Goat Vindaloo Butter Chicken Garlic Naan Mango Lassi

Friendly staff who made great recommendations Everything tasted great and the goat didn't have a strong gamey taste so it was prepared well! The garlic naan was so good. Definitely a casual sit down restaurant well suited for the college students in the area.

Subpar food. The Naan was too thick and the meat in the curry or noodles didnt seem fresh. Was chewy and unpleasant to eat. Unfortunately our visit was disappointing. The restaurant is in downtown, so plan for the parking situation ahead.

A little awkward being the only white guy in there but I'm not afraid to try new food so I waited out the line, talked to some nice peeps in line and got the scoop on the menu. I got the 3rd chicken option and butter pita bread. The chicken flavor was awesome, and the pita hit. Also got a mango milk drink, not as much of a fan but glad I tried it.

My husband chose this for his birthday dinner last weekend. We love Indian street food and this was the only place with Indian street food that we could find in Cleveland. You can order and pay over the phone when you get takeout so that's what we did. My parents, husband, and I all split a bunch of food. For starters we got Dahi Puri, Bombay Special Bhel, Samosa Chole, Samosas, and Gobi Manchurian. I loved the Dahi Puri, Bombay Special Bhel, and the Samosa Chole. We had to assemble the Dahi Puri and Bombay Special Bhel ourselves which I wasn't a fan of. I assume they do this so that it doesn't get soggy though. I usually love Gobi Manchurian, but theirs wasn't as good as others I've had. It was mushy and the sauce was different than what I've had elsewhere. For entrees we got Malai Kofta, Paneer Makhani, and Butter Chicken. I've never had Malai Kofta before, but it was by far my favorite. All three were good (although I always like paneer/veggie more than meat at Indian restaurants). We added cheese naan, garlic naan, and Onion Kulcha as well. The garlic naan was great as usual. I've never had Onion Kulcha before and I loved it. The cheese naan was disappointing. It didn't really taste like it had any cheese. If you've never had Indian street food, you definitely need to try it! This place was delicious and I would highly recommend it.

If you're a fan of Indian street food as much as I am then you're in for a treat with Bombay Chaat. My family and I enjoyed many of their dishes this past weekend to celebrate my 29th birthday. I would recommend everything we shared but I'll limit the list to the best of the best. I recommend trying: Paneer Makhani Malai Kofta Bombay Special Bhel

First of all, their ordering system is THE WORST of all the time. They want you to place an order online and there you have to provide them with all your personal information like Name, address and credit card information. Credit card alone Carries all your personal information. Would you give all your personal details to a restaurant just for the sake of one order which you can place in other restaurants JUST BY CALLING THEM OVER THE PHONE. I find that very odd and ridiculous. I know restaurants can make you good money if it's busy one But do you know what makes you the most money and what is the most expensive thing in the world " PERSONAL DATA" Like the exact same details that these people ask you when you want to place an order. Second thing. The cost cutting technique. Recently I started noticing that this restaurant is charging extra and giving very less food compare to other restaurants. They are making fool of everyone who goes there and I am sure they laugh at their own customers because they are ripping them off and thinking of themselves as very SMART people. Shame on this restaurant's owners.

Food: Fantastic! Price: $10-$17 Atmosphere: Mom and Pop Cafeteria Overall: Highly Recommend (but call in) Bombaay Chaat is one of my favorite Indian Restaurants in Cleveland. The food has never been anything below great in regard to taste, but their wait time is excessive. I've had to wait 40 minutes before for my food. If you plan to eat here, make sure to call ahead for the order or you will be a while. My go to order is usually the somosa with Chicken Tikka Masala. This time I got the Dahi Puri and Chicken Tikka Masala. The appetizers here are also really overpriced in my opinion. As you can see, the Dahi Puri are simply lightly puffed puris (that you have to fill in yourself) that taste great, but cost $5.49. The sauces at this place are out of this world good which might be where the cost is incurred but still not worth it. The Chicken Tikka Masala sauce here is some of the best I've ever tried. It comes in 4 spice levels and I've found the "spicy" level gives good heat while still pairing well with the cream based sauce. I also usually only go with Chicken here for anything because the lamb and goat are more like pressed cubes. Overall, this Indian spot is great for a call in and pick up. It provides fantastic tasting Indian food to a fairly central spot downtown. Would highly recommend to anyone.

The butter chicken is phenomenal. It was too spicy even though I asked for it mild, but otherwise it's rich creamy texture wasn't watered down and it was rife with fresh spices. Absolutely delicious. The egg masala dosa was dry and plain. The ka halwa was hot but sort of plain as well.

