entirely different experience. No rolls like the ones offered for takeout just hand rolls or nigiri. Went I for a quick bite with my daughter. Ordered the sampler box from the "to go" menu because it's not offered from the sit down menu. Also got a roll and drinks. Tipped 20% and asked to sit inside because it was raining and cold today. After we sat down, the woman who took my order told me that "today was the last time the restaurant would make an exception for me to order from the to go menu and sit inside". Certainly well worth the value and everything was so good! The standout for me was the appetizer, I got salmon toast. SO GOOD!! And the wagyu hand roll is yummy too. Wow! This place is amazing! My husband and I have been here a few times and it never fails to impress me. We get the omakase, shishito peppers and crispy rice. The fish is SUPER fresh and delicious. The attention to detail with each piece is carefully crafted with sauces that compliment the fish so well! . The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. I love that you can pick two toppings for the the crispy rice so you can get a good sample. The shishito peppers are just the right amount of sweet, spicy and salty. Soooo good. Good fresh sushi - a bit more expensive than general but still my go to. My one issue though is to sit under the hot sun with your uncooked fish. I like picking it up and eat it out the back but there are no shades. I just ate my sushi there and it was more like a torture than a pleasure.
