My two clients invited me to try their store, Bonchon. I've had other versions of KFC before, but never like Bonchon except in Seoul. Not to expect a free meal, I used the Yelp app to order a family meal for me and my son in advance. Got the 1/2 Spicy and 1/2 Sweet Soy with pickled radish, of course. Upon arrival, I was greeted excitedly by my surprised clients and their staff. It a very clean store. I mean really tidy! It is a 30 minute drive home and yet the chicken was still warm and crispy. To my surprise, there was more in the box than I ordered. I gotta tell you, it did not go to waste! So delicious I had to slap myself! The spicy was just enough heat. The soy was fabulous too. I was here for the first time with my girlfriends. I heard a lot from them about the fried chicken and hence decided to go here. The service was great as we didn't make any reservations. We walked in and we were seated. We ordered, fried chicken bulgogi and fries first as we were very hungry. Then we ordered Korean tacos and glass noodles. Delicious, the fried chicken came with radish which is cut like a sugar cube and delicious. The service was good and one thing to remember dogs are not allowed and they don't have outside seating. One of my favorite BonChon spots around east bay! My first time experience here was not the greatest since they forgot our order and we had wait a extra time 20-30 minutes. The lady was very apologetic and ask if we wanted drinks and gave us a coke. The second time around, it was a much younger nice gal who helped us out and everything went smoothly! We really loved the mild flavor, so the second time we got a larger order of only the mild. While we enjoyed the spicy, if I want spicy wings I would go traditional Buffalo style at a Wing Stop or Buffalo Wild Wings. The restaurant is small, well-managed, and clean. K pop music videos for better or worse. No outdoor seating, but they keep the door open for ventilation. Other really good food was the beef tacos. Very filling and great flavors. The wings were big and they added an extra drumstick in there. Unfortunately, the batter was too thick and the once you bite through the batter, the chicken is actually bland. The restaurant is a bit noisy, with loud music bounding off the tiles and the walls. It was pretty hard to have a conversation. However, I was disappointed with the option to have Curbside pickup as an option and it wasn't upheld. I placed an order ahead online with a specific time for pickup, about 1hr ahead of time. She told me that they were behind and that I will get a text when my order was ready. So 45min later from when my order was supposed to be ready. No Curbside, I had to go in store to pick up my order. I asked them about the curbside option and was told that they don't know how to change the time. Not really clear, but better to just stick to pick up option. Other than the pickup/curbside ordering experience, the food was good. -Family Meal: combo of wings and drums with even mix of soy garlic, spicy and sweet crunchy. Side of fries and coleslaw. Great option to share with the family. Everyone loved the flavors of the chicken. The chicken still was crispy when we got home. -Pork buns: these are great pork belly buns with a nice crunch from the coleslaw and cucumber.