This is one of my favorite Indian places in Cleveland! They have a wide variety of food on their menu from South Indian to chaat to North Indian foods. Their lunch buffet is particularly good (although only available on weekdays) with a decent variety of options. My husband and I have been here 10+ times in the past year. The menu is extensive so there is something for everyone. And as a plus the decor is really well done inside too! The attention to detail on the decor is impressive- there's clocks with Cleveland time and Mumbai time and they have a mini skyline on them that matches the theme of the restaurant! Things we have enjoyed: many of the North Indian curries (paneer tikka, palak paneer, kadai paneer, bhindi), chaat items (ragada patties, samosa chole, papdi chaat), South Indian (masala dosa, medu vada) A note about their service: the manager and the staff really seem to care that customers are satisfied. This is a place where you order at the counter and pick up your meal from the counter. One time, they had run out of a particular item we had wanted to order, so we ordered something else. By the time we were finishing our meal, the manager came up to us and brought us another item complimentary for the inconvenience.

Yes, briefly - this great option for vegetarians and spicy food connoisseurs next to CSU; northern Indian food. Had the korma and garlic naan. Scrumptious! Loved the mango lassi as well.

    Goat vindaloo, naan, samosas

First and foremost: the food is delicious. I had the goat vindaloo, samosas, and naan. The meat was well cooked, but still had some bone fragments - not a problem for me, but something to be aware of when dining. Although the dining area is comparable to many quick service restaurants; the walls are well decorated, but it feels pretty empty. Plates are paper. Price is fantastic and portions are good. Basically a perfect place to stop for a meal, but not to take someone out for a date night.

My friend ordered the chicken tikka masala, which I tasted and liked as well, it wasn't overly sweet and mild, the way she likes it. The cheese naan was very tasty as well. Ambiance is simple but appears clean. While there is plenty of seating, even if the tables are a bit close, they seem like they do much more takeout service. Service could be better: they were very nice and helpful, but we had to go up to the counter to get someone to come out from the back to give us our checks. But I did think it was a bit expensive for a lunch buffet ($24.99 per person on a Friday). The restaurant is also very no-frills. Tables took a bit to be bussed (I think they were short on staff), and at least when I went, you have to pay for water ($1 for a bottle of water). But the food was delicious, and the staff was nice.

I went with a group at 5:30 and put our names in (definitely expect a wait, but fear not there are bars near by to kill time). There's no better word to describe the interior besides "cool". It's just truly so cool. We had the pleasure of meeting Morgan who was so attentive and helped me navigate dishes with an allergy. Now the food. Holy moly was every bite incredible. We got a variety of dishes and all paired so lovely. Carried and savory and everything you want in a small plates dinner. I visited while in Cleveland and was super happy I listened the folks on online forums I researched before my trip, because it delivered! The menu is more Indian-fusion rather than your super traditional Indian fare, weaving in classic flavors with a few twists and inspiration from the mediterranean and middle-east. It's special-diet friendly, with a wide range of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free dishes and I would suggest ordering 2-3 small plates per person, unless you opt for the opt for their "chef-curated menu's." We went with four dishes plus bread to share between the two of us: 1. Clay Bread ($6): Ambas version of Naan bread, just a bit less charred than I would prefer. Despite each table getting a little dish of (delicious) mango chutney, no bread service is offered so this is definitely needed if you're ordering any dippage. This tasted more like pita bread than naan and could've benefitted by a brush of ghee and sprinkle of sea salt. Rating: 3/5 2. Warm spinach dip - lemon, garam masala, yogurt ($10): A classic but with a warm and spicy spin, this was absolutely delicious and a perfect thing to dip their fluffy clay bread. Garam masala added a depth that made it addictive and the hint of fresh lemon added brightness and acidity. Definitely order this. Rating: 5/5 3. Lentil donuts - spicy serrano chili jam, coconut chutney ($13): Round little pucks of cooked red lentils shaped into mini donuts and fried, the texture and heft were a bit mushy and heavy, but the flavor was good. The serrano chili jam and coconut chutney added a sweetness and spiciness that was appreciated, and we used that to add some sweetness to the chicken tikka. I probably wouldn't order again but a good option for the vegan and gluten-free crowd. Rating 3/5 4. Lamb kofta - kohlrabi, pickled shallot, quinoa-carrot pilau, parsley ($19): These were perfectly fried, simple but super flavorful kofta's that really let the star of the show (lamb) shine. The shaved kohlrabi, pickled shallot, pilau, and parsley added freshness and brightness that balanced everything beautifully. One of the standout dishes of the night and if you're there, get this! Rating 5/5 5. Herb grilled chicken tikka - creamy tomato sauce, yogurt, chives ($20): Juicy chicken thighs were coated in a tomato-forward cream sauce that gave vibes of chicken tikka but not as spice-forward as a more traditional version (which I would have like/appreciated). Despite the description saying the chicken was grilled, it only had just the slightest hint of char and so this was one of the least favorites of the night. Good, but definitely room for improvement. Rating 3/5 Overall, Amba is absolutely worth checking out if you're craving Indian-inspired flavors in a more modern, small-plate format. The ambiance is perfect for date night, celebrations, or dinner with friends, and the menu offers enough variety and flex to explore while also being wallet-friendly.
