My husband chose this for his birthday dinner last weekend. We love Indian street food and this was the only place with Indian street food that we could find in Cleveland. You can order and pay over the phone when you get takeout so that's what we did. My parents, husband, and I all split a bunch of food. For starters we got Dahi Puri, Bombay Special Bhel, Samosa Chole, Samosas, and Gobi Manchurian. I loved the Dahi Puri, Bombay Special Bhel, and the Samosa Chole. We had to assemble the Dahi Puri and Bombay Special Bhel ourselves which I wasn't a fan of. I assume they do this so that it doesn't get soggy though. I usually love Gobi Manchurian, but theirs wasn't as good as others I've had. It was mushy and the sauce was different than what I've had elsewhere. For entrees we got Malai Kofta, Paneer Makhani, and Butter Chicken. I've never had Malai Kofta before, but it was by far my favorite. All three were good (although I always like paneer/veggie more than meat at Indian restaurants). We added cheese naan, garlic naan, and Onion Kulcha as well. The garlic naan was great as usual. I've never had Onion Kulcha before and I loved it. The cheese naan was disappointing. It didn't really taste like it had any cheese. The food has never been anything below great in regard to taste, but their wait time is excessive. I've had to wait 40 minutes before for my food. If you plan to eat here, make sure to call ahead for the order or you will be a while. My go to order is usually the somosa with Chicken Tikka Masala. This time I got the Dahi Puri and Chicken Tikka Masala. The appetizers here are also really overpriced in my opinion. As you can see, the Dahi Puri are simply lightly puffed puris (that you have to fill in yourself) that taste great, but cost $5.49. The sauces at this place are out of this world good which might be where the cost is incurred but still not worth it. The Chicken Tikka Masala sauce here is some of the best I've ever tried. It comes in 4 spice levels and I've found the "spicy" level gives good heat while still pairing well with the cream based sauce. I also usually only go with Chicken here for anything because the lamb and goat are more like pressed cubes. Overall, this Indian spot is great for a call in and pick up. It provides fantastic tasting Indian food to a fairly central spot downtown. Would highly recommend to anyone. read more

This is one of my favorite Indian places in Cleveland! They have a wide variety of food on their menu from South Indian to chaat to North Indian foods. Their lunch buffet is particularly good (although only available on weekdays) with a decent variety of options. My husband and I have been here 10+ times in the past year. The menu is extensive so there is something for everyone. And as a plus the decor is really well done inside too! The attention to detail on the decor is impressive- there's clocks with Cleveland time and Mumbai time and they have a mini skyline on them that matches the theme of the restaurant! Things we have enjoyed: many of the North Indian curries (paneer tikka, palak paneer, kadai paneer, bhindi), chaat items (ragada patties, samosa chole, papdi chaat), South Indian (masala dosa, medu vada) A note about their service: the manager and the staff really seem to care that customers are satisfied. I ordered the Cholle Bhature and the immediately came back the next day to order it again because it is that tasty. You have to go up to the counter, order your food, pay, and find a seat. They will call your order up when it is ready. You can also call them ahead of time to place an order for pickup if you don't want to seat inside. The cholle bhature is chickpeas served with puri (deep fried bread). I wanted to eat something vegetarian so this was a perfect choice. I first heard about this menu item after my roommate, who is Indian. She told me about ordering the Cholle Bhature and how she loved it. I've had chickpeas before and I've eaten different types of Indian breads before at other Indian restaurants. The chickpeas was very well seasoned and the bread was super soft. I got the chickpeas mild but you can also order it spicy if you want. My friend and her husband ordered the Chicken Biryani and they loved it. Also, when I ordered this same menu item again, I realised that the chickpeas has little pieces of onions inside and I hate onions but I still managed to love what I ate. I'll probably order a rice dish next time. When I ate inside the restaurant (on Friday, 22 June 2017), I was treated to dinner by a friend who was visiting from Chicago. We both got the Masala tea and she mentioned how the tea was one of the best she has had recently. I thought the tea tasted fine actually but that's because I needed sugar inside which the servers didn't add (no problem). The inside is quite large and there is a beautiful painting inside with the words "Bombay Chaat" written on it. I recommend this place. Everything was so delicious and service was good. Man, I'm so conflicted about Bombay Chaat. On my first few visits, I truly thought I found a place that I would visit regularly here in Cleveland. The Pepper Chicken is my go-to and I continue to stand by that. It's spicy (like actually spicy, not just a few dashes of ground pepper) and coats your tongue with a wonderful flavor. Their buffet (which I assume has been nixed in this post-COVID era) was mediocre to me. Like all buffets, you know what you're signing up for--sure you're going to get a wide array of food selections, but at the cost of freshness. If that's your cup of tea, than more power to you! All that being said, on the last few visits to Bombay Chaat, my friends and I noticed the glaring decrease in service quality. Oftentimes, we are waiting 20-25 min for food which is magnitudes longer than the wait times previously. Wanted so much to like this place. Big disappointment. I had the Idli and Rava combo along with veg samosas. The soup with the Idli was flavorless as was the coconut sauce. Unfortunately I couldn't enjoy the rava or samosas since the oil they fried it in was both burnt and rancid. The Samosas were filled with the rancid oil, utterly revolting. The mint chutney for the samosas was old or poor quality jarred, not sure which. Also, the seating is beyond uncomfortable so I ate outside on a bench. These two orders were $17 with out a drink!!!!! I love this place and is my go-to place after exams or whenever I just want to celebrate with good food. Their lunch buffet is amazing and very well priced at $10. They have an assortment of various Indian dishes for buffet along with hot naan. At times the buffet can be pretty busy which means that naan is in high demand so I'd sit closer to the buffet during these times to have easy access to the food. I've also been for dinner and although a little bit pricier, it's worth it because the quality of the food is better and you can adjust the spice level more accordingly. The garlic naan is also killer and I get it every time with my meal. Usually I order the mutter paneer which is one of my absolute favorites. The portions are also very generous and I usually have enough to take home. I'm a huge indian food fan and have tried a few places around Cleveland. Bombay Chaat has my heart so I'd highly recommend coming here.
